Toshiba Satellite P25-S676 wont go into bios.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P25-S676 - When turning it on, it goes through the initial memory check, and gives options for hitting f2 to go into bios, or f12 to change boot sequence.  If I don't hit a key, it proceeds, but goes to a black screen and stays there. If I hit F2 it shows the message "entering setup..." then goes to a black screen.  When pressing f12, I get the message "entering boot sequence.." and then black screen.  It never goes into windows, or bios or boot sequence.  It goes right to a black screen and stays there.
The intial text when turning on the computer is bright, and clear, so I don't think it's the backlight.  Suggestions?
Thanks,
Charlie

you may also want to try a few other things while you at it.
remove battery and unplug the charger and then hold down the power button for 30 seconds.  re-install battery and try booting up (with and without charger adapter plugged in).
If you have personal information on the hard drive that you want to preserve and do not have a backup, you should focus on doing that first.  This may entail removal of the HD and connecting it to a working computer and then doing a backup of those files.  This will aslo tell you if the HD is working or not.
Burn a xp repair disk and try booting from that (although if you can't get f12 to chnage the boot sequence this may not work).
Give more detail as to what the indicator lights do when you attempt to boot.

my satellite pro c850 cd wont work after bios update from toshiba.
    what do i do?

Saying: dont work you mean it does not power up or what do you mean exactly?
Did you flash the BIOS properly?
Possibly something went wrong during the update and this means that ROM module isnt flashed properly
In most cases a special BIOS crisis disk would be needed to get it working
Not quite sure if you can get it fixed by your own

  • Toshiba Satellite A305-S6852 wont start up

When I turn on my Toshiba Satellite A305-S6852 it goes through the screen that says Toshiba Leading Innovation screen but that goes away the screen turns black, the mouse pops up but after a few minutes. Then when I try to turn the computer off it won't turn off, I have to take out the battery and unplug the computer to get it to turn off. Can anyone please tell me how to get my computer back to working normal?

Let's just try a basic system reset and see if this helps bring your system back.  Power off your system, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power on button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, at the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, then try to boot into Windows again.
Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 wont let me download

I just got a new Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 yesterday, and I downloaded a couple of programs already, then I had trouble downloading a few:
    iTunes
    MapleStory
    Sony Vegas 8
    There's different problems with each program, But iTunes and Sony Vegas always run the same;
They open, ask run or cancel, and when I press run, this window pops up.
With Maplestory, it opens, extracts the file, THEN the same window pops up. I don`t know what I did. My brother has a Toshiba with Windows 7 too and it works perfectly fine for him.
I`ve searched all day long, and nothing works. Running as administrator does nothing, it still happens. I would reformat or clear my hard drive, but I didn`t get a disk to reinstall Windows 7 onto my laptop.
    Any Solutions?

Sony Vegas Pro 8 doesn't run under Windows 7 according to Sony.  Only version 9 runs under WIn 7 so that takes care of that.
    What version of iTunes?
Have you checked with Maplestory or Apple about what you need to run their software on WIndows 7?

Looking for help! I was having problems with IE not responding so decided to upgrade to internet explorer 9 during process I needed to know if I had a 64 or 32 bit. So I minimized to check on my start menu and all my icons were gone. After pulling up internet again I looked around to find solutions someone suggested turning it off and manually starting in safe mode. Usually nothing comes up. Occasionally I get Windows boot manager which says "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause." It wants me to insert my windows installation disc which I do not have. I once got an error message saying "An Error has occurred error:F3-F100-0003" Most of the time it is just a black screen with a blinking cursor dot. Interestingly after commandeering my sons computer I find the internet a lot faster than it was on my new Toshiba. My security was up and running and said there were no problems however my computer had been slow and not responding for a while a lot of times it wouldn't turn off so I had to put it to sleep now it sleeps eternally. Please help my son wants his computer back and I think I want mine back.

  • K9n4 sli wont boot into bios

this is a new build my specs are
    motherboard           k9n4 sli
    cpu                     amd anthlon 64 x2 4600
    ram                     ocz 6400 dual channel 2x 2gig

hard drive               wd 500 gig sata
    heat sink                ocz vendetta
so like the title says I can not get into the bios, I get a very loud single beep, now the best way I can describe the beep is as an angry beep.  Sounds stupid I know.  Now when I look up the beep it seems that it could be a memory or cpu, the cpu beep is described as high/low siren, I don't really get that, but it is higher pitched then a normal beep.  I have tried moveing the ram around and only putting one stick in.  I have tried to clear the bios.  It seems that something is not working right or incompatable.  my money is on the ram, cpu,or motherboard.  The sad thing is I cant really switch out any of those things.   I have the feeling that it might be the cpu,but would like some feedback before I  rma anything.
any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

not sure by which one do you mean
    amd athlon 64 x2 4600 socket am2
probably the first thing to get upgraded but should be compatable or am i missing something
There are several models "amd athlon 64 x2 4600 socket am2".

Also i've asked to double check that you have 4600+ {and not 6400+, because 6400+ is not supported}.
    Have you plugged CPU FAN in CPU-FAN connector to the mainboard? {Not in SYSFAN}

  • System wont go into bios setup

I called HP support to help me fix a display adapter problem.  I had set the screen resolution to a setting higher than could be displayed by my monitor.  I asked the guy how to boot the computer in Safe Mode so that I could change the resolution.  This guy had no idea how to put the computer in Safe Mode.  After an hour or so of him having me restart the computer, and push buttons, I finally got frustrated as this guy obviously had no clue what he was doing.  I told him tha I would figure it out myself.  Well, I finally got the resolution fixed, but durring all of the powering up and down the hard drive boot sector got corrupt.  I ran a repair on it, and got it fixed without loosing my data or programs.  All was fine until I completely shut it down.  Now, it wont Boot, Post or anything.  After complete power down, I removed the Cmos battery for a minute, replaced it, and tried again.  A couple of times a screen came up telling me my clock was wrong, press F1.  I pressed F1, but nothing happened I powered it down and followed the steps to reset the Password, and Cmos by moving the Jumpers.  Both jumpers are now back on the two posts closest to the hardrive connection. Now I have a new issue.  The computer spins up, all fans come on.  The Blue light on the Power button is Blue, not Yellow.  When it initally spins up, the Yellow light for the hardrive is amber, then goes off.  In less than a minute, the computer powers down for about 10 seconds, and then starts up.  Then in less than a minute it starts the cycle all over. Please help, Bill

  • Cannot get into BIOS, No POST screen appear!

Here I am, stuck at the boot.
I am struggling for hours now but cannot make my Satellite L850-Y5310 to boot into BIOS. I have Ubuntu Linux installed on It and last time I remembered I was into bios I was experimenting with some new options like "Rapid Boot" or Fast boot (Not sure) but certainly that is the reason I am now unable to see any option to press 'any' key to get into bios or to select the boot device. As soon as I press the power button It takes me to the GRUB screen and Ubuntu boot up. That is really Fast as the Fastboot feature is expected to do but now it is nothing more than a trouble for me.
Anyone have any idea how can I access the BIOS now ? Just dont tell me get back to windows, I know there is an SSD containing the installation package and it will install a fresh copy of windows 7 for me but I just dont wanna do that.
I want to get back to the BIOS anyhow, or at least be able to see the POST screen so that I can press the respective key to enter the BIOS or Boot device selection menu.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

When you have Fast Boot selected, you get into Setup by holding down the F2 key while starting the machine. While you are in the BIOS, you can change the Boot back to Normal.  If you were using Windows 7, I could give you another way to change Fast Boot but I don't know whether it would work using Ubuntu. You can try by typing HWSetup in the Start/Search box, hit Enter and select the Boot Setting tab where you can make the change.

  • Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from USB or DVD

My new toshiba Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from usb, or dvd ,
i have downloaded win 8.1 and burn image to dvd but i still get an error message "no bootable device......please restart system" .
    Can some one plz help?

    Hi
Does Satellite C50-A634 supports internal CD/DVD drive or did you try to boot from external optical disk drive?
You have to know that _Satellite C50 & Satellite C50D models *without* a built-in ODD_ are not able to boot from an external ODD due to a technical limitation.
    Details here:
[Limitation of external boot media for Satellite, Satellite Pro C50 & C50D devices|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03JA0000R01.htm]
Only USB flash drives are supported as external boot devices!
It is necessary you can use a USB flash drive as recovery media on notebooks without a built-in ODD.

  • New K9N2 SLI Platinum isn't booting into BIOS

So i just built a new system with an MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum, and installation went by with a breeze. However, after supplying power, and turning the system on for the first time I'm met with absolutely nothing.
I'm not the most advanced in this category, and I've certainly never experienced the likes of this ever. I've gone through the hardware configuration a thousand times, and I'd know if it were that.
I was wondering if anybody knew a few tricks to get this new board to boot. I'm suspecting it's probably something small and obvious I wouldn't ever think of.
But yeah, any help would be much appreciated.
    Current System:
    Mobo: MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9850 (black edition)/stock cooler
    RAM: Corsair Dominator 2x2048Mb 1066Mhz DDR2
GPU: PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GTX
    HDD1: Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB 10K RPM
    HDD2: Seagate Barracude 1.5TB 7200RPM
No operating systems yet (which is kind of impossible since I can't even set the boot order without the BIOS loading.) But I plan to run XP Pro alongside Gentoo.

All fans are spinning fine, I'll get the PSU info later, I took it from an old system I built before my last deployment. It's an 850 watt (single 12 volt rail) system, not sure the exact specs on it anymore.
I do believe though, that I've managed to knock something loose as it keeps beeping repeatedly now when it boots. Before it was absolute silence on boot. (which is weird because i don't actually remember installing the speaker?)
Oh, the DVD drive is from another system too, and pretty old, but it opens, and functions.
I also swapped between onboard video, and the graphics card to see if it was maybe the graphics card and still nothing.
Though I have to use a DVI converter with the graphics card (which is pretty lame for a 200+ dollar graphics card to have two DVI ports and an SVID port, but no HDMI port.)
Anyway, I originally tried to boot with my 1080P television connected into the HDMI DVI* port for the mobo.
Keep good language in a forum!
Now if I can just figure out what was wrong in the first place eh?
It seems the reset button allowed it to boot into the BIOS, but a regular boot wont?
Edit: Still wont boot into BIOS or POST though, I'm met with a blinking line that's been there for over 10 minutes now.

  • Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7901 Bios update Pc wont boot

I recently downloaded a bios file for my laptop form the support site to reinstall my bios, i made a boot disk from the image and restarted my PC, the bios screen opened and appeared to be working, but my PC shut down during the process and now when I hit the power button the sceen doesn't turn on but the CPU fan and indicator lite will turn on, also i attempted to put the bios image disk in after this to see if it might run even tho the bios appear to be damaged since it acts like it reads from the rom, but no luck. Any suggestions would be great I love my satellite and would hate for the bios to be such an issue.

Try taking the battery out and disconnecting the power from it.
Then hit the pwer button to make sure the capacitors are discharged.
Then reconnect the power and battery and see if it will post.  I have seen that work on a few occasions.

  • Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 stuck on toshiba logo after bios change

My Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 is stuck on toshiba logo after bios change.
entered bios fine changes from UEFI to CSM boot and now i cannot enter bios or boot past toshiba logo.
Ive tried F2 tapping and holding while powering up the laptop(tried every Fkey,DEL,ESC, with and without FN key)
    cannot re-enter bios.
Also i tried to run the bios update cd created multiple  1.50 1.40 even 1.00, it doesnt seem to read any media.
i tried holding C, FN+C and f and just about every key on the keyboard to get something to work. i had dvd as top of boot priority for a while now so i shouldnt have to try f12 or holding C before boot but i tried . it doesnt seem to read any media
i tried windows 8 install cd, Ubuntu, centos, nothing goes past toshiba logo and no errors, i dont get the non bootable device error so its seems to not be reading the dvd. (dvd does spin and make read noises) im trying to find my usb floppy drive to try a floppy version but it acts like its not reading any media.
I also pulled the HDD and all usb devices to make the dvd the only media available and with the HDD out it spins then toshiba logo then black screen with solid white  horizontal curser on top left of screen.(only happens when hdd out)
is there some type of key combination that will force a bios update or a crisis recovery mode for bios.
I also Pulled the battery for 2 solid days(battery, cmos battery, and power supply and held power button for about 10 mins while watching tx to make sure the thing was drained before the 2 day sit with no power at all.
this happened the second i changed from UEFI to CSM boot so its not a motherboard problem or anything like that because all was well before this setting change.
I already pulled the HDD and backed it up to another drive and swapped it to elimiate that.
any ideas on a secret key combo to force a bios read from dvd or usb or anythng.
or another combo that im just missing to enter bios after CSM boot.
    UPDATE
to do a crisis recovery on this laptop
1 get a usb stick and format it in fat or fat32
2 download "7zip" and install it if you dont have it.
3 download bios from toshiba website.
4 run the installer for bios but dont choose and option just close it we just want to extract the files to the location normally  c:\splnvxxx where xxx is the version number like 150
5 goto the installed locaion "c:\splnv150" or whatever number.
    6. find file os2014273a_150 or something similar. it will be an application, it will end in version number _150, and it will also have a disc image file of the same name. but we want the app.
    7. right click on it and you should have an option 7zip then extract
once extracted there is a folder now archesxxxxxx_bios_v150_win
8 copy the bios file located in archesxxxxxblahblah/X64/BIOS.fd , BIOS.fd is the bios and just copy that to a BLANK usb thumb drive that was formatted with fat or fat32.
    9. put usb into your satellite and unplug the power from it.
10 holding FN + ESC key together plug the power back in and press power button.
    11. release keys FN and ESC if all is right it will have the power button and led on from blink abut every 1 second while it searches for the bios. once its done it will reboot and you should be good to go.
if it keeps cycling with the power button then the bios is named wrong or something is not right with the usb. try reformatting it again and make sure that the bios file is the ONLY thing on the drive.

Ok a little research and digging into the bios exe downloaded from toshiba shows this has INSYDE BIOS witch should have a recovery process wich i prepared a usb stick with just the bios.fd on it found some post around toshiba forums with different models using win +B or Fn + F but neither of these worked for me to force bios update
anyone with this model know the key combo to force recovery

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5965 and got the BSOD. I have searched the forums and found a post;
                  BIOS Update Failure Satellite L505D-S5965
I tried creating a "Boot CD-ROM Installation Method   Create CD-ROM Now but the webpage is no longer there.
I am having the exact same problem as the above post. The keyboard is not functional once you get past the Toshiba screen.
    I followed the following instructions:

Using a separate computer if necessary perform the following:
    1) Download your notebook model's BIOS "*.exe" file from the Support section. Mine was: slm0v150.exe
    2) Extract the files from the "*.exe" file.
    3) Locate the file that ends with ".fd", this is your actual BIOS file.

    4) Rename your BIOS file to: "BIOS.fd" without the quotations.
    5) Format a USB Flash Drive to (FAT or FAT32) file system.
    6) Copy your newly named "BIOS.fd" file to the root directory of the Flash Drive. (Not inside any folders)

    10) Observe your Flash Drive's LED's blinking, wait until your computer turns off and remove the Flash Drive.
    11) Replace Battery and Hard Drive.
    12) You're computer should be all set!
I can punch F2 to enter BIOS or F12 to enter Boot Manager, but the system doesn't respond to keyboard in either.
I attempted to flash BIOS off a USB as described in the above mentioned post, and it never worked. My flash drive lights up and then goes off. The BIOS version is the most current available according to Toshiba, 1.5

"PXE-E61 Media Test Failure, check cable
    hPXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
No Bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"
This is the same with the BIOS flash drive or without."

  • Problem with updating bios toshiba satellite l655-s5144

Hello first of all having a good day, four months ago a problem with my laptop toshiba satellite l655-5144 I have something crazy ,happens that when starting Windows 7/8 freezes there and I can not access windows, I thought it was an error of hdd, but I think I'm surprised that it is not, since changing the hdd and still gives the same problem of being paralyzed in Home windows, all this began to update the BIOS to version 2.8 that turned out to be the operating profit that was for windows 8, not sure if this is due to the problem but I've tested the ram, hdd, cpu, etc and everything about the hardware works well and gives no problems, I think that the problem was caused by updating the BIOS to version 2.8, my question is whether you can return to the factory version was 2.2, or at least the previous version to 2.8 which was the one I worked thanks for your answers and spend time helping me, is the agradesco much.
And sorry for my bad English.
    Solved!

Hello and thank you for coming to see the problem I had with my laptop, that seems to fix the problem so far, I hope q not refreeze operating system again, and I could restore the BIOS to version in which was when purchased.
If anyone has the same problem as I leave then follow these steps:
1.Find BIOS version with which acquired the laptop
    2. Use of mnetodo booted by CD.
    3. Insert the CD from the boot.
    4. Upon resumption of the program ran hidden PC (that I saw no message)
    5. After restart, windows restart again and enter the bios to see if it had changed the version of this and it turned out was successful.
Well I hope this problem the laptop again, and thank you for deigning to read at least my problem.
