Toshiba e330 Pocket PC
Hello,
I'm starting playing with J2ME and can compile my first demo application on my PC and play with it on a simulator.
Now, I would like to buy a second hand PDA to be able to make real tests and I would like your opinion about one model. I ask you because I'm not really aware about what I really need as hardware to be able to test my applications and I don't want to spend to much money on it.
I found on Toshiba e330 Pocket PC on ebay for around 90 euro. Is this kind of device sufficient to start playing with J2ME?
Thanks in advance for you comments.
Alain.
does Microsoft pocket Pc support Java or j2me?
and or/ does Windows CE support any of them? i am
going around in circles tring to find out. ahhh!!!Try PersonalJava

Does anyone know how I can obtain a copy of Jeode that will run on a Toshiba e740 Pocket PC?
try this thread:
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=56&thread=253160
or contact Insignia and see if you get a different response...
http://www.insignia.com/content/products/buy.shtml

Toshiba ships the Jeode JVM with all their PDA's...but only in Japan.
The e740 isn't sold in Japan and the version of the e550g sold in North America doesn't include Jeode.
HP ships a companion CD containing the Jeode VM with their IPAQ 3800, but the installer is configured exclusively for the Ipaq and will give you an error if you try to install it on your e740. (Specifically, "Error: This is not an IPAQ device")
Maybe you could purchase a copy off of someone who downloaded it from Handango when it was still available. None listed on eBay though. Also try checking the pda forums like: Brighthand, PdaBuzz, and PocketPCPassion.
Does not look hopeful, but if you have any better luck, let us all know. -

Hi,

Thanks.Hi,
I'm actually trying the Bluetooth with pda example on Toshiba e800 Pocket PC it prompt this msg.
When i try with O2 Xda II the error msg is not prompt. I guess the problem with the bluetooth device itself.

Is it possible to install a 160 GB Toshiba slim-fit HDD from an iPod Classic 2009 model into a iPod 5th Gen Late-2006 model that originally had a 30 GB Toshiba drive?
I have had my 30 GB iPod video for about 7 years, it was a gift and has served me well. Unfortunately it was in my pocket when I brushed up against a very powerful magnet which latched onto the unit and scrambled the hardware. Sad iPod icon.
I was told I probably need to replace the HD in order to get it back to working order. What I am wondering is, would I be able to replace it with a larger capacity drive so long as I got a unit that was slim enough to fit into the casing?Have you tried resetting the PRAM? http://gigaom.com/2011/07/26/when-to-reset-your-macs-pram-and-smc/
Which Windows version are you trying to install? If I remember right, you can't use windows 8 on these older machines.
Other than that it's hard to say what could have gone wrong. I can only suggest going through the steps again carefully and making sure everything worked the way it should.
Have a look at this article too for a slighly more verbose instruction on making a drive bootable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Install-Windows-7-without-USB-or-DVD-without-upg ra/ -
Recovery files out of pocket, can I download a zip or something?
My daughter's Satellite s55-A5235 needed a new harddrive, it is still under warranty. I opted for the ship me the drive option and have it installed. She is home but we cannot find her file that has her drivers in it. We know it is out of pocket because it has her printer driver and others too. Is there a way to download a zip file? I am afraid to order the flash media as it may cross her/us in the mail as she heads back to university. Also, We are not wanting to pour money into a machine still under warranty.
I think you're asking if there's a way to download a system recovery disc image. Unfortunately, that's not possible due to licensing restrictions.
As you may already know, the recovery media can be ordered at http://support.toshiba.com/repair.
Jim -
Toshiba shipping policy/process for recovery media - bizarre and expensive.
Is anyone else upset that Toshiba charges nearly twenty five dollars to mail us something we already essentially own?
"There is no charge for the software itself, for which customers already own licenses, and as of 10/1/10 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95 for DVD media or $34.95 for USB sticks."
Also, for such an exorbitant price for getting such a small, lightweight package physically to the customer, I don't think it's out of line to expect Toshiba to be OVERNIGHTING the disks....but, it appears Toshiba does not do this, either; my email told me that while "most orders ship the next business day," I should expect to wait 5-7 business days to receive them. Clearly, they are NOT overnighting this.
Worse yet -- when I checked the tracking of my package, it appears, for some bizarre reason, Toshiba has elected to ship my disks from North Carolina to Georgia (via DHL?) and then, from GA, back up the eastern seaboard to Baltimore, Maryland, where I live.....via the US postal service. This must be some "one size fits all" mailing scheme, which I object to very strongly, given I've laid out $24.95 for what ACTUALLY should only cost a couple bucks, tops. It's ridiculous to ship a package from North Carolina, to GEORGIA, then Maryland. That's wasting several days to ship something in the WRONG DIRECTION. And using two companies to do it. Other companies I do business with don't do this....why does Toshiba? It is idiotic. I object to it because for $24.95, this could be overnighted to me, directly from North Carolina to Maryland, and Toshiba would STILL pocket a profit.
We as customers should demand better service than this....every day without the computer is like a week, and we're paying for top not service here! The Recovery discs cost 24.95 is already a package which is for the disc and the shipping. Normally the standard shipping time is 7 -10 business days because when a customer orders a recovery disc, that is the only time that toshiba creates a recovery disc for the laptop that is, according to the tech that I have spoken to. Some toshiba laptops does not come with a Recovery disc because the laptop already had a Hidden Recovery Partition that would allow you to create your own recovery disc and perform the recovery process without needing a recovery disc. So generally speaking, getting the RACD would depend on the model of the laptop that you have or if the laptop's hard drive is being replaced

Toshiba 500 gb autoupdate portable hard drive
i just bought one of these with the automatic back up option for my toshiba satellite A665 when i open the drive on my computer the pocket data backup application is there. i click on it and hit run as administrator. then it does nothing the program wont run. what do i need to do?
I got one also. The instructions on mine say to double-click the PocketDataBackup.exe file to start the process. It worked on mine. I also copied all the files on the drive to a separate folder on my desktop's C: drive to ensure that I have them if the files get corrupted on the Toshiba in the future. I hope this helps.

Hello everyone,
I'm interested in knowing if there is a java virtual machine in the software that the product includes (the pocket PC: Toshiba 740 BT).
I have been searching in the web of toshiba but I haven't been able to find anything about JVM.
The microprocessor is Intel XScale and the operating system is Windows CE, do you know about other JMV compatible engines?
People talk me about "Jeode" but I'm not sure if it's compatible.
Thanks for answers.I think IBM J9 is the most stable JVM on my DELL Axim so far. I have never tried Jeode though, due to their high price and lack of eveluation license. J9 comes for free in the eclipse device dev studio, if you know how to use the VM ...
I know IBM J9 is very hard to configure and run, but once you know all the tricks, it is a great modulized VM, I can run from the very tiny CLDC foundation up to SWING!
I will try to come up with a step-by-step tutorial for IBM J9 pretty soon. IBM's own super-simple documentation adds no value except confusion. -
PH2100U-1EWR Pocket Data Backup Error: 0x80070005
0x80070005 error. (See attached document for error messages)
Don't know what this means. Worked the first time I plugged it in. Now everytime I plug it in, I get this error above with some Chinese (?) writing. Can not find the part number on the Toshiba support page. Only PH2100U-1EWL which sends me to FAQ page that is no help.
If I click on the icon then I get this error.
(see attached file for picture)
I have access to the files. Just can not backup.

I upgraded my OS in October to Windows 8 Pro w/Media Center, but I haven't really noticed any issue with the Toshiba HDD until now. My computer failed to recognize it at all, so I disconnected it and used my wife's Win 7 system to scan it for viruses and do an error check. Then plugged it back into the Win 8 system and now am able to see the drive listed in the file explorer. However, trying to run Pocket Data Backup does not work at all.

Are there any drivers for Pocket PC and NI USB-6008 available?
Hello everybody,
I alraedy read that there are no drivers for Pocket PC available to communicate with NI USB-6008 or other USB devices using LabView PDA Module. The reason is that most Pocket PCs have no USB host functionality. It's a pity, because I'm using a e800 Toshiba PDA that provides USB host functionality.
Furthermore I'm already using several NI USB-6008/6009 within applications developed with LabWindows and I would rather reuse these devices than byuing new ones like NI CF-6004. Perhaps NI offers a driver for Pocket PC - that would be nice.
Does anybody share my opinion or have some suitable solutions?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely
MarioHello Mario,
we are aware that the usage of the USB port on PDA devices is a feature that becomes more and more important. But at the moment we do not support it. Unfortunately we do not have an NI-VISA driver for PDA which is used for the USB devices on the PC side.

How can I repair Vista system files with only a Toshiba recovery disc??
I have pretty much come to the conclusion that the reason I can't install Vista service pack 2 is due to some corrupt vista files. I ran the program that checks that system files and it said some are corrupt. There are some things I can't do, like turn on the Windows firewall even from that special adminostrar screen, or if I schedule a check disc scan, when I reschedule it for start up, it doesn't do it at startup. I had a Red Screen about a year ago, and it did a bunch of stuff and at the end, it said you had a major event and contact your administartor. Well, I am the administartor, lol. Anyway, it worked fine and I attribute these problems to that event.
Vista discs come with a repair option. All I have is the Toshiba disc that lets you reinstall the Toshiba and Vendor applications OR reformat the hard drive. I am not going to spend days trying to get my system back to where it is by tracking down everything I have installed especially when its working. Is there a work around? I will buy a Vista Home Premium disc if I have to before refortmatting. I have an x205-S9349 with Vista Home Premium. THANKS!Satellite X205-S9349

Blue screen of death on Toshiba P755-S5375 with ADOBE ENCORE CS6
I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Adobe Master Collection CS6. I purchased the laptop for video capture and editing, as well as for blu-ray authoring.
Unfortunately, although the computer and software works fine for video capture and editing, I am unable to author a blu-ray. For authoring, I am using Adobe’s Encore CS6. After checking and previewing my creation, I attempt to build to disc using Encore. About 2 seconds after clicking the build disc in Encore, I get the “blue screen of death” (BSOD). This happens every time I try to build to blu-ray (only blu-ray has this issue; I am able to build to a DVD). I am using an external blu-ray drive on USB 3.0.
I am using Encore version 6.0.0.492
Here are the blu-ray drive specs:

We need to know the Stop code on the blue screen. If there is a file name mentioned, we want that too.
You can prevent the rapid disappearance of the blue screen during a normal boot by choosing this at the F8 Startup menu.

Toshiba 19CV100U 110v-220v?
Hi Toshiba!
I have very quick question, i bought my 19CV100U in the US and now i returned to Europe, do i need get a voltage converter in order to use the Tv or not? I can't see any info in the TV specs that´s why i decided to post here.
Thanks
HugoIt does not need a transformer. The transformer is built in to the iMac. It accepts 100-240v AC, 50-60Hz input (which covers most of the world).
All you need is an adapter to fit your US power lead's plug to whatever outlet socket type is used at your destination. That is just an inert, pass-through pin adapter. No transformer.
