Toshiba DVD Player in Laptop - Audio Output settings

I am just trying to play a DVD using my Toshiba DVD Player in my Laptop Satellite A300 PSAGCA.  It is coming up with an error which says "An error has occured in audio output settings.  Please check that the sound driver is set up properly"  To the best of my knowledge I haven't change anything recently so could anyone please guide me how to fix this as I can't play the DVD's.
Kind Regards

..upgrades all by itself .. Maybe it was one of those times.
Let's do a System Restore to before the last update to see if that helps.
   What is System Restore?
I recommend you never let Microsoft (Windows Update) upgrade device drivers. Get them all from Toshiba.

  • Is there a fix for Mountain Lion audio output settings after the laptop goes to sleep and wakes back up?

Mac Book Pro running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 after the notebook sleeps audio and video does work (for example on YouTube).  I have been able to temporarily work around this by toggling the settings on Built-in Output in Audio Midi Setup, Audio window between 2ch-20bit Integer and 2ch-24bit Integer.  But this is a temporary fix until the laptop sleeps again.
When it's not working, all system sounds (emails "dings", delete file "swish", etc.) are silenced, and video playbacks on YouTube and elsewhere freeze and have no audio until the Audio Output settings are toggled then they all immediately start working.
Has anyone encountered the same?  Have a long term fix for this annoyance?
I cannot upgrade the OS to 10.9 Mavericks yet because of a corporate policy - there is some conflict with 10.9 and our corporate VPN connection.

You can try to check your hard drive.
Apple Hardware Test doesn't catch everything, so even if it doesn't find a problem, you could have one.

  • NEW Satellite A505 - Blu-ray won't play on WinDVD or Toshiba DVD player

I purchased a Satellite A505 (Windows 7) with a Blu-ray disc player that was pre-loaded with WinDVD, Toshiba DVD player, and one other player (?) - all this software was added 12/21/2009 (by the manufacturer). When I put in a Blu-ray disc WinDVD stops responding and I have to start the task manager to "end task." The Toshiba player says "media not supported." I used the recommended compatibility settings (Windows XP) and it says "incompatible application." I tried using a Sony Vaio w/ Blu-ray and had no problems with the same disc using WinDVD. I don't know what's wrong (and I'm not super tech savvy) - my settings, my drivers, my hardware... ???
I also downloaded the free trial of Corel's WinDVD 2010 and it wouldn't play on that either...
*Note - my model number is A505-S6012 but I can't find this as an existing model on any of the Toshiba sites. It was delivered to the store around 1/4/10, so it's brand new. The A505-S6990 has most of the same features though.

    jacuielaura,
I had the exact same issue with the Win DVD BD that was preloaded on my A505-S6014 when I purchased it. I myself also downloaded the Win DVD 2010 free trial and it did not work. Reason being is that they are only allowing people to trial the DVD version of Win DVD 2010 and not the Win DVD BD 2010. I also tried Cyberlink's PowerDVD and it worked but it digitized terribly. So I uninstalled both trials and went to support.toshiba.com and found what I needed to fix it.
I recommend you uninstall the original Win DVD BD version you have and any trial editions you downloaded and follow what I have listed below to fix your problem.
This is only a recommendation. Uninstall and install software at your own risk. If this fix doesn't work for you then you will have to call Toshiba and request a disc to reinstall your original software you uninstalled.
This is how I fixed mine:
Go to Support > Download > then choose your category (Laptop) then your Family (Satellite) then you're model #(A505-6012). Or you can just enter S6012 in the search box and it should bring up a list of all Laptop models with S6012 in them. Choose yours and click Go.
Now from the two drop down lists choose which Operating system: (Windows 7 64 bit) should be what you have, then choose Blu-Ray in the 2nd drop down list.
Download and SAVE these files to your desktop or My Downloads folder so you do not have to search for them again after you reboot.
You should now see this listed:
WinDVD BD for Toshiba for Windows 7 (32/64)(v8.0; 11-05-2009; 176.1M)
Also you will need to download the (Intel Management Engine Interface driver) which is listed in the drop down list under Utility (2nd page):
Intel Management Engine Interface for Windows XP/7 (32/64)(v6.0.0.1184; 10-08-2009; 6.39M)
Reboot after each installation even if it doesnt tell you to.
After both downloads have been installed and the OS is completely loaded again, insert a Blu-Ray disc and hopefully it should automatically play.
P.S. When playing Blu-Ray's I turn my power management to Performance. This may also help.
    Good luck!

  • Toshiba DVD player is not working properly since Windows 7 upgrade

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and can no longer get my Toshiba DVD player to work.
I have tried updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling. Also, I tried to download a Realtec driver meant for Vista from a suggestion on another thread and that was even worse. It is currently uninstalled, but when I install it, it either doesn't play at all or I get an error saying that it can't connect to the output device.
Has someone experienced a similar problem on Windows 7?

I have the same problem - I have upgraded my new Toshiba satellite L300-29V and the Toshiba DVD player wont work. The error message I get is "modules needed for this application are missing - if restarting does not work then re-install application" - I don't know how to reinstall - supposedly the application is on a partition on my hard drive but I dont know how to get at it. Any suggestions please?

  • Satellite C855D Toshiba DVD player display suddenly stopped displaying

Please help as its now beyond me. The DVD player has suddenly just stopped. I can hear it and control it but cannot see it. I have checked the diplay button but its all ok.
    Help

    Im sorry IJK.
I thought it could be possible to download the Toshiba DVD player but it seems that this software is licensed and it cannot be downloaded from Toshiba driver page.
Its part of the Toshiba image. So you can get this tool only reinstalling the Toshiba image using the HDD recovery or the created Toshiba Recovery medium.
However, recovering the system would mean that the whole system would be installed again congaing previous HDD format. So in such case the data backup should be created before starting such procedure.
Another option: you could try to set the system back to early time point before the Toshiba DVD tool has crashed.
Last but not least you could try to install other freeware DVD player software like VLC player. It one of the best player software which is available on the market

  • What can I do about this message -"Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working"

    Hi
My DVD Player used to work fine . . . and then I installed iTunes.
It then worked for a while, but only by using 'Run as Administrator'.
After a couple of weeks I started to get the message "Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working".
I have uninstalled iTunes - and uninstalled and then re-installed the DVD Player - but it still will not work!!
    Any solutions please?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ms Q_reeus

My solution to this is to remove Toshiba DVD player and install VLC player. You can get it for free.
It can read all video formats and you don't need some additional codecs.

  • Re: Portege R600-10Q- Toshiba DVD Player has stop working

    Hello,
    Please help me,
I can't use the Toshiba DVD Player, every time I open it, appears the windows windows saying that the app has stop working...
When I see the error report, appears 'app crash'....
I've already gone to the Toshiba site to make the bios upgrade and have made the download of a new version Toshiba DVD player and the problem remains the same...
    What can I do?
    Thansk and Best Regards,
    Hugo Cunha

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
    1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
    2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
    4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

Failing that, I would backup the data and run recovery.

  • Toshiba DVD Player on Satellite U300 does not work

I have a new Sat U300 and the Toshiba DVD player refuses to work a, the message is that a module is missing.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
wheres the problem. Uninstall the current installed version and reinstall the Toshiba HD-DVD player. It would be the best if you look at the [Toshiba Driver Download Site|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp] for updates of this program.
If this does not help, backup all your files and perform a full system recovery, which should really help.
    Otherwise, give some feedback here.

  • Satellite P200D-134 - can not use the Toshiba DVD player

I have the Satellite P200D-134 and can not use the Toshiba DVD player.
    It displays an error message.
"Required modules missing for this application"
In Vista it worked everything fine.
Now I upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate and all Toshiba programs are gone.
And I can not use the Software HD DVD player or other Software from Toshiba.
    What should I do?
Does anyone have any advice? Is there any help?
Please write back in German or English.
    Thank you!

    Hi
Did you install the VAP (value added package)?
    If not do that!!!
Furthermore I recommend installing the DVD Player Update Check Tool which can be found on the Toshiba European driver page.
With this tool, you can check your notebook, if your DVD-Player needs a Upgrade and if yes, it gives you the download link for the needed upgrade version.
By the way: If you cannot find the DVD Player for Win 7 in P200D section then you can download this from the P500 section!

  • Default file association & audio output settings in Audition

I get so tired of having to adjust the 'default player' for my audio files. I'd prefer everything to play in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and have that set as such. But, I guess my HP PC and/or Audition causes them to switch quite often.  I don't see that setting in Audition, as sometimes my WAV files show the Audition icon on them and will then obviously want to open in there if I click on them. ANd if they have switched then mp3 and FLAC become associated with HP MediaSmart. Maybe it is a cuplrit also, but it sure is frustrating and I figured I need to ask for help.
Secondly, on this PC (WIN7) I have to listen to Audition either thru headphones or speakers (thus far). I don't remember HAVING to listen thru headphones or speakers by manually setting it in Audition Preferences on my previous PC (XP).  I would just plug the headphones in and THAT would make the sound go throught the headphones. I generally am using headphones when using Audition, but it gets frustrating having to manually change Preferences when I want to listen thru speakers. I don't have to do that with Audacity.
If I try to listen without headphones (with it set to Headphones) it gives me an error message saying The selected output port or ASIO driver is invalid. Please change your settings in the Audio Hardware Setup dialog. What should I have it set on so I am not one or the other? I like to be able to go back and forth without changing it in settings each time. My apologies if I am just overlooking something simple.

My guess, and that's all it is because of the way I have observed different Windows 7 machines behaving differently in this respect, is that the functionality of the headphone/speaker switching depends on what order you start various programs up.
My guess id that you are using Audition 3 because of the reference to asio in post 1, so I assume you are working through "Audition Windows Sound"? Have you tried asio4all as an alternative interface? Maybe that might give more control.
I assume you have checked that the default sample rate in Windows Control Panel is the same for both speaker and headphone output. I don't think this should make a difference, but you never know. I can't look at this here as both my Win 7 machines just show speakers as the only output choice even though there is automatic switching to headphones when they are plugged in. Both current machines have Realtek audio.
Sorry this is all so vague.

  • Re: Toshiba DVD Player crashes on start up on an Equium L350-10L

I have never got the Toshiba DVD software to work on this laptop although DVDs can be played using Windows Media Player.
I have uninstalled the version supplied with the laptop and installed the latest version from the Toshiba website. The player will
now run once if it is the first application to be started from a hard reboot, but will crash if any other application has been run before it.
Any ideas as to how to solve this problem will be appreciated

One thing you could try is to uninstall the new player, and clean registry with ccleaner, or tools like this. Then reboot your system and reinstall it.
Do you get any error message when the player crashes after you launched other programs?

  • Lot of noise from laptop audio output

I'm getting a lot of noise from the audio output of my Macbook Pro (early 2008) OS 10.8.5 when I connect an external firewire 800 drive that uses a power cord. I get more of the same noise when I connect an external video monitor. The noise is a digital hashy and whiney sound that modulates sometimes as what on the screen changes. If I use my Focusrite Scarlett interface the noise is amplified to the point that I can't work. The noise starts when the drive's power cord is plugged in. If I work off a pocket USB drive there is no noise. This is my work around for now. I'm using a power strip that has noise filtering. I have 2 different studios and I get the same noise in both. I've done a lot of trouble shooting and have narrowed the problem down to connecting a drive with a power cord to the computer. I have tried different drives too with the same result. Is there any hope of fixing this?

Can't say I've ever had any noise when starting the unit up over optical - if your DAC is designed for stereo only then it may be causing noise by attempting to play the 5.1 startup video's audio bitstream which is dolby digital encoded not stereo.

  • Optical Audio Output Settings Question

    Hey peoples!
Do you guys know.. on either the Macbook or iMac, is there any way to keep a toslink/optical cable plugged in to the digital audio out port, and switch between the internet speakers and the optical through software?
I only need sound on the surround speakers I have connected about half the time, and the other half the built-in speakers are fine. But in Sound settings only "digital out" is selectable when I have the cable plugged in, and I'd love to not have to plug and unplug the cable over and over again.
Thanks in advance for any info/assistance

No, there is a micro switch build into the output jack that tells the Audio MIDI Setup if you have something plugged in or not.

  • How do I change the audio output settings on my MacBook Pro?

I have connected an HDMI cable from my laptop to my HDTV and I can't get the audio to come out of my TV speakers.  Do I need a special cable for this or is there a way in settings to get my laptop/TV to choose which speakers to play out of?

Check the model of your MacBook Pro against the list in this Apple tech note. If yours is new enough, you just need an HDMI cable that supports video and audio. If yours is too old, you'll need to run a separate audio cable to your TV.
