Toshiba Sattelite PSAA8E BIOS issue

Hi there!
There is a problem with my Toshiba notebook Sattelite A100 - 811 (PSAA8E-0YT040G3). Everytime I turn it on I see the folowing information on the screen:
"*some usualy seen information*
No TPM or TPM has problem
*some usualy seen information*
System Configuration Data updated
WARNING
0251: System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used"
*Press [F1] or Press [F2]*
And nothing changes when saving system BIOS configuration settings or just leting to use default settings. I've tried to update system BIOS to the newest version and succesfully done it but the problem with "Press [F1] or Press [F2]" still exists.
Can anyone help me?
P.S. I've found one solution (thanks Google) with using USB-FDD drive but i haven't and can't get it. I don't believe there is no other simple solution for this issue!

Google "Toshiba crisis Recovery" and helpful info should come up.

  • Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 stuck on toshiba logo after bios change

My Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 is stuck on toshiba logo after bios change.
entered bios fine changes from UEFI to CSM boot and now i cannot enter bios or boot past toshiba logo.
Ive tried F2 tapping and holding while powering up the laptop(tried every Fkey,DEL,ESC, with and without FN key)
    cannot re-enter bios.
Also i tried to run the bios update cd created multiple  1.50 1.40 even 1.00, it doesnt seem to read any media.
i tried holding C, FN+C and f and just about every key on the keyboard to get something to work. i had dvd as top of boot priority for a while now so i shouldnt have to try f12 or holding C before boot but i tried . it doesnt seem to read any media
i tried windows 8 install cd, Ubuntu, centos, nothing goes past toshiba logo and no errors, i dont get the non bootable device error so its seems to not be reading the dvd. (dvd does spin and make read noises) im trying to find my usb floppy drive to try a floppy version but it acts like its not reading any media.
I also pulled the HDD and all usb devices to make the dvd the only media available and with the HDD out it spins then toshiba logo then black screen with solid white  horizontal curser on top left of screen.(only happens when hdd out)
is there some type of key combination that will force a bios update or a crisis recovery mode for bios.
I also Pulled the battery for 2 solid days(battery, cmos battery, and power supply and held power button for about 10 mins while watching tx to make sure the thing was drained before the 2 day sit with no power at all.
this happened the second i changed from UEFI to CSM boot so its not a motherboard problem or anything like that because all was well before this setting change.
I already pulled the HDD and backed it up to another drive and swapped it to elimiate that.
any ideas on a secret key combo to force a bios read from dvd or usb or anythng.
or another combo that im just missing to enter bios after CSM boot.
    UPDATE
to do a crisis recovery on this laptop
1 get a usb stick and format it in fat or fat32
2 download "7zip" and install it if you dont have it.
3 download bios from toshiba website.
4 run the installer for bios but dont choose and option just close it we just want to extract the files to the location normally  c:\splnvxxx where xxx is the version number like 150
5 goto the installed locaion "c:\splnv150" or whatever number.
    6. find file os2014273a_150 or something similar. it will be an application, it will end in version number _150, and it will also have a disc image file of the same name. but we want the app.
    7. right click on it and you should have an option 7zip then extract
once extracted there is a folder now archesxxxxxx_bios_v150_win
8 copy the bios file located in archesxxxxxblahblah/X64/BIOS.fd , BIOS.fd is the bios and just copy that to a BLANK usb thumb drive that was formatted with fat or fat32.
    9. put usb into your satellite and unplug the power from it.
10 holding FN + ESC key together plug the power back in and press power button.
    11. release keys FN and ESC if all is right it will have the power button and led on from blink abut every 1 second while it searches for the bios. once its done it will reboot and you should be good to go.
if it keeps cycling with the power button then the bios is named wrong or something is not right with the usb. try reformatting it again and make sure that the bios file is the ONLY thing on the drive.

Ok a little research and digging into the bios exe downloaded from toshiba shows this has INSYDE BIOS witch should have a recovery process wich i prepared a usb stick with just the bios.fd on it found some post around toshiba forums with different models using win +B or Fn + F but neither of these worked for me to force bios update
anyone with this model know the key combo to force recovery

Your model belongs to part-number family PSLB8U, which corresponds to European-models' part-number family PSLB8E.
Go to the European download site and look up the Satellite L300 with Short Part No. PSLB8E.
When you filter for Windows XP, you'll find there are 35 drivers, utilities, and so forth listed.

  • Toshiba Sattelite A300

I have a Toshiba Sattelite A 300 notebook and recently it start heating. I mean really heating, if you keep it on your feet it can get you burns, any thoughts what can be my problem?
    HowToLounge

Check the vents on the bottom and sides of the computer. Make sure that there is no dust or dirt blocking the vents. Make sure that you are using the computer on a hard, flat surface. Blocking the cool air coming in from the bottom is a sure way to overheat the computer. If the computer is 3 or more years old, you may need to get the silicon grease between the CPU and the heat sink replaced. It can dry up or dissipate over a period of time. You're going to need Toshiba Certified tech to correctly install the right silicon grease in the computer.
I never use canned air to blow the dirt in the vents. It just moves the dirt around without removing it, and the compressed air is often damp causing liquid to get in the system.

  • K8N Bios issues

I running into some strange bios issues.
If you increase your FSB in the bios past 210 or so the Raid array is no longer detected on SATA 1 and 2. You then have a hell of a time getting back into the bios. No matter how many times you hit the delete button during the boot. Once you are able to get into the bios and lower the FSB your boot order has changed and the Raid array is no longer the first in order?????????????
Whats up with that. Come on MSI get us a good bios. This release version is pretty buggy. If you look at all the reviews on this mobo, take a look at the bios they are using. The Cell menu is located on the Left half of the screen not on the Right like this bios. It seems it also clocks much better than this thing, as I have never heard of any problems on the review sites about dissapearing SATA arrays, unlike I have here on this and other forums.

And that my friends is known as a System Crash. When first running a new system, give it a day or so running at stock settings before going in and changing for increased performance. It may sound "Old-fashioned", but I really believe in letting electronics "burn-in". Then, when you do make changes - make them one at a time, and in small increments! I think this board is really a good one. Aside from slightly higher temps than my 64 3000+, I think it was easier to get running, and a lot more stable.

  • Satellite A665-S6059 - RAM / BIOS Issues

I updated my Toshiba A665's bios to version 1.20 which fixed the errors with 1333mhz DDR3 ram. I bought the 8GB of DDR3-10600 1333mhz upgrade. When I changed the 2x 2GB chips out with the new 2x 4GB ones the laptop booted into bios, said it had 8,196MB ram. I saved and quit.
While booting, the toshiba splash screen came up, went black and repeated the cycle until I turned off the laptop. I had to put one of the 2GB DDR3-8500 chips in the first ram slot to get the system up boot up into windows. A 4GB DDR3-10600 chip is in slot 2. Bios and windows says I have 6GB of ram.
I just cant figure out why 2x 4GB chips wont boot. Is this a BIOS error? In slot 2 during separate boots, both 4GB ram chip runs.
Is there going to be a fix for this problem? I noticed that there is a way to fix the Wlan card problem, and the odd changed between video card cores between AC power, and battery power.

    Hello
Have you bought compatible memory modules fron an authoriezd service provider or what modules you bought exactly?
For me it looks like that the new modules are not compatible so they dont run at dual channel mode on your notebook. That means you need other modules.
I would recommend modules from an authorized service provider or some high quality modules from Kingston for example.

  • HP dv6 Bios issue

    Hi I have a Hewlett Packard dv6 1204AX
I have it running windows 32 bit.
4GB Ram. Everything else is standard with no overclocking ever.
My problem began today when my mate bought over a black screened laptop.
We began by noticing that his would not turn on. we concluded that it might be the hard drive.
To test this we took the harddrive out of mine and put it in his. We also tried the RAM, removing that from the dv6 but it would not fit. We did not force anything.
We then tried his hard drive in my laptop to see if his harddrive would work...it did not.
I then put my laptop back together, replacing the RAM and the hard drive but when I started it, my laptop was now black screening with the lights blinking twice, pointing at a BIOS issue.
I tried the hard reset with no luck.
I pulled out the hard drive and ram, blew to make sure no dust was on it, and put it back in. Still no luck.
I tried the windows + B fix. Still no good.
I removed CMOS battery for 40 minutes. replaced. Still no go.
I loaded BIOS software from the HP site onto a usb stick but it wouldn't load the stick. DID change the name of the file to a .bin file as told.
I have tried multiple hard resets etc.
I then asked a friend who fixes computers who told me to go and get a new CMOS battery...I did that...put it and still two blips.
I feel like I have exhausted all options.
    Please help.

  • MSI 890FXA-GD70 and 3Ware 9750-4i BIOS issues

This is my second build with this motherboard.  This post is just to help anyone who might be trying to get similar hardware combinations to work.
The BIOS revision is 1.7, which was the revision the board came with.
When running with a 3Ware 9750-4i board you will find that the 3Ware BIOS will complain about not being able to install.  At first it was complaining about the motherboard BIS not providing enough RAM to live in, but after I set the on-board SATA controller to AHCI is stopped complaining and just didn't show up at all.
Now, don't be discouraged if you aren't booting from the 3Ware controller, because this won't stop it from working.  When the OS loads the driver, everything is fine.
I suspect it would also work if you completely disabled the on-board controller, but that wasn't an option for me.  I wanted to run three additional HDs and two optical drives on that controller, as well as the four drives on the 3Ware.
I kept experimenting with slot positions for the cards, but nothing produced a change at all.
Finally I spent time in the OS trying to make the AHCI drivers for the on-board controller work with connect/disconnect.  There appeared no way in Win7 x64 to get any AHCI drivers to load but the default Microsoft ones, which don't support hot-swap or even connect/disconnect.
It appeared to me that the only AHCI drivers supplied by AMD or MSI specifically work only when the controller is in RAID mode.  So I tried setting the controller to RAID mode in the BIOS, and discovered that it now played nice with the 3Ware BIOS.  Now I am going to reinstall Windows 7 with the 3Ware drivers and select a 3Ware drive to boot from, to see if I can get the AMD or MSI-supplied drivers to work with the on-board controller.  I suspect I will get all the features promised then.  If I don't, I will return here and report the results.

I completed the new install of Win7 - this time with the 3ware controller as the primary, and the on-board SATA set to RAID.
First, I had to load drivers for the on-board RAID during the install, just to let the install continue.  Then I had to load drivers to tell Win7 about the drive where I wanted to install.  I thought it would ask for both up front, but it wouldn't take both - it only wanted the drivers for the controller to which the DVD was connected.  THEN, after it was ready to ask for a location for the install, it let me put the 3ware drivers up.
Once the system was loaded, I was disappointed to find that none of the on-board RAID drives showed up in the add/remove dialog, but I was able to use a utility to make them work with hot-swapping.  It is called Hotswap!
    http://mt-naka.com/hotswap/index_enu.htm
and it allowed me to connect/disconnect drives plugged into the on-board controller housed in the Thermaltake MAX-2533.
With the settings like that, the BIOS issues disappear, with both the on-board RAID and the 3ware co-existing nicely.  This indicates to me that there is likely something wrong with the standard AHCI BIOS-related screen that makes the 3ware controller unhappy.  I doubt the 3ware is the only BIOS-installing card to feel that way, so if you have your drives set to AHCI, but have issues with any other cards, you might look into setting the drives to RAID or to IDE (though you lose some features like NCQ)
I also forgot to mention that I also have a four-port PCI-Express NIC from Intel in the system, so I have updated the system summary below:
    MSI 890FXA-GD70 | AMD Phenom II X6 1090T | ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B | CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B |  HIS Silence H557HR1G Radeon HD 5570 | Antec Solo Black case | Corsair CMPSU-750TXV2 | 3ware LSI00216 (9750-4i) | Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad Port NIC | Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS (x7) | Thermaltake MAX-2533 | Plextor PX-L890SA | Plextor PX-B940SA-11

  • MS GS70-2PE BIOS issue

    Hi,
Recently i began to get an issue when you press delete button all it gives is black screen with "-" on screen.
I have not flashed bios or anything :/ so i have tried holding in the battery reset and that did not solve it and i have done power button same there nothing solved so does anyone else have a fix for this? since i cannot enter bios at all now.

well no i havent and now i began to get issue again -.- so yeah i might flash it to see if it solves it
I have not flashed 10A yet so yeah i cannot do it while bios refuses to work at all :(
Update: now i have new issue :( now it refuses to boot at all since i remains stuck on MSI logo for ages and that power button is lit up orange so if i take hout msata and HDD it still does same it wont boot at all now not even into USB drive or into bios anymore :(
Update 2: Now laptop gives that "-" issue again when booting into bios -.-
Update 3: whenever i put my msata and 1TB back it locks itself on MSI logo again but if i only have 250GB hard disk i got on side putted in then laptop throws black screen with "-" on it :/
so i think its bios issue.
Update 4: i have tried the EC reset nothing either :/ bios isnt responding to me at all it's like it has hanged itself :/ so only fix for me would be disamble the laptop completely and remove cmos battery and see if that would power down the bios chip and then i put it back but doing so will then make it void warranty :(
Update 5: i have contacted the store and hope they will replace it asap since i cannot find fix for this problem :(

  • Z77A-G43 GAMING Bios Issue

Hey all, i'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue or any suggestions for repair. My motherboard is just over a year old and it seems the bios has packed in on me. I don't want to chuck it because I do like this board with my hardware configuration. Before I go any further I would like to say it is definitely a corrupt bios issue and sadly this board only has the one so I cant swap to bios 2. So my question is this: is there a way to flash the bios without being able to POST? The computer currently cycles through the power up process and shuts down after about 1 second which starts again after about 5 seconds and repeats this pattern until I pull the plug.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I had several problems with the machine over the past few days, The computer keeps failing to post and so I reset the bios as per the manual and all was well again but as soon as I restart the pc, I get the exact same problem. no post and have to reset the bios. This went on for several attempts at rebooting until now it just wont boot and resetting the bios isn't working. I know all other aspects of the setup are working because I have tested them so its the only logical conclusion.
if the computer worked before like you said a year + with the same BIOS,
and you didn't change anything to the BIOS before this happens
then its not BIOS issue, BIOS can't broke by itself

Is there no way to get the board to copy a new bios from USB stick or something?
placing the BIOS stick over USB key
but i don't think that will makes any difference

  • Sattelite A660 Freeze/bios issues

I have a satellite A660 for a year already and I've been experiencing some freezes where the PC and i'm unable to do anything, the sound still works for some seconds and them it change to a scratching sound. The issue as always been here but since it only happened one time a month or less i thought it was a windows freeze or some overheating problem but since some time it has happened a lot more times, in four days it happened 8 times. So i tried to update the drivers and nothing change until the BIOS drivers that I'm unable to update because i get the following error ( Firmware does not have flash (AFUWINGUI) support).
I don't know if updating the BIOS while resolve the problem or if a should send the PC to warranty.
Sorry for my english i'm not a native speaker and i'm grateful for those that can read thought my question and still respond.

Have you added extra RAM to the notebook? Maybe the RAM is not compatible or has a problem. You can test the RAM using Memtest (bootable CD)
Windows can get corrupted over time due to bad shutdowns etc.. it may be a good idea to backup your documents and run Toshiba Recovery to restore Windows back to its factory state.
If the RAM passes the test and the freezing still happens on a completely fresh factory Windows install, then it's probably a hardware problem.

  • Toshiba Sattelite C55 B5296 - Power issues

I purchased this laptop in December 2014.  It has been nothing but problems trying to turn it on since day 1.
I troubleshot it early on and they shipped me a new battery.    It did not resolve my issue
I run through the whole "remove battery, unplug, hold power button for 20 seconds, plug back in" thing.  it worked in the begining but now it takes 10-15 minutes of trying that over and over to get it to turn on finally. I have to do this every single time.
It is still under warranty but i have to pay for phone tech support.  What do you think the issue is?  how can i get toshiba to fix this?

    Hi,
First, I don't know what do you mean when you said "power issues"
Is it not holding any charge? or is it really not turning ON?
If the battery has been replaced already, then it requires servicing already. It needs to be sent to them.
It is still under warranty but i have to pay for phone tech support - if you suspect that your laptop has HW problem then you don't need to pay for the technical support as long as it is still under warranty. However that would really depend on what kind of power issue you are having.

  • Toshiba Qosmio x505-q870 Issues

Hi, i'm a proud owner of this laptop and its served me very well for the past 3 years.
Recently i'm having some heat issues where i think the computer is starting to hang/freeze around 75c.  I've checked some other forums and folks say thermal shutdown is MUCH higher than that so i'm kinda curious at why its happening.  Naturally i've cleaned out all the vents, got a laptop cooler, got rid of as much bloatware, and minimized my HDD usage for as much efficiency as i can squeeze out of the machine.  Not too sure what the next step would be to try to minimize the heat.  At rest with the cooler fan i'm looking at 50c while during intense gaming 65-75c, which is where the freezing, BSOD, and other bad things occur.
I've also ugraded my RAM.  i bought 2 sticks of 4 gig Patriot PC3-12800 1600 MHz CL11 1.35v RAM, which are technically compatible as they are the same speed and size as the ram also sold via the Toshiba website.  My first game with the new RAM showed massive improvement in FPS.  However shortly into the next round it froze up where i needed to do a cold shutdown.  Thinking nothing of it, I restarted and began another game and the same thing happened again where it froze.  After that point i stopped to reassess my options.  Heat was also extremely high, but that was nothing out of the norm for my current situation.
After some quick research on what i shoud do, i ran Memtest86 which came back clean after 20 passes, updated my BIOs from v2.3 to v2.9, and tried to get into the BIOs to try to change the voltage being sent into the RAM.  My old ram had 1.5v while the new ones were at 1.35v.  I ran the program cpu-z to see what voltage it was being run at, and it was set at 1.28v so apparently there's something going on.  Unfortunately in the BIOs i couldnt find how to change the voltage settings, so i'm currently at a loss what to do.  Some more reading has brought to my attention that the fans might not also be working at full capacity.  I also tried to see how i can adjust my fan speeds in the BIOs and again came to a loss.
What do i do to try to minimize my heat burden and try to get my RAM integrated smoothly?
