Toshiba Places problem connecting to facebook

TV Model 46TL963B connected to sky router using network cable. Have registered with Toshiba places. Trying to connect my facebook account using the email authentication option and it keeps saying problems with server and wont let me connect.
Solution please

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region.

What is this about: "There was a problem connecting to Facebook. The operation couldn't be completed. OSStatus Error -1) and then I have to hit "Okay" sometimes over 100 times or just force quit Aperture. Happened again this morning and I had to hit "Okay" 55 times.

    Hey Rob,
Thanks for the quick post! I checked the Login Items and it looked like there were three applications checked off that had uknown types next to their names. I unchecked them and hope to see this fix the pop up box.
I'll respond if this does or does not fix the pop up.
    Thanks!

  • Re: 40TL938G - Toshiba Places problems

    1. Video Places.
YouTube doesn't work, yet it is (still) present in Video Places.
It used to work until a while back, and I suspect it ceased working once Youtube Leanback service was apparently discontinued (by Youtube? or by Toshiba via software update?).
I've read a post on this forum suggesting that it is now advisable to go to www.youtube.com/tv in the built-in browser to be able to reach Youtube content. I've just attempted to do it, but the thing is the supplied open-browser in Toshiba Places does not support Flash player - so dead-end again! Moreover, when I went through Sign-in procedure (8-digit code in youtube.com/activate) I got "error - please try again later".
    2. Social Places. Twitter doesn't seem to work either. It constantly reports "No tweets", which I know isn't true. New tweet sending dead too. Haven't tested yet Flickr. Luckily enough, Facebook does work!
Perhaps this kind of annoying shortcomings are inherent in a transition period (at the service providers and/or at Toshiba software development division) but it is a pity that users are not notified about it.
Because when a personal account in Toshiba Places was created by every user, we each checked "Toshiba may contact you by email" and there is even an Inbox placed in Toshiba Places.
    My system information readings: Toshiba 2012 - 7.028.14.1 Jul 1 2013 - 87.8.97.9 - MBOOT Version: 00646225

    News update.
I searched for previous firmware version on Toshiba server and found this link:
"Download Center model 40TL938G Firmware Update Version 7.0.27.19.1"
    http://www.dl.toshiba.com/tsb-dtv/NA/GB/EN/40TL938G.html
I dowloaded 7_0_27_19_1_001-b.exe (114 MB), extracted tl938_745869.bin (115 MB, timestamp 06/14/2013) on a FAT16-formated USB stick, as per Toshiba instructions.
It was duly detected when I inserted the stick, the expected notification appeared "A software update is available. Do you wish to upgrade?", I clicked "Yes", then another notification: "Checking the latest firmware update available, please wait", and finally: "There is no update available at this time". Period.
I can only assume that, among other things, it checks the timestamp of the "upgrade" file, to make sure it is newer than the timestamp of current firmware - in my case 7.0.28.14.1 dated 1 July 2013. Sooo... bad luck!
It means that it is not possible to DOWNGRADE firmware on TL938G series via USB stick.
And back to square one in my quest to revive my Youtube @ Toshiba Places ...

  • Scrabble app problem connecting to Facebook

I've downloaded ios8 onto my Ipad2 and now Scrabble won't connect to Facebook to find friends to play. It says there's a network error but internet connection is fine. Have reinstalled Scrabble app and checked password working fine with facebook. I can connect to Facebook app without any problems and open Scrabble without problems. Any ideas?

You can always try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
If that doesn't work, try Settings> General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. You will need to reenter your WiFi passwords and pair your Bluetooth devices again using this option.

  • Can't connect to Facebook T-Mobile User

When connected to  WiFi I get a message that there is no connection to the internet (even though everything else works fine).
Could someone kindly tell me what my browser configurations/permission  should be? I've tried deleting the apps and reinstalling but to no avail. It used to work before. Perhaps I changed my configurations as I tend to play around on it a lot but I am pretty sure I didn't change my browser configurations or permisions.
    I have a BB Curve8320 for T-Mobile and a router.
    Thanks for the assistance

I have this problem too. I've confirmed that others are not having this problem with Facebook. I do not have this problem connecting to Facebook with my smartphone using it's 4GLTE connection.
It seems to work sporatically and then not work for a long period of time. This affects all browsers. I've turned the firewall off and it still happens. I heard about the Flashback virus so I checked for that and all browsers returned clean results so I don't have that.
The one other weird thing I notice is that every now and then I will see a dialog pop up and disappear like SUPER FAST, it's only there for a fraction of a second, and less than half a second. I don't know anything of what's on it, or even if it's got a yellow triangle or not that's how fast it comes and goes.
Looked in the Console app, couldn't find anything. This is REALLY annoying and worrying me if my Mac has been compromised. I'm not using wi-fi. I've also forced a different IP address with my cable modem and same problem. Rebooted the machine and same problem.

Problem connecting wirelessly from iMac to NETGEAR router, get invalid password message with WPA and WPA-2 encryption in place but if I remove them, so no security, can connect without a problem. Help!!

Thank you for your suggestion but I have already had a couple of phone sessions with NETGEAR support and they don't see any problems with the router settings etc. They referred me to Apple support, who helped me discover that it is possible to communicate with the router but only if I turn off the encryption/security software, which I don't want to do. The frustrating thing is that I can connect wirelessly from a laptop running Windows 7 and two Anroid smart phones, with WPA-2 in place, without a problem. Do you have any other ideas?

I'm seeking for help regarding an issue i encountered while using my toshiba SMART tv. I'm unable to link my facebook account to my toshiba places account, it shows "Internal server error" while trying to link via the link given in the instruction in the email i received.
    Can anyone please help?

In you case I would recommend checking for new firmware update and after the firmware update, the TV should be reset to the default settings.

  • I am having problems connecting to my home wifi with my iphone4s

Over the past couple of weeks I have experienced a problem connecting to my home wifi service (Sky) with my iphone4s although my laptop connects fine. My phone also picks up the wifi at my place of work. At home when in close proximity to the router (netgear) on the phone the network name appears in the wifi settings but on the wifi networks page it does not get a tick against the name (wheel just keeps revolving). I have taken it back to the retailer (Vodaphone) and they recommend it be sent back to Apple (Liverpool or Manchester) as they consider it a hardware fault. I will be without the phone for probably 1-2 weeks and I use it within my working environment regularly.
    Has any one any ideas?

ps. If I go down the route of 'forget this Network' will I need to do any resets on the router as I cant find the username and password when I enter my IP address for the router.

  • I can't connect to Facebook, it doesn't even register the site, and I can't even ping it in CMD?

I can't connect to Facebook. I could this morning, but suddenly I can't anymore. It tries to load, and then says "The connection has timed out".
I also can't connect with Internet Explorer. However, I can connect with Firefox, or IE from other computer (Other computer also has other internet provider).
I can connect to any other site on the web, like I am now on Mozzila support.
When I go to run, CMD, and type "ping www.facebook.com" it also says "Request timed out", and 4 packets lost. When I ping it, I get "star.c10r.facebook.com [31.13.64.65]". When I search for that IP i get "Facebook Ireland Ltd".
When I do same ping on my other computer (and other internet provider) he pings "star.c10r.facebook.com [179.60.192.3]" and pings correctly. From that other computer I also can't ping first IP (31.13...), but from first computer (on which I can't go to Facebook site) I can ping second ping (179...) correctly, but I need to type it in manually. When I just type "ping www.facebook.com" it gives me that first IP that doesn't work (31...).
Why does it happen, and why do I get different IP's when I type "ping www.facebook.com"?
Any idea how to fix it?

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
    Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
    Check the settings.
Contact your ISP and have them check your service.

  • Error message: There was a problem connecting to MobilMe. The request timed out.

I've never had an account with MobilMe.  MobilMe is not listed as an account in iPhoto.  All software on iMac is up to date.  I'm running OSX 10.6.8.  While working in iPhoto, editing or trying to upload photos to FaceBook from iPhoto I get the error message: There was a problem connecting to MobileMe.  The request has timed out.
For some reason iPhoto wants to communicate with MobilMe, even though I've never had an account.
I worked with ExpressLane (case # 231899367) thinking it was a MobilMe issue).  It was a dead end.  Any suggestions to remedy this annoyance would be appreciated. Thanks.  ILIJA.

Strange, I got this error for the first time last night.  I have a 27" iMac (late 2010 model); with latest Aperture.  I recently added a Flickr account (have had a Facebook account on there for some time).  I was uploading some to my flickr account, and noticed that even though the "use actual size" setting was used, it was uploading tiny thumbnails and not the full version.
It was after this, that I got that error.  I haven't tried it again, as I'm now on my macbook at work.  Will try again tonight.
I've also, NEVER had a .mac account, so no possibility of it being a legacy account.

  • IPad 4 iOS 6.0.1 cannot connect to Facebook

    Hi all,
I have a strange problem that I'm trying to solve.
I have an iPad 2 (iOS 5.1.1), iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) and now an iPad 4 (iOS 6.0.1)
Using the WiFi network at work the new iPad cannot connect to Facebook properly. The two older devices, on iOS 5.1.1, connect and work without any problem. (please read on, it gets stranger!)
    Some more details:-
The old iPad and the iPhone can connect to Facebook fine, using either the Facebook app, Fera or Safari or Mercury browsers.
The new iPad "sort of" connects - I can access settings, user icons in the RHS chat bar update and are correct, but it cannot update the newsfeed, no new posts at all and after 30 seconds or so, a red bar saying "Network unavailable" or similar.
Fera is the same, settings load and work, user icons work, viewing my home page seems to work, newsfeed - nothing updates.
Using Safari it seems to load OK, but the "this page is still loading" progress indicator carries on, and on, and on, and on. Using Mercury browser and the same thing happens, plus after a short while Mercury actually tells me that it couldn't load the page. No newsfeed updates at all.
If I disable WiFi and enable 3G data, it works no problem.
If I'm using my WiFi connection at home, it works no problem.
I am the network administrator at work and the WiFi is an unfiltered, unblocked, unfirewalled connection. (it has an external static IP which goes through NAT and then to two WiFi access points and one DMZ PC) The ISP is a business account at Easynet. I'm not aware of any port blocking that they do, and even if it was port blocking further up the network, it should affect all my iDevices, not just one?
The fact iOS 6.0.1 has problems and iOS 5.1.1 does not suggests to me it's a problem with iOS 6.0.1, but the fact it works fine through 3G and my home WiFi connection suggests it's port blocking at the work connection.
I suspect either the new integrated Facebook in iOS 6.0.1 is connecting a different way to iOS 5.1.1 Facebook (and ditto for the browsers!) or maybe SSL over port 443 is being used and is different somehow between iOS versions?
I've checked the iOS logs (using System Status app), nothing of relevance there. I've checked the network connections and nothing out of the ordinary there (but if it tried to connect via a blocked port, it would fail and not be listed in the port list anyway)
Is there anyway I can log all (successful and unsuccessful) network connections that happen (for everything)? I do have an Apple developer account, is there anything available there I can use to track the problem down? (I've just registered, haven't gotten round to doing anything with it yet so I'm not aware of what's available in there yet)
    I've tried:-
Deleting and reinstalling the Facebook app (but as the Facebook website also has problems I didn't expect this to do anything, and it didn't)
    Hard reset of the iPad.
Putting the iPad into DFU recovery mode, letting iTunes completely reinstall 6.0.1 and setting it up as a new iPad. (no restore)
    Nothing has made any difference.
I've had the iPhone and new iPad next to each other, 3G data disabled, WiFi connected (to the same access point), iPhone works fine, new iPad doesn't.

Mine has never worked right for more than a couple days, then it just stops.  I don't even try to fix the thirty things that don't work on my junk iPad.

  • Issue setting up eFax on HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-One "Problem connecting to internet"

I'm having an issue setting up eFax on my new HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-One. I am following the on-screen instructions and receive an error "Problem connecting to internet" when trying to register the account. The ePrint service is working, and I can use the facebook app on the printer so it seems to be connecting to the internet. I am uncertain how to resolve the issue.

Let's set a static IP address and external DNS for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Can't connect to Facebook through WiFi - Lumina 92...

Both my teenagers have just had upgrades to Nokia Lumina's at the weekend, from an HTC and a Huawei. Both phones are WM8 and both have the Amber update pre-installed.
Unfortunately neither phone can connect with Facebook through the Wi-Fi but CAN connect through 3G. As both tariffs are on low monthly data usage, you can begin to imagine the annoyance they are displaying at having to switch off Wi-Fi just to make Facebook sync.
Everything else works fine and I have trawled through numerous web pages and tried everything imaginable to get this to work, but no luck.
If anybody else has had similar problems across their Wi-Fi, please can you share the solution and help restore some peace back to our household.
Alas, both the previous WM8 phones worked flawlessly and my ancient HTC HD7 also works without a blip.

    Hi Squirrel23,
    Welcome to the Nokia forum.
Are you using a Facebook app or you've setup your account via E-mail+accounts? Is this happening to just one specific Wi-Fi connection? Have you tried to connect to other Wi-Fi? Have you tried rebooting your phone? ^AR

    Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.
