Toshiba "Flash Card" problem

1 out of 3 times I boot up my computer, after vista fires up I get an error that Toshiba Flash cards has a problem.  Then windows flies off to go seach for a solution and always comes back with none.
Meanwhile, while this 2 minute dance is going on, no other app can be launched.  Or, if you do launch a browser or email application, it will freeze up.
Thus far, no upgrades to Vista have solved the problem nor have any Toshiba updates.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Thanks!
Tom

hi tom!
if you already did updates, uninstalled & reinstalled toshiba utilities but still have the problem, try restarting to safemode w/ networking. download toshiba utilities again & install it on the computer. but in case you still have issue, you can disable startup & services options on system configuration utility. in Run box type msconfig. go to the services tab, click the box at the bottom that says hide microsoft services & at then click on disable all. go to startup tab & then click on disable all. close the window & it will ask you to restart the computer. this is just a workaround to isolate your computer from locking up. to undo changes, just enable services & start tab on system configuration utility following same steps above. the exact resolution for this is backing up your data & performing recovery using original recovery cd for this laptop. have a nice day! • Tecra S5-14R: Toshiba Flash Cards stops working: Runtime Error R6025

    Hi all.
    Hardware: Toshiba Tecra S5-14R
I have a problem with Toshiba Flash Cards software.
When it starts I've received an error "R6025 - pure virtual function call", and then the microsoft alert that Toshiba Flash Cards software stopped working
I'm using Windows Vista Business 32 bit OS, and I've downloaded new version of Toshiba Flash Cards software (v.2.00.05), but it doesn't solve the problem.
    Could somebody help?

    Hi
It seems that this error is known to the Microsoft support people and therefore they have published a knowledge base article.
Such error appears also if you would run the software Microsoft Money.
Please try the steps described here:
[Runtime Error: "R6025 -Pure virtual function call"|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240437]
    I would recommend doing this:
    1. Disable the Flash cards
    2. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    3. At the command prompt, type the following lines one at a time, and then press ENTER after each line:
    - regsvr32 softpub.dll
    - regsvr32 wintrust.dll
    - regsvr32 initpki.dll
    - regsvr32 dssenh.dll
    - regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
    - regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
    - regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
    - regsvr32 sccbase.dll
    - regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
    4. Enable the Flash Card Utility again

  • Toshiba flash card not responding

I have had my laptop for several years and lately I've been frequently getting the pop-up message 'Toshiba flash card not responding'. It's almost impossible to click away this message. I think there's a relationship between this and the fact that Internet Explorer is slow to start up and sometimes stops running for no good reason when I am online.
    How do I fix this?

the toshiba flash cards are the cards that appear at the top of your screen when you rollover it or when you perform a function using the FN button and any of the F keys them not functioning will not cause any problem with your internet explorer but whatever caused the Toshiba flash cards to not work might be making your IE not work

  • How to disable Toshiba Flash Cards pop-up?

    Hello!
    I have a question:
when i hover my mouse on the upper edge of the screen, a series of shortcuts for different settings appear, like Mute, Lock, Power Plan, etc...
It's really annoying when i watch movies, because i can see a thin white line in the upper edge... so i want to know if i can somehow disable these icons? so they don't appear? i don't use them anyway so...
Here's a screenshot to make it easier for you if you didn't understand my ramblings :)

    Hi
    You talk definitely about the Toshiba Flash cards and this feature can be disabled in;
Start -> All Programs -> Toshiba -> Utilities -> Settings for Flash Cards.
Check this and you will find the needed option.

  • Question about Toshiba Flash Cards

    Hello everyone,
Just a quick question. Is there any way that I can have the animation at the top of my screen turned off and STILL have the function keys functional? When I'm running multiple programs and/or on battery power, it takes forever for the animation to pop out and it's just an annoyance. Anything to fix it? Any other software to make them functional? Or any upgrades?
My system is Windows Vista, just in case someone wants to know.
    Thank you,
    Dave.

I need them because I go to university and the screen brightness and volume constantly need to be adjusted. It would just be nice to have my function keys working properly, as they should be. All of these problems I keep having with Toshiba has really made a horrible impression, and after this laptop is done, I am not buying a Toshiba product again.

  • TOSHIBA Flash Cards (AKA Hot Keys, Fn Keys) Operation

ok here is my issue, I have been searching for the last 4 hours, checking all these forums and doing everything they say with no luck at all.  My Toshiba Satillite L775D S7340 was recently rebooted to factory specs.  how ever now the FN key will not for lack of a better word, disengage.  I can't type @ or any of my special chars. up on the numbers row it auto defaults to the FN key on.  If I press FN and then the numer 2 I get a 2 and if I press FN + Shigt + 2 then I get my @ symbol but you should be able to turn this off. now yes I have gone into the bios by hitting F2 on boot and nope no setting to shut it off there.  I even went in with the HWSETUP and when I went to keyboard the ONLY option it gave me was for wake-up on keyboard.  no other options.  and hey I even went and checked to make sure I downloaded the MOST CURRENT bios and tried to install it only to get told I was currently running the most current one already. THEN I went and downloaded the FN keys utility and tried to disable it that way, nope.  I am at my wits end, please help me get this darn FN to shut off. and yes I tried FN+numlock and FM+shift+Numlock as well.... no help at all. please some one help me get this off so I can use my computer like normal people do!  it is hard, I can't even type a 1 with out haveing to get all fingers and tose involved it seems.  heck to type this out because I can't even use my space bar on the laptop I had to get another computer before I got upset. PLEASE HELP! I attached a picture of what toshiba says HWSETUP is supposed to look like, well mine doesn't have the top part at all

Jerry, look (below) what I have in my Toshiba L775D Windows 10 Device Manager under Keyboards.  I've never owned anything made by Lenovo.  Lenovo I think is the Maker of the built in mouse.  like it might be a toshiba but if you put an Nvidia graphics card in it, it is still a Toshiba laptop.  I know Toshiba doesn't make the ram that is used or the hard drive. What I think it happening is that the drivers for the mouse are over laying and it is causing confusion. each part might have it's own manufacture so that might e who made this mouse or the best driver for the mouse is that driver.  Though it does say Snyaptics TouchPad Driver on the website.  I don't know, all I know is I did those steps as pointed out and my issue is resolved, agian have to do it each time a windows update is done but it does fix my issue and allows me to use the keyboard normally.  Take from it what you will......

Hi, I had a similar issue on Sat Pro A200 PSAE7E. wrote to Toshiba support and got the following reply (in July) - never heard from them again but the older Canadian version worked for me:
Thank you for emailing Toshiba regarding your issue with Toshiba Flashcards.
The issue you have highlighted is currently being investigated by our level 3 team because unfortunately, you are not the only customer affected by this problem.
The only alternative we can currently suggest is to download and install the Flashcard Utility update from our website in Canada. This has been found to resolve the issue in most cases. The web link for this update can be found here:

  • Qosmio X870-15D and Win8.1 - popup message "Flash Cards Test Version"

    Hi eveyone !
Since I updated my X870-15D native Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, I get a popup message telling : "+*TOSHIBA Flash Cards*+ (title) +*Win8-TestVersion*+" and two buttons "OK" and "Cancel", each time I boot up ; whatever button I clic, the popup disappears
How can I get rid of that irritating popup please ?

You could try to uninstall the applications from Win 8.1 system but Im not quite sure if this would be helpful.
Fact is that Win 8.1 upgrade should be done using special step by step instruction. In case you will not follow this instruction, some software parts might not work properly.
By the way: In case you have problem only with the Flash Cards Support Utility, I would recommend you to uninstall this Flash Cards Support Utility (also called TOSHIBA Function Key Utility) from the system. After notebook reboot, download the TOSHIBA Function Key Utility for Win 8.1 and install it again.

  • Something wrong with my Flash Cards

I had an error previously and to fix it I had to disable all services and perform a clean boot something and enable all the services in msconfig. However, when I did it an error occured with Toshiba Flash Cards on my Windows 7 64-bit. Before I'd just press the keys F2 to F12 (without pressing FN) and the flash cards would appear and the job would be done. To not use the Flash cards, that is if I wanted to rename a file I'd have to hold FN and press F2, if I just pressed F2, brightness would decrease. But now, I can rename a file by just pressing F2 and to alter the brightness I have to hold FN and then press F2. Also, the flash cards do not pop out and appear. Previously they would but not now. So when I have to turn off wifi, it is practically a hit and trial method because I cant see the flash cards. Is there any way of fixing this?

Post your problem in the non-USA forums. And provide the entire part number so they can look up the computer.

  • Runtime error R6025 message after log on to Vista - Flash Card not working

    Hi
I'm a newbie & would appreciate any advice.
I am getting a runtime error message R6025 when I log on to Windows Vista.
When I click out of the box I then get a message saying Toshiba Flash Card not working.
I cancel that and my laptop is ok except I don't know if the flashcard is working or not because I don't know what it does.
    Sorry if I sound thick
    Thanks
    Neelie

    Hi
I found this MS knowledge base article:
    +Description of the R6025 run-time error in Visual C++\+
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/125749
But I doubt this description would be useful for you or anyone here. It describes this error in Visual C++ and this is programming language.
However, I think you should simply reinstall the Value Added Package which you could download firstly from the Toshiba European page.
At first you have to remove the old Value Added Package from the system, then reboot the notebook and follow with new VAP installation.
    Bye

  • Equium A100-338 - Flash Card not Responding

Everytime I close down World of Warcraft something pops up in the top left hand corner (looks like it should be a window but only top bar showing) which reads 'Toshiba Flash Card (Not Responding)'. What can I do to stop this from happening?
Im pretty sure it pops up throughout the game as well as I hear a ding.
    I have a Equium A100-338.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
a solution can be disabling the flash card service if you dont need your flash drive.
You can disable it just by following these steps:
    - Go into Start -> settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
    - Make a right click on "Smart Card" and left-click on "Properties"
    - In the window which pops up you have to stop the service and disable it with choosing "Disabled" at the option "Startup Type"
After that your flashdrive service is disabled and you wont get that annoying errormessage anymore.
    (I hope so :O )

  • Problem with Plugging in Compact Flash Card

I am having a problem now when I plug my compact flash card in to download pictures.  When I plug the card in, the AutoPlay window pops up, as it always does.  However, I also get another window that pops up and says "Lightroom must quit because catalog named Lightroom Catalog.lrcat is not writeable and cannot be opened.   This could be caused by incorrect permissions or because another Lightroom application is using the catalog.  You may select a different catalog the next time you run Lightroom  by holding down the control key while Lightroom launches."
This problem started yesterday.  I had just upgraded to LR 3.5 the day before the problem started.
    Couple of other things:
    1.  Lightroom was not launched at the time I plug in the card and this problem has occurred.   In fact, I just restarted my system a shortwhile ago to test this problem, and it happened again.
    2.  My Lightroom catalog is actually called Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat, not Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.
    3.  I have never had my system set up to automatically launch Lightroom when my card is plugged in.
    4.  I have not actually downloaded any pictures from a card for about 2 weeks before I did yesterday, so I cannot say for certain whether or not LR 3.5 is the cause of the problem and perhaps something else is.  But the fact is that I did upgrade to LR 3.5 a few days ago.
    5.  Once I close both the AutoPlay window and the LR dialogue window, I can launch LR 3.5 with no problem and import pictures as I normally do.
