Toshiba Satellite C40T-ASP4268FM Recovery messed up, windows 8 re install

I bought this laptop Toshiba Satellite C40T-ASP4268FM, practically new, plastic protectors still attached. Tried to remove microsoft account by factory reset, because there is no other way to delete one. After that it asked me to check and restore windows and froze on 40% after several attempts I somehow managed to get back on windows, but then after shutdown froze after welcome screen. I decided to install linux,it prompted a message that I could not install it. I tried to go back to windows 8, I have a DVD with an ISO I downloaded from Microsoft page before the release of 8.1, but I can´t install it because is a wrong Key. So I assume It would be the same with windows 8.1. It does not boot a DVD with windows 7, So I pretty much ended up with an expensive paper weight. How can I re install windows 8? I'm Mexican and so is the laptop.

  • Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5320 recovery help!

All the pc does is go to the Toshiba Splash screen, and then a blue screen that says "Recovery your PC needs to be repaired. A required device isn't connected or can't be accesed. Error code: 0x0000185.
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media contact your system administrator or PC manufactuer."  I have tried resetting the firmware and also holding down 0 like Toshiba instructs. However, after I select yes to get into the HDD recovery, the screen flashes white and then goes right back to the same recovery screen no matter what I do. It's very irritating when I can't even get recovery to work -___-. Someone please help me out? I don't have any recovery disks, etc.

To restore your laptop back to it's "ORIGINAL FACTORY SPECS" you must 1st access "Boot Options" on your Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5320, or similar model & here's what worked for me. Start the laptop while tapping the "F12" key. This will open your boot options menu. At the very bottom of the list is an option called "HDD Recover"...click on it if you want to be able to access your "Advance System Recovery Options" where you'll be given new options allowing you to restore your laptop back to it's original factory specs. Please don't forget to give me "Kudos" by clicking onto my Kudos button next to my post if my solution was able to help you in any way...thanks.~: )  (((A+ Discount Computer Repair, Alb, NM)))

  • Satellite L505-141 - Recovery disk contains Windows 7 32bit

    Hello,
I bought my computer last year around March. The operation system I got with the laptop was Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Lately I'm thinking of format my laptop by using the Recovery CD that I receviced with the laptop. I dont know why but the recovery CD has Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit! Why its 32bit and not 64bit?
The laptop comes with 6GB Ram and Core i5 and I wont benefit my laptop with 32bit Operation System. Is this normal? I was suppose to get the 32bit operation system (really wired if u guys make a laptop with 6gb memory)! This really makes me feel angry. I feel like I was tricked.
If ts the company that I bought the laptop from and not Toshiba's fault I demand and investigation or something like that since they really make a bad name for u guys.
Please answer me as soon as possible.
    tnx,
    Andrei Braunstein.

    Hello
Before you wrote such stuff that is not correct please check the specifications on Toshiba website first and have a look in your *user manual* !
The notebook was delivered with a recovery disk that is Windows 7 32bit so everything is ok with this disk and you got the correct one.
The interesting point is that the recovery disk for Windows 7 64bit you have to create yourself as mentioned in *user manual* ! You can create this disk using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. You need some blank DVDs to create the disks and thats all. After doing this you can restore the preinstalled Windows 7 64bit everytime when you want.
Now its too late for doing this but you can order a recovery disk here:
    https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
I can understand you that it would be better using 64bit Windows on a notebook with 6GB RAM but dont forget some older applications dont run on 64bit and require 32bit. Furthermore Im wondering that you dont saw a message that reminds you to create the recovery disk. This message you get after the first start of your computer:
    +Important INFORMATION+
+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+

  • Setup OneKey recovery after clean Windows 8.1 install

    Hello,
I have Lenovo Z50-70 notebook. I bought a 32GB SSD to speed it up and installed it instead of optical drive as drive for system. I performed a clean Windows 8.1 install. Now I started looking for a way how to setup a one key recovery again. I found on some forums that you have to make some steps before installation itself or that you need some files which were preinstalled. I cannot reinstall system now and i have no backups of preinstalled tools. Is there any way to  set up one key recovery so the one key recovery button would work again and I would have a partition on my second drive (HDD) to backup my system (SSD) ? Is there a way to set it up so manually?
    Thanks

You might be the second person that aim to do it with Cyberlink, the maker of the program, being the first. Good luck.

This site is for US computers. I doubt you'll get your questions for that Canadian model answered here.
There appear to be two recovery partitions. Maybe one for 32- and one for 64-bit Windows. Or maybe one is for English and the other for French.
Your User's Manual isn't much help either. You probably need to ask Toshiba tech support in Canada.
About all I have to offer is this: Be wary of drives with advanced-format technology. See my message about that.

  • Sun Virtual Box & Toshiba Satellite L10 - product recovery settings problem

    Hi-
I had a problem a while back with my Satellite L10 and was unable to get full recovery settings after installing Sun Virtual Box and ignoring Microsoft warnings.
I suspect this has now cloned my disk. Something is very very wrong. I am using Win 7 beta in the interim but would like my XP back.
My notes to Sun Microsystems are here:
Has anyone had the same experience or what does Toshiba recommend?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi -
Thanks very much for the advice.
It's really strange as the system runs through Win 98 options on booting the product recovery dvd but then gets you to a full & perfect toshiba L10 XP.
I reinstalled XP and went through the process you mentioned above (F8 etc) after installing - at least my safe boot mode options etc. are there.
My guess is that either the disk itself picked up on the cloning or something outside the HDD has been cloned or produced an 'image' of the previous HDD.
If I want to get a new product recovery dvd (as a next step in my investigation) can I download from the net or do I have to order from Toshiba (is this a good course of action?...).
My system can only burn cd's, but I could get someone else to burn a dvd for me if this is possible.
    Thanks....

  • Satellite Pro L40 - Sound Driver after Windows XP SP3 Install

    Hi,
I had bought the Satellite Pro L40 about 6 months ago and the speed of the laptop was too slow with windows Vista. So I decided to install an old copy of windows XP that I had bought earlier. I upgraded the windows installation to SP3 before installing all the drivers.
Now all the drivers have been installed properly except the sound driver. I downloaded the XP version of the driver from the toshiba website but it did not work. So I though maybe the vista version would work, so I downloaded that. But that didn't work either.
Can anyone suggest a solution where I can get the sound driver to work? Preferably without having to get the windows reinstalled again.
    Please help me out...!
    Thanks

    hi there,
Try reinstalling the soundcard driver for XP; Just go here -- > [Realtek Soundcard Driver fo XP|http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/sound-20071120150900.zip]

  • Messed up Windows 8.1 install after using Boot Camp 4 drivers

Hey guys, I just finished successfully installing Windows 8.1 on my Mac with Lion. There were no issues there, but I royally screwed up the Windows partition after trying to install the Boot Camp support software from a USB flash drive. I didn't look into it enough and am now realizing (after the fact of course) that I needed Boot Camp 5.1 for support for Windows 8.1!
I realized that something was wrong when I tried to install the drivers and software from my Boot Camp 4.0.4 and I received a prompt on Windows telling me that it expected Windows 7 instead and then asked me to run in compatibility mode to see if that works. I stupidly clicked yes and then my Windows locked the screen on me. So of course, I unlocked it and the display is all messed up with my battery indicator at the top left, most of the screen is black and a small portion on the right side is not black. It instantly locks itself again. I can only repeat the process with no way to correct it (that I know of).
Is this install of Windows 8.1 salvageable? I am getting the new drivers from Boot Camp 5.1 now, but it won't help if I can't even get to the desktop for Windows. Help!

Right - this would be the easiest thing to do. Will I have issues the Windows license being activated again? I have actually never had to reinstall before so I have never had license issues.

  • Messed up Windows Boot Partition Installing Linux

I have rEFlt installed and I had put the Windows 7 x64 RC on my 13 inch MacBook Pro. I shrunk the partition and installed Ubuntu alongside it and now when I try to boot Windows it tells me there is a corrupt file in the BCD (which is the windows boot sector). I have this problem a lot messing with partitions so I stuck the RC in my computer and booted it and when I tried to access the repair tool it said this computer's install disc doesn't match the Windows installation (it's the exact same disc, I tried the Vista disc too and it gave me the same error). I tried supergrub and it didn't boot into it right so I can never access the right stuff. I was wondering if there's a program I can pull from the internet or something to run in OS X that fixes the BCD. My Ubuntu partition works (sort of, Ubuntu is definitely not meant for Macs) and I tried running ms-sys or something by that name and it wouldn't compile right. I'm out of ideas and I would like to have Windows 7 working...

Figured it out. I have an odd feeling no one would have been able to help me anyway lol

  • Palm 755P (Sprint) not synchronizing with new Toshiba Satellite L305D operatig Windows Vista.

OK Please help the new guy....
I have a Treo that is a month old. It was previously synchronized with my old computer. My old computer took the dive. I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5938t aht is running Windows Vista.
I tried to locate the Palm Desktop via the disk in the Treo box from Sprint. No dice. The Desktop loaded, but I can't synchronize my Treo. There is no available USB connection.
So, I played around with it and tried to get it to connect via bluetooth.... NO DICE.
    Very frustrating.....
Does anyone have any advise at all?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Anybody out there have a solution?
Has anybody beside me encountered this problem too?
    Please advise.....
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.  My first assumption is your Vista is a 64bit version.  That being the case there are no usb drivers available which is the reason for the problem trying to sync via cable.  You are headed in the right direction as bluetooth is the only way your going to sync.  First the computer has to be bluetooth compatible or you need to purchase a bluetooth dongle and get it installed and then get the two to pair.  From there if you go the the windows hotsync thread here you will find a sticky that explains the process.  Also here is a knowledge base article about how to sync via bluetooth.  http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/nua/launchKB.asp?c=41559

  • Trouble deleting partions.... Toshiba Satellite P505-S8010

I have a new Toshiba Satellite P505-S8010.  It can with Win 7 installed.  I hate Win 7 so I want to install Win XP 64Bit Sp2.  I have put the DVD into the drive (and set BIOS to compatible mode). I get to the windows set-up screen were you can del or create partitions and tell it were you want to install Windows.  There are currently 3 partitions listed:
    1) 1.5 GB System partition
    2) 240 GB Main partition
    3) 300 MB (unknown partition)
I tried to del partition 1 and it won't let me.  Why ???  then I tried to create a partition within the 240 GB main partition and it said ok ... but then when I tried to format the partition it said "Denied" why ???
I want to del ALL partions and create a couple new ones ... why cant I ??  it seems like they are locked somehow but I have never seen that before ... ??
Please advise me on what to do to del the partitions (via windows setup)
    Thanks !!
    John

that is all the recovery partitions. make a set of recovery media using the recovery media creator program on the laptop. for 2 reasons.
1.incase xp wont run correctly you can get your system back up and running.
    2. you can use the media to completely wipe the hdd.
then you will have a completely clean hdd to start from.

  • Satellite P305-S8820 - FN key not working after clean install of Windows 7

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P305-S8820. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7. I have loaded the Toshiba value added driver pack and the trackpad driver but still cannot get the trackpad or the FN key to work.
    Any ideas?

    Hello John
You are like other millions other users and what you can read is relevant for you but sometimes it works a little bit different. For you it can be useless but sometimes it helps. Fact is that this utility is offered for some notebook models.
Generally speaking you are right and after VAP installation the job should be done but Ive faced the same problem in the past. Sometimes it works well and sometimes not. You will not believe me but in the past I used stuff for Satellite P300 to get all stuff working on Satellite A350. I cannot explain why this happen and it sounds crazy but it is the truth.
You can also try to play a little bit with VAP installation. Try to install VAP for A300/A350/P300. Generally speaking it is the same and if this will not work well you can remove it from the system.
Launcher for flash cards? It must be listed in MSCONFIG > startup > TcrdMain.exe
