Toshiba Satellite P505D-S8935 - Memory Question
I am having a problem with several programs running in the background when I have Firefox running with about three or four tabs open. It seems as if I don't have enough memory (I think) to run photo-editing software like Photoshop. How can I increase memory to handle these? This laptop appeared to be loaded with memory when I first looked at it, but now I'm thinking it can't handle what I need to do. After re-reading the specs, it says "This elegant laptop computer out performs even the most powerful desktops, thanks to its 2.2-GHz AMD Turion Xs Dual-Core Mobil Processor RM 74 (1MB L2 Cache), 4GB of DDR2 800MHz memor (expandable to 8GB), and a huge 400GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive."
What do I need to purchase to keep my laptop from freezing, lagging videos/audio when view on different websites, inability to control my external mouse (it jumps all over the place) and to run multiple photo-editing software applications at the same time?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
Upping the ram to 8gigs will run you about $400 to $500 bucks (4gig sticks are rather expensive). If it was me I would look into optimizing the system rather than adding more ram. Make sure all of your drivers are up to date, run a chkdsk/r on your hard drive to make sure there are any problems there. Clear out all of the temp files that just waste space. Also check out BlackViper's website to see what services you can safely run without to increase performance.
I'm sure that Jerry_Lippey will be along eventually and add his very knowledgable ideas on this subject. He's our resident Windows Guru.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

Memory upgrade on Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL
I bought the Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL from argos yesterday. It came with 4GB of RAM. I want to upgrade it to 8GB. Can anybody help with upgrading process. Also will upgrading the RAM void the warranty.
Regards
SDIm not L50-B owner but I guess there is no separate access to the memory modules at the bottom of the unit.
Right?
In such case its necessary to remove the bottom plastic cover and this will definitely void the warranty!!!
If you want to keep the warranty valid, dont upgrade the RAM by yourself.
This must be done by authorized service engineer. -
Recovery questions Toshiba satellite l35-s2151
I have a Toshiba satellite l35-s2151 that will not boot. I get this message when i try:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair
I tried the Toshiba recommended Free way by holding down 0(zero) while booting up. All it did was beep alot then shut down and try to reboot. Tried several ways none worked. Willing to try other ways just dont know what.
My question is: if I purchase the Toshiba recovery disk ( SW Media - DVD-SATELLITE-L35-Win XP HE-EN) (USD $24.95) will it fix this problem or will I need some sort of windows disk. Not trying to freeload just making sure I get the right thing.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Bad news, Gary. The System hive is the source of the most important branch of the registry. Windows will not boot without it. What you do depends upon your technical skill, what you've done to protect against such things, and whether you have a bootable floppy drive.
How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting.
The discs from Toshiba will only restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents, replacing everything now on the drive.
Do you have important files to rescue?

Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 second HDD question
I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 (http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/P870/P875-S7310/) and was hoping to install a second hard drive (SSD) to improve load times and boot times. As I understand it is rather wasy to install a second SSD into the P875-S7102, as it has a second hard drive bay, but I'm unsure about the P875-S7310. Technical support hasn't been of much help to me so I figured the second place to ask would be here. Does the Toshiba Satellite P875-S7310 also have a second HDD bay or will I need to do something like remove the DVD drive and buy a HDD caddy to install a SSD into this laptop?
Thanks a ton if you can provide me with any information,
Nianni150The problem with those spec sheets is that they don't list the P875-S7102 as having a second hard drive buy, but in in fact does. It also seems to be compatible with whatever the bios firmware is and allows a SSD to be run seperately.
For reference here is the second hard drive bay for the P875-S7102 that was confirmed on this forum to function. I've attached a picture of the back of the P875-S7102 I've ordered which seems to have the same configuration. I guess my question is if anyone knows whether or not the BIOS supports a secondary hard drive and if there is a SATA connection. I was hoping to buy the SSD now and have it arrive at the same time as the laptop. but I'm hesitant to do that since I'm unsure whether it will work or not.

Toshiba Satellite L655-S51117 VGA Port Question
I have a Toshiba Satellite L655-S51117 with an Intel Graphics HD Video Card. There is no HDMI port on the laptop but I wanted to purchase a VGA to HDMI cable to connect to my LCD TV but it says the Video Card must support digital signal ouput through the VGA port. Does this particular card support digital signal output? I just want to be sure before I purchase go ahead and purchase the cable.
Thanks for your help!I Got a laptop Satellite L655 for Xmas and I want to use it for my karaoke but I can't get it to work. I bought a new 15 pin to the RED, YELLOW and WHITE and S-Video cord but it won't work. My Old Laptop had A S-Video on the back and it worked fine. So how do I get this Laptop hooked up to my TV? It's an older TV but it has the red, yellow, white, and the S-video hook ups. Please any help on this? Yelsi

Audio would be stereo taken from the headphone port via a seperate cable to the converter box. It doesn't look like that machine has digital audio out, so no surround or whatever is possible. -
Satellite P200D-12f PSPBQE - Question about CPU/GFX temperature
Hey guys,
Here are the laptop specs:
TOSHIBA Satellite Series P200D-12F Notebook - AMD Turion 64 X2 Processor TL-62 2.1GHz 2MB Cache, 2048MB DDR2-667 SO-Dimm Memory (2x1024), DVD Super Multi writer optical drive, 250 GB SATA, 5400 obr/min, 17.1" WXGA+ TrueBright High Brightness (1440x900 resolution) TFT LCD Display, 10/100 Mbit Ethernet LAN, 802.11b/g wireless LAN, 56K Modem, ATI Radeon HD2600 256MB dedicated graphics, Built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers, 3.45kg, Bluetooth, integrated webcam, Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 2 Year International Warranty
I cant find any threads or sites that define idle temp for this cpu and graphic card,
in normal stance and high performance/ playing games.
I have an extra cooler (link: http://www.mimovrste.com/artikel/2210016012/hladilnik-za-prenosnik-akasa-ak-nbc-02b ) underneath the laptop. It does help much but still its running on *53C* (celsius) while surfing the internet.
Without that cooler its around 60C. It sounds strange to me.
When i play games on high performance the core temp goes to *63C*, without that xtra coller *+80C!!!!!!*
I clean the heat sinks every 1 month with a huge compressor :)
I dont let any dust in there. I have the laptop like a year now runs great, but still Im interested whats the temperature of our similar models.
I had some "turn off problems" when i didnt have the extra cooler, but now it runs great, but still im not convinced its the "normal" temp. :S
So plz help a lost soul surfing the internet finding nothing to answer his question :)
tnxheya
the problem is i hate vista :) i have installed xp on it. there are no xp drivers for this laptop. i mixed with some similar models same components xp drivers and everything is working well now ;) no yellow thingies in the system window - hardware components. all cool. all games running with no artifact and no weird thingies.
but still im interested in the temperature.
i installed the old Toshiba power saver (win xp) works fine but i dont see any difference with it. no effect. cooling method is on high(as it was on the begging) and no changes. i hoped the vents gonna speed up just a lil bit . but didnt.
how the temp sound to u? high or ok? for an AMD cpu :) the gfx is at 29C :) the cpu runs at 50C surfing internet , while playing games it goes to 63C. -
Toshiba Satellite L650-07U, Hard disk failure and replacement
Hi all,
I have Toshiba Satellite L650-07U Laptop, Model: PSK1EC-0700Q with 4GB RAM, 650GB HD, Windows 7 Home Premium installed. At the time of first use, i made Recovery DVDs which took 4 blank DVDs using Recovery media creator.
From 2 weeks it is giving problem, at start its slowdown with every application, then suddenly it started Hard disk failure error and ask to backup important files. From that instant i did all my backup save in another portable Hard drive.
I had hiren boot CD, and ran RAM test and found it OK, and then run Hard Disk test and found few bad sectors at few certain point, As 650GB Hard disk was taking alot time of time for checking bad sectors, so i stopped that application.
First I tried Recovery DVDs to restore Windows, but it failed as Laptop DVD-Writer was unable to boot from those created DVDs (DVDs are OK as had checked it on Desktop computer DVD-ROM), Laptop DVD-Writer is also working as I test few more bootable CDs and it booted perfectly, but it is not booting from Recovery DVDs.
Than i tried to restore from Recovery partition using Factory restore settings, it erases all data and reinstall new and fresh copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. It works fine for few hours than again pops up Hard Disk Failure message again and again. I searched here in Toshiba Forum and have found similar problem with other members and finally decided that it need to replace Hard Disk with new one. As It is now two and a half month old, thats why i need to buy new Hard Disk for my Laptop.
I checked all partitions of drive using Hiren Boot CD, and had found that there are four default partitions in Toshiba original laptop drive,
One hidden partition of 1.5 GB
One hidden partition of almost 21 GB
One hidden partition of almost 12 GB
One partition of 561 GB, which was the original partition where windows 7 was installed along with all of my Data.
Now I want to replace faulty drive with a new one and have a lot of question in my mind which I need to share with you guys.
At the time of first use I installed Windows 7 64 bit edition, and made Recovery DVDs, and at second time of restore to factory setting I had installed Windows 7 32 bit. I have confusion about recovery DVDs (which is not booting from default DVD-Writer of Laptop), either it has 64 Bit recovery data or 32 bit? Or have both 64 and 32 bit Data.
Toshiba restore to factory setting without using any recovery DVD/USB is the best possible way to restore Windows 7, How can I make same recover hidden partitions from original/faulty hard drives to new hard drive partitions? Is this possible and how?
On Default hard drive there was one partition of 561GB instead of two or more partitions. Is this possible to split partitions in new hard drives instead of one big partition?
As Recovery DVDs are not able to boot from laptop default DVD-Writer, is it possible to open those DVDs on another System and copy tem in USB drive and use it for booting? If it is possible than please show me the steps for making bootable USB from these Recovery DVDs.
Thanks,
masterleous

This site is for US computers. I doubt you'll get your questions for that Canadian model answered here.
There appear to be two recovery partitions. Maybe one for 32- and one for 64-bit Windows. Or maybe one is for English and the other for French.
Your User's Manual isn't much help either. You probably need to ask Toshiba tech support in Canada.
About all I have to offer is this: Be wary of drives with advanced-format technology. See my message about that.

Toshiba Satellite L555 freezing up! (Tech Head Challenge) Please Help!
It's been happening lately. My Toshiba Satellite(windows 7 home permium 64 bits) has been freezing up with multiple, thin, multi-colored lines with a noise similar to when a sound track on a CD sticks or freezes and no mouse response or any kind of response at all. I have to press and hold the power botton and force it to shut down. I noticed it does this more often when I try to play a video game, virus scan, video call on Skype and less frequently on youtube (youtube might just be a coincidence). Sometimes after the computer restarts and I virus scan or Skype then I have no problems. I think it happens when I virus scan or skype when I have both multiple firefox and google chrome windows open at once but I cannot be sure. I've tested the theory a few times but it's inconclusive however I am confident that virus scans or video game are most likely to trigger the freeze even if they are the only thing I have open on the screen.
Sometimes I get that message in the blue box that says "Windows is shutting down to prevent damage to your computer....." The strange thing is that after I force it to shut down if I try to restart it immidiately then it will boot. All the lights will come on except the orange one in the left hand corner, the screen does not come on and windows does not load. If I leave it for 30 minutes or sometimes less after it crashed then it will restart .The funny thing is that I had this problems about 8 months ago when I tried playing a video game called A.V.A. About 2 minutes into play it would freeze with the same noise I mentioned earlier.I repeatedly tried to play the game and it happened every single time and everytime I force shut down the laptop and try to restart it right after then windows will not load and the orange light does not come on. I removed the game and reinstalled it and I never had that problem again.Since I got the laptop it has randomly restarted like 4 times and I've had it for about 1 year and 2 months but now it is just freezing up (mostly) or I get that message in the blue box. At around April of this year the game stopped working. I keep getting error reports when I try to reinstall it and my windows no longer recongnized the digital signature of the company that made the game.
I'm not sure if it's overheating,I have a hard drive or motherboard problem or if it's a software problem. I've tried:
System Restore
Defrag
Disc Clean up
Non of these have helped. I've also tried using SeaTool for Windows to try to look for errors in my hard drive and it has not found any. I've also done that thing where Windows, with the black screen and white text, check through your files for errors and corrupted stuff but that report says that it hasn't found any errors at all. My computer has no slow down in performance that I can notice. It doesn't take long to start up nor does it take long to shut down. I don't get random error reports or anything like that. It works fine except for the freezing bit.
The fan seems to be working just fine and the latop doesn't get that hot. Sometimes it freezes when it's barely warm to the touch and other times it would be significantly warmer but it would not freeze even if I have multiple firefox and googlechrome windows open. Before all of this when my game was working I use to play for hours with the exhaust at the side significantly heating up the desk and the computer would run perfectly without problems except that brief period I mentioned earlier where the game froze 3 minutes in to actually playing the game, reinstalled it and solved the problem. Yesterday it froze on me while I was on skpye and today it froze on me about 5 minutes after windows log in on youtube without the computer getting hot, just barely warm. I just don't get it!
I've try using a vaccum to clean the vents without opening the computer. I've removed and reinserted my memory just incase they were loose and I've also removed and reinserted the hard drive to be sure that it was in properly and that has not stopped the problem either.
N.B. I did do a virus scan with a trial version of Kaspersky Pure that I installed less than a month ago and it does say that I have a virus called "virus heur trojan.script.iframer" and a medium and high risk events. I've tried to remove or quarantine them but nothing happens and when I scan again with Kaspersky Pure or Kaspersky Virus removal tool they find no viruses BUT the trojan report is still there with the option of removing and quanrantine.
As I've said before I've seen no slow down in performance and it works just fine except for the freezing and the blue box message. The only noticeable problem is that both firefox and googlechrome have been just a little, little bit buggy in that sometimes I would have to close down a window and reopen it again because the pages were not loading but that's only on Facebook and a few other websites and I thnk that's because of my internet connection. As I said, I've gotten no random error reports, not from windows 7 or my browser.
Please help!It sounds sort of like it could be related to overheating, but on the other hand, you specifically said that it doesn't always feel warm. If you're okay with backing up your files, you might want to perform a full recovery back to factory default conditions. At that point, you'd at least know whether it was due to hardware or software.

Multiple Problems with Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop??
Hi,
We purchased the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop at Best Buy about a week ago. However, we seem to be having multiple problems with it, that I wouldn't have expected from a brand new Toshiba.
Problems:
Whenever I'm in Mozilla Firefox browser, it crashes 90% of the time. Firefox was always my favorite on our previous computer, and still is, I just can't use it because it continually crashes.
In Outlook, whenever I try to open a message or reply, or basically any general command, it pops up an error message that says, "Could not install the custom actions," and then does whatever I'd wanted it too. It's a pain, as we do a lot of email and calendar through Outlook.
In Outlook, when I tried to import our Contacts, it says that we do not have the appropriate permissions to access the files. We are the only user account on this computer. We don't do seperate ones for each family member; we just turn on the PC.
It seems to me like the internet crawls on this computer. Every time we try to play a video (e.g. ABC, CNN, Youtube), it won't buffer. It just stops and starts all throughout the video about every 3 seconds. HUGE nuisance. We watch a lot of videos.
Minor issue: In Firefox, before it has crashed that is, on my old computer I used to be able to type "cnet" without the quotes into the address bar, and it would take me to www.cnet.com. If it couldn't find the page, it would take me to my default search engine's page (Yahoo) with the search results. On this one, if I type anything into the address bar (like search terms/keywords) it bring up search results with a My Start Incredimail search engine. I want my Yahoo search engine, and I want it to find the page if it can.
I cannot seem to get the Aero Flick (I think) to work. That was one of the main things I was looking forward to, but I can't figure out how to do it.
It seems to me like the Windows Explorer freezes a lot.
There have been multiple times when I'm typing that the keys don't work. Like I would have to press the A key about 10 times to get it to show up on the screen once. It's hit and miss and doesn't do it all of the time.
This isn't a problem - just a question. Is it best to leave the computer plugged in all of the time if it's stationary? Or once it's fully charged, should I unplug it and let the power run down, and then re-charge it?
**CLARIFICATION: It's not Outlook Express, it's Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. The one that you have to pay for. Surely it works with 7, considering it's Microsoft?!?!
If you can help me answer any of these problems/questions, I would really appreciate it.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas!Yes, everything was fine with Firefox. However, I have uninstalled it, and am just using Internet Explorer for now.
Thanks for battery info...
I'm well within the return window, but overall really like the laptop. I've put a lot of time into it, and just want it to work right if possible.
Thanks for the info.
ScottinFla wrote:Concerning Firefox, have you checked your add-on list for any faulty plug-ins or extensions? Try disabling them and see what happens. Also, that search engine you mentioned may have somehow been installed on your machine. Have you checked the "Manage search engines..." window available from the search bar? Check your add-ons as well. You could always reinstall Firefox from scratch.
As for the battery, it may not be best to continually run down the battery - followed by a long charge. Once a month or so should be fine. Otherwise, just try to give the battery some exercise every now and then.
Are you still within the return window? Your unit may have a bad install, some bad RAM, or...
I have the same model and it works just fine. -
Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 Blue Screen of Death BSOD
If you are having “The Blue Screen Of Death” (BSOD) with a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 you are not alone. Please leave a comment in hopes enough of us can find each other and come up with a more permanent solution than the work around I present here. As of the day this was posted there was nothing index into Google or Toshiba’s forums regarding a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 having a BSOD problem.
Unfortunately I don't have an answer or solution so much as a troubleshooting alternative and that is to install Ubuntu 11+. I would rather use windows7 but the fact that Ubuntu runs without crashes indicates that my problem is a Windows 7 software issue. Windows7 is conflicting with either the hardware within my computer or some pre-installed factory software.
This laptop is new (it has only been out of the box for 3 months), has an i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and is still under warranty; until Sept. 10, 2012. I have yet to contact Toshiba but will. Within the last month (Feb. 2012) I started to get multiple BSODs out of no where. These were the following error messages:
1. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Caused By Driver : luafv.sys
2. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Caused By Driver : Ntfs.sys
3. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe
4. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe
5. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Caused By Driver : partmgr.sys
You can see my full BSOD error reports here: CLICK HERE
I have done all of the following hoping to solve this issue with no luck:
1. Re-formated computer with factory shipped disk. Five Minutes after I did this I got the BSOD. That definitely eliminated the idea that it was something I had installed or that it was a windows update conflict.
2. Got all window updates. That didn’t help.
3. Checked all drivers manually one by one through the device manager for updates; according to the Device Manager there was no updates.
*However, this is the only area of hope that I have. I downloaded the program Drive Max and it list several drivers as outdated. I can only download two a day and install them. After I have them all installed I will report back as to whether or not I have a BSOD.
4. Updated BIOS. Toshiba did have a BIOS update available but the update did not fix my BSOD problems. I have seen on this forum many people have had problems with the BIOS but I have not.
5. Ran window's memory diagnostic tool. It reported no errors.
60 I also ran Ubuntus memory test and passed.
7. Check Disk with no errors
After all those failed attempts I took to the Internet. That is when I ran across a post online where a person stated they had the same problem with a similar Toshiba laptop and switched to Ubuntu. After doing so they had no problems. I did the same and agree I have no issues after one week. So I hope this helps for now. If anyone has this problem or finds a windows based solution please leave a comment.Thank you all for your help.
Since I reformatted every time I have booted up I have turned on the Windows memory diagnostic too. I did this in hopes that if a BSOD occurred it would catch something when it rebooted and today it did after an extended memory test.
I got the standard message, “Hardware problems were detected...Test results will be displayed again after you log on”, however no test results were ever displayed. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually find the results of the test? Also, I ran the test again to see if I could get the results and the second time it said there were no problems detected.
At this point I am suspecting it to be a faulty stick of RAM. Windows 7 utilizes about 1.25GB of ram when booted and Ubuntu 200MB. This very well could be why Ubuntu works without problems.
I have to write a business plan in the next few weeks and cannot send my laptop in until that is done. So I will continue to use Ubuntu until done with my plan and then contact Toshiba. I will post back with any information I get in regards to the problem and once again thank you all for your help. -
To mostly repeat my question, I am a longtime Firefox user on both an XP laptop and a Vista desktop. So here I get the most "capable" computer of all, a Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop, 64-bit Windows 7, 4G RAM...and it won't run Firefox at all! I have installed an uninstalled both Firefox 3, and just now, Firefox 4. No changes. When I open the software, it usually just locks up for a minute or so, and I finally get a "not responding" message at the top of the screen.
Obviously there is something corrupt in the guts of my laptop. But both IE9 and Chrome work very well--Chrome is blazing fast. I still prefer Firefox because it works best with some particular software I use for work...but I have to go to one of my older computers to do it!
ANY solutions out there? This seems like a very odd problem.
Posting from the Firefox website...using Google Chrome!I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6. -
I have audio working, but not the microphone on my toshiba satellite
Hi there, I'm a newbie to the arch way, but I'm not a newbie to linux, however I'm pretty stumped with this one (I'm not used to having to look after everything, but I'm loving it!) I have a Toshiba Satellite C650D-10W, and it has a very annoying soundcard built into it. I have the sound working, thankfully, however I cannot get the inbuilt mic to function. Some info here:

one stupid pdf-file found on hp.com sais that the codec is ADI 1984AJCPZ High Definition CODEC, but I can't be sure...
i tried different model= parameters to snd-hda-intel module, but nothin helps
i can capture external jack-in microphone only if external jack-out is free (which is completely stupid for home audio studio experiencing)
internal phones are not mute automatically until jack-in freed (but i can easily mute them in alsamixer instead)
if anyone find a workaround or anything useful, please report here or use my contacts -
Toshiba Satellite C855-SS530 touchpad issues: left-click randomly releases
Brand new Toshiba Satellite C855-SS530 Windows 8. My touchpad will very often respond erratically. As I hold down on the left button and scroll, often times scroll will randomly release and then sometimes re-engage. This will happen with web pages, holding windows, etc. I'll be dragging a window or file or what-have-you, it will release the hold of it's own accord (without me releasing the left button) then sometimes re-engage (picking up other random files, selecting stuff on the desktop or other random things I didn't want to do). Most often I am holding down the left button and scrolling down a web page, and it will randomly "let go" of the scroll (before I have let go of the left button). Occassionally the touchpad will not immediately respond. It's too annoying to keep this laptop.
It isn't clear to me whether this is hardware or software related...Could be a bad button, bad touchpad, loose wire, or even a memory-glitch error which disrupts the touchpad signal. Does anyone know if this is a known issue with the Satellite C855-S5350. The touchpad is vital. It can't glitch out even 1% of the time. If I can't solve the issue, it'll likely be returned. I turned off most of the Synaptics silly stuff (edge swipe, etc) and it didn't resolve anything. There are nearly no services running eating up RAM so I have no idea why the touchpad would be freezing up...You might want to try these suggestions:
The touchpad does not work properly
