Toshiba Satellite M645-4070 windows 7 64 bit reinstall

I had to reinstall windows 7 on my computer.  Luckily I already had a legal copy of windows 7.  I need to know what exact Toshiba drivers to install to make sure my system is running right and there are no hardware conflicts.  Thanks, Andy

Unfortunately, you have probably wiped out the Toshiba Recovery partition on your HDD when you used the Windows 7 64bit retail disk to reinstall your OS. As well, it sounds like you never made a set of Toshiba Recovery disks before this mishap. The info for all this begins on page 61 of your Satellite M640 Series User’s Guide.
Using the recovery utility would have rebuilt your HDD to its factory default out-of-the-box state, including the recovery partition, Win 7 64bit, all Toshiba drivers and utilities, and all software your system originally came with. If you do not think you wiped out the recovery partition when you reinstalled Windows, then while powering on the system you could try holding down the '0' (zero) key until you see the Toshiba Recovery utility menu. If this doesn't work see this article:
Pressing the Zero Key While Powering on the Computer Does Not Start the Toshiba Recovery Wizard
If none of the above works, you can still order a set of recovery media from Toshiba, which I would strongly recommend. Rebuilding the recovery partition, and having a set of recovery disks for backup, could save you a lot of grief on this, and on any future rebuilds.

However, if your recovery partition won't work and you are unwilling to order a set of recovery media, then see these instructions and use this utility:

  • Touch sensitive multimedia buttons don't work ! (Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050)

I've Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050. My multimedia touch buttons don't work except Vol+ and Vol-. All of them are making sounds when I touched but no action! 1) I uninstalled Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP), 2) rebooted the machine, 3) installed TVAP then 4) rebooted again. But nothing's changed. 5) I reinstalled all Toshiba Utilities includes Assist and Flash Cards but same result. Also 6) I unplugged the battery and AC adapter because of static energy issue possibility and 7) choosed the default settings from the BIOS menu. Still same ! What am I supposed to do ?

If it's under warranty, I'd send it back to Toshiba and have them fix it right this time. It took 2 repairs for the Depot to fix my problem, by replacing the mother-board.
Call customer relations and try to get it sent to Toshiba "VIP" Tri-Star repair facility in Garden Grove CA 92843, they repair it when their regular service tech's can't get it right the first, or second time.
Fix it now, or it will be a hassle for you as long as you own it.

The main concern right now for me is to get my personal data and files from the computer. I still have other computer to use, so I am not so worried about start up the computer. I want to find out a way to first back up my personal data and files from the computer to an external devices, then try to fix the computer. Thank you.

Yes, that's exactly what you should do first. Later we'll try to resurrect Windows. This is my favorite way nowadays.
     1. Prepare a thumb drive formatted in FAT32. It doesn't need to be large. This stuff only occupies 130 MB on mine.
    2. Download UNetbootin to create the thumb drive.
    3. Download a Puppy Linux .iso file for the operating system.
    4. Run Unetbootin-windows-xxx.exe and point it to the Lupu-xxx.iso file to create a bootable drive.
    5. When you power on your computer, hold down the F12 key. That should give you the opportunity to choose the boot drive.
    6. For some tips, scroll down to the following sections at this web page.

  • No audio output device is installed - Satellite C855D-S5950 - Windows 8 64-bit

    Toshiba laptop
    Model: Satellite C855D-S5950
    P/N: PSCBQU-03G03E
    OS: Windows 8 64bit
    RAM: 4GB.
    Hello,
I have my friend’s Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5950 with Windows 8 (64bit) that about a year old.  Some months ago the sound stopped working.  He asked me to take a look at it.  I have researched this issue and found others have encountered his problem as well.
Currently, the sound icon has a red x, “No audio output device is installed.”
Things I have tried so far to try to fix this:
I went to the Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers. I have "Realtek High Definition Audio" listed with the little yellow caution icons on them. I have tried to disable, then enable it.  I have tried to uninstall the sound driver from the Device Manager.  I would restart the laptop, and let the driver reinstall itself, to no effect. I have tried downloading the latest drivers from the Toshiba website. I have tried un-installing the driver while in safe mode from the Device Manager.  As well as from Programs and Features.   There were no positive change to the audio though, still the same message. The Realtek driver won't finish installing and throws the error: "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!! [Error Code: 0x000000FF]"
I have gone to Control Panel > Sound, under both the Playback and Recording tabs, it says "No audio devices are installed."
My friend was previously unaware of how to restart or shut down his Windows 8 laptop (as was I until I started investigating this problem for him).  I mention this because there are no useful System Restore points to go back to for him.
I have also tried Using the Toshiba Application Installer as well to re-install the driver after un-installing the Realtek Audio driver from Add/Remove Programs.  I went to Desktop Assist >Support Recovery > Toshiba Application Installer.
    Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6743
It loads most of the way then I get:
"Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!! [Error Code: 0x000000FF]"
I have also tried the following links for additional troubleshooting:
    http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Audio-Sound-Knowledge-Base/Windows-8-Troubleshoot-no-sound-with-Windows...

    http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Audio-Sound/No-Sound-quot-No-Audio-Output-Device-is-installed-quot-Tosh...
It was also suggested in the above thread I remove the Microsoft UAA Driver, but could not find this driver on my friend’s system.
Plugging in headphones, toggling the speaker volume controls on the keyboard has had no effect.
My friend has also misplaced his install discs, so I am looking for any solution which does not require the install discs.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Recovery media is created from the hard drive. You can make it using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. You can also perform a full system reset to factory defaults using the information on the hard drive without using external recovery media. That sounds like the best course of action now. To do so, use Windows+C > Settings > Power > SHIFT + Restart > Troubleshoot > Reset your PC.

  • Palm 755P (Sprint) not synchronizing with new Toshiba Satellite L305D operatig Windows Vista.

OK Please help the new guy....
I have a Treo that is a month old. It was previously synchronized with my old computer. My old computer took the dive. I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5938t aht is running Windows Vista.
I tried to locate the Palm Desktop via the disk in the Treo box from Sprint. No dice. The Desktop loaded, but I can't synchronize my Treo. There is no available USB connection.
So, I played around with it and tried to get it to connect via bluetooth.... NO DICE.
    Very frustrating.....
Does anyone have any advise at all?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Anybody out there have a solution?
Has anybody beside me encountered this problem too?
    Please advise.....

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.  My first assumption is your Vista is a 64bit version.  That being the case there are no usb drivers available which is the reason for the problem trying to sync via cable.  You are headed in the right direction as bluetooth is the only way your going to sync.  First the computer has to be bluetooth compatible or you need to purchase a bluetooth dongle and get it installed and then get the two to pair.  From there if you go the the windows hotsync thread here you will find a sticky that explains the process.  Also here is a knowledge base article about how to sync via bluetooth.  http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/nua/launchKB.asp?c=41559

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro A10,Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hi everyone,
    I have a "Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4-M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB/768 MB".
I installed the Windows XP Service pack-2 in my notebook.
After updating to winXP SP2, the only way to start up my comp after putting it in "standby mode" or "hibernation mode" is to witch power off and then start up.
I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver" but nothing came of it.
What can i do about it?
    Kind regards,
    Krasteff

    Hi Krasteff
Your problem is difficult. If I had it, I'd try to make the status of the OS as clean as possible.
Try killing as many of the funny SYSTRAY applications as possible - means the small icons in the SYSTRAY. Some of them will not be killed that easily. Don't spend hours trying...
Then also try killing any, as You mentioned, antivirus or other services that are not necessary for the system. Check also that You do not have any USB / PC Card devices attached to the system.
    Then try again.
Works better? Then "walk backwards" means try attaching the devices / starting the applications one by one and retry Hibernating. Keep track of what You reconnect/restart so You know what You did last when the system fails to start up again. There You have the cause of the problem and then You also know where to look for the solution.
    Hope it helps!
    BR Tom

    Hi,
I'm looking for the wifi drivers for my Toshiba satellite c660 PSC1LE laptop.

  • Satellite L500-21T & Windows 8 64-bit

I changed my operating system to windows 8 64bit , all hardware defined by windows except chipset & blutooth (I defined them once from Windows 7 another time from latest model like L830). but the function key not working (for wirekess/blutooth on/off ).
Is there any drivers for L500-21T for windows 8 64bit or from specific new compatible models drivers?

    > Is there any drivers for L500-21T for windows 8 64bit...
On http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/checkWindows8Compatible.do?service=EU you can check if your notebook is supported for Win8 OS.
One more thing: your notebook has Intel HM55 Express Chipset. Interesting is that Tecra A11 with part number PTSE0E has the same chipset and it is supported for Win8 so you can try to use chipset driver offered for this Tecra notebook.

  • Toshiba Satellite L305-S5883 Windows 7 clean install problem

I just got a new 500gb Seagate HDD (yuck, but they were on sale).  I try to do a fresh install of windows 7 with the drive plugged in and it gets to unpacking 1% and then has an error and wont detect the hard drive until I restart the laptop.  I figure that I got a bad hard drive or windows disk so I try another windows disk and the same thing.  So I figure ill try the hard drive in another system. I pop it in with the first disk and it installs fine.  I don't really know what would cause this, the toshiba has the latest bios.  On another note I also tried XP install disk and that didnt even see a hard drive.

I suspect it's a variation of this situation.
The RTM version of Windows 7's installation package does not handle the new advanced-format drives.

  • Satellite P300 PSPC4A - Windows 7 / 32 bit post install - freeze on start

This unit was loaded bare with generic Win7 Enterprise from CD and devices not sensed by the OS were loaded from the Toshiba site. On boot, every time, the internal keyboard and trackpad freezes. Plugging in an external mouse allows me to reboot. Post reboot, unit works correctly. Freeze occurs only after a hard shutdown. Ideas?

    > On boot, every time, the internal keyboard and trackpad freezes. Plugging in an external mouse allows me to reboot. Post reboot, unit works correctly. Freeze occurs only after a hard shutdown
There are no special keyboard drivers. Keyboard driver is a part of Win 7 OS.
There are just touchpad drivers for the notebook but I dont see any reasons why it should freezes while Win booting
Maybe you should reinstall the OS again just to check if its not Win OS issue

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600; Windows unable to load.

A friend recently gave me a refurbished model of this laptop that was updated with Windows XP Pro and it worked for about a month before a windows system file was corrupted. I got a new OS disc and replaced the file and it worked fine for about another month and when I started it today it gave me a message saying "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." and gives me a list of reboot options. I haven't installed anything at all or changed anything.
I've also tried each of the options and none will work. I get a blue screen that flashes up for a split second and then it goes back to the screen with the restart options.
I've tried going to the BIOS menu and setting it up for it to start with the cd drive with the OS disc in place to try to reformat and I get a screen with a short message that says "Media Test Failure. Check Cable" and then returns to the screen with the with the restart options. I've run out of ideas and nothing online I've been able to find so far has helped. If anyone has any ideas at all I would love to hear them.
I want to completely reformat this laptop if it's not too late.
Any help would be appreciated. Much thanks.
    Joy

    Thanks,
The HDD shows up in BIOS and the Media Test Failure, Check Cable message only appears when I try to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
Otherwise I get the screen giving me the option to start with safe mode, normally or a couple other options I can't remember from the top of my head. And then the blue screen of death flashes for a split second and says "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME " STOP 0x000000ED (0xaaaaaaaa,0xbbbbbbbb,0xcccccccc,0xdddddddd)
I haven't the faintest clue what happened to my poor laptop, but I believe it's decided it doesn't like me anymore.

  • Satellite M645 - How to reset the touch buttons?

    Hello everyone.
I have a Satellite M645 with Windows 7 / 64 bit and recently some of the touch buttons have stopped working. These include the eco utilities, wireless, lighting, play/pause, mute and touch pad on/off button. Strangely the volume up and down work fine.
All the buttons are lighted all the time and when touched they go off (as regular) it is just that the function they're meant to do is not done.
For this I found a similar threat (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=248139&#248139), but when trying to install *Toshiba Value Added Package* and *Flash Cards Support Utility* from the website the file I download can't be installed as I get this message:
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows is running. Check the computer's system information to see if you need an x86 or x64 version of the program and then contact your supplier."
I've tried installing both (x86 & x64) but neither of them work. That's it for now, I really appreciate any advice or side solution you can give me.

    Hey,
Where have you downloade Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility? I have done a Google search and it seems that Satellite M645 is an US model and therefore all drivers and tools can be downloaded here:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com
Make sure you download the correct version of VAP and Flash Cards Support Utility. That means if you have Windows 7 64bit you have to download the 64bit version too.
Another question: Have you installed all other drivers like chipset?
Also try to load the default settings in BIOS and test it again.
