Toshiba p755-s5278 issues
About a week ago i noticed it hanging up and pausing slightly while doing basic browsing and light gaming then it got to where it would constantly show not responding then continue then not respond again.
i have restored the laptop back to factory settings and it still does it, everything has been updated, have ran mem test and hdd test and all showed they were fine. now I am at a lost of where to turn.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! I really don't know. It's really hard trying to find a problem when you don't have the PC in front of you. Sense you don't have any programs installed, we can rule that out as a cause for your problem. Why don't you try Firefox or up grade to IE10 after you restore to factory. My thinking is that after a factort restore, you should see an improvement. If you don't, then it's time to find the hardware that's causing your problem and that's not so easy. Who is your ISP? What is your down load speed??

Hello, I have had my Toshiba p755 for a few years. I love how it works when it works.Sadly i spend more time working on resetting it than i can actually use it. I paid good money for this laptop only to have it break after a BIos update after 13 months. I was unable to fix it and stored it away in a room for two years. Earlier this year before i was going to throw it into the trash i decided to try and fix it again. I spent over a week working on it, got it working did a backup and it worked great for 5 months until it downloaded and installed your crappy Bios updated again. It has not been working since..... Is Toshiba doing anything for their customers with problems related to your software ?Do you help your customer or leave us hanging ?
What problems are you having, in terms of the bios update?Does the bios post screen ever appear or is it just a black screen?Does the backlight and fan come on?

Blue screen of death on Toshiba P755-S5375 with ADOBE ENCORE CS6
I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Adobe Master Collection CS6. I purchased the laptop for video capture and editing, as well as for blu-ray authoring.
Unfortunately, although the computer and software works fine for video capture and editing, I am unable to author a blu-ray. For authoring, I am using Adobe’s Encore CS6. After checking and previewing my creation, I attempt to build to disc using Encore. About 2 seconds after clicking the build disc in Encore, I get the “blue screen of death” (BSOD). This happens every time I try to build to blu-ray (only blu-ray has this issue; I am able to build to a DVD). I am using an external blu-ray drive on USB 3.0.
I am using Encore version 6.0.0.492
Here are the blu-ray drive specs:

We need to know the Stop code on the blue screen. If there is a file name mentioned, we want that too.
You can prevent the rapid disappearance of the blue screen during a normal boot by choosing this at the F8 Startup menu.

I bought my P755 back in February and the webcam has been giving me issues for the past month or so, the only way i could fix it was by doing a system restore over and over. But even thats not working anymore, anyone have the same issue or have an idea how to fix it? I've tried installing the software over and over for the web cam stuff on the toshiba program website but thats never worked.
Try reinstalling this.

Toshiba's WiFi issues and their lack of support - you are not alone
For those of you out there having issues with WiFi on a Toshiba Laptop, you are definitely not alone.
Over the past couple years I've noticed an increasing number of different makes and models of toshiba notebooks and laptops having the same issue.
In the past year, 100% of the toshibas that have come into my workshop have had this issue, this is about 75% of the laptops I have serviced.
These models have all had different wifi hardware (Agere, Intel and Realtek)
The wifi switch is turned on, on the same computer some programs detect it as being switched on, others see it as switched off.
Irregardless, it won't connect to a router wirelessly even when it used to.
The answers from toshiba have been the usual unprofessional form reply of: it must be the router, try toggling the switch, have you updated bios?, update the drivers et al.
This is a software problem, and given the amount of people on this forum talking about the same issue, it is a big one.
Frequently I have come across the issue of the windows services for wireless communication being disabled by Toshiba's software and I believe this is a conflict between tosh's software and various others (zone alarm, windows et al)
In some cases the software seems to interfere and corrupt the drivers of the windows OS and interfere with their implementation and execution, which is worrying, the software should not be touching those areas at all.(otherwise what's the point of a layered OS)
I have occasionally managed to force it back into working (such as restarting the services manually), but such workarounds are not a "clean" way of doing things.
The most reliable way to fix this issue seems to be, backup your data & reformat back to manufacturer specs, then immediately uninstall toshiba's software and update the woefully old drivers (even the ones on the site are about a year out of date for the model I am working on now.) Unfortunately most of my clients are businesses which need a LOT of data kept in different places backed up and then a ton of specialist programs to be reinstalled, which is time-consuming and costly.
Message to TOSHIBA:
Please make a sticky in this forum for all the ACTUAL solutions, not one of the threads I looked at with your suggestions was a solved one.
If there is little-no support for your products in this regard, I will contact the ACCC, choice and Fair Trading associations with an open letter that I will ask all of the relevant customers to sign, and I will put out a country-wide call for people with the same issue to step forward.
I would also ask if you are having an issue where your wifi stopped working and it does not want to detect or work, please just post 'bump' under here so that way we can keep it reasonably clutter free.
I used to recommend Toshiba and Asus for laptops, now the list is down to one.
Regards from Australia (the aus site sent me here for the forums)
Damien HolleyWireless LAN has always been a bit tricky to get up and running, that's just how it is. Its not a problem specific to Toshiba, all manufacturers and even Desktop PC's have to deal with the same complications.
There can be multiple Wireless Managers installed, but only one can control the Wifi Card at any time.
Here is what I suggest you try (keeping things simple and easy):
1. Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, and uninstall the Wireless Managers/Clients
* If you have an Intel Wifi card, uninstall the Intel PROSet Utility (or it could be called Intel MyWifi).
* If you have a Realtek or Atheros Wifi Card, uninstall their Wireless Manager/Client. (don't uninstall the Driver itself, you need that).
* Uninstall ConfigFree
2. Now go to Control Panel ->Administrative Tools -> Services, and enable the built-in Microsoft Wifi Manager.
Scroll down to "WLAN AutoConfig" or "Wireless Zero Config" and ensure they are set to "Started" and Automatic"
Other things that can cause Wifi problems are:
* Firewall/Antivirus software. They can block unknown Wifi/Network connections.
* DHCP Dynamic IP Addressing. Using a Static IP Address can get a Wifi problem working.
* The Firmware on your Wireless Router (Access Point) may be outdated. Check the Manufacturers website for an updated Firmware.
* Surrounding Electrical devices can interfere, such as a Microwave, cordless phone, etc.. -
I am having issues with the Toshiba dynadock U (PA3575U-1PRP. When I installing the drivers for the docking station and click on the Internet, it takes forever for the homepage to appear. When I turn off the Windows Firewall, that internet works great. Is there an issue between the docking station and Windows Firewall?
I think I am having pretty much the same issue with my dynadock U. Out of nowehere, whenever I try to open any internet browsers, they freeze up and run slowly, but it is only on my external monitor. If I go to the settings and switch the screen to my laptop monitor, it does not have the issue. Did you ever solve this issue, and if so how?

Toshiba 50M2U Display Issue - Help!
Colors are not displaying correctly on our Toshiba; dark colors are replaced with a green hue. It's most noticible in the initial boot up, with the red TOSHIBA logo appearing on top of a green screen that should normally be black.
I messed around with absolutely every setting on the tv. Tint, contrast, brightness, color, reset to factory settings, etc...
None of it fixes the issue I'm wondering, is it the LED lamp panel that's messed up? Has anyone ever had this issue before?
Please let me know if there's anything that can be done about it!If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 631-3811.

Hi, I have a Toshiba DX1210 all-in-one. I run Windows 7 and use Adobe Photoshop 5.1 to work with my photos. When using Photoshop, I often get "Could not complete [command] because there is not enough memory (RAM)", which is frustrating because I can't even save my work when this happens. When I check my System Information it lists there is only 2.7GB RAM usable (out of 8GB). I am not techno-savvy and have no idea how to resolve this issue, help please. Thanks.

Toshiba Laptop - cursor issues
Hello - I have a Toshiba C55D-A5120, serial # XXXXXXXXX. The issue began today: I open the laptop, enter my PIN, the screen opens normally, but the cursor freezes. I have to exit via the Task Manager. This is the first problem I have incurred.
Thank you for your time and help. --- Chrisanne
[Moderator edit to remove serial number.]Hi Chrissane!
I have read some posts about cursor issues. You can try doing a power cycle by removing all power by removing everything connected to the laptop then turn it on pressing F2 immediately and it goes to a setup screen where you can hit defaults by pressing f9 then enter and f10 to save and exit. after it restarts, log in with your pin then once you have your desktop back, press f5 only once then wait for atleast 30 seconds and try your cursor to see if its works already. Hope this helps! Have a great weekend! -
I have a Toshiba L 675 with Windows 7 64x. Two days after I got the laptop, it started freezing. It works fine until I update Windows 7. I researched and read everything I could find from graphic installer problems with Catalyst and/or Radeon to being the fan. I don't think it could be the fan because for the first two days it ran fine and after the updates, it started freezing so bad, I couldn't get to the desktop after rebooting. I don't know what else I can do to stop this or even to find out what the problem is to make this stop because I don't want to have to take the laptop back, I love it. I would just like to resolve this issue.
Did you create recovery disks?
What model L675 exactly? Have you installed any software? Toshiba or BIOS updates?
Did you install any MS optional updates or driver updates? -
Toshiba hard drive issues...
Okay, per Apple discussion forum rules, this is going to be a technical question.
Toshiba states the Mean Time To Fail (MTTF) of the MK4006GAH to be 300,000 power on hours. This is the 40gig drive used in the 4G 40gig iPods. They also claim a product life of 5 years or 20,000 power on hours. These numbers are way higher than that being experienced by thousands of us who bought these expensive little machines. Look in ANY iPod related forum to find these HDD deaths are widespread.
Are these problems directly related to Toshiba faulty manufacturing? If so, many of us need to lean on Toshiba to fix this. If not, what has Apple done to shorten the lifespan on these drives?
What can I, as a consumer of iPods and Macintosh computers do to extend the life of this unit? When my hard drive starts with the now infamous "whirr click whirr click", what are the steps to recovery?
The suggested remedy here on the Apple forums and in many other forums is to drop the ipod from approximately waist height to a carpeted floor. This is supposed to jar the hard drive back into proper action. This is unacceptable.

Dallas, Texashe MTTF and similar operating life projections are probably based upon the drive being used in a more benign environment than an ipod
ipods can get bounced around quite a lot, this will increase the chance of failure
that said, the 40gb is in my opinion a lemon, i had one fail inside a week of purchase so i just took it back for a refund and got a smaller one
on the forum there seem to be a disproportionate number of 40gb failures reported vs. reports of smaller units that were sold at the same time
the 40gb has more platters and a higher mass head assembly than the smaller units of the same family of disks, this would make it more vulnerable to damage -
Hi,
I did a quick search on the forum to see if there was an already existing article and did not find any. My apology if there is already one, feel to relocate the discussion.
Recently, I bought an external hard drive in order to do a complete back-up of my computer and make a complete system restore. Doing the back-up was fine, it took around 30-40 minutes to transfer 180 GB of data using a USB 3.0 Port. Doing the restore was sadly another story.
I tried to do as it was stated in NTI Backup Now EZ for a full system restore. Unfortunately, while booting with hard drive, I get the following message: Missing Operating System. Trying to boot while having the hard drive being last in the booting priority list simply started Win 7 normally.
Something else I noticed too, while this hard drive is USB 3.0, when it is plugged in any of my USB 3.0 ports, the BIOS does not recognize the device as being connected on certain occasion, while in a USB 2.0 port it is always recognized.
I did an attempt on reading the .BNF files with the File and Folder restoration tab but was unable to see the files from both easy and advanced mode.
As one can see, I did many attempts but from now on I need some help because I am starting to run off possibilities to be honest.
Specifications:
O.S.: Win 7 64-bit Home Premium
Hard Drive Specs : Toshiba Canvio DESK External hard drive 2 TB USB 3.0
Hard Drive Model # : HDWC120XK3J1
If you need any other information, just let me know.

If I understand you correctly, you are attempting to boot from the external drive that contains your backup image.
I don't know anything about this program, but I feel certain that you are expected to boot from a special optical disc (CD or DVD) that you have burned.
Please read your User Manual for instructions.
Booting from my external drive is exactly what I tried. I did read the "Help section" concerning the restore procedure. As you will be able to see in the first image I linked, it is writen to refer to the software instructions. I linked then, with the next three pictures, what it looks like in the software and how to reach the "Complete System Backup" instructions. I did all this procedure and the only message my notebook shows me is "Missing Operating System".
What is your take on this ?

Macbook Pro / Toshiba External Drive issue
I have been using a Toshiba External HDD drive for about a year. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago when I attempt to connect my drive to my Macbook Pro ((10.5.8), I'm getting the following "The device you are trying to connect is drawing too much power therefore the USB connection will be be disabled". Therefore I can't access stored info: iTunes, documents etc. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Again, it's has been working great for the past year.
Thanks
WillieVeeTo add to Kay's comments I have a little Toshiba drive that just did this. I started using a hub and the drive worked for a few more days and then died completely and I returned it under warranty.
Once you get it working I would highly suggest making sure everything on the disk is backed up to another disk and I wouldn't use it for anything important. -
Toshiba forum registration issues
Had quite a few problems when I tried to register for Toshiba forums:
1) Which forum - forums.toshiba.com seems to be completely separate registration from forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com - you can't use ID from toshiba.com on toshiba-europe.com?
2) Went through complete registration at toshiba-europe.com then it wouldn't let me login.
So I tried the "forgotten password" option and it say's my ID is not recognised.
Then I tried re-registering and it says the ID is already taken
It can't be both not recognised and already taken - surely??
SimonYou are right about forums.
This forum is European Toshiba Forum and other one is US Toshiba forum. You cannot login with the same account. US forum is separate forum and there you can discuss with people about models offered on US or Canadian market.
I dont know what is wrong with login and cannot help you with it but if a registration is completed login should not be problematic. In worst case simply create new account.
