Toshiba Sataite c855d-s5307 VERY poor sound

I have the Toshiba Satilite c855d-s5307, maxed out to it's highest specs, but the sound is quite horrible. Very tinny and hollow. It is also very soft even with all sound sliders up to 100%.
I installed ALL the latest drivers via the Toshiba download site and have had no luck. I tried all the sound settings and even the Toshiba sound enhancements and equalizer but no luck.
What can I do?
Cheers,
Chastain

The L505-S5990 laptop (and other models in the L505 series line which use the Realtek HD audio drivers) have not been configured properly when they were initially shipped. This is a two step process.
First, either update to the latest Toshiba audio drivers via the Toshiba Support web site, or by downloading the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers from the Realtek website.
Second, once the audio drivers have been updated, enable "Loudness Equalization" on either the Start -->  Hardware and Sound --> Realtek HD Audio Manager --> Sound Effects tab, then click OK to save the setting change. Or on the Start -->  Hardware and Sound --> Sound --> Speaker Properties (select Speakers then the Properties button) --> Enhancements tab, scroll down the list of sound effects to enable "Loudness Equalization" then select the OK button to save the setting changes.
Once the drivers have been updated and the "Loudness Equalization" has been enabled the system sound audio level is much louder, however you may find the DVD and Audio CD audio levels are still low. No real fix for that issue yet from Toshiba other than to experiment with the various sound settings.

  • My iphone5s continually drops calls and has very poor sound for callers sooo disappointed compared with iPhone 4 from which I've just upgrade

I am so disappointed as my iPhone 5 s is very poor for calls and repeatedly drops calls. I've contacted Orange and done a reset to factory settings with no improvement. These calls are to landlines. My iphone4 was excellent in comparison . I've requested an Apple support call tomorrow - any other suggestions  or similar experiences? Call bars are much lower too on this new phone and wifi fails too with frequent fail to connect to server messages. I so regret having this phone..

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Very poor sound on the toshiba laptop 205e

I bought this computer aat Best Buy a toshiba laptop E-205 and I have a serious sound problem. The sound is so weak that I can hardly hear it.  I have read your advice but I do not see the realtek audio manager under the control panel even if I use the search feature. Can you give me some help. Where can I get the latest driver? And how can I install the driver and last how can I control this driver? Thanks JP McCray

My A210 at exactly two years lost audio volume.  Of course, out of warrantly.  I can get clear sound from external speaker, but unacceptably low volume.  Seems that I should be able to get an amplfier that would boost the sound, but no luck so far.  Has anyone come up with a fix?

  • Very poor sound volume

Im pretty sure that my macbook volume is lower than it should be. My friends music sounds much louder on his. How can i change this?

the macbook has notoriously poor speaker volume anyway. the fact that theyre set back facing the display panel and probably not very high powered to begin with, its unlikely youll get very good results out of them.

  • Very poor sound from internal speakers, very good on headphones.

    Hi,
I hope you can give some advice.
New to all this so apologies if protocols are broken etc
    New 20" imac, running Leopard.
very thin, tinny sound from internal speakers (similar to hearing someone's else's walkman
on the train). when I plug headphones in its great no probs.
Advice please! I don't want to send it back I'm halfway through my assignment.
    Hadders

I just realized I've never heard the internal speakers on my new iMac, I have always used good 2.1 speakers since I got my eMac years ago and the internals really sucked.
I was just curious, have you heard anybody elses built in iMac speakers and did they sound better than yours or the same? Maybe at the Apple Store?
I don't know, I just didn't know if they really improved them. Maybe other iMac users can chime in on internal speaker quality. The only reason I said all this was because you mentioned that headphones sound great, which is the same port that a set of external speakers would go.
Sorry to hear you had to send it back for that. Here's hoping you didn't have to send it in for what the speakers really do sound like.

  • Very poor sound quality on bluetooth headphones through HP Envy 700-074 desktop

I recently purchased a pair of Bose AE2W wireless bluetooth headphones to use with my HP Envy 700-074 desktop computer. After successfully pairing the headphones the sound quality is extremely poor. I know the headphones are not the pronblem since they sound beautiful when paired with my iPhone or iPad.
I have tried updating the driver, but I have the most current version installed according to the computer. Adjustment of the Beats Audio controls or any other sound controls does not help.

  • Re: Very poor sound on Equium A100

Hi. I have a Equium A100 with sound problems. The best I can describe it is that it sounds like a Dalek.
I'm running Xp pro. I've uninstalled and re installed the driver a few times in the hope that would sort it, but that hasn't worked.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Its a A100-147 and yes you are right, originally with XP ME. I then went to Vista then back to XP ME and then recently to XP pro.
Never had a problem with the sound for the first few weeks with Xp pro and not had any other problems other than the sound.
Windows tells me I have the right driver when I try to update it but also says that it hasn't been signed by microsoft.
    Its a Realtek.
    Sounds the same through headphones.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • NB205 - very poor product and service, do not buy Toshiba!! Completely dead in 6 months

I am posting this to warn as many people as possible to avoid buying Toshiba in the future.  Not only was the product faulty, which I can understand sometimes happens w mass production.  But the service was completely unacceptable, which was the deciding factor for me.
    1.  My new Netbook NB-205/BL started intermittently shutting down for no reason (complete black screen, not even to blue screen).  By the time I returned home from my trip it had stopped working altogether.  The power light will come on, and the fan/hard disk will try to spin for a split second and then go silent and stop completely.
    2.  Upon calling tech support who walked me through a bunch of diagnostic attempts (removing and re-inserting battery, etc.), they concluded it was dead and I needed to send it in.
    3.  The only thing I really care about is my data as I had stored a bunch of invaluable photos and downloaded about $200 worth of Amazon MP3s since receiving the Toshiba NB205.
    4.  Tech support assured me they would back up the hard drive for me and ship either a fixed or new computer with all my data still intact.  They asked me to register it w their warranty department and call them back so they could send me a shipping box to send it back in.  I did all that and it's been >3 weeks and no box.
    5.  So today I called Tech Support again and the guy goes "Oh yes, you have shipped your computer in for a hard drive failure?".  At which point I had to explain how A) it's not a hard drive failure B) I haven't shipped anything anywhere because I never got the box I was promised.
    6.  Then I proceed to ask him again if my data would be safe, to which he informs me it's Toshiba policy/practice not to back up data for customers.  I found this to be unacceptable and then I didn't know who to trust so I asked for a supervisor.
    7.  This supervisor wasn't able to help me either as he further informed me that they will not back anything up for me AND that I had to pay for shipping AND pay an authorized Toshiba Repair Center to back my hard drive up.
    8.  I suggested what everyone who I've talked to has said:  Toshiba could send me a new computer since they've diagnosed the old one as being dead.  I could swap out the hard drives, or they could send me one without a hard drive.  And I could send them back the dead NB205.
    9.  NO was the answer.  Toshiba wouldn't do anything for me, because software issues are NOT under warranty.  And backing up my hard drive is considered to be a software issue.  I repeatedly told him that it's their defective hardware that is causing the need for data backup.  But this went ignored and I was told they don't cover anything in this case.
I either had to lose my data or pay probably $100 for a Toshiba dealer to back up my data for me.  Oh yeah, and there isn't one of those within 20 miles of me and I live in Silicon Valley!!  Oh yes, and they want me to pay to ship them the dead computer.
    10.  I finally asked him how he would feel if he was the customer, and if he felt this was any way to treat Toshiba customers.  He replied by saying they have a process, and this is the process!
Well the next time I and any of you are in our "process" of deciding which brand of technology to buy, I'm certainly not going to consider Toshiba anymore.  This is the second chance I'm giving Toshiba after having a very poor laptop AND service experience in 2000.  Well, it took me 9 years to give them another shot, and I'm never going to trust them again.  I told myself "well, it's a high quality Japanese brand, one that commands a premium in price that people are willing to pay so it should be an excellent product.  AND if things do go pooryly, Toshiba will stand behind their name."
I was SO wrong!!!  Let this be a message to all people out there, as I did read these forums before buying my product, but the NB205 was so new it didn't have many posts.
Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me!  I'm done with you Toshiba, it's really too bad that you will not honor your brand with fair treatment of your customers.

It isn't that difficult to back up the data from the hard drive.  You can easily do it yourself for about $20.  http://www.datarecoverytutorial.com/recover-data-from-failed-laptop-notebook/
As for Toshiba backing up your data, ALL of the manufacturer's have that same policy.  NONE of them will backup the data for you nor will they guarantee that your system will be returned with the existing data intact.  This is spelled out in the Warranty documents and is fairly common knowledge amongst most computer users.
If the data was that important you should have been backing it up to USB flash drives, a usb external hard drive, or some other backup device on a daily basis just for this very reason.  The fact that you failed to do so doesn't make it Toshiba's problem.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Poor sound quality with 7g Nano through docking speaker.

Very poor sound quality with 7g Nano through docking speaker.  Sound through ear bud is fine.  A different 7g Nano sounds fine through the same speakers.  There does not seem to be debris in the lightning port.  Any suggestions?

  • Toshiba Satellite L755-S5216 poor sound

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5216. The sound is barely audible through the on board speakers, and hardly any better with speakers plugged in. There doesn't seem to be any upgrade to the Conextant audio driver available. I've checked all the settings and have all the volume levels at max. I've been told by our IT guys that there isn't really anything I can do with this model as the sound is poor at best on most of them, and Toshiba has never really bothered to address the issue. Does anyone know if there is a fix, or should I just save this one for general web duties and buy another laptop?

My computer has the same problem. The sound is muffled. I called Toshiba and hooked them into the computer. They told me the driver was corrupted for the sound. This was NOT covered by the warrenty. I explained I wasn't buying a warrenity for $199 (this is more than half what I paid for the computer) when it should work out of the box. They "fixed" it - NOT. They also were going to call me back - NOT.
I have 4 Toshiba laptops. They all came with warrenties and systems discs. The tech support person explained they don't give the discs or the warrenty anymore to save money. My advice is to write to the Attorney General of your state and the Better Business Bureu and buy a DELL.

  • No sound or very poor one from front speakers T7900 system

I have a T7900 system and sudenly I have no more sound or a very poor one from the front speakers (left and right). The others (central, rear and subwoofer are working fine). I tried all configurations posible and from the control panel but still no result.
    Anyone can help?

    Hi,
Try swapping the front speakers with the others, this should tell you if the speakers are faulty. You might want to get in touch with support for further assistance on this.

  • Hi since I put the new update on my ipad. The sound quality on the ipad is very poor and just wondering is there going to be a update to sort it out.thanks

Hi since I put the new update on my ipad. The sound quality on the ipad is gone very poor it's sound very tinny. I just wondering if there is going to be a update to sort it out. Thanks

    Hello Tollykev,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you have some audio issues with your iPad after the iOS 7 update.
I want to recommend the following troubleshooting from the article named:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • AirTunes - Very faint sound/poor sound

I bought an Airport Express today. Got it setup fairly easily. The only problem is that the sound quality coming from the speakers is very poor. I have to turn up my stereo all the way to get a descent sound out of it. I tried to plug the Airport Express up directly to some portable self-powered speakers but go the same result. Any suggestions on what could cause this? I feel the setup is correct. I didn't buy the Apple "Monster" cables, I'm using some regular RCA ones I got from Best Buy. Could this be the problem?
BTW - I know the setup is correct because I'm using Directv through the ethernet and it's working well. For those with Directv, this is a great option to us the On Demand features.

The issue with Wi-Fi interference is more one about the quality of signal between the audio source and the AX as you're relying on AirTunes to stream the audio content wirelessly. If there is some sort of Wi-Fi interference present in the area between these, then it is possible that the signal has been degraded (due to noise) such that the quality of the audio stream would be affected ... and maybe why you are getting such poor performance.
