Toshiba Tecra A1 and WLAN PCI-Card PA3266U

Hello,
Can anyone please advise whether or not a Toshiba WLAN PCI-Card PA3266U is compatible with a Tecra A1?. Have done a google search but cannot find a lot of information on this particular part number :-(.
Thank you.
Kind Regards.

Hi
As far as I know your unit has already integrated Wi-Fi compliant wireless LAN 802.11b: Agere, Intel or Cisco. Please check in device manager if the wireless card is listed there.

It probably won't work. Some USB PCI cards will work out of the box with OS X even though the manufacturers don't specifically support it. This ad does not list the card manufacturer or chipset so it's very difficult to tell much about it. Furthermore it states that to modify the settings it requires a Windows-based Utility. Unless the seller has a good return policy I wouldn't buy it.

    HI dear colleagues,
I have an ASUS PCI WLAN card with Broadcom BCM4318 chipset. It works fine with WIndows 7. However, EL5 does not detect it, so I have to connect thru cable to my router modem. According to web sources the correct driver should be b43 for the chipset.
I executed lspci -vnn | grep 14e4 for the device, here are the results. Seemingly bcm43xx is installed, connected but no communication. Do I really need b43? If so, how to get and install it?

OEL is intended for a server environment and its wireless support is poor. If your card is detected great, but adding wireless support is not a priority. Remember that laptops, especially, use cutting-edge hardware to reduce manufacturing costs and that the whole purpose of an enterprise distribution is to provide stability on its supported platforms: updates are churn.
However, OEL will run perfectly fine as a virtual machine, so run Windows 7 to get the hardware support and then run OEL under maybe VirtualBox.

  • Envy 15t-3200 (Ivy Bridge) WLAN PCI Card Replacement

Hello everyone! I just had a quick question - it's rather specific, so I'm just posting to see if anyone happens to have experience with this. Basically, I'm looking to replace the built-in WLAN adapter in my Envy 15t-3200 (CTO). Right now, it has the stock Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 WLAN adapter. This adapter isn't bad by any means, but I'm in the process of upgrading a few parts in my laptop (SSD, RAM) to give it a little refresh, and I'd like to see if I can replace the WLAN adapter as well. The one that I'd like to replace it with is the Intel 7260-Wireless AC adapter (with bluetooth). Hardware-wise, I think everything will work out great. However, the one hesitation I have is the rumored WLAN "whitelist" that may be hardcoded into some HP laptops. So, if anyone has successfully replaced their WLAN adapter in an Ivy Bridge gen. Envy 15t (especially the 3200 CTO), I'd really like to hear about it!
TL;DR: I want to replace the WLAN adapter in my Envy 15t-3200 (CTO, Ivy Bridge gen.) but I'm worried about whether or not the HP BIOS will allow me to boot up once I do.
Like I said, I'm not expecting this to be an easy-to-answer, straightfoward question. It's probably something that can only be answered by someone else who has tried the same thing. Anyways, I'll probably end up ordering the new WLAN card to try it out since I can send it back if it doesn't work. I'll post my results here if I end up going for it!
P.S. I did search the forums and found one other topic about this same issue: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/HE-Envy-15-2013-Network-Card-upgrade/m-p...
It seems like it ended up working for those users, but I think they're talking about a newer (Haswell gen.) Envy laptop. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies/reads this!
Edit: So I just noticed that the service/maintenance manual lists the WLAN module as an "end-user serviceable part," so it seems like this may work after all. I went ahead and ordered the part (from here), and I still plan on updating this post once I perform the switch.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
I'm positive it will work. Intel Envy laptops probably don't have the whitelist because I have tried three different Intel wifi cards and all worked. One of them actually had a very old part number (Intel Ultimate 6300). Don't worry it will be ok.

  • Synchronized sampling from PCI-mounted card and PXI-mounted card

    Hi, everyone
My latest problem concerns sampling. I need to acquire samples from around 20 different (differential) channels and my PCI-card (NI-6224) has only 16 differential inputs. I do, however, have another card (NI-6229) mounted in our PXI-system. This PXI-system seems to be connected to the computer with a network cable. When i try to perform synchronized sampling from these cards with the PCI-card as master I get an error message saying that these cards cannot cooperate. There must be a way to do this...?
I'm using DAQmx and labview 8
    Einar

    Hello!
It is just a matter of taste I guess but I think PXI chassis and synchronization is more convenient since you don’t have to care about physical wires or a RTSI cable.
Data will be stored at your host since it is the Windows application and LabVIEW with its DAQmx Read functions that actually transfer the data from the buffer created by DAQmx to LabVIEWs memory space in RAM.

  • Dual ADC displays and a vid card w/ no ADC ?

    Hi.
I've got a PowerMac G4 with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro vid. card. I bought it when I purchased my 17" Apple display not knowing that the Apple display had its own connector that required me to but a $99 adaptor that also requires a power cord!
Anyway, my old CRT (that acted as my 2nd display on the G4) finally died. I purchased a nice 15" Apple display, but apparently forgot to consider the ADC connection.
I need a cheap, fast solution.
I've got a G4 with the 9800 Radeon which has a DVI and VGA connection.
By the way, does having 128MB DDR of video ram help with rendering time??
Ok, back to the original question.
I also have the original video card that came with the PowerMac G4 1.2mhz Quicksilver. I believe it's an 9000 Radeon. It's got an ADC and VGA connection.
How can I setup a dual display on the G4 with the two Apple displays? Both are ADC and neither card has (2) ADC connections.
I've got two ADC to DVI convertors and I have the VGA to DVI convertor that came with my 17" apple display, but the DVI end doesnt match the DVI end on the 2nd ADC to DVI convertor.
Any suggestions? Is there a dual ADC video card?

    Hi
As far as I'm aware, the Radeon 9000 that came as the stock graphics card in certain PowerMacs had an ADC connector and a DVI connector. It also came with a DVI to VGA adapter. If this is the case you should be able to attach one monitor directly to the ADC connector and the other to the DVI connector using the $99 DVI to ADC adapter. You'd be losing the benefit of the Radeon 9800 though.
Unfortunately there aren't any graphics cards with dual ADC connectors, as the card (and AGP slot) would have to provide enough juice to power two monitors. The options seem to be:
    1. One AGP card with an ADC connector and DVI connector, which would require one DVI to ADC adapter, such as the Radeon 9000.
    2. One AGP card with two DVI connectors, which would require two DVI to ADC adapters, such as the Radeon 9600 retail version. Mines worked perfectly, although there do seem to be problems with it in certain Quicksilvers and Digital Audio G4s.
    3. One AGP card with a DVI connector, which would require a DVI to ADC adapter, such as your existing Radeon 9800 and one PCI card with a DVI connector, which would also require a DVI to ADC adapter, such as the Radeon 9200. An AGP card with an ADC connector would also work but seems pointless given you've already got the 9800 and adapter.
Unfortunately I'm not sure there is a really cheap solution. As already mentioned, there are VGA to DVI converter boxes on the market, but they're incredibly expensive and you'd be converting from digital to analogue and back to digital, with some loss of quality.

  • Usb 2 pci card - not working!

I have a G4 400 MHz with Memory of 1.12 GB and a Bus Speed of 100 MHz.
I recently added a hard drive without problem, and a pci card. This pci card states on the box "compatable with mac osx". However, I have bought an EYE TV stick (for digital channels) which does nothing when loaded in the port. If I test the usb port with an ipod, the ipod charges but does not load on screen. I'm guessing the card is not loading to 2.0 usb speeds, but why?
Very frustrating. Main reason for adding a card was to get the EYE device to work.
    Any ideas?

  • PCI Card for a new SSD. Good Idea?

Just upgragraded my 2009 MP (processor 3.33, video card, Ram). Just got a new 256 Samsung SSD wich is going below the optical drive. Did a search here about PCIe card for the drive and found that there's good and bad about it. Found this model model (Velocity solo x2). Is there one specific brand more suitable? or just make it simple and install the ssd below the optical drive.
    Thanks

The 2008 only has two 16x PCIe slots and the Sonnet Tempo Pro should be in the #2.
Even gpu's do not do as well as later models in performance, and some PCIe cards only supported booting in a 2009 or later.
Installing Mac OS to Sonnet Tempo I am sure you have read of the issues and how to get around it, is even on Sonnettech.com
Even though it 'tests' as xyz MB/sec in the real world the system is fine on SATA2 and in non-RAID setups. The 0.1ns seeks and latency and higher IO for reads. Someone did some thorough tests of different SSDs, different PCIe cards and the synthetic benchmarks. And concluded there was no real difference to the system and work load whether the system was on SATA2, but could be work performance using PCIE for other uses.
Generally I find this to be helpful start: www.macperformanceguide.com on perfomance
Putting scratch and graphic libraries for Aperture/Lightroom and others on a SSD and on a separarte bus helped. Even helps having iPhoto on SSD and the photo library folder on another drive - so you aren't read and write to same.
SoftRAID 4 - using 3 drives in a mirror but it uses "stripped reads" seems like it is fast, simple, less overhead and most people just never get idea of using more than two drives in a mirror, but it works great and makes it easy to pull one for backup. SoftRAID also does a better threaded background rebuild, and during idle time scans its drives for errors and bad or weak sectors. A lifesaver.
Even using the optical bay for the system might be perfect and then using the Tempo Pro for other uses.
With system's and SSD's and stripped, then of course a couple restore images and run DU against the array with TRIM enabled on a weekly basis, something, especially if the array is getting hammered as scratch. Tests though show those SSDs can take huge TBs of punishment day after day, but I have seen my own and read of too many errors.

  • PCI card problems

I've been running for a few years (all the way to 10.4.9) an Advansys 3940UA PCI card to keep an old 36G IBM SCSI drive humming as an extra internal drive. Suddenly, the other day the screen went black with the computer light still on and I went ahead and restarted and everything else was fine including my other 2 ATA internal drives but the SCSI (as well as the PCI card) drive vanished..I've tried re-inserting the card, starting with the SCSI ribbon disconnected and no PCI card trace...What happened? Did the card get fried, is the PCI bus fried? How can I check these things..Techtool doesn't see any PCI circuitry....HELP!

Your best bet is to try another card of the same make and model from the same manufacturer, if you know it worked before in the operating system. If that does not work, try a video card or USB card to see if that works like those by IO Gear. If the USB card does not work, then you know it is the bus. If the USB card does work, then you know it is the SCSI card or what's attached to it. If the USB card does work, to isolate whether it is the SCSI card or what's attached to it, try connecting the SCSI hard drive to a known working SCSI hard drive case and known working built-in SCSI Mac to see if it recognizes the drive. If it doesn't work on another Mac, then you need to use Prosoft Data Rescue to try to recover information off the drive.
If Prosoft Data Rescue doesn't work, then you need a data recovery firm.
Note, SCSI is not particularly well supported on Mac OS X at all. Your best bet is to start moving to Firewire and/or USB 2 hard drives and getting USB 2 cards so you don't have to rely on drivers to perform your work. SCSI was abandoned by Apple back in 1999 when the last of the SCSI built-in Macs was released. Firewire and gigabit ethernet based drives are much better supported.

  • Hetis G41 Supported PCI-card size

The G41 comes with a risercard for support of 1 pci and 1 pcie card. However i cannot see if there is room for a pci-card with a 12 cm wide bracket and print 7 cm wide and 14 cm long.
I hope it is not only for low-profile pci-cards.
Anyone, tried to fit a full hight adapter in this neat box?
From the AVL list i se amongst other a R4350-D512H V161, and from the picture of this graphic card i expect it to be on a 12 cm bracket.
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1640&maincat_no=130

The manual includes a frontal picture of the back side of the Hetis G41.  On that picture you can see the dummy brackets and also USB Ports and other standardized interfaces.  Take a ruler and measure the length of a standard USB interface.  Then measure the length of the port/interface on the picture in the manual.  What you now have is a ratio.  Measure the length of the dummy bracket and apply the ratio.  You should now have an idea regarding the size of the bracket that will fit.
The brackets on extensions cards are usually just screwed onto the card PCB.  Replecements brackets should be available somewhere.  I have a PCI Wireless Card here which came with a smaller replacement bracket for smaller cases.  In a worst case scenario, you could modify the bracket yourself. Unscrew the bracket from the card, cut it and then match the two halves with a tape to meet the appropiate length.

  • Tecra A2 - Need XP drivers for LAN and WLan card

    Hey,
I've got a rather old.. second hand Toshiba Tecra A2 laptop and apparently its in need of an ethernet controller and a network controller drive.
I've been using the toshiba website to download many drivers for this model laptop successfully.
I have installed them all - but i apparently still need these drivers. Where can i get them from.
Or where might i be going wrong in finding them?
    Thanks for any replies ^^
    P.s, its windows xp professional

Sorry - in fact on the toshiba driver downloads page, i downloaded the LAN driver etc, moved the download onto my laptop, extracted all folders and there was no installation device but only an un-installation device, as when i clicked it, it asks " do you want to remove all drivers for all wired intel PRO network connections?"
if i should continue with this what i thought to be un installation program.. let me know :)

  • Which WAN Mini PCI card is suitable for Tecra A1?

I'd like to install optional wireless interface into my old Toshiba Tecra A1, but can't figure out what to buy...
Please, tell me, which card is compatible with my notebook.

This minPCI WLan card should be compatible with Tecra A1: PA3266u-3MPC
But you can order also every compatible device from authorized service provider in your country. They will deliver 100% a compatible WLan card.

WMP200 and WMP54G Wi-Fi PCI cards  installed on PC.
My infrastructure is WLC 2106 and two APs 1231G and one 1242G.
The problem is that the cards have problem with connection to WLAN.
The broadcast SSID must be enable then the cards connect to WLAN otherwise is a problem with connection.
When the card is connected but connection is unstable and poor.
The cards have the newest firmware installed.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
    Kamil

    Hi Kamil,
Have you associated other types of clients with these AP's?  If so, do they perform better?
You might want to start by checking the status of the poorly performing client on the controller while it's connected:
    monitor -> clients
You'll primarily be interested in the RSSI and SNR. The other counters such as 'excessive retries' should be observed as well.
Also check the AP's radio interface stats.  Check for excessive interference or channel utilization.
