Toshiba - I cannot run Recovery DVDs successfully

I appreciate if somebody can help me to solve my problem as explained below.
My Toshiba laptop L650 developed some problems that is when I decided to resotore to its original form by running Recover DVDs which I created earlier using Toshiba Tempro.  Unfortunately, recovery process did not complete and I got error message which says "Boot manager missing", screen became black and I could not start my laptop.  Another bad news is that my HDD was formatted and I loose all my data in C&D drives.
Also I would like to know if recovery CD/DVDs do back up of C&D drives data.
How can I run recovery DVDs successfully?

Hi
I dont think that the hacker or the virus is responsible for non CD drive booting. I cant believe it. In my opinion if the drive cannot read the CD so possibly the CD is corrupt or the drive has a malfunction.
However, in my opinion you should be able to enter the BIOS. As mentioned above you can use the ESC and then F1 to enter the Toshiba BIOS. But if there is a Phoenix BIOS preinstalled so you have to use the F2 key. You have to press this buttons immediately after pressing the power button.
On my notebook I can also use the F12 key and the booting menu appears.
Then I can use the arrow buttons to select the booting device.
If you are not able to boot from the recovery CD so try to boot from the original Microsoft Windows CD.
Possibly it helps. Good luck :|

  • Cannot make Recovery DVDs for the G580 with Windows 8

I notice that Windows 8 Notebooks are no longer being sold with Licenses affixed to the underside.  So if anything goes wrong (e.g. we have to replace the HDD at a later date)  we cannot just use a Windows 8 disk to restore the operating system.
This means it is important to make sure we have recovery DVDs.
With previous versions One Key Recovery had an option to make restore DVDs - it misses that option with Windows 8.
Phoned Lenovo support who said that we should make the DVDs through the Windows Backup system, which again is fine but on both Lenovo's I have tried it on Windows 8 cannot make a backup to DVD.  Also even if we could make the windows backup or system repair disks they would not allow a complete factory restore to a brand new HDD.
How do we make Recovery DVDs that would be bootable and would restore the Operating System to a brand new HDD if the worst should happen and the existing HDD suffered unrecoverable failure?  So far the only option that has come up from my various phonecalls is "buy a set of recovery discs for £25-£35 .... which would be a bit unfair having only had this 2 days.

    thanks for the feedback.
Could you please check out the following link and see if it contains a possible solution, I am aware it states only Think products in the compatability list but there are "cross-over" points where something could be of relevance to other Lenovo products.

    Hi,
The seller told you a good advice. You should do it. I recommend you to try a high quality dvd-r medias like Verbatim or Tdk. You see, dvd creator doesn't accept ,,low quality,, medias.

  • Running Recovery DVD Win8 pro, keyboard doesn't work

    hello,
i've got thinkCentre E93 with win 7 pro instaled, and i'm trying to recover win 8, using "recovery Media for Windows 8 products", which was in my computer's box.
After rebooting computer with this DVD:
    - it starts to load files,
    - Lenovo Recovery and Restore 4.0 starts,
    - pops up a window to  choise language,
    - keyboard and mouse fail, i'm not able to make any move, exept from turning of the computer.
I've tryed wired, and wireless keybords, they work in Win 7, and in BIOS, but not with Recovery media. any clues?
I'don't have .iso of Win 8 prof to install it direcly.

    Dear podjaadek
During the popup windows to language selection, disconnect keyboard and mouse and reconnect again. If still does not work, wait for few second or try to connect to other ports.

I thought the DVD would wipe everything off the hard drive???

Recovery disc and recovery procedure cannot be used under running operating system.
When you switch your notebook on press F12 button to enter boot menu, put the recovery disc in optical disc drive, choose CD/DVD drive in menu and press Enter.
Recovery procedure will start. Just follow the menu on the screen.
Before you do this back up all your important data.

  • Help! job scheduled in DB13 cannot run successfully

Hi! I am a basis administrator of an automobil company.
Job scheduled in DB13 in our PRD system cannot run successfully.
We have Central instance(ci) and Database instance(db) installed on seperated hosts. We use SUN cluster 3.1 technology.
The problem occurs after my college restarted the whole system accidentally. After that, all the job scheduled in DB13 report the same error, job log looks like:
    Job started
Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000192, user ID ***)
No application server found on database host - rsh will be used
Execute logical command BRCONNECT On host orahost
    Parameters: -u / -c -f check
    BR801I BRCONNECT 6.20 (113)
BR252E Function fopen() failed for '/oracle/PR1/sapcheck/cduuoiij.chk' at location main-8
BR253E errno 2: No such file or directory
I manually type the 'rsh' command on ci to invoke 'brconnect' on db. It works all right. And I check the rfc destination 'SAPXPG_DBDEST_ORAHOST' in sm59 , it's normal. There is no gateway instance on database server.
The parameter 'SAPDBHOST' = orahost (the database server is  called orahost)
the parameter 'SAPLOCALHOST' = cihost(the central instance is located on cihost)
    Any suggestion is very appreciated.
    Thx!

    Hi Joe,
DB13 will run only on application server as for that matter any SAP program. It will then connect to database at OS level. I mean you normal reports also fetch data from database for which they have to connect to DB  but they all run on application server. The problem is coming in connection to database through the application layer.
Please again review the OSS notes sent by Sunil and me. I think a greater focus on Sunil`s notes should help you out.

  • HP System Recovery DVD Won't Run

Hi.  I currently use an HP Pavilion DM4, 3090se, which runs Winows 7.  I went to turn on my computer last week and instead of starting normally, got the Windows Boot Manager screen stating that Windows failed to start.  To fix the problem it says that I must insert the Windows installation disc and restart to repair the computer.
I did not have any Windows installation discs so I ordered the System Recovery DVD's from the HP Support Site.  I've inserted the first disc and started up my computer only to get the Windows Boot Manager again upon start up.  Inserting the Recovery DVD's seems to have no effect.  I tried inserting the second disk and the Application and Driver Recovery DVD to see if anything different happened but that was to no avail.
I did not have any issues with my computer prior to this happening and do not know what the cause may be.  I am hoping for some insight on what I can do to resolve this before I have to just send my computer in to HP.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    You're more than welcome
In case the problem is with the notebook reading the installation disc, here's another possible option you could try as detailed below.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create Windows 7 installation Flash Drive yourself using another PC.  Download the Image file on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder - the Windows 7 image source is Digital River ).  You'll need a usb flash drive that is at least 4Gb.
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit.
Once downloaded, use an application such as Rufus to create a Windows 7 bootable usb flash drive.
When created, tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Insert the Windows 7 flash drive.  Select the Boot Options menu ( f9 ).  Use the arrow keys to highlight the flash drive and hit enter.
During the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Additional drivers and software you may need for your notebook can be found Here.

Hello i have l50-A series satelite laptop.
    I had windows 8.
Recently i installed windows 8.1 from dvd. (oem), and just in case, i did not touch recovery partition to use it later.
Right now i want to use recovery partition for the factory reset, but i cannot reach recovery partition.
    I tried pressing 0,
    I tried using boot menu,
I tried windows 8.1  recovery options... nothing works.
(also right now it seems to be multiple recovery partitions..)
I'm pretty sure factory recovery partition is healty and still stood. (seen as 10gb partition)

Toshiba uses the number 0 or f12 to reach the recovery on start up. Press the shift key when shutting down then press the number 0 or the f12 on start up, you may have to press the fn key and the 0 or f12.
Some have posted that after going to Windows 8.1 it breaks the Windows 8 recovery option so they had to use Windows 8 recovery media.

Hello all, my Satellite a105-s4054 has some corrupted xp os files.  Please advise on how to repair only these files using the recovery dvd pks included with my sytem.  I would rather not have to do a complete format and install.   And it is now obvious which of the individual files listed should be replaced to repair the corrupted files.
Is there  way to just replace the corrupted files?

  • Satellite A60: keyboard doesn't work, recovery DVD can't run

    Hello,
I have a serious problem with my A60: the keyboard doesn't work any more. I have tried a lot of solutions and the last one, recovery with the Product Recovery DVD-ROM doesn't work, because I can't use the keyboard!!
When the screen with the 3 choices appears, I have no possibility to answer!!
    Have somebody an idea???
Thanks a lot for your answer.

They keyboard might not be the problem or it might not be connected properly to the motherboard the best thing to do is take it to a service centre it shouldn't cost you anything, if it is still under warranty...but if it is just the keyboard and your laptop is out of warranty then it should cost you more than 100-200....can't say how much exactly because I have no idea.

  • Cannot start recovery installation on my Satellite A200-28P

I am trying to restore my Toshiba laptop Satellite A200-28P (Windows Vista Home) using the product recovery disk supplied with the laptop, no matter what I try to do I cannot get it to run, the only thing it will allow me to do is restore the laptop to an earlier date. I have full admin rights on the laptop, there are no virus's or any other malware on it, all this seems to have happened since it updated with windows vista about two days ago, have uninstalled the updates but that had no effect.
I cannot find the recovery console any where on the laptop yet I know it was there before. I have tried many of the solutions found on the web but none of them work. I did use the recovery disc about 2 1/2 years ago when the laptop crashed and it worked fine then.
    Any help apprecited

I cannot remember anymore how it was with A200.
Have you got recovery DVD only or you were also able to start HDD recovery installation using F8 at start up (Advanced boot options > Repair my computer)?
Anyway, your problem description confuses me.
If you use recovery DVD as bootable disc there is no repair console or some options.
When recovery installation starts you can just see menu where you must click on next.
Please check my lats posting on http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=61124
