Toshiba Sattelite P20-404 Drive

Hi,
I have a mat****a dvd-ram uj811 drive in my notebook an after inserting a cd which it couldnt read, it stopped working (I think that was the reason).
In the device manager it is marked as ready and working, but if I click on it in the explorer, the system tells me that there is an E/A device-error (I am not sure if this is the right translation, because I have a german version). I cannot access the drive, read or write CDs & DVDs! Two friends of mine have a similar problem with the same drive (they have the satellite p10). It stopped working without any reason!
I found a new driver on the internet, but couldnt install it, because it tells me, that the device is not found on this computer
Is there any help, or is it broken?
Thanks,
Junior

Hi
I am owner of Satellite P20 too. I have changed my DVD drive. Original drive was DVD-R/RW. Now I have DVD-RAM drive inside.
Like you know it is really easy to change the drive and I have checked which drive model I have now. It is TEAC DV-W22E and it works properly without any problem. If you want to use a drive like this one you need DVD-RAM driver but you can find it on Toshiba web page.

  • Sattelite A30-404: DVD player doesnt read some DVD's

    Hi,
    I have a Sattelite A30-404 and recently I installed a new firmware update for my TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112. (page can be found [here|http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=NL&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=518&langua ge=33&selOS=10&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload =&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=allMachines&search= &action=search&macId=&country=28&selectedLanguage= 33&type=all&page=1&ID=46804&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42]
Since then i can't read some DVD's I write, mostly DVD of 4gb+, I can, for example, perfectly read a 1,3gb DVD with 3 multisessions.
However, other computers can read the DVD's that I can't.
    Help would be appreciated.

Possibly the new firmware does not contain all informations about all DVDs.
Do you know what firmware is or what informations it contains?
The drive firmware contains single informations about the medium which can be used, which burning/read speed is supported, what medium manufacturer is compatible, etc
Possibly the new firmware contains other info as the old one and therefore the CD/DVD cannot be read correctly.
I think in such case you have to test different CDs/DVDs and try to burn with different speed.

Your model belongs to part-number family PSLB8U, which corresponds to European-models' part-number family PSLB8E.
Go to the European download site and look up the Satellite L300 with Short Part No. PSLB8E.
When you filter for Windows XP, you'll find there are 35 drivers, utilities, and so forth listed.

  • MacBook won't detect Toshiba 1T external hard drive

I just upgraded my operating system on my MacBook Pro and now my laptop won't detect my Toshiba 1T external hard drive, even though I've been using it before.  Any ideas?

Adam513, turned out the latest operating system doesn't read Microsoft formatted external hard drives the way it used to.  I had to purchase a new external hard drive, them find an apple computer with an older version operating system so I could transfer my files to the new external which is formatted for Mac.  The new external works fine and once I have all the files transferred, I'll reformat my old external hard drive.  Took me and the guy at the Genius Bar a while, but we finally figured this out.  Hope this helps!

  • I just upgraded my operating system on my MacBook Air and now my laptop won't detect my Toshiba 1T external hard drive

I just upgraded my operating system on my MacBook Air and now my laptop won't detect my Toshiba 1T external hard drive, how to solve this problem?

Try some of the troubleshooting steps outlined below:
    Troubleshooting an external hard drive
    > Unplug the hard drive, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in
    > Restart the computer
    > Unplug any other peripherals from the computer
    > Plug it into a different USB port
If none of those steps work, see if it is recognized in Disk Utility.
Checking a disk with Disk Utility
To check a disk using Disk Utility, launch the Disk Utility application in any of the following ways:
    > Type the first few letters of its name into Spotlight. Select it from the results.
    > Go Launchpad > Utilities > Disk Utility
    > Go Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Once Disk Utility is opened, check to see if your external HD appears on the sidebar. If it doesn't appear at first, try the troubleshooting steps above again while leaving Disk Utility open, each time checking to see if the external HD appears.

  • I recently just bought a Toshiba 3TB External Hard Drive.  I am trying to partition it on my macbook, but it keeps returning and error message.  The only thing I have changed is renamed easy drive.

I recently just bought a Toshiba 3TB External Hard Drive.  I am trying to partition it on my macbook, but it keeps returning and error message.  The only thing I have changed is renamed easy drive.

Your problem is not Boot Camp, in fact, is your optical drive. Win XP requires indeed sp2, but also the internal drive, does not work from external optical drive.
For other possible tricks, please use the appropriate Boot Camp forum, not here. Mac OS X may be installed from both external and internal optical drive and/or internal/external partition of a disk, any disk. Windows is not so generous.

  • Toshiba 8 gb Flash Drive Crashed

I have a Toshiba 8 gb flash drive that just stopped working. The light no longer comes on, and the comuter can't recognize it in the drive. I need to recover the files on the flash drive (all documents). PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi mate
I have not good news for you for me it looks like the HDD is faulty.
This happens HDD can always crash and therefore it ALLWAYS advisable to backup the data twice; on additional HDD or DVDs
What to say; maybe some specialists could help you but its a matter of money you know I think it would be really expensive to recover the files

  • Problem with a Toshiba PX1267E 320 external drive

    Hello all
I have a problem with a Toshiba px1267e 320 external drive, when all was ok with it I would switch on and the blue led would come on and change blue /violet as it was found on my laptop, a small vibration could be felt if I handled the case indicating that the d/d motor was on.
On that fateful morning I switched on did an explore in my computer and found no ext drive, checked the drive blue led on touched the case could detect no vibration, unclipped the drive from the case put my ear to it heard faint clicking.
I removed device and connected to caddie, this time I could feel the motor going, connected to laptop, new hardware found did my computer explore and found no drive, checked device manager and found it so I uninstalled and reconnected usb with same result.
I am not sure what do next.
I had a word with computer shop if they could recover a while I wait they said at least a 6 hour job if possible (dont want to leave at shop)
Bought me another western digital same model no and also new power supply to try swapping the electronics board just in case therein lies the fault /or possible us power/s but I am clutching at straws here.
Any of you guys here got anything like this happen ? any suggestions?
I am curious to know what they would try in the shop to recover although he said he couldn't guarantee results.
I would welcome any helpful suggestions (not throw it in the bin)

I think the external HDD is dead
Maybe its a head crash this would explain the faint clicking and other noises
Unfortunately, I such case you can do nothing

  • Toshiba Sattelite A300

I have a Toshiba Sattelite A 300 notebook and recently it start heating. I mean really heating, if you keep it on your feet it can get you burns, any thoughts what can be my problem?
    HowToLounge

Check the vents on the bottom and sides of the computer. Make sure that there is no dust or dirt blocking the vents. Make sure that you are using the computer on a hard, flat surface. Blocking the cool air coming in from the bottom is a sure way to overheat the computer. If the computer is 3 or more years old, you may need to get the silicon grease between the CPU and the heat sink replaced. It can dry up or dissipate over a period of time. You're going to need Toshiba Certified tech to correctly install the right silicon grease in the computer.
I never use canned air to blow the dirt in the vents. It just moves the dirt around without removing it, and the compressed air is often damp causing liquid to get in the system.

  • Toshiba's USB Thumb Drive systemic problems.

Toshiba 64GB thumb USB drive [out of the blue] keeps telling me it is WRITE PROTECTED... everytime I try to save a file.. I myself are only user and NEVER write protected anything... HOW DO I GET IT OUT OF WRITE PROTECT MODE ????????????? Serial No. 1129DA0800J2JMK
According to the WEB  this is a major problem with Toshiba products.  I am a faithful customer I have two of their lap tops so I thought why not buy a Toshiba USB thumb drive.     With no warning it just keep telling me it is write protected.  I have tried to force a format just to push it back to life but no luck.  I have tried to contact Toshiba customer service on their web site and no response.   DOES ANYONE KNOW THE SECRET RITUAL TO FORCE IT OUT OF WRITE PROTECTION MODE?????????????   Never dropped or abused or left out in the hot sun..  It got this way just lying on the desk.  Come on Toshiba... How about some customer service.......

If you still have that thumb drive, try cleaning it with DiskPart. At an elevated command prompt remove the partitions and create a new one. It's something like this. Be sure you identify the correct drive!
    DISKPART> list disk
    DISKPART> select disk (id)
    DISKPART> clean
    DISKPART> convert mbr
    DISKPART> create partition primary
    DISKPART> select part 1
    DISKPART> format fs=ntfs

  • Toshiba 3TB DT01ACA300 hard drive. How can I disable head parking?

I bought a Toshiba 3TB DT01ACA300 hard drive. It occasionally makes a click, not like a drive failing click but it sounds a lot like a head parking click. I've heard that type of sound before in laptops that I have and it's tolerable. Coming from my desktop though it's infuriating. Is there any way I can disable the head parking? Does anyone here work for Toshiba? Does anyone else have this drive? Do you notice an occasional click?
I found another thread about this model and head parking but I think what that guy describes is different::
    Toshiba 3TB DT01ACA300 - head parking problem
Also I tried Toshiba's support page. I entered serial number and model number and it doesn't recognize either, so if there is any new firmware or tool for this drive I can't find it. I did find a Toshiba technical support form which I will use if I can't resolve my issue here in the forum.
    Thanks

  • Network controller and pci device driver missing for Toshiba Sattelite c55t b5109

After resetting windows 8.1, I only my ethernet works and I cant turn my wifi. I looked in the device manger, and under "unknown devices" are listed Network Controller and PCI Device with yellow alerts near them. I know that these are related to the wireless card, but everytime I try to update them they say that there is no driver for them.
    These are their hardware id's:
    Network Controller:

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

search your laptop for the Toshiba application installer, open it and use it to install your Wireles lan driver.
The application installer is easier than guessing which one you need from your support page.
    OR
Your support page is here - http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200008391
You can select the drivers tab then down the page on the left hand side select Windows 8.1 64 bit to narrow down the drivers for your operating system. Then also select Wifi and the available drivers will be displayed.
If you are getting a corrupted system after a reset your hard drive may be failing or your recovery partition may have been corrupted .  Create your recovery media if you have not done so already.

    Hi there!
There is a problem with my Toshiba notebook Sattelite A100 - 811 (PSAA8E-0YT040G3). Everytime I turn it on I see the folowing information on the screen:
    "*some usualy seen information*

    System Configuration Data updated
    WARNING

    *Press [F1] or Press [F2]*
And nothing changes when saving system BIOS configuration settings or just leting to use default settings. I've tried to update system BIOS to the newest version and succesfully done it but the problem with "Press [F1] or Press [F2]" still exists.
    Can anyone help me?
P.S. I've found one solution (thanks Google) with using USB-FDD drive but i haven't and can't get it. I don't believe there is no other simple solution for this issue!

Google "Toshiba crisis Recovery" and helpful info should come up.
