Toshiba Qosmio X775 Q7270 Won't power up

My laptop developed an issue where it won't boot. It starts to boot screen blinks then shuts off. If you get it to start Bios with F2 it shuts off before you can do anything. I have tried disconnecting battery, DC input cord holding the power button down. Power  buttton plus the windows key for 30 seconds, a full minute etc etc etc. Nothing. Any ideas out there?

Well my netbook worked perfectly, that is until I put the netbook to sleep one night and the next morning I noticed the orange power LED was no longer fading in and out but was completely off.
The power LED Is not supposed to be orange. I suggest replacing the power adapter!
PS I also suggest not putting things in the refrigerator.

  • Toshiba Qosmio x775 Randomly Turns off and on itself.. PLEASE HELP!

Whenever I turn on my Laptop Toshiba Qosmio x775..it randomly turns off then turns on itself..sometimes for just 20-30mins or sometimes less than or sometimes in can run the for many hours..the problem is not with the Adapter because i try to put the battery and unplug the adapter and still it happens randomly..dunno whats the problem with this..
Mostly i researched..they said it's overheating..they said to check if the fan is full of dust something like that..but none of it works..I downloaded a program CoreTemp to check the Temperature for overheating issues..and it's only on 45-50 degrees..and that program has overheating protection to shutdown if it reaches 90 degrees..but in my case in does not reach that degree and still shuts down..hayy..need help badly..

SO FAR SO GOOD FIX GUIDE-
If you own a Toshiba Qosmio laptop and you are having problems with it powering down for no reason, try this.
    1) Unplug all the wires and remove battery
    2) Hold down power button for 30 seconds
    3) Plug everything back in and start it up
    4) Hold F2 to enter boot menu
    5) Go to the Advance Tab
    6) Set Execute Disable Bit to Not Available
    7) F10 to save and exit
     SO FAR SO GOOD!

  • BSOD on toshiba qosmio x775 q7272 0x100000b8, hal.dll, athrx.sys, ndis.sys and ntoskrnl.exe

This is my first post on the toshiba forums. Recently i have been gettin the dreaded BSOD (blue screen of death) on my toshiba qosmio x775 q7272 with the error code 0x100000b8 'attempted switch from dpc'. So far i have scanned for viruses which was clean, checked both hard drives for errors also clean, and checked RAM and re-installed the drivers for my atheros WLAN card. I am now out of ideas as to what to do. Normally crashes occur when the laptop is moved but doesn't always, like i can have weeks of no BSOD then all of a sudden i have 2 within 20 mins. I am only keeping this brief and there are details that i havn't included but they seem minor to me.
Please help i am getting frustrated as it never BSOD on games just menial tasks which makes no sense at all, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards Sam

  • Toshiba Qosmio x775 Windows 7 freezes after login

Recently I've unscrewed the lid on the back of my qosmio, the part with one screw with the sticker on it that says "caution pc base can get hot, etc etc". That one is a smaller little area that could be removed on the bottom compared to the bigger, whole part of the bottom. It just had a RAM or something in there. Anyway, when I opened that, there was a bunch of orangish sticky gunk in around the edges, so I cleaned it off with a clorox wipe, careful not to touch the RAM or anything else in there at all, and closed it and screwed it back. The fact that I didn't even do anything to the RAM or whatever it was, just claned the gunk and screwed it back on, is why I don't think it is what caused it, but immediately after that my computer started to freeze right after I would type in my password and the desktop icons would show. The loading icon next to the cursor would load and it would just freeze until I turned my PC off. Am I going to have to get a new laptop altogether?

  • Qosmio x775 w\ BSOD problems

Hello, I bought a Toshiba Qosmio x775 - Q7170 (Intel i5-2450m; GeForce GTX 560M, 6GB of memory, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1) in the U.S. about 2 months ago, and at the end of April he began to show BSOD's with different error codes making it difficult to identify the real problem. The error occurs when I'm playing games, which use more video card. The drives were updated both the mobo chipset and GPU, I used the site's nvidea and intel. already formatted once but the problem returns. Could it be a hardware problem?
The game screen lock and begins to squirm like the screenshot, and makes some strange noises through the speakers.Than comes BSOD with various codes, the screenshot shows a 0x000007E , I already got some with this endings 3B, 7F 0A and some more, that i wasn't present at the time.
I usually play about 10 to 20 minutes before each problem. and then when the fan work harder i get these problems. would be overheating problem? I'm not sure,'cause i dont get signs of it
Screen at the time of screen frezz:

    BSOD:
    Attachment 2(erro 2.jpg)
I've been searching the internet for some time but i couldnt find anything, if someone can help me i'll be very grateful, as i only pretend to play on it and, dont even think I can use the guarantee because I am not in the Us anymore.
If you need any more information that may help, please ask.
    Thanks in advance.

Unusual to see HECIx64.sys making trouble. It's a component of the Intel Management Engine.

The dxgmms1.sys driver is part of DirectX, which is related to the graphics.
already formatted once but the problem returns. Could it be a hardware problem?
That's my best guess. I'd restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents once more to make sure it occurs again.
Looks like a warranty issue to me.

Hello, I am having problems with my power connector not staying in it's socket allready!!The laptop is on a small table and the laptop is only used a few times a week!Is there a Right Angle 90-degree Power Adapter Connector Converter for TOSHIBA Qosmio X875-Q7290?I think this would help solve the problem. Thank You

Get an aftermarket universal charger, perhaps?    Their connectors are mostly  right-angle.    I have some iGo Green model that looks like this but is an older model.    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834993922

  • [Solved] Random freezes on a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q888

    Hi guys,
My laptop has been freezing randomly, about once per day, during the last 2 or 3 weeks. The system freezes completely, i.e. the display freezes, I cannot move the mouse, I cannot use the keyboard, the CAPS LOCK light starts blinking, and if there is any music playing, it enters an infinite loop of 2-3 seconds. I cannot use any keyboard combination such as Ctrl+Alt+F1 to switch into a terminal. Then I have no choice but to press and hold the power button.
The freezes seem to happen in a completely random fashion, independently from what programs/applications I am running, for how long the computer has been on, how much memory I am using, CPU temperature, etc. Also, I cannot find any clue in the log files. Everything seems to be OK just before the freeze (except for some random, annoying, but apparently unrelated messages such as "[system] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.Avahi': timed out"). The only clue is that the CAPS LOCK key is blinking during the freeze, which means... kernel panic?
I am running 64-bit Arch Linux on a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q888. My current kernel is 3.4.2-2, but this has been happening since at least 3.3.7-1. I know another person with exactly the same laptop model as me, who is having the same issues. I am lost here. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! Actually, yesterday I upgraded to the new kernel (version 3.4.3-1) and my laptop has not freezed since then. So, maybe I will wait for a couple of days and hopefully mark this as solved.

  • Toshiba Qosmio X505 plugged in, not charging message

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X505 that is almost 4 years old and have some power issues.  The battery is drained to about 6% and the battery icon in the tool bar has the plug symbol for a second then it goes away then comes back and goes away.... it keeps flashing like this.  When I move the mouse over the battery icon it says plugged in, not charging.  I have tried every solution I have found on line with no luck.  I have removed the battery and ac charger and then held the power button for 30 seconds, I have cleaned the connections, I have re-installed the battery about 10 times, I have rebooted all to no avail.
When I remove the ac adapter the power light is off and the battery light is orange.  When I remove the battery and plug in the ac adapter the power light is steady red.  As soon as I put the battery in the ac power light begins to blink on and off.  The computer does not power on with the battery removed and the ac adapter plugged in (but I'm not sure if it's supposed to). I will also add that in the last week or so when I power on I would get a black screen saying an NTFS file is bad and the machine wants to do a disk check.  The disk check never runs, even when I try to do it manually.
I have read this could be a motherboard issue, an ac adapter issue, or a battery issue.  I am hopoing a replacement battery fixes the problem.  Before buying a battery I was hoping someone had some info to share.  Thanks

I bought a battery hoping that takes care of the problem.  If that doesn't work I will try a new adapter and if that doesn't work I will probably just remove the hard drive and use it as an external on a new machine.  Seems there really isn't a whole lot of info out there about this problem other than the start button solution.

  • My Qosmio X775 3D doesn't record video or just fails at it

    Hello,
I have a Qosmio x775 with stereo webcams, but when I try to record 3D video it just stutters goes full screen and shows highly distorted 2 screens of video, and records side by side video... which when I use the Toshiba 3D player it just shows it side by side, no matter what configuration i give it.
When recording it's highly distorted using 2 squares (like 10% of the screen space) on the upper right corner and full screen. Also when trying to upconvert video to 3D it just shows a mess.

    Hi
Im wondering if you have calibrated the 3D vision before trying to use the 3D future on this notebook?
The Toshiba 3D webcam supports Support 2D mode, Shutter Glasses 3D mode and Red-Cyan Glasses 3D mode.
So ensure you have configured this properly.
Furthermore dont forget to remove the foil placed at the front of the webcam. This affect the webcam quality.

  • Random BSOD - Toshiba Qosmio X500 13R (Windows 7 Home Premium x64) have min

I've been having some problems with random BSODs on my laptop.
The laptop itself is fairly new, bought in March this year, really good model but refently I started having problems.
One day I closed the laptop and thinking it went into sleep mode but a few hours later when I opened it a BSOD stared me in the face, the processor part was pretty hot so I immediately restarted it to lower the temperature, but I remember that the BSOD had something about "Kernel Power" written on it.
It happend 3-4 times since then, the third time it happened I enabled minidump logging so now I also have the log from the last time it happened, can anyone take a look at it and tell me what is going on and how to fix it??
I still have a guarantee on this baby so I can get it fixed for free if it's a hardware issue, still I have some important work to do this week (already almost lost a crucial project file on this) so I want to try and fix it myself for now, until I get this project done.
    Thanks!!!

The BSOD can be caused by software of hardware issue.
You can check if new OS installation would solve this if its software issue then a fresh OS installation is the right workaround. Before starting a OS installation, backup the data ;)
But of course the issue could be related to hardware; for example high temperature.
You said that you have noticed higher temperature while happening.
So maybe the memory modules are affected by higher temperature and this leads to BSOD. In most cases clogged fans are reason for that. Check if dust and debris needs to be removed you can remove dust using compressed air spray.
But if this does not help, I would recommend checking the hardware under warranty conditions

  • Qosmio X775 - CPU usage is over 99%

I have a Qosmio x775 and while (im not gonna lie) i was playing LoL, somehow evverything started to go slower. My mouse barely moved, so i quit everything and turned off my qosmio.
Then i turned in again and the problem got worse.
It took like a minute to open the start menu. So i opened the task manager and watched the cpu usage went from 24% to 99, 100%,
So i started to end useless, yet cpu consuming processes and somehow my laptop went back to normal.
I'm about to scan it with my antivirus and im gonna erase stuff i dont need, but i just want to know what could happened and how to avoid it when it happen again?

    I agree with Joe.
Have you noticed this from the first day of usage or later?
What you can try is to stop some useless background processes to see what will happen after doing this.
Which antivirus application do you use?
If you use original preinstalled OS disable or stop Tempro and Toshiba service station tool. They are pretty active in the background. Original preinstalled McAffe needs much resources too.
Play a bit with all this stuff and check in task manager which application or process make CPU so busy.

  • M40 won't power up on battery

My M40-225 Satellite won't power up on the battery. When the power-up button is depressed, the surround to the power-up button displays as blue, then everything goes dead.
When AC adaptor is plugged in,the compute powers up normally, "battery remaining" is given as 100% in TOSHIBA power saver settings, and the Battery light indicator at front of computer displays as blue.So the battery appears charged.
I've had the computer for just a few weeks. Power up on battery worked fine until recently and I can't think of any reason for the change.
I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks. Mike.

    Hi
As far as I know if both parts (Battery and AC Adaptor) are plugged to the unit this can damage the battery or decrease the battery life. You should always remove the battery from the notebook if the Ac is plugged.
In your case I propose to remove the battery from the unit for a short time .
But in my opinion if it doesnt help I assume that its something wrong with the power electronic.
In this case your notebook needs a services.
    Bye

  • Qosmio X775 Q7380 will not take windows or recovery

I bought a Qosmio X775 Q7380 from a friend about a month ago. He bought it brand new a few weeks before I bought it from him. It ran great when I got it. I wanted to put a clean install of windows on it to remove any of his files and get rid of the bloatware on it(sorry toshiba lol). After a reformat and install of windows everything was good, I got the drivers on it and it was great. After each windows update the computer got a little worse each time untill it just would freeze up/run super slow from start up. After trying several different times to get this to work I ordered the recovery disks from toshiba (they say x770 series on them, not sure if they sent me the wrong ones). I ran the disk and it would pop up an error saying could not copy file sector is encrypted and stop working. I used the recovery disk to do a complete format of every sector and after 30+ hours of running it errored again and quit. My last try was to use windows and not update, This worked for about a week with everything running fine untill it just got extreamly slow and windows explorer would always crash right after boot. I've done everything I can think of short of putting a new HDD in it. Is there something i'm missing or is the drive just done.

It sounds like either a problem with the recovery discs or the hard drive. I'd call support again soon to see what they can do.
While I don't recommend doing clean installs, keep in mind that you can find your drivers on the downloads tab of your laptop's product support page.
