Toshiba L655-S5096 webcam issues

So I tried to use my webcam on skype today and I noticed it wasn't working. I would try to connect and the webcam would turn on for a split second then short out (what I mean is that the blue light would flash a couple time then fade out). So I uninstalled the drivers totally and did a reinstall of them and restarted my laptop. NOw when i try to open just the camera it either does the same thing or I get a pop up notification that the installation failed. Any one have an idea how to fix this issue?

Is this what you already reinstalled? If not, try that. I've also heard of Skype causing problems. Try uninstalling Skype and then reinstalling it.
You could also try using System Restore to restore a previous restore point from before this became an issue.

  • L655-S5096 Webcam Problem

    Hello,
    I own a Toshiba L655-S5096 (It has a chicony USB 2.0 built-in webcam).
I hadn't used it for quite a while after I purchased it in 2010.
Recently I tried using skype on my laptop, but it said that it couldn't detect any webcam.
I thought maybe the drivers have been obsolete or removed by mistake due to whatever reason, so I tried installing a fresh version of Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (downloaded from microsoft website / geniune), and then different version of the Toshiba Web Camera Application (V2.0.3.37 and v1.1.1.15), as I found them in support.toshiba.com.
The problem is that first I was able to install it, and with the application, the webcam worked showing my picture and the blue light on the webcam was on too.
However, then I thought I can use it in skype, so what I did was I installed skype (latest version, and in the mean time windows did some automatic updates), and once I opened skype and I tried to make a video call, the webcam just stopped working and there was a noise as if you plug out a usb device.
From this moment onwards, whenever I try to use the webcam (I tried reinstalling the driver / removing skype / etc.) I just hear USB plug in noise and then the blue webcam LED blinks really fast and I hear the USB plug out sound.
I have tried everything I could, so I would be really appreciated if you guys can provide me with some information.

Hi ! Sense no one is repling, I'll offer my advice. Others my reply with better advice latter!

Why would you do some thing like the above to preform a clean install when Toshiba offers you two options to restore back to out of the box(factory). I suggest you restore back to factory. You can get the recovery media here. I suggest the USB

Install original recovery image (factory settings) and test it for the last time. If the same problem persists there is reason to think about hardware failure.
In this case contact Toshiba service and ask for help.
    Is warranty still valid?

  • P755 Webcam issues.

I bought my P755 back in February and the webcam has been giving me issues for the past month or so, the only way i could fix it was by doing a system restore over and over. But even thats not working anymore, anyone have the same issue or have an idea how to fix it? I've tried installing the software over and over for the web cam stuff on the toshiba program website but thats never worked.

    Try reinstalling this.

  • Satellite A200 - WebCam issue - webcam drives has failed

    Hi,
I need some help regarding the integrated webcam of my Satellite A200.
Everytime I start the laptop I keep receiving a message saying that the webcam drives has failed and I have to restart the computer, but the problem persists.
I have downloaded an updated webcam driver, but nothing.
Can anyone give me an idea of what is going on?
    Thanks!

Ok - I've had the same problem:
"Everytime I start the laptop I keep receiving a message saying that the webcam driver has failed to load and I have to restart the computer"
Same when trying to update driver from Toshiba site, same when rolled back / uninstalled drivers, then re-installed default drivers. Nothing worked.
Sorry - but the solution that worked for me wasn't easy.
I had to disassemble the laptop to take a look - fix something else ( wireless on/off switch had broken / jammed in off position - lugs had snapped on back of the slider switch on the case, but no problems, I just left it in "on" position, as wireless can be switched off in software anyway). I decided as I'd got that far already, to pull the laptop completely apart and clean it out properly.
There's a shielded cable running from the webcam in the lid, though to a small white socket on the motherboard, accessible under the keyboard, next to the wireless board.
I was disconnecting various other cables etc, and came across this one disconnected, and couldn't remember disconnecting it myself. Hmmmm...
Anyway, I connected it back up on reassembly, it pushes in to the socket and seems seated, but needs an extra little push to "snap" securely in place.
My guess is that some of these haven't been seated properly ex-factory. They probably work just fine, until perhaps through repeated flex on the back of the keyboard when typing, or opening and closing the lid, the connector falls out of the socket.
Anyway - my webcam works again now. (using Vista SPII and all current updates, but in my case that's not relevant, as it was NOT a software or driver issue).
There's instructions (with pictures) for disassembling the A200 on the net - use google to find them. You don't need to pull it completely apart, just to the point where you can get the keyboard out, then you can access the connector.

  • Webcam issue with Equium U300-151 running Skype

Please can someone help. I have just purchased an Equium U300 151, and have found the web cam is not working. I use skype for my video over ip and all i see is a black screen.
    Anyone got any ideas.
I am not a techy, so please keep responses simple.
    Many thanks.

If you use the Vista OS then a SP1 should solve this annoying issue.
I found also this Toshiba document:

Searching on the web, most results I found lead to this page, where it is said that the problem is due to badly tuned overcurrent protection, and advocated that unplugging and switching off the computer for a little while gets things back into normal. This does not really work for me; the problem seems to occur more randomly, unfortunately with high probability (my camera is available after less than one boot out of ten).
I tried to ensure that the ehci-hcd module is loaded at boot with the ignore-oc option (with a file in /etc/module-load.d/), to no avail.
I also wrote a script which alternatively removes and reloads the ehci-pci driver until my device is found in lsusb. It is sometimes helpful, but usually not. And even when my device is found that way, it can only be used for a while before disappearing again.
Anyway, such a hack is unacceptable... So, my questions are:
is it indeed related to overcurrent protection ?
is there anything else I can try ?
should I file somewhere an other of the numerous bug reports about "unable to enumerate USB device" already existing ?
If of any importance, I am running linux 3.15.7, because at the time I installed my system, I couldn't get the hybrid graphic card Intel/AMD working under 3.16.

  • Toshiba Qosmio x505-q870 Issues

Hi, i'm a proud owner of this laptop and its served me very well for the past 3 years.
Recently i'm having some heat issues where i think the computer is starting to hang/freeze around 75c.  I've checked some other forums and folks say thermal shutdown is MUCH higher than that so i'm kinda curious at why its happening.  Naturally i've cleaned out all the vents, got a laptop cooler, got rid of as much bloatware, and minimized my HDD usage for as much efficiency as i can squeeze out of the machine.  Not too sure what the next step would be to try to minimize the heat.  At rest with the cooler fan i'm looking at 50c while during intense gaming 65-75c, which is where the freezing, BSOD, and other bad things occur.
I've also ugraded my RAM.  i bought 2 sticks of 4 gig Patriot PC3-12800 1600 MHz CL11 1.35v RAM, which are technically compatible as they are the same speed and size as the ram also sold via the Toshiba website.  My first game with the new RAM showed massive improvement in FPS.  However shortly into the next round it froze up where i needed to do a cold shutdown.  Thinking nothing of it, I restarted and began another game and the same thing happened again where it froze.  After that point i stopped to reassess my options.  Heat was also extremely high, but that was nothing out of the norm for my current situation.
After some quick research on what i shoud do, i ran Memtest86 which came back clean after 20 passes, updated my BIOs from v2.3 to v2.9, and tried to get into the BIOs to try to change the voltage being sent into the RAM.  My old ram had 1.5v while the new ones were at 1.35v.  I ran the program cpu-z to see what voltage it was being run at, and it was set at 1.28v so apparently there's something going on.  Unfortunately in the BIOs i couldnt find how to change the voltage settings, so i'm currently at a loss what to do.  Some more reading has brought to my attention that the fans might not also be working at full capacity.  I also tried to see how i can adjust my fan speeds in the BIOs and again came to a loss.
What do i do to try to minimize my heat burden and try to get my RAM integrated smoothly?

  • HP G60-530CA Webcam Issue

    Hey guys,
I have a friend thats having a strange issue with the HP G60-530CA notebook.
It has a built in webcam but when she goes on cam to me, she said we're both red but its an issue that only occurs sometimes although it has got worse. Im not sure wether its a driver issue, hardware issue or what but I would appreciate some help as its annoying for her.
    Thanks a lot,

"So I replaced the hard drive, and it said it passed the inspection this time. But when I went to boot, it didnt want to. It said "Insert Boot Media and press any key".
A new hard drive is blank, there is nothing on it, so this is normal, did you make the HP recovery disc set? If you did you can put that new hard drive back in and then boot off of the first recovery disc to start the recovery process.
Or do as suggested and take it to a HP service center to get it repaired under warranty if you have one.

  • Compaq CQ58-331SA / Webcam issue

    Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble with my HP Truevision HD webcam. After a few updates from HP a couple of days ago, my webcam stopped being detected by all kinds of video software. When I open Device Manager though, it does appear but there is a yellow "attention" sign with a "!" next to it. When I double-click it, an error message appears: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".
I have tried restoring my laptop to a previous date but the restoration failed both times I tried. In Device Manager, I tried "Updating Driver Software", "Disabling", "Uninstalling", "Scanning for Hardware Changes" but none of those worked. There is still this yellow "attention" sign and this error message.
Can anybody sort this out for me, please? I'm going mad! Thanks

The hard drive has likely failed and will have to be replaced. A fairly easy job to do and not very expensive. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not-just get a retail hdd of at least as large a capacity as the original 500GB in order to use Recovery Discs to install your OS and software.
Your "Maintenance & Service Guide" will help in replacing it:

  • DV2270US Webcam Issues

I have a DV2270US, and I can't get the integrated webcam to work. I tried to uninstall it and that failed, so I attempted to do it manually by removing the program folder, removing registry keys, etc. Now everytime I try to run the installer, I get an error saying setup initialization has failed.
Everyone keeps telling me to use CCleaner to uninstall it, but according to CCleaner, it doesn't even exist on my computer. So...what do I do?
I've gone as far as ripping the installer itself apart and playing with things in the included programs, ini, and batch files, but to no avail.

That's not an option, I don't *have* any restore points.
I'd like to note that I"ve been having this problem for the last 3 months, and only began going crazy trying to fix it in the last week. I initially assumed it was due to all the work I was doing with codecs, but after returning to the original setup, I'm sure that's not the issue.
If you mean using the system disc, also not an option. I never recieved a system disc, and I can't afford to purchase one.

    Hi Anand,
    Thank you for the reply!
It is very sad to hear that your Web-camera is not working properly after updating the drivers. Please check if you are getting any LED indication when you switch on the camera, also check if there is any sticker is fixed on the camere or with any dust. If the issue still persists then this could be issue with hardware and I suggest you to contact customer support for further assistance.
