At first it didn't charge.  But after doing a power reset, it charged up.  And then I did a charge/discharge cycle.  The problem is that right after I did my first discharge to break it in, the battery was not detected again.  So I ran through everything.  Power cycles.  Uninstalled ACPI battery driver and reinstallled it to no avail  Updated my bios to 1.80, since there's not 3.0 version for my lappy model.  My old battery still charges though my laptop still tells me it needs to be replaced.
So...
Is there anything more I can do?  Should I just return it and get a new replacement battery or is there still anything else that can be done?  Was it just not compatible with my laptop even though it said it was?  Any help would be great!  Thanks!

If it still doesn't work, there may be a problem with the battery or a hardware problem in the laptop itself.

  • Satellite A300d - New battery not detected

    I recently got a new battery PA3533U-1B RS/AS for my aged Satellite A 300d.
When I place the new battery in the laptop, unplugged, press power button, the red battery indicator flashes several times, no power.
When i plug in the mains to the laptop, the red battery indicator stays red as-though charging, once windows has loaded the battery shows as Not Detected.
I have checked connection and gone through device manager- unistall/install but come to no luck. This is the 3rd replacement battery I've had from this company who have a very positive review. Is it my laptop or the battery?
I do have a good faithful 20 minutes battery that recognises every time and charges without a problem.
If you could please help it would actually stop me from going crazy, thanks in advance :)

    Hi Paolo,
Thanks for your reply. I have kept the battery on charge for 12 hours +, both the 2nd and 3rd battery I have received, and neither of them show as detected.
When the laptop is off, new battery in, ac in, red light stays on for about an hour then it continuously flashes. This happens with both. After charging it won't turn on until insert ac, then when windows loads, bat not detected.
When I put my original battery in in turns on without ac, and battery shows and info correct.
I will speak to the dealer again, I returned the 1st battery, once i reported 2nd one faulty, he sent me a 3rd. The dealer has really positive feedback and good comment, it's just baffling?!
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872 Will not start up

I have the above mentioned computer and it is 2 years old. Last year in January the hard drive crashed and had to have new one installed at Best Buy. Now it will not start up. When I turn it on the Toshiba screen displays with F2 and F12 options. Then the creen goes black and the following displays:
    Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082)
    Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
    For realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet Controller v1.07 (080320)
PXE-E61: <edia test failure, check cable
    PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
I insert the recovery CD and it says windows loading files then has a screen that says Selecting a Process: Toshiba Recovery Wizard or System Recovery Options. I choose System Recover Options and then choose English language and US keyboard layout. Then the following screen comes up: Select an operating system to repair .... If you do not see your operating system listed click Load Drivers to load drivers for your hard disks. When I choose Load Drivers I do not know where to find the OS driver. When I click Next and choose Startup Repair it says it is unable to fix the problem automatically.
I don't want to choose Toshiba recover Wizard because it says it will erase everything. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday Feb 5!!!
During normal use of windows 7 the computer crashed and went through the same boot procedure as described by the previous poster.
Now I can't do anything with my hard drive. I tired everything. I even tried restoring it from the backup image that I have, but it said that it cannot find hard drive!
I do not have Toshiba Recovery. Can I download it from somewhere?
Does anyone have any suggestions? After booting from Win 7 Recovery Disk, I even tried fixing the MBR and partitions, but I would always get an error message that the system doesn't support the software I tried using (guessing because it's 64bit?)
Please, any suggestion is most welcome and appreciated!!!
    Thanks,
    Djape

  • Toshiba Satellite A305-S6852 wont start up

When I turn on my Toshiba Satellite A305-S6852 it goes through the screen that says Toshiba Leading Innovation screen but that goes away the screen turns black, the mouse pops up but after a few minutes. Then when I try to turn the computer off it won't turn off, I have to take out the battery and unplug the computer to get it to turn off. Can anyone please tell me how to get my computer back to working normal?

    Satellite A305-S6852
Let's just try a basic system reset and see if this helps bring your system back.  Power off your system, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power on button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, at the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, then try to boot into Windows again.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • My early 2011 MacBook Pro says battery not detected and does not work with a new battery either. Works only with the charger plugged in.

About a year back i had replaced the MLB of my early 2011 macbook pro and it was all working fine. A month back my battery went dead saying "Battery Not Detected". I went to Ample technologies, Bangalore, India and gave it for diagnosis. Ample technologies are the authorized Apple support service in Bangalore, India. After 3 days and no phone calls they email me that "They feel that the MLB MIGHT be the problem and they want to test it by replacing the MLB and i have to pay for their testing". I had already spent 40k indian rupees ($700) less than a year back to replace an MLB and now they want to replace it again at the cost of 43k ($750) indian rupees. I have no idea what to do now. Spending 80k indian rupees ($1400) in less than a year to replace the MLB twice sounds unfair to me. Can someone help me out here ? Is there a valid warranty period applicable , since i have changed the MLB a year back ?

short of doing a SMC reset, you maybe at their mercy.

  • Can't install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HDD

    Hello,
My HDD has died, so i decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660-1D9 to an SSD.
I made a bootable USB with Win8, and booted just fine.
The problem is that it does not detect my SSD so i can proceed with the install.
SSD shows up in BIOS, but not in Windows install.
It says there's a driver missing.
I downloaded AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even then, after selecting the only driver that appears, it says no new devices found.
I tried changing SATA mode from AHCI to Compatibility mode and it's the same..
    What can i do?
    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards,
    Bruno Moreira

Older Windows XP required an AHCI driver from Intel but I think this isnt a missing SATA driver issue because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers in order to recognize the HDD or SSD drive.
Furthermore the OS installation should be possible even if the driver would not be added... for this procedure you have to use the "compatibility mode".
As you said, the compatibility mode did not work too, so I think there is another problem.
However, Toshiba driver page provides also an Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver (Windows 8 - Upgrade) which you could try to add while OS installation.
But Im wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Did you try to format the SSD drive using another computer and then to install Win 8?
    Try it out.

  • Qosmio G10-133 - Battery not detected following Windows 7 upgrade

Hello, I hope someone can help my frustrations here.
Over the last couple of weeks I have successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 7, increased memory to 2gb, purchased new laptop power lead, brand new battery and and resolved every issue that Windows 7 threw at me. The laptop and works like a dream other than one issue that seems to have got worst.
The laptop no longer recognises the new battery.(picture of battery with cross through it and a power plug) For approximately a week after installing the battery it worked okay but now will not detect it all. I have no errors in the device manager and windows has recognised the ACPI battery entries etc and has no issues. I have also loaded the Toshiba value added package that Windows 7 found for me but still nothing. The battery does not even charge although sometimes the battery works for around 30 secs on boot up if the battery is removed and put back in, and then stops again (once Windows has loaded) I have tried numerous things like disabling driver, reinstalling battery etc but nothing. I did try the battery iniitally with Windows XP and worked fine.
I have also searched the web and have seen many other laptops with Windows 7 have had this problem, including Toshibas. Some say update the BIOS but Toshiba have not released an upgrade since the original one in 2004 (which is for WIn XP Media Center) and there are no settings in my BIOS for ACPI etc.
Also, I cannot calibrate the battery as I cannot do anything with it. I dont think this is an issue though.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it or any links to any drivers etc.
If this is sorted my laptop should last for another 5 years!
    Thanks for reading this.
    Dickie

    Hi
First of all I doubt that many other notebooks with Windows 7 have this issue. I never heard about this and normally the battery charging will not be controlled from the OS. It happens automatically and your battery will be charged if the AC/DC is plugged in. So the OS doesnt affect this!
To be honest I also dont know why your battery isnt detected but what happens if you power off the notebook and leave the AC/DC adaptor connected for 24 hours? After this it should be possible to work on battery minute for 1 hour or more.
If not it seems to be a hardware issue Maybe the battery doesnt work properly anymore and should be replaced. You should contact the dealer where you purchased it
By the way: Here are some nice and interesting tips about battery:

  • Satellite L50T-A - Touchpad not detected

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50T-A running Windows 8 64-bit. All of a sudden my touch pad has disappeared from settings. When I do a search for new hardware it is not detected either. Is it un plugged?
I would appreciate pictures with exactly what I must do.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello
If I understand you right touchpad is not detected and not listed in device manager, right?
Problem is that you cannot do much about that and force touchpad to work.
What you can try is to test functionality with factory settings. With other words, you can set BIOS to default settings and reinstall original recovery image. After doing this your notebook will have identical settings as on first day after first start.
If you do this and the result is the same it is possible that touchpad is defective or there is some problem with touchpad connection to the mainboard. This must be checked by Toshiba service.
Do you use external mouse at the moment?

  • Satellite L55-A5284 battery not charging

I have had this Toshiba Satellite L55-A5284 for about 11 months now.  Everything was going fine and then less than 5 days ago I unplugged the AC adapter and the laptop just went off.  Long story short went on Toshiba's troubleshooting section in Support and answered some questions and it told me that I needed a new AC Adapter.  Received the adapter today and plugged it in still have the same problem battery not charging.  I called Toshibal support and was told that my laptop has a built in battery and in order to change it without a fee being charged to me I would have to send my laptop to Toshiba and wait 7 to 10 days to get my laptop back.  I do not like this solution since alot of my personal information is on my laptop and the length of time I will be without my laptop.  Does anyone out there have any other suggestions for me to get the battery replaced free of charge?

If the Troubleshooting Assistant finds that you laptop needs a new battery, it can send you a battery as well. It'll work just like the swap with the AC adapter. Unfortunately, you'll have to change the battery yourself (or get someone to do it for you). I don't like commenting on the difficulty because it's so subjective. You'd have to take the bottom case off to reach it. It won't void your warranty, but if you damage anything else while attempting to change it, that could.

  • I have a Windows Vista desktop and an old XP laptop, both run Firefox perfectly. However, my Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop will not run ANY version of Firefox--constant "not responding" messages. Chrome and IE9 work perfectly. Help!!

To mostly repeat my question, I am a longtime Firefox user on both an XP laptop and a Vista desktop. So here I get the most "capable" computer of all, a Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop, 64-bit Windows 7, 4G RAM...and it won't run Firefox at all! I have installed an uninstalled both Firefox 3, and just now, Firefox 4. No changes. When I open the software, it usually just locks up for a minute or so, and I finally get a "not responding" message at the top of the screen.
Obviously there is something corrupt in the guts of my laptop. But both IE9 and Chrome work very well--Chrome is blazing fast. I still prefer Firefox because it works best with some particular software I use for work...but I have to go to one of my older computers to do it!
ANY solutions out there? This seems like a very odd problem.
Posting from the Firefox website...using Google Chrome!

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Toshiba Satellite C50 Startup Repair not working

Right, first off I am not very technologically savvy so apologies if I sound like I've no idea what I'm talking about because, really I don't.
My Toshiba Satellite C50 froze last night and I had no other option but to hold the power button down to turn it off. When it switched back on again it froze at the start screen as Windows was opening.  Alas, I had no other option but to press the power button down again, this time taking me to the Startup repair screen.  Now I've ran this about 10 times and it keeps running forever, not solving any repair issues at all.  Every time I try to start Windows normally it freezes at the same Windows is loading screen.
Also I cannot find the recovery disk that came with the laptop and have tried F8 but every option seems to take me to the Startup repair screen again which isn't solving anything.
    Please help!

There won't be a physical disc, no manufacturer's provide those nowadays. You can access the hard drive's recovery partition, which provides similar functionality, by holding the zero key while booting up, form there you can restore to the out of the box state. That will wipe all data on the drive, but if the hardware is still functional that should resolve the issue.

  • Battery Not Detected

I have a E420 (1141-CT0) & ran the System Update Manager and installed the battery firmware update that was advertised. Now, the battery is not detected. Is there an option to rollback a firmware update?
    Thanks a lot
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Could you please confirm whether the firmware update was successful?
Try performing the below troubleshooting steps.
Unplug AC adapter and Shutdown the system. Remove battery, Connect AC Adapter and Start windows. Uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery from device manager under the battery tab. Shutdown, Remove AC Adapter, Install battery, Reattach AC Adapter. Now, Power up and check.
Ensure that chipset drivers are updated to the latest version.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
