Toshiba hardware set up

After reserving the windows 10 upgrade, I received a message that said the app developers haven't made these apps compatible for windows 10. They are talking about the Toshiba Hardware set up.  Check with the developers for support.Does this mean  I have to download something to make my computer compatible, from Toshiba, or is it even possible to make it compatible.  I have windows 7 , sevice pack 1.  Should I try to upgrade to windows 10 anyhow, or will it mess my computer up?

What computer do you have? Check the label on the bottom for the model and part numbers.

  • HD Hardware Set Up query

I've been dragged kicking and screaming into the world of HD video editing after years of working happily with DV Pal.
I'm on a hugely steep learning curve as far as codecs and working with the right hardware set up is concerned and would really appreciate a bit of help so I can get on with the creative side of editing.
I currently have an old G5 and a Macbook Pro. The Macbook Pro is what I'm using to edit to (advanced rough cut stage) my new project on (a 75 minute low budget doco destined for cinema release) - but it's clear to me my current hardware can't cope. The Macbook pro is a couple of years old (silver not black keyboard) - 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with about 15GB free on the hard drive. I've upgraded the RAM to 4GB and have the footage which is a mixture of ProRes 422 (Proxy) HDV, AVCHD and XF300 native on 2 Lacie 800 1TB drives connected via firewire. I've ordered a SATA card so I can link those drives via cables to the Macbook Pro. My suspicion is these drives aren't fast enough - so that's my first question. At present I get a realtime delay when skipping quickly through footage - stuttery playback.
I'm willing to invest up to £4,000 in new hardware for this project which I would really like to include a screen. I'm considering a new top of the range iMac but don't want to compromise for the future. If I go down the iMac route - how can a get lightening fast drives to work with it - and how should they be connected? Obviously for my budget, a Mac Pro is going to be pushing it.
I'm utterly confused by what I've read about RAIDs - I just cannot find a clear explanation of how these work - how I should set it up etc. At present I've only got one back up of my XF300 cards on a 1TB drive and feel really vulnerable without good old tapes - so feel a mirrored drive might be a good way to go - but then worry that it will slow my system down.
Basically, I just want to be able to edit in the way I did with DVPal without the constant worry of losing footage and my system not being able to cope. If it means upping my budget (by another £1000 or so - then so be it).
I know these kind of questions are annoying as there's been to be the answers out there somewhere - but I'm really up against it and so any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers for now,
    Ant

the footage which is a mixture of ProRes 422 (Proxy) HDV, AVCHD and XF300
Well for starters, what are your sequence settings? ProRes Proxy, HDV, what? Also, you can't work with AVCHD natively, so what did you convert it to? ProRes?
My suspicion is these drives aren't fast enough
FW800 shouldn't be too much of a drag for straight cutting with those codecs, unless you're piling on filters etc. eSATA will be a boost, certainly, but I don't see that the drives are the real problem (unless they're 5400rpm rather than 7200+).
The iMac vs. Mac Pro question is thought out pretty well here:
    http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/mcurtis/story/newquad_cores_imac_or_macpro/
Those are the questions you need to answer-- mostly the one on expandability, as that's the big difference between the two in the end. If it's important to you, but you can't afford the new models, you might consider a used Mac Pro over a new iMac.
Best to just do some Googling on RAIDs and research from there. The bottom line is that they offer either a) data redundancy (protection) with the same speed, or b) increased speed with no redundancy. Or both redundancy and speed, but then things start getting expensive.

  • Sat A200-1AE: Toshiba Hardware Utility - "the serial number is invalid"

    Dear Sirs,
I install Vista Business to my A200-1AE (originaly it was Home Primium). I install all drivers exept TOSHIBA Hardware Setup Utility . Then i try to install it is says "the serial number is invalid"
Can some one help how to install it and what can be a problem?

What I did - I walk thru the original drivers that were added on the cd with Home Vista.
I found out that Toshiba Hardware Utility version is 1.48.0.8c, it is not the same as it is on a download drivers presented by toshiba for downloading v.1.48.0.9c.
1.48.0.9c - this is the version wich didnt want to be instaled -"Serial number is incorrect". So i found it in the net and install 1.48.0.8c
Plus it was mentioned that all drivers from the beginning have to be installed in order - given by toshiba, but by number 8 it was mentioned *TI Multiple Digital Media card Reader* - only after Jeffrey msg i found out that it is the same ->Flash Media Driver - the one i was installing right after Flash card Support utility - since i coudnt figure out what they mean by T*I Multiple Digital Media card Reader*.
I tryed it on my girlfriend notebook and it worked.
Right now I will try it on my Notebook - after usefull help by you Jimi regarding incorrect ROM size i will try it and let you knoiw if it worked.
I just dont understand why it is important to install drivers in the strick order + different versions appears.
One more thing, I have a problem with Robson Package - it is all the time against me -no instalation :-( but it is appears with the rest of drivers presented by toshiba for my model.

  • Question: best Hardware set-up for final cut univ. and mac pro

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has used final cut universal with their mac pro and can recommend a hardware set-up (Processors, memory... ) they found best adapted for it.
    my mac pro:
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
    thank you
MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Final Cut Studio/video editing requires all four parts of a system…
    1) Processor performance
    2) GPU performance
    3) RAM
    4) Hard drive performance
… to be working in tandem. If any one of these areas a caught short then the system as a whole is disproportionately affected. It's one of the downsides to video is that everything needs to be working as well as it can.
So, what I would recommend for you is the following setup as your goal is something like…
    Mac Pro 2.66GHz
    6GB RAM (4 x 1GB + 4 x 512MB - I'm presumng you already have the 4 x 512MB)
ATi X1900 XT graphics card (or better - depneds on what's available at the time)
2 x Western Digital Raptor 150GB RAID 0 for boot and scratch
2 x Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500GB RAID 0 for data
Any further eSATA storage requirements for cloning, backup and data
    Not cheap but should scream.

  • PSE 10 both Organizer and Editor crash on multi-core hardware; set affinity to single cpu mode fixes

As I have noted in thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/941128 I have found that both the editor and the organizer for PSE 10 crash in a multi core environment, I am running WIndows 64 bit, latest updates (includes sp1), I had the same problems with Windows 7 32 bit.
Solution is to set the affinity to a single cpu.  From the task manager, select the 'processes' tab, find the exe (eg PhotoshopElementsOrganizer), right-click, select 'Set affinity...' and reduce the number of CPUs selected (checked) to exactly one.  (Under different versions of Windows the exact means for doing this varies, but the essential steps are the same).  It doesn't matter which cpu you select, but if you do both the Editor and the Organizer, put them on different CPUs.
Given that pretty well all hardware these days is multi-core, my assumption is that Adobe test in a virtualized environment and so do not discover this type of unreliabillity.  Adobe really do need to test their software more thoroughly as the exact same problem existed in PSE 6, so it is hardly new to them.

The solution is in the above.
Should Adobe read this, they should take note that a virtualized environment does not provide a decent fidelity emulation of multi-core CPU systems.  The ONLY way to test the reliability of an application is on REAL hardware.

  • Older Toshiba Hardware and Drivers for Coming Windows 10 Release

Toshiba Qosmio F60Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium Hi All Long time Toshiba user here and very happy with the products I have purchased I must say. These for me personally have always been very reliable pieces of hardware. With the upcoming release of Windows 10 on July 29th I am wondering if their will be device drivers made available for those of us still running older Toshiba models? I am currently being notified that a reserve copy of Windows 10 is available for me through Windows Update and am currently considering the transition, although I am somewhat hesitant to move away from Windows 7 which for me is quite familiar and a reliable OS. My main concern here is that I would still obviously want ALL of my devices to work without issue and am wondering what Toshiba's stance is on supporting those who take this path. My Qosmio F60 is still a fantastic machine and runs without issue and with this being the case I am not about to purchase a newer model just that I can replace an OS which works well but is at some stage going to lose support and be outdated/superceded by Windows 10. Can anyone explain in simple terms what the ramifications would be in completing the upgrade in relation to support for drivers from Toshiba please? I apologise if this information is already available and would appreciate if anyone could direct me towards the relevant information if that is in fact the case. Thanks.

Most Windows 7 machines should be upgradable to Windows 10. However, I can't say all, and this list is finalized. We don't have an official announcement at this time, but I wanted to share what I know.
With out of warranty machines, as most Windows 7 models are, if you do run into problems, I can't guarantee you'll be able to get every device working. Even if the laptop works fine with Windows 10, it's possible that some accessories could be incompatible.
Many Windows 10 drivers will be offered by Windows Update, but we'll be posting some soon.

  • What's a good hardware set up for a solo musician? USB pedal USB keyboard audio interface MIDI interface?

I am new to Main Stage. I have not bought any hardware interfaces yet because I don't know what will be the most flexible in the long run. I would be using the Main Stage's innate synths and keyboards, drums, an acoustic/electric guitar, bass, harmonicas and vocals. What type of hardware would you recommend? MIDI/USB keyboards? MIDI interface? Audio interface? USB pedal board controllers?
Would guys help me with specific suggestions and pointer on how I can make a good choice based on my needs?
    much thanks!
    Fabio.

Then below this is the recording level slider which is all the way to the left or at 0. This is where the problem lies I think as this slider is greyed out and cannot be moved!

  • Satellite X200-252 - Toshiba hardware utility - cant launch under Win7

I have installed HW utility, I can see its icon in Toshiba Assist but it doesnt launch. I see in task manager process "control.exe" appears for a sec. I tried launch it as admin, tried with vista compatibility but no luck. Anybody has it working under Win 7?

You have installed Vista version of Toshiba HW Settings?
I don't know if this will help but try to remove preinstalled version from the system and try to install Win7 version for other notebook model like Satellite P300. Maybe it will work.
Problem is that Win7 drivers, tools and utilities are not available for your notebook model.

  • Working With Logic Song Files in Multiple Hardware Set-ups

    Hi all,
If anyone can help with this, I'd really appreciate it.
I am working on some music that I am leaving on my laptop. When in my home studio, I will handle audio I/O through my MOTU 828 MkII, with a PC-300 MIDI keyboard.
When on the move, I will edit and overdub with using the computer's soundcard and a portable MIDI keyboard.
My question is, are there any tips I should know about for making such an approach work smoothly?
I find that the system sometimes makes alerts and small errors based on the lack of the hardware that was connected that last time it was opened.
Perhaps there is a better way of approaching this that I am not aware of?
    Many thanks!
    Scott

There is absolutely nothing to worry about, when Logic gives you a warning that an audio setup has changed. Just click OK and keep going. As for MIDI keyboards, I suppose, they are usually automatically detected (provided you have their drivers installed on your system).
If you happen to work in different MIDI setups with, say, various different synths and drum-machines used, you can make 2 different Environments with all necessary objects configured, and save them in respective User Templates.

  • Toshiba Television Set-Up

I need assistance in getting my mother's television set-up. I'm not located in the same community and I must rely on Best Buy to help her, but they are not responding to her. She is 84 years old...she bought the TV after Christmas, but she did not have the money for the cables (I'm just finding out about this), so she waited to set it up. I'm not sure what the problems are, but I feel that she is not getting the customer service she needs. I know she is difficult to deal with because if her age and her lack of technology experience. This is no excuse for poor customer service. She has spoken with the store manager and has not gotten any help. She has been trying now for two weeks to set this up on her own. As I said, I must rely on Best Buy, since I'm not located close to her. What is the name and phone number of the district manager for Best Buy in Springfield, MO. Thank you.

What computer do you have? Check the label on the bottom for the model and part numbers.

  • Can the same iphone be used to develop on two different mac hardware sets?

My co-worker and I are both developing iPhone code. I am the only one around with an iPhone. A couple of questions:
1.) It is possible for him to use my iphone to test his code (with HIS mac), then I do the same on MY mac. Will this conflict? Will iTunes freak?
2.) If we were to purchase another iphone, we'd prefer not to get a contract (which Apple makes you do). Can we use an unlocked phone, or an ATT phone purchased on eBay (assuming there is no current subscription).
We are running identical OSx versions. I have and air, he has a pro.
    Thanks!

Nevermind! The answers are all in the apple signup process. Sorry bout that.

  • Satellite A200 - annoying vibration

Just recently got an Satellite A200-27R from comet. Laptop is working fine but the level of vibration transmitting through to the keyboard and palm rest is very annoying.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem with this model?
I guess it's down to the Fujitsu HD, but just wondered if anyone had a remedy for it as it's a real hassle returning it to comet with everything extra installed and all the rubbish uninstalled!

Hi, the hard disk is located under the palm rest on the right hand side. Vibration transmits through the palm rest. It was terrible in the first A200 that I got.....that's why I took it back as it was obviously faulty. There is still slight vibration on the new A200. It is worse than other laptops I've used, but maybe you are just used to it now and accept it...or you are lucky and have an A200 without any vibration at all.
The fan on the first A200 ran in very fast short blasts. The fan in this one never reaches the same speed, therefore it has to be on for much longer periods to be as effective. Now, can you tell me why 2 laptops that are supposed to be exactly the same obviously aren't?
The crash that occurs when trying to access Toshiba Hardware setting is due to an outdated driver being supplied with the laptop...the graphic driver needs to be updated to cure this problem.
It may sound to you that I am complaining about little things, but I bought a Toshiba expecting it to be a good build quality. I can only make a direct comparison with the Gateway that I have here and unfortunately the Gateway is a much quieter machine.

  • "Invalid serial number" when installing Toshiba utilities on NB200-13J

This model (13J) is the government-sponsored student edition used by thousands of Greek pupils and is not listed in the Support downloads.
I made a new partition and installed XP SP3 Pro, in addition to the standard XP Home. I downloaded all the drivers for the model number printed on the sticker (PLL25E-00401WMG, which I assume corresponds to NB200-122 in the Driver Downloads).
Most of the important Toshiba utilities (Hardware Setup, Hotkey, Value Added Logical Device) terminate with the error "Wrong serial number".
Given that the Toshiba utilities work fine in the standard (old) installation,
    1. Is there a way to bypass the serial number checking for the installation of Toshiba utilities?
    2. Are there specific Toshiba downloads for NB200-13J ?

I apologise for the long post, but I am afraid that sooner or later other users of NB200 will (stumble on the same issues.)
Dear Timox, thank you for this interesting scenario, and let me offer my first thoughts. I have already seen this theme of installation sequencing in the forums, and my sequence was about the same - first non-Toshiba stuff and then Toshiba stuff.
You and other forum members say that the order is "very important" and of course I'd like to know *why* the order is important. A possible answer would be that each utility expects something else already having been installed. If this was the case, i.e. that users should follow a linear sequence of installation, wouldn't it be very easy for the developers to embed error messages in each utility like "please install utility X first and retry installation"?. In the same line of thought, developers could have bundled everything in one big executable and offer it for use in clean installation scenarios. If the "why" of the specific sequence is not stated explicitly, the "importance" of installation sequence still remains in the realm of magic.
Having said all that, I deleted the windows installation and started anew.
Non-Toshiba stuff in the beginning of your list were ok (I do them the same way for some 15 years now).
ConfigFree was the first in your list to misbehave, issuing the infamous in these forums message "This program only works on a Toshiba System". When I saw this I knew I was doomed. This error a1lone is sufficient for me to claim that the "importance of installation order" is a myth, and that this and the other Toshiba utilities listed below do not recognise my machine.
    Here are my results:
TOSHIBA Configfree - This program only works on a Toshiba System
On reboot, and on any reboot, Configfree presents the same message.
TOSHIBA Hotkey - The serial number is invalid.
TOSHIBA Hardware setup - The serial number is invalid.
    Toshiba Zooming utility - OK
Toshiba Zooming utility driver - OK
TOSHIBA Password Utility - The serial number is invalid
    Toshiba Fn-esse - OK
TOSHIBA Accessibility - The serial number is invalid
TOSHIBA Touchpad On_Off - The serial number is invalid
    TOSHIBA Power Saver - OK
TOSHIBA Power Saver Driver - OK
On reboot (and in all subsequent reboots) I get
"A fatal error has occurred. The program has terminated. code: 0x47F
    PC Diagnostics - OK
    Running PCDiag gives the following:
    Model Name: Unknown
    Part Number: Unknown
    Serial Number: Unknown
    Serial Number: Unknown
    OS Version: Unknown
    BIOS Version: Unknown
    Physical Memory: Unknown
Testing CPU and Memory gives PASS results.
    SD Memory Utilities - OK
    HDD Protection - OK
3G, Driver RF, Wireless manager & Network Device ID Registry Setting Tool - not applicable for NB200-13J
TOSHIBA Value Added Logical device - NOT in your list and from what I read, very vital for NB200, does not install at all, as if the file were damaged. I had to manually decompress setup.exe and run the resulting DPInst.exe, after which TVALD says it installed fine.
This completes the clean installation saga.
Now, checking the Services, only Toshiba Bluetooth is listed.
Checking running processes with Sysinternals Process Explorer, I see the following Toshiba-related running processes:
CFSvcs - Service of Configfree (supposedly "only working for Toshiba systems" and not mine!!!)
ThpSrv.exe - TOSHIBA HDD Protection Service
    TosBtSrv.exe - TOSHIBA Bluetooth Service
ZoomingHook.exe - TOSHIBA Zooming utility Hotkey Hook
    Smoothview.exe - Smoothview (by TOSHIBA)
TosBTMng.exe and under it another 6 Bluetooth-related processes
    _Preliminary conclusions and alternative theories:_
    1. My windows may be missing some service(s), prerequisite for the Toshiba utilities, or there is a specific mandatory locale/configuration to be used when installing them, or MSDN OSs are not compatible, etc etc XP-related dark matter.
    2. NB200-13J is not compatible with the utilities.
    3. My EEPROM contents were somehow corrupt (from what I read many Tosh laptops suffer from this) and I need to reprogram them with the DMI Update Utility (see e.g. http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/7011-toshiba-notebook-dmi-updates-for-wrong-error-message/) or with special startup disks (from what I read, not yet issued for the NB200 series)
    4. I am missing a non-public Toshiba utility/driver, provided only to major vendors (and not to end customers) in order to customise their windows pre-installations.
    5. Some conspiracy theory, like the one saying that Toshiba Corporation succumbs to pressures from Microsoft Corporation to poison or kill XP in laptops/netbooks (...)
    6. I am using the wrong fairy stardust.
_Next step_: I'll compare the services and processes running on the original windows with the ones on the clean installation and see what is missing.
In the meantime, any more ideas would be greatly appreciated... (to be continued!)

  • How can we get Apple to do a better job on iCal? Now we can't even specify snooze times. Please give us the flexibility we need--minute, hour, day, week, month, year alerts that we can set for each event we add to our calendar.

I'm liking Mountain Lion a lot so far, except for the new iCal performance. iCal has never been as good as the MS Office calendar, not even as good looking  much less flexible and, for me at least, a lot less intuitive. And that points to another big problem Apple's increasing totalitarianism has created: I would change back to the MS Office calendar in a micro-second if it weren't for the fact that Apple has never created a way for us to coordinate our iPhones with the Office calendar. My life with Apple goes back to the birth of the Mac and it at once gives me chuckles and fits of righteous indignation that for decades Apple criticized (and sued) Microsoft for its attempts to channel users of its products to other MS products by making 'third party' products not work well with MS software. There's a lot of truth to the idea that Apple is becoming a bully in its steady insistence on giving us fewer and fewer ways of putting together software and hardware sets that we think are the best for us. Whatever happened to Apple's free spirit!?!?!?!?
I can do all the whinging above because Apple has always built exceptional products and because even now its service performance is fifty times as good as any other company I do business with.  If you doubt that, just try to get any kind of support from Microsoft.

No point in whinging here, we are all just users. Use Apple feedback.

  • Blue screen of death on Toshiba P755-S5375 with ADOBE ENCORE CS6

I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Adobe Master Collection CS6.  I purchased the laptop for video capture and editing, as well as for blu-ray authoring.
Unfortunately, although the computer and software works fine for video capture and editing, I am unable to author a blu-ray.  For authoring, I am using Adobe’s Encore CS6.  After checking and previewing my creation, I attempt to build to disc using Encore.  About 2 seconds after clicking the build disc in Encore, I get the “blue screen of death” (BSOD).  This happens every time I try to build to blu-ray (only blu-ray has this issue; I am able to build to a DVD).  I am using an external blu-ray drive on USB 3.0.

We need to know the Stop code on the blue screen. If there is a file name mentioned, we want that too.
You can prevent the rapid disappearance of the blue screen during a normal boot by choosing this at the F8 Startup menu.
Disable automatic restart on system failure
