  • Toshiba portege z935-p300 Space bar not working

    Hello everyone,
New to this forum but I'm hoping you can help me out. So I have a client that recently spilled liquid on her keyboard (toshiba portege z935-p300) and the space bar button stopped working. I havent cleaned under the button yet but obviously I'll do that first.
Typically when this occured I'd just go online and buy the entire keyboard tray and normally the issue is fixed. Well this specific keyboard I cannot find anywhere.
So the questions are does anyone know where I could find one of these keyboards? I found a site that sells the buttons for the keyboard which is what I'll be trying if I cant find the entire assembly.
    Thanks in advance.

HERE is one on Ebay for  $50. I've had very good luck ordering keyboards from Ebay vendors.

  • Replacing Battery on Portege' Z935-P300

Has any attempted or thought about replacing the battery on this laptop? At the moment the battery time is still amazing but I can see it starting to deminish faster and take longer to hit the full charge. I just know that down the road a new battery will be needed, thoughts?

DO NOT USE LAPTOPBATTERYONLINE.NET.  They scammed me out of my money for this exact battery.  The battery arrived with most of the Toshiba label torn off, probably by another company in order to mark it as a defective/used battery.  It did not hold any charge.  They also will not refund my money.
This is my email exchange with them, to give you a sense of who you're dealing with. The first email was sent by me on their website.  The rest occured over gmail.  The punctuation, capitalization, and grammar are verbatim.
    They are scumbags.

    Hi,
    I ordered the following battery:
    1 x 8 Cell Toshiba Portege Z935-P300 Z935-P390 Battery
    (LBO-Toshiba-8Cell-PA5013U-1BRS-Z930-6)
My Order Confirmation number was xxxxxx.  I need a Return Merchandise
Authorisation (RMA).  After installing the battery and allowing it to charge
in the laptop overnight, it will not hold a charge.  The battery charge
reading fluctuates from 2% to 100%, with a red "X" in the taskbar icon and a
warning that says "consider replacing your battery".  If the laptop is
unplugged, it shutdowns down suddenly after about a minute.
I ran "powercfg -energy" from the Windows command prompt.  The report
    generated had this:
    Battery ID  0000000678G71C000CH310
    Design Capacity  46472
    Last Full Charge  1905
    Last Full Charge (%)  4
    Thank you.

The battery does not work. It cannot hold a charge. If I unplug the laptop, it shuts down a few seconds later.

please use your charger to charge it first.

I already did. In fact, I already described how I charged it in my first email.

  • The Flashing Orange Power Light Of Doom! [HH3]

I've had no internet service for a week now, on Infinity 2 with HH3.
All lights on the white modem are green, the hub won't even start, just goes to a steady orange, then after about 15 seconds, a continuously flashing orange power light, and stays there.  The other lights are dark.  Power cycle doesn't work, holding down the reset button doesn't even reset it.
After lengthy "troubleshooting" on the phone with India, I received a replacement HH3 yesterday, plugged it all in and got all blue lights for all of 3 seconds and then - wham - reset to flashing orange light, which now stays there no matter what I do.  The issue was escalated to "Tier 1 support" by India yesterday, but heard nothing.
No service problems reported in my area according to the BT website, but India seemed adamant that it was a network issue (after being adamant that it was a faulty hub earlier in the week...).
This is getting very frustrating now, anyone have any idea what could be causing this ??!   I really just want an engineer to come out but India wouldn't arrange that.

It should be quite easy to prove by bypassing the hub and connecting the modem to the PC, then setting up a broadband PPPOE connection.
Here's some instructions provided by Rygg
try a direct connection to the modem. This will rule out your homehub and internal wiring as the fault.
1: Remove the homehub from the modem
2: Connect your pc/laptop into the modem using LAN1 port
3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network
4: Connect to the Internet (the top option) then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE
5: Username [email protected] and the password as anything you want
6: connect, if it cannot connect, just keep pressing try again if this happens and it will eventually connect.
If you found this post helpful, please click on the star on the left
    If not, I'll try again

  • Portege z935-p300 - Creating Recovery Media

Just powered up my new z935-p300 from Best Buy. I am told it is a good idea to create a recovery media before making any changes. I followed the instructions and it is prompting me to insert a USB FLash drive with a minimum of 16GB which I don't have on hand. I do not have an external DVD or CDROM drive, any other suggestions in terms of creating this media? I have an external connected to my desktop machine but the prompts tell me it will format the media I connect and I don't want to do that as I have my files backed up there(from the desktop).
Should I buy a new USB FLash drive of this size?

Unfortunately I believe that's what you'd have to do. Keep in mind that if you don't create the recovery media, you can order it from Toshiba later. However, I'd recommend you buy the flash drive and make it yourself. You could also copy it to your desktop after making it and then use the flash drive for other things.

  • Toshiba Portege z935-st404 asks for password before booting

When I turn the laptop on, it shows the toshiba logo and then changes to a screen with only the "password=" prompt at the top left corner. This happened after I tried to change the boot order in the BIOS. After doing some research, I found out I might have accidentally set the BIOS/supervisor/hard drive password. I tried removing the CMOS battery for 10 minutes, didn't help. I live in Ethiopia, there are no Toshiba service providers in a 500km radius. HELP! It's a school laptop that I messed with.

    Hey Peter,
That is what my "research" on the internet concluded with. But I need another way. As I said, I live in Ethiopia, even the neighboring countries don't have Toshiba service providers.

  • IMac black screen and flashing power light

I installed several system updates on my 2007 iMac last night, running OS 10.7, and today I can only get a black screen with a flashing white power light when I try to start up. My computer will neither start up nor completely shut down, and my wired keyboard won't communicate either. Help!

    Power down, unplug if needed.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk.

  • DC power light flash yellow - Satellite Pro 6070

I have a Toshiba laptop that I got from a mate, when I push the power button it flashes a green light as if it is going to go on but then on the DC power light starts to flash yellow. I have looked this up but wanted to make sure it was right...
I got told that there were 3 batteries on the laptop the main one the bios one and another one. I have looked at other logs on here and tried gettin it to work just off the mains but the same thing happens.
How would I go about gettin it fixed or what could be the problem?

    Hi
It dose not sounds very optimistically The DC IN indicator glows usually green when the DC power is supplied from the AC power adaptor.
But if the adaptors output voltage is abnormal or if the power supply malfunctions, this indicator flashes orange.
Either there is something wrong with power supply electronic on the motherboard or the AC adaptor malfunctions.
In my opinion its the first possibility and in such case I dont think that you will be able to fix it yourself.
Im afraid the technician advice and help is needed :(

  • Toshiba Satellite L505D wont go into sleep mode. Freezes before power light blinks yellow.

When i try to put my laptop into sleep mode by closing the lid, it freezes before it enters sleep mode. i get a black screen when i pick the lid back up, and the power light stays green, instead of blinking yellow like its supposed to. Last time i remember it working properly was around June 6th, i took my laptop to my buddy's place so we could watch the new Halo 4 trailers and i know it worked properly on both the car ride over and the car ride home. anyone have any ideas whats wrong?

    Let's make some experiments.
What happens when you boot into Safe Mode?
Start your computer in safe mode
Also, what happens when you boot normally into another account? If necessary, create one.

  • My apple tv 1st gen will not boot up the light just keeps flashing yellow

I turned the power on to my 1st gen apple tv about a week ago and the indicator light just kept flashing yellow it would not boot up I tried unplugging it letting it cool and plugging it back in, I left it plugged in for the day and it still wouldn't boot, I listened for hard drive clicking there was none, I looked at the Ifixit teardown and saw what looked like a CMOS battery, I've had a pc before with the same symptoms and replaced the battery and everything worked fine after. If anyone can provide a second opinion it would be much appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The most likely problem is a hardware failure.

  • Flashing yellow light?

I've been reading other posts regarding the problems encountered by some after upgrading the Apple TV to 2.2. I believe my problem is related, but not sure. Others have found relieve by holding the "menu" and "-" keys on the remote to regain control, but mine just shows the apple icon on the screen and the yellow light continues to flash indefinitely (I guess). It's been flashing for several hours and nothing else appears to be happening. I've tried powering it off several times and as soon as I plug it back in, the light begins to flash yellow continously again. The Apple icon doesn't appear until I do the "menu" + "-" sequence again....but that's it.
Also...and unrelated to this problem...does anyone else's Apple TV stay very hot as long as it's plugged in?
    Thanks

The flashing yellow light combined with the failure to boot even after the power has been recycled would indicate a catastrophic failure. If it's totally unresponsive, there is nothing you will be able to do on your own to fix it. You should either call AppleCare or take it to an Apple store.
As for the heat, yes, it does get very hot. The top is reportedly designed to act as a heat sink, eliminating the need for a large, potentially noisy cooling fan.

  • Blue operating light flashing yellow,/seems to be no video/

    Pavillion P7-1297cb  QZ233AA  HP2711xmonitor
My logitech mouse stopped working on programmable keys so I rebooted.  The normal blue operating light flashed yellow three times, went back to blue but no boot.  Tilted box and checked cables, retried and then everything normal.  Computer 1 1/2 years old.
    What's wrong?

Unfortunately, you never know what's gonna happen if you drop a phone.  You could try holding the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for about 30 seconds and see if that will reboot the phone.  If the phone seems to be working ok after that, a screen replacement might work.  Otherwise, you may have to replace the phone.

  • I Hate Flashing Yellow Lights )-:

I have just switched from Comcast to Centurylink. My reasons for switching were primarily two:  1) I saved 50$ a month 2) I despise Comcast's business model
Also, with my Airport Extreme, I can establish a Guest Network that my literally poor next door neighbors can use without us running into each other. I was originally not using my Airport Extreme because it had interface problems with my actiontek Q1000 modem from Centurylink. When used in a hardwire sense, theQ1000 works wonderfully, consistently 38-40 Mbps on my iMac, but wirelessly, it was pitiful, 3 Mbps on my iPhone, and 8-10 on my iPad. The Genius' at my Apple Store said that it worked poorly as a wireless modem, and because it was G in format, it didn't interface well with my iPhone. In turn, they said the slowness on my iPhone slowed down my iPad. If you are a tech nut like me, you know how irksome it can be to see that constantly flashing yellow light and not know enough to remedy it, and turn it back to green. I'm one of those guys that can't sleep at night until those update numbers disappear from my iPhone and iPad desktop. If you can give me any ideas to fix the problem, you may help prevent me from bludgeoning myself to death with my old Microsoft keyboard. Yikes!!!

To configure the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode using the 10.7.4 operating system.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utiltiies > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Make sure that the setting for Router Mode = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update at the the lower right and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort Extreme to display a green light
Then, power down the entire network....order of devices is not important
    Wait a minute
Start the modem/router first and let it run a minute by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme the same way
Continue to start devices one at a time until the entire network is powered back up

  • Satellite P300 - power lights on, but nothing happens on screen

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P300-1F0, yesterday it was working fine, I turn it off without nothing extraordinary happens.
Although later when I wanted to turn it on I pressed the power button but the screen wasnt working, I tried to connect an external screen but nothing was shown on it, although the power lights were on, the cd reader opened and closed like normally does, and I could hear the fans working.
Than I realise the windows 7 welcome sounds weren't playing even after some minutes with the laptop turned on, and that the mouse laser only worked for some seconds before it turns off.
This was when I started to belive that it wasnt a screen problem but something else.
I read some forums, and I tried to disconnect the power cable, take out the battery, pressing the power button for 60sec and turn it on, and it worked, everything was working fine, I used the computer for some hours without any issue.
Today the same problem occured, and I tried to fix it the same way I did yesterday, holding the power button for 60 sec, but this time it didnt work. I retried this for 3 to 5 times and nothing.
After some hours letting the computer turned off, resting, I retried the process and now it worked.
Now I'm afraid to turn off the laptop, because to turn it on I need a lot of pacience and time.
What could be the problem, and how I solve it?
    Can you help me?
    cumpliments,
    Adriano

    >I read some forums, and I tried to disconnect the power cable, take out the battery, pressing the power button for 60sec and turn it on, and it worked, everything was working fine, I used the computer for some hours without any issue.
Yey, sometimes this workaround is helpful to bring the unit back the life.
    > What could be the problem, and how I solve it?
Its difficult to say what cause this. The Satellite P300 is an old notebook model therefore it could be possible that one of the hardware parts starts to malfunction.
It would be interesting to know if usage of different RAM modules would change the notebook functionality. If you have some spare compatible RAM modules you could test it.
In worst case it could be possible that notebook motherboard start to malfunction.
This would be the worst case I hope for you that its not mobo related issue.
PS: check if your BIOS is up to date. In case its not the latest version, try to update the BIOS.
