Toshiba Encore WT8-A-103 - Jumping circles/points on the screen

Hi all,
one strange issue that seems to happen quite often with my Toshiba Encore WT8-A-10:
some jumping (mostly filled) circles/points or spots on the display. Firstly, always arranged in a straight line (both holding the tablet in landscapeor portrait mode). Today more than one line was affected.
Once this happened after starting the tablet and those jumping things resulted in keystrokes when I had to enter the password for my outlook.com account. I tried to start Taskmanager when this happened today, but this affect seems to be using quite some processor power, so I could not start Taskmanager. Also, when switching from the Desktop to the Start screen in W8.1, all of the tiles are kind of zoomed out, and I cannot use the touchscreen to scroll around and open programs. Since this was going on for some minutes without getting better, I had to press the power button for some seconds to perform a restart of the tablet.
Anyone else with this strange phenomenon?
Best,
Thomas

Okay, good idea. Just took 4 pictures right after starting the tablet and entering my credentials. Take a look at those dots in about the lower third of the image. Those dots go on and out, appear on other parts of the screen and mess up with the overall performance. Know these fancy xmas lights on a tree, where one goes off, the next goes on, thus simulating a kind of "movement". That's exactly what it is. Best - Thomas

... I found an Win10 Intel platform driver v1.14 on the Lenovo website for the Thinkpad 10 tablet. Doesn't look as a dedicated Win 10 driver to me as it was already released as an WIn 8.1 driver before. This works pretty nice with the Encore as the hardware components are very similar. I removed the audio and GFX section out of the config file before starting the setup procedure as I do not want to overwrite the Dolby audio driver from Toshiba and the already installed Win10 graphics driver I found on the downloadcenter.intel.com website. Everything works nice and without any problems. Nevertheless, I wouldn't recomment this approach for the standard users out there. You need to know what you ar doing with this driver-mixture I'm pretty sure that Toshiba will release an updated platform driver pretty soon - but I don't expect significant improvements to my current configuration ... Bernd

Try holding the power and home buttons for ten to fifteen seconds until the apple appears. If still bad, try a restore from within the computer&itunes.

  • Keyboard issue with cursor jumping to point on the page when typing

When I type on my notebook keyboard (HP Pavilion dv6-6167cl) it frequently jumps somewhere else in the area where I previously typed causing me to stop and correct what it did and move back to where I intended to type.  I have the latest driver for my Synaptics Touchpad driver already.  Any idea why this happens.  This is my second laptop, different manufacturers where I've had this same problem so I'm beginning to think it's a common issue with notebooks.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    tdunnusa,
It may be inherent to the way in which you use the devices (keyboard and Touch/ClickPad).  Maybe not ... the drivers are not perfect.  We can all attest to adventures with Clickpad mystery entries..
Depending on the level of touch sensitivity (located under Pointing)
AND the level in the PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM setting, things can get a bit weird;  even touching the surface lightly can set the mouse cursor off course.
    Consider / try the following:
In your Synaptics Settings > Properties,
    Open the Pointing section,
Click on Sensitivity (to highlight) >> click on Spikey blue wheel (Sensitivity settings) >
Set the sensitivity level way over to the right side (Less sensitive)
    Apply
    Next:
Click to Open PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM  >> click on Spikey blue wheel (settings)
Slide the PalmCheck over to the RIGHT to Max
    Apply
Youcan adjust the Advanced filter zone - that is, control where  you can use the TouchPad for certain gestures and how long it takes for the zone to activate.   This can help for particular kinds of gestures, though it won't help for accidentally contact like brushing the surface with the palm of your hand.
These settings, when set to maximum, are likely too extreme - they may give you an idea whether the issue is related to how you are using the TouchPad.
    Kind Regards,

  • If you rub the edge of the fingerprint scanner in a circle, why does the screen drop down?

MY daughter was drawing circles around the metal part of the fingerprint scanner and noticed the screen contents moves to the bottom of the screen instead of the top. Then it goes back to the top when touched again. Why does it do this?

That is a feature of the 6 & 6 plus.  I believe it is called reachability.  It moves the furthest section of the screen down to allow for one handed use.

  • I have iPhoto 09 The cover of my book is cropped is perfect on screen but when I print it out it's cropped badly. There is a red exclamation point on the screen image but I have created 5 books and never had this problem. HELP

I am using iPhoto 9 to make a book. The cover of my new book looks perfect on screen, but when print it out before I have it published the cropping is all off. There is also a red exclamation point on the cover image. I have checked and rechecked but to no avail. Can you help? Bill Perlmutter

That red exclamation point can mean either that the image on the cover is below the resolution limit that Apple has set for photos to make good prints or that there is missing text in a text box or there's some text that has overflowed the text box.
The resolution limit that is set in iPhoto for photos is 110 dpi, i.e. the PrintWarningImageDPI value in this screenshot of iPhoto's preference file:
It's not an absolute thing.  Many have reported getting books that had photos with the low resolution warning indicator and it was perfectly satisfactory.
But check to see if it's an image or text warning.

  • Update to Windows 10....Yes or No...? Encore WT8-A-103

Hi All, Is updating to windows10 going to work ok with our encores, will they boot up and function afterwards? Will it erase the previous OS with all data, apps, windows office and other programs completely during the update? My Windows8 OS uses nearly 8GBs SDD, will that increase expotentialy after the update...will it double in size or something and make my encore unusable? Does Toshiba support WIndows10 on our encores? Ive had the little Windows10 icon in the corner for nearly two months and the promised 29July date is nigh...

I'm having more second thoughts about the upgrade. Specially since I read we cant turn off online updates in Windows10. Which is bad when your traveling or on a bad internet contract and windows wants to do huge updates in the background. I've registered for the upgrade a few months back but now I might cancel my registration to upgrade. It says if I cancel I wont have the opportunity to have a free upgrade to windows10 again....Is that right?
I agree with your reluctance to upgrade immediately. We certainly won't upgrade production computers for some time. But I'd like to clear up some things.
    1. Feel free to cancel your reservation at any time. Qualifying computers will be upgraded for free during the next year whether you cancel out or not.
    2. Upgrades will be far more dependable because many thousands (perhaps millions) of "Insiders" will have tested them before they are released.
    3. The computer will never restart without ample warning. You'll get a screen like this.
    4. If a computer is upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. it will be possible to defer updates. That upgrade (Pro Pack) may not be available to tablets. I don't know yet.

  • My Magic Mouse is not moving the pointer on the screen but it allows me to scroll  up and down by sliding my fingers on the mouse.

My Magic Mouse is not moving the pointer on screen. However, it is allowing me to scroll text up and down by dragging my fingers on the mouse.  How can I recover full use? I am using a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. All indications are that the mouse is connected through the Bluetooth connection and the batteries have significant life in them.

    Have you tried this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#7
Mouse does not track as expected (jittery, jumpy, slow, fast).
The Apple Wireless Mouse can be used on most smooth surfaces, however if tracking issues occur try these options:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.

  • ENCORE WT8-A520 Touch Issues

I've had TOSHIBA Encore 8" like 6 months ago.
I rolled in the Windows 8.1 Update 1 to my device, and since then the touch doesn't work properly.
It kept showing jumping circles, and after the circles shown the touch stops.
Days after, the touch was freezing completely and don't work again until I refresh the I2C HID controller driver or restart the system. Even when I did the reset to factory it was happening again.
Now, the touch keeps freezing even in the UEFI screen and in BIOS and BOOT screens so I can't control the device sometime without a keyboard and mouse.
    What to do?

Did I understand the issue correctly? The touch screen problem issue appears even setting the tablet back to factory state and using the factory preinstalled image/system?
Hmm you said that after refreshing the I2C HID Device the touchscreen worked again.
The I2C HID device driver controls the touch screen functionality and I would recommend you to access the device manger and to refresh/reinstall the driver once again.
Please also check if this touch screen issue appears only after resuming from sleep and hibernation mode.
But if factory reset doesnt solve the problem, I guess that the touchscreen could be affected.
