Toshiba LED ?????'s

First off thanks for everyones help so far.  I have returned 2 tv's already and i dont want to return another.  I had decided on the Samsung PN51D530A3 but i cant find one at any local BB and cant even order it online.  I then decided to go for the Insigina 51" 1080P plasma but same deal, cant get one of those anymore either.  Today i found a Toshiba 46 LED (46SL412) on sale for $599 NIB at a local store.  I had originally decided to go to a plasma because the 2 Dynex 55" lcds that i returned had major motion blur.  Will the Toshiba have the same problems?  What are your opinions??
Thanks again everyone

Buy a "name brand" with a $700 budget you can get a 42" quality TV from a manufacturer like LG,sharp,Panny.
If you cheap buying cheap Chinese DYNEX stuff your going to have problems. Also look for TVs that are true 120hz or above the fake HZ rating on many of these low quality TVs is just backlight flashing and additional frames not going to help with motion blur its just going to get the soap opera effect.
Check best buys current 42" LW5600 I think or some where around that model its close to that one its a mid range TV might be a little smaller that what your looking for in that DYNEX pos but if you bestbuy still has one your in luck you can probably get it on a good sale.

  • AppleTV and Toshiba LED Smart TV (42SL417UC)

    Hi,
I just bought a Toshiba 42" 1080p 120Hz LED Smart TV (42SL417UC) tonight but it seems to have a problem with my AppleTV 2.
When I plugged the two devices via an HDMI cable, the AppleTV only shows 720p HD - 60 Hz as the maximum resolution possible, while the TV is a full HD 1080p.
I tried changing HDMI cable, trying all the HDMI ports on the TV, I restored the AppleTV firmware, played with the (very few) HDMI options in the TV config, but nothing.... any idea?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Rick

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Is it just that you think the Apple TV should output at a higher resolution or do you have a problem. The Apple TV output is 720p, so what you are seeing reported is correct.

  • Toshiba LED TV 55UL605U

I have purchased my Toshiba TV a month ago and found lousy screen quality by the time I received it.
It has many many serious white spots on the screen. I phoned Toshiba service center to get a repairment.
I was already unhappy that I had to repair my brand new TV. It took me a month to get a tech guy at my place because they had to order a new panel for my TV.
He took the TV away and spent another week to bring it back to me.
The problem got even worse when I received it today. The TV was not even well assembled.
Now it has serious blue spots on both sides and still has many white spots all over the screen.
I really want to return this TV without paying any shipping fee or re-stocking fee since this is not my fault.
    What should I do?

Finally got the firmware to download, and uploaded it to my TV. There was no noticable change in the sets performance, and the issue I was having was not corrected. My issue is with NetFlix, only my instant queue comes up and nothing else. I can click on play and watch those movies. Any suggestions?

  • How do I hear audio from my Macbook Pro 2009 to my LED TV?

I recently received an adapter for my Macbook Pro 2009, Mini DisplayPort (Mini DP) to HDMI Female Adapter + HDMI Cable for my birthday.  I knew before receiving this adapter I needed something to transmit audio to my TV.  However, th 1/8' (3.5mm) to RCA stereo audio cable I purchased does not work. Does anyone have a suggestion on which cable I need to purchase next to make the sound component work when connecting my laptop to my Toshiba LED TV?

The Mac's audio output doubles as a optical Toslink stereo mini jack, just use a adapter to regular Toslink and plug the optical cable to your surround sound system. Fiddle with the sound settings to enable optical output.
Mac's pass surround sound through, they don't do any processing.

    Hi !
    Thank you for your answer,
I saw this but there is no way to change the subtitle setting.
In "subtitle type" the only thing i can do is to swich from "normal" to "deaf and hearing impaired" ("sourd et malentendant" in french).
So i guess i will have to get used to it
Anyway, thank you for your help !

DTS is an audio format, such as AC3 or mp4. This TV doesn't support DTS, so when i play movie (such as MKV file) with audio in DTS, there is no sound (but the video is ok).

  • Does 40S51U LED TV support HDMI/ARC?

I want to add a soundbar to my recently purchased Toshiba 40" LED TV model 40S51U. Currently have (Uverse) HDMI and blue-ray HDMI connected. From other posts it seems that HDMI quality audio cannot pass through to the TV's optical audio output.
This leaves the option of ARC. I see some Toshiba LED TV's support ARC (HDMI/ARC).
I have tried looking but cannot find anything. Would someone please confirm if my model supports ARC?
    Thanks.

    Note:
Download the user manual. Only HDMI 1 suports ARC.
HDMI’s ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature info is on page 19.

  • ALL HDMI inputs not working dead on LED wifi 32SL415U TV

Using Toshiba LED WiFi smart tv screen between TWC cable box & occasional gaming/work computer connected via HDMI on both. Since install of TWC 2 mos ago sometimes Cable box goes on fritz and I'd call TWC a few times to reset box. Last night complete black out while using computer, chkd cable box (which is always connected to tv), not working either.  Trouble shoot revealed HDMI cables are fine, also bought new HDMI cable, didn't help,  so all at once (3) HDMI inputs are DEAD.Connected old VGA cable btwn TV & computer so screen works now for comp...TWC still not working w/HDMI cable.Going to TWC store, hopefully they'll give me components & CISP to try install myself.I've reset cable box & reset Toshiba to default then re-installed box & still no HDMI.  1st question: Is this a known problem that has a basic solution when using TWC w/smart TV & computer used alternately because I see many complaints about this issue online?  Since many have this prob then does Toshiba sell the board?  Where do I find a repair place in my zip code? link?2. Is it a power surge problem? I've read because apt buildings are notorious for electrical grounding issues that a CISP on incoming coax may help keep this from happening in the 1st place or resolve issue if you put in a new board?   3.  Had absolutely np w/Toshiba b4 (except it needs a Qwerty board for net tv & youtube) since I bought it in 2011.  No one told me to turn off box when using tower, do I need to do that even with now using components & VGA instead of using HDMI?...I don't want the hassle of disconnect/turn-off each device every frggn time so if I must turn off alternately cable or tower is there a switch I can install, buy online? what's it called??4.  Will re-install of driver help?  If so, how do I re-install the driver for this model? Have a link?Hopefully not TLTRThanks.

As I said initially I've reset Toshiba and cable box.  Didn't fix HDMI problem.  If you wish to try anyway go to:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74E4gXlGyf8     Link above is video gives two options on how to access Toshiba tv reset mode to default settings.     Time Warner Cable tech came today.  Hooked up components, cable works now.  Still a pisser on why this happened only after hook-up install of TWC box.  Good luck!

  • Can you help with my new Toshiba?

Just purchased a Toshiba LED LCD tv.  I have older equipment so I hooked up my DVD player through the satellite receiver as the imputs on the new tv are HDMI and not RCA.  I have an older Bose Lifestyle 30 theater system and want to hook it up as well but the TV did not come with a user's guide and the online user's guide has the same instructions for hooking up Digital Audio as they do for Analog audio.
It looks like I either need new cables or and Y adaptor or new equipment (EEK!)
What cables do I need to hook my Bose up to the TV and is it possible to hook my DVD player (and my Wii--haven't even looked at the wii yet) into the HDMI imputs?
    Thanks in advance!

There are audio inputs on the television but that won't work for the Bose.
Also, when I get the cable figured out, what do I select on the Audio Setup to have to Bose speakers work?
    Thanks again!
You're going to need a 1/8 headphone to RCA connection. Very common connection at your local Best Buy.

  • Mid 2010 Macbook pro - Mini DisplayPort to Hdmi issues

Hi there! I'm having some issues connecting my mid 2010 Macbook pro to my 32" Toshiba LED TV.
I'm running OS X Version 10.8.2 , as mentioned before, on the mid 2010 Macbook pro.
The issue which I have, is that when I connect my Hdmi cable to my minidisplay port through the adapter, I keep getting a blue screen popping up.
I am using a Startech MiniDisplay to HDMI Adapter Converter and ION 6FT Flat HDMI CABLE.
    anyone with suggestions on help?

I had issues with getting my MBP to work with my Vizio XVT323SV via the RGB port. What worked for me was downloading SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/indexSRX4.html) and setting up a custom 1920x1080 resolution using the values found in the Vizio user guide. Works like a champ now. Best shareware investment I ever made. Now I can watch my EyeTV recordings at full HD resolution.
    Hope this helps. Good luck!
Sidebar: I also bought the Griffin mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable, but I can't get any signal at all via that connection. The Mac doesn't see the TV and the TV doesn't see a signal. Very frustrating. My RGB connection is good enough but I bet HDMI would be even better.

  • TS3623 AppleTV 2nd gen intermittent audio content out.

My second generation AppleTV plays all content great to my Toshiba LED TV, but content out to the soundbar is intermittent.  iTune movie "Let Me In" doesn't but "The Replacements" works perfect and so on.  Same thing with Netflicks.  But my Blueray player using netflicks works perfect on every tittle from netflicks.  I have tested all four HDMI ports with the same result.  The AppleTV is dissapointing at this point.  Any Ideas?  Oh, the sound bar is the Polk Audio 3000.

I have two HDTV's bought in the last 2 years and see no option on either to upscale.
Your HDTVs panels will be fixed resolution - if the input signal differs the TVs have to up/downscale accordingly.
AppleTV 1 allows you to set resolution from 480p/576p through to 1080i/p under Settings.
If your TV is 1080p and you output 720p from AppleTV, the TV upscales automatically.
If the TV has a 720p panel, but accepts a 1080p input from an AppleTV 1 it will downscale.
For what it's worth I much prefer my AppleTV 1's. I too feel there's something subjectively worse about video quality on 2, menus in particular look rough edged/pixellated compared to 1- the output may just be sharper (or non anti-aliased menus) than gen 1.
AppleTV2 definitely buffers/navigates faster and with more responsiveness, but the interface is not as polished as ATV1 and some features are still missing compared to 1 - early days though for ATV2, so I hope software updates will remedy some of these. Having recently read something about possible ATV2 revision with better CPU however, I wonder if it will have the same lifespan software upgrade wise as gen 1 did, though being iOS based this may help apart from hardware dependent things.
    AC
The point was that I found the ATV1 to be better than the ATV2, IMO of course.

  • Keynote transitions do not appear on external display

I am practicing for a big presentation. I have a Macbook Pro connected to a Toshiba LED projector.
I have a beautiful Keynote presentation completed with great transitions, however I have 2 issues:
on the secondary screen for the audience:
    1. no transitions appear. The slide just advances to the next slide with no transitions appearing. Why would that be?
    2. The picture size for the viewing audience is too small. I'm not sure how to adjust that. I did go into screen displays, but I haven't found the correct setting yet.
I really am concerned about those transitions not appearing.I really want those. Anyone know how I can fix that?

There are a few things you should check:
    1) In the Keynote Preferences/Slideshow Preferences window: be sure that the button "Present on Secondary Display" is checked. This puts the presentation onto the projector and should show your transitions as you have created them.
    2) Same window, check the box marked "Scale slides up to fit display."
    3) To view the "presentation preview" on your own computer screen, check the box "Use alternate display to view presenter information" in the Keynote Preferences / Presenter Display Preferences window. Check the other boxes as you prefer. I recommend checking the "Ready to Advance Indicator" box because this very useful feature lets you know the status of Builds and Transitions.
    4) In the System Preferences / Displays window: Check the button marked "Detect Displays." This should set the optimum resolution and screen size automatically for the projector your are using.
    5) If the image is still too small, the projector may have a "zoom" control which will change the size of the projected image on the screen. OR, you may need to reposition the projector farther from the screen; this will increase the image size.
    Good Luck.

  • Using digital tv in different countries with ATSC/M and DVB/PAL formats

Are there any Toshiba LED/LCD/plasma models 40-42" that will function with both DVB and ATSC digital formats and M (NTSC) and PAL analogue formats?

    Alex,
This is sort of the holy grail for me as well, I've got an upgraded PC with a dual analog tuner and a single DTV tuner on it - for now I'm using a TV antenna to get DTV transmissions and using the analog for ch 2-83 cable.  Not ideal, but the OTA stuff is great.  One side benefit - it still records in .DVR-MS format, which most applications know what to do with.  Not too many out there that know what to do with .WTV format that the update pack (Fiji) creates.
From what I understand - if you have a newer QAM tuner and driver - Win7 should bring it all together.   Maybe by then the video editing packages will be able to handle the new format as well.

However, when booting into the update, it goes through the startup....reads the existing rom image...then attempts to look at the disk version...and gives the wrong image size message. Usually, this means ether you've got the wrong bios image (hmmm...toshiba led me to it...so maybe it's wrong...but readme says it's ok) OR the download was corrupt. Re-Downed the entire set up file again (file name as mentioned above) and tried again. All disk work on my master workstation which is almost always correct. (except when it's not?)
Any ideas? What the heck is the A4 anyway? Seems like a very rare model....

Does the A4 in question have Intel video or ATI or nVidia?
Looks like there are different BIOS files depending on the video chipset.

I just bought a Toshiba LED TV.  My photos on my Apple TV all show up with a heavy magenta color, and the contrast looks like an Andy Warhol painting.  I have switched HDMI cables but it remains the same.  Help.
