Toshiba L500 Blue Screen crashes - Windows 7
I have a Toshiba L500-1XJ, part no. PSLS0E-07D01DEN which crashes almost immediately on loading Windows 7.
As it belonged to my son, who is now using another machine, I have restored the machine to its original state and still the machine crashes.
The blue screen of death appears with the following message:
PROCESS HAS LOCKED PAGES
STOP: 0x00000076 (0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA8004F4D060, 0x0000000000000033, 0x0000000000000000)
I am only able to access Windows in Safe mode, otherwise the machine crashes.
Microsoft Knowledge Base indicate the problem to be with a driver not cleaning up completely after an I/O operation and talks about editing the registry to find out. I am hesitant about editing the registry as I have not done this before and am not not clear about adding parameters to the registry.
Microsoft Knowledge Base states -
=====> Windows includes a registry value that you can use to save stack traces that enable you to identify the problem driver.
Note Using DriverVerifier to enable the Pool Tracking option will result in the same behavior in Vista, 2008, Win7 and 2008 R2 as setting the registry value TrackLockedPages to 1.
Use Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) to view the following registry key:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Add the following registry value, and then restart your computer:
Value Name: TrackLockedPages
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 1
Radix: hexadecimal
After you make this change, Windows saves stack traces so that you can identify the problem driver. There is no other way to determine which driver is neglecting to clean up the I/O operations. After you enable this flag, if the driver commits the error again, you see the following error message:
STOP: 0x000000CB (0xY,0xY,0xY,0xY) DRIVER_LEFT_LOCKED_PAGES_IN_PROCESS
Parameter 1 - The calling address in the driver that locked the pages
Parameter 2 - The caller of the calling address in the driver that locked the pages
Parameter 3 - A pointer to the MDL containing the locked pages
Parameter 4 - The problem driver's name (Unicode string)
The problem driver's name is listed on the blue "Stop" screen and is available for dumping again as the fourth parameter in the "Stop" data.
After you identify and update or remove the problem driver, you should remove the TrackLockedPages value from the registry.
=====>
I have run regedit, but am not confident in what to do next. Two folders are shown under Memory Management as well as a number of other files contained within the folder itself. If I highlight Memory Management and click EDIT, NEW a number of options are presented - Key; String Value; Binary Value; DWORD (32-bit) Value; QWORD (64-bit) Value; Multi-String Value; Expandable String Value
How should I proceed? Any help would be welcomed.
Thanks

Sorry, none of that helps me identify the hardware at fault.

B570 - Windows 8 - Blue screen crash & energy management error
I upgraded to windows 8 on the day it came out in the uk with no problems, some of my apps had to be reinstalled but nothing major.
the bluetooth app had to be uninstalled, never use it so not a major issue. the energy managment error just pops up on each start and i just click run without help. Seems to work fine, but would prefer for it not to have to ask me this.
Anyway everything looked to be okay and then i got the blue screen crash. Said something about a kernal crash. This has happened about every 2 days now since the install and is very annoying, just happens very randomly even when the laptop is really fast.
I spoke to lenovo's support team and they said new drivers will be installed automatically and it should resolve. It hasnt.
Was just wondering if there is any fix for this? any new drivers out that have to be installed, or bios settings anything?
Please help. ThanksSatellite C850-19Q (PSCBYE-00L00GY4) <- from Croatia

LAST WEEK STARTED GETTING A BLUE SCREEN (CRASH DUMP) AFTER CLOSING I TUNES, THAT CAUSES MY COMPUTER TO SHUTDOWN. IVE BEEN TOLD BY A PC REPAIR SHOP THAT I DONT HAVE A VIRUS. I DO HAVE ANTIVIRUS PROTECTION ON MY PC. ATTEMPED TO REINSTALL I TUNES BUT MAY NOT HAVE DONE IT CORRECTLY. I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. THE BLUE SCREEN ONLY HAPPENS WITH I TUNES. I HAVENT MADE ANY RECENT CHANGES TO MY MUSIC- NO DOWNLOADS /UPLOADS. ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS SITUATION? THANKS!!
Hey Ishland,
You are not alone. I'm getting the same thing I'm running Vista. I'm reading that Windows 8, 8.1 preview, Vista and XP.
I'm thinking this has to be a Apple update to iTunes 11.0.4.4 fix.
Cheers,
Steve

These were all Related to NETwNs64.sys Wireless WiFi Link Driver from Intel Corporation (yours is 5 years old). I would remove the current driver and install the newest driver available.
If you continue to crash Remove McAfee and use MSE in its place.

Just to summarize. I'm booting from CD. The drivers are copied across and when windows attempts to start the blue screen crash occurs.
JayHello Customer,
Thank you for using TechNet Forum, and also many thanks for Aaron's assistance.
Please note, this forum is for General questions on Windows Server 2008. I suggest you try to post Windows Server 2003 related issue to the Windows Server 2003 Newsgroup for your best serve:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/serveros/win2003.mspx
Thanks for your understanding.
Moreover, the blue screen is mostly caused by hardware or drivers incompatibility. I suggest you take a look at the following website

Blue Screen Crashes in Windows Server 2008
Our Windows 2008 server which has been running fine for several years now has started to record a series of blue screen crashes in the past week, almost daily. Our hosting company ran a chkdsk and didn't find any errors. The also ran an sfc scan which
they said identified and fixed several system files, however we are still seeing blue screen crashes.
I have put the minidump from the latest crash in my public skydrive folder at -
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=446280106bb642de#cid=446280106BB642DE&id=446280106BB642DE%21140
Can anyone help me identify the problem that is causing the blue screen crashes?
Thanks,
Gary

Blue screen crash reinstalling quicktime on notebook
Can anyone help? for a month and a half I have been trying to reinstall quicktime and itunes on my toshiba window xp laptop. Everytime I get a blue screen crash at the end of the quicktime install around where it says something like initializing quicktime types. When I submit this error to microsoft the report says it is due to Antivirus software, I am running Window onecare live. I have tried every fix I can find out there including removing onecare and I still get the crash. I really do not care to rebuild the system. Please help, I am getting tired of the music on my ipod! Thx
I have been having this "problem" since running a QuickTime update in January 2007. I've spent countless hours de-installing anti-virus software, minimizing my hardware footprint (removing printers, scanners, etc.), detoxing my system with Microsoft Uninstallers, Registry Cleaners, and running Windows XP in a minimized manner.
On Thursday April 10, 2008 I spent four hours on the telephone with a competent, qualified Microsoft XP engineer (plus an XP supervisor in the background). Microsoft was very diligent and completely hospitable working with me to resolve this issue. In the end, Microsoft recommended I talk with Apple directly.
On Friday April 11, 2008 I spent one hour with an Apple engineer. Once again, the customer service was excellent, but the results are the same. Microsoft and Apple engineers are "Befuddled". We've tried eliminating all Apple software from my PC via files and the registry, rebooting, and then attempting a fresh install. The PC reboots when "Initializing Quicktime Types" is displayed towards the end of the installation process.
We've even set up a new user and attempted to install Quicktime on a USER with no associated "software overhead". No success.
I've tried the Quicktime Only install, and Quicktime with Itunes installation. Same results. I am taking my PC to Baybrook Mall (Friendswood, Texas) on April 20 for the MAC Genius Bar people to review this problem on my PC. My expectations are very low... since I'm usually much more PC and XP competent than most people. My background occupation is Information Technology from 1975 to date. I evened owned and operated computer stores with "New Build" and "Repair" shops. I'm very seasoned working on PC's and associated software, and this is the first problem where I join the "Befuddled".
If anyone has a solution for this problem, please contact me and make a posting for everyone else.
Thanx. -
I am using an old computer but it has dual processors and 4 gb of ram. I am using Windows XP home edition, sp2 atm. I have a Galaxy 200 vid card, sound-blaster X-Fi, Gigabyte mother board. Atm, all I have is IE 6.
After the blue screen crash, I had trouble rebooting my computer. When I was able to reboot, the firefox 6.0 would not run and I could not uninstall it. I did a restore system and was finally able to uninstall it - at the time I still had the 5.0 installer on my desktop so I installed it- I don't have it now.
I tried the firefox 6.0 before I had gotten all the updates for sp3- as I have had trouble getting the last windows updates to install.
I am not a techie - what I have done is trial and error to try to get my software to work. I would either like to get a working version of firefox 6.0 or a safe download of firefox 4.0 as that worked and I had no problems with it.
Can you assist? Can you attach a screenshot or link to the instructions you are following?
You are on the 3.6 release and Firefox 7.0.1 is out. You can download and install the latest release from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ if you would like to update now. The 3.6 version will be maintained for a while longer, but you should update when you can. -

Access to istore causes blue screen crash
I am running an ipod and itouch - PC is Windows XP.
With the newest version of itunes, everything works fine between itunes on the PC and the devices, EXCEPT trying to access the store for music or podcasts. I see the headings of the store displayed, then I get a blue screen crash. This happens with the devices attached, or not.The first thing to do is get the error codes from the crash.
Here is an older post from b noir that explains how to find the error codes.

Clicking on firefox icon causes blue screen crash
This began Friday, Feb. 25, about mid day. The only changes to the system that morning were an update to an Adobe plugin, either Flash player or Shockwave, I'm not sure, and an update to the Scottrade Elite desktop trading app. Both of those changes occurred about 0900. The problems began about 1130 when the system, Windows 7 Home Premium had a blue screen crash. From that time on, I have uninstalled each of the apps mentioned. I cannot open Firefox to work on the plugins becuase every time I click on the icon I get a blue screen crash with the words "Page fault in non paged area" at the top. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the Firefox app with no apparent beneficial effect. The Scottrade trading app has been reinstalled and works well, causing no further probs.
Hello mrcart,
i think it is unlikely that firefox itself is causing an operating system crash, i had some time back an similar issue where a system of a friend of mine was crashing while using IE - thats the only app he used ... the system in his case had faulty ram, and i suspect you are facing some sort of hardware problem or faulty device driver.
Please read this (also lists steps what you can do):
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957625.aspx
(personally) I would suggest you start by checking your ram, you can do this in two ways:
Search in your Windows 7 Start Menu for "ram", you should find something like "Diagnose your computer´s memory problems"
... Or, you use the memtest86+ tool from here (e.g. download the iso, burn it and boot from the cd):
http://www.memtest.org/
Check your eventlog for errors (e.g. disk errors, timeouts, etc).
If you cannot track the problem down (i would suspect a hardware problem or faulty device driver ... e.g. it could be your video card driver doing something wrong) you should seek help at your computer manufacturer, an experienced friend, or using some forum.
kind regards,
John Kirk. -
I have been getting the blue screen after windows has been running for a while. Sometimes it happens when I am trying to install something. I have uploaded minidump files to the sky drive but I can't seem to read them, I tried copying and pasting them to
the desktop and opening them as notepad files but all I get is gibberish, at least it is to me. I need to know how to make these accessible to the pros so I can repair this problem. I have the Technical information from the blue screen here:
A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval.
*** stop 0x000000101 (0x0000000000000031, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88002FD3180, 0x0000000000000003)
Don't know if this helps but there it is.
I am running Windows 7 P 64 bit desk top
Gigabyte MB GA-MA78Gm-S2H Rev 1.0
4GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 800 Mhz 2Volt BL2CP25664A80A
AMD PHENOM 9750 2.4Ghz QUAD CORE
CPU temp was 32-34 degrees C last time I checked.
Disk error check was inconclusive ( I walked away and when I returned windows had loaded ) I assume this means that no errors were found.
RAM scanned and no errors were found.

These worked but were inconclusive 0oease run driver verifier to pin down the misbehaving driver.
These crashes were related to memory management (probably caused by a driver).
Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem. Since this appears to be a driver I would start with driver verifier.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
1-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)
2-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)

Repeated blue screen crash when running labview 8.2 on Dell optiplex GX620
Hi, I have recently experienced a series of 'blue screen' crashes on a Dell Optiplex GX620 while running Labview 8.2. The dell is running Windows XP SP2 with an ATI Radeon X600 graphics card. Labview is interfacing with a NI DAQPad 6015 device. The computer is a dedicated Labview machine so there is no other third party software that has been installed that could be causing the problem. Also, the computer is one of three identical machines, the only one that has labview installed and the only one that is crashing. Upon rebooting after the first 'blue screen' crash an error report indicated that there was a problem with the ATI graphics driver and suggested updating the driver to the latest version. This was done. Upon rebooting after the second 'blue screen' crash an error report indicated that there was a problem with the RAM. Both of these crashes occurred while running a labview application. A further two incidents have occurred where the computer has restarted for no apparent reason while running a labview application. I was wondering if you were aware of any known issues/incompatibilities with my specific machine and labview 8.2, or if there could be any other known issues with labview that might be causing the crashes. It should also be noted that this is a new setup and these crashes have occurred in relatively short time frame. Thanks for your help!
Hi,
To have a better understanding of what is causing the blue screen crash and the Windows restart, we may need to retrieve the memory dump caused by the crash in Windows XP. Before we actually get into that, we may need to disable Automatic Reboot by Windows when it crashes. I have attached a link that describes how to disable computer reboot after a crash and I have also attached a link of how to retreive the memory dump. Let me know how it goes!
Why Does My Computer Automatically Reboot For No Reason?
How Can I Create a Kernel Memory Dump When Windows Crashes?
(Note that we want to select Complete memory dump, not Kernel Memory dump)

CS4 Blue Screen Crash on opening
The program opens normally and after 3-5 seconds I get a blue screen crash. Just before the crash, photoshop displays a message about a problem with the display driver and GPU. I am unable to read the entire message before the system crashes. I re-installed the video driver and CS4 but the problem persists.
This is a recent phenomena (two days ago). The program operated normally with the current OS/software/hardware configuration for over a year.
Windows 7, SP1 (64-bit)
Intel Core2 Q9550 @ 2.83gzh, 8gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti video card (updated driver)A blue screen means that you have defective hardware, or a low level driver bug.
Applications cannot cause a bluescreen by themselves.
This could be caused by the driver, or it could be that your GPU is going bad.
Did you update the driver from NVidia's website?
