Toshiba Tecra M7 suddenly not running

I used my tablet until 12p.m midnight. In the morning when i try to switch on my tablet, suddenly it wont start. The yellow color "power LED" is on but the tablet does'nt run. The usual hard disk "buzzing noise" doesn't appear.
Nothing happens that night. I left it on my table. It did'nt drop at all.
Anyone with similar problem, or anyone know what might happen?

Hello Bora
I have read your postings very carefully and just want to write my comment to all this.
1. > When I first opened it, it took me about 25 minutes to get to windows
> ..there were about 70+ processes
It is nothing unusual and by first start OS must be configured properly. System scans all hardware components and installs all necessary drivers. Believe me 25 minutes is OK and absolutely normal. Every time by recovery image installation system will need the same time for OS starting.
Tablet PC is specific and many different processes runs at the background. Much more as on standard notebooks. Just for example: on Portege M400 I have noticed 67 running processes.
If you want you can check which applications you do not need and disable from startup list in System Configuration Utility. You can also remove different software preinstalled by Toshiba like Norton or any other application you do not prefer.
2. > but Toshiba did not give me any re-installation disk
this is very strange and I hope you got original boxed notebook. If notebook was originally boxed but without recovery DVD please report it to your local dealer or Authorized service partner in your country. They can order new one for you.
3. > but the Toshiba cd is outdated probably
I do not understand what you mean under outdated. It can not be outdated. Recovery image contains OS and all drivers, tools and utilities adapted for your notebook model. Only thing you need is to check latest Microsoft updates. Thats all!
4. > I dont have any os on my computer at the moment
Please contact dealer or service. One copy belongs to you and someone must obtain it for you. I do not want to comment anything about serial numbers because you should have original recovery DVD with your notebook.
Bye and Good luck!

  • Itunes 9.2 (64 bit)  does not run

All of a sudden my iTunes 9.2 (64 bit) on Windows 7 does not run anymore. Repairing the setup did not help. Removing and re-installing the application helped only 1 time, after that the program again did not run anymore. And during that 1 run it did load my (big) library but could not find any of the songs!
Using Window's system restore (back 3 days) did not solve the problem either.
I had been using iTunes 9.2 for a few weeks without a problem. Why doesnt it suddenly not run anymore? What can I do? Thanks for helping!

No error message at all. No clue either.
A few times the program DID run - after around 20 mins waiting it suddenly appeared...
    A few other strange things:
    - After double clicking the iTunes icon something DOES start: the task manager shows the iTunes process, sometimes with up to 40-50% of the CPU capacity, sometimes with low memory usage, sometimes higher
    - When trying to uninstall iTunes (completely) with Revo Uninstaller: the program does not appear in the REVOapplication list
    - When trying to uninstall it through Control Panel I can uninstall it.
    - I disabled my iTunes library, to be sure that the trouble has nothing to do with that. Maybe it could be too big (around 40 thousand songs!) or corrupt. But even without a library the startup is not possible - or incidentally taking 20 mins or more.
    - I ran Advanced System Care to fix registry problems and defragmenting the systems files - no change.
What can be wrong? And more important: what can be done?

  • 40GB Orignal IPod suddenly not showing in Windows or iTunes on Toshiba

I recently had to reinstall my Windows XP operating system on my Toshiba laptop and when I tried to sync my 1st or 2nd generation 40GB iPod in the USB port, my computer no longer acknowledges the iPod. The Apple website solution for Toshiba laptop problems does not resolve my problem. I have the most recent iTunes software on my computer and my iPod plays and operates fine. Does anyone have a solution and/or could provide some insight to why this is all of the sudden happening?

okay, let's check to see if it's one of the non-Toshiba-specific suspects in cases like this.
while the ipod is plugged in, check to see if it is showing up in "My Computer".
if it isn't showing up, let's try:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
if it is showing up, let's try:
iPod for Windows: Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes

  • Upgraded my mac to yosemite and my toshiba backup will not run

I upgraded my Macbook Pro (June 2012 model) to Yosemite and now my Toshiba /backup will not run.  I can see it when I attach it and am able to open the file.  The last backup was in November 2014. Is there a fix or do I have to purchase another backup drive?

Custom will show automatically as soon as you just edit some options. So just go ahead, you don't need to select "custom"

  • Flash videos not running on Chrome or IE on a Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop (Someone Please respond)

I'm using Windows 7 and Chrome and in the last day or so I've had no access at all to flash movies.  I have the newest version of Chrome and the flash plugin.  I've tried a number of things including enabling/disabling chrome plugins and it hasn't seemed to change anything.  All flash video across the internet will not run.
When going here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html, nothing shows up in the box below 1.  Not even an error message.  Flash videos are not working in IE either, and I've tried reverting back to version 10.3 of the player.  Some sites, including Adobe sites, behave as if I don't have flash installed and tell me to download it.   Please, someone help!

Wise of you to investigate in advance.
Your best bet by far nowadays is to get a laptop with hardware virtualization and either the Professional or Ultimate versions of Windows 7 installed. That way, you can use XP Mode.
       Windows XP Mode (Toshiba)
       Windows XP Mode (Microsoft)
You can even open an XP program directly from a shortcut in Windows 7.
For current models suitable to run XP Mode, I suggest you call ToshibaDirect at 888-520-3926.

  • Toshiba Satellite L305-S5909 - DVD ROM / CD Drive will not Run CDs

I have a Toshiba Satellite Model Name: L305-S5909 Part Number: PSLB8U-05302F running Windows Vista 64 with Service Pack 2. The Drive in my computer is, Mat**bleep**a DVD-RAM UJ88OES
I really don't know when this started but we just discovered that our DVD / CD Drive will not run any CDs or DVDs inserted. When I check My Computer or Windows Explorer the Drive shows up. Also I checked the Device Manager and it's there also. I have tried uninstalling the drive and letting Windows Reinstall it and that did not help. I have also upgraded the computer bios also no results.  And I have tried different disks, cleaning the optical eye, etc. The eject command from the computer works but will not run anything inserted.
    Any Ideas?

i had the same problem with my L505D-S5965. you are going to most likely have to replace the dvd drive. the optical eye burned out in mine and from what you have already tried to do to fix it. that is probably what happened with yours. if it is under warranty you can send it to the depot or take it to a toshiba service center near you. if not you can change it yourself.it not to hard.
    hope that helps

  • Which Toshiba Processes Can I Stop Running on my Tecra?

I guess this is one I could try for myself but what "useless" Toshiba processes can I stop running?
I assume this isn't laptop specific even though I have an A4.
For starters as I have no docking station what is the point of the docking process running?
I am referring to unticking in msconfig and other similar software.
Basically is there a list like the windows process one where each process is listed with what exactly it does and what is dependant on it etc?

    Hi Bill
All processes which are running in the background are Microsoft Windows applications and installing Toshiba programs, tools & utilities. I dont know the exactly name of the docking process but as far as I know if you remove the docking utility from the software list and reboot the unit so the background process should be disabled.
    Check this link:
    http://www.reger24.de/prozesse.html
There you will find a complete list of background processes which are possible.

  • CPU Upgrade on Toshiba Tecra M3

    Hi,
I just finished refurbishing my Toshiba Tecra M3 (64MB Nvidia 6200 model) which had been dead for 6 months. Basically it had the mainboard changed (applied new daimond thermal grease over GPU/CPU due to overheating issue), new screen installed, new 160GB Samsung 5400 HDD and body plastics refursbished too and at present its working like a charm and as new condition inside out. The system currently holds a Pentium M 750 CPU (1.86GHZ) and I'm aware that such models supports up to 2.13GHZ. I have tried to replace the CPU with a 2.0GHZ Pentium M 760 SL7SM model however upon boot up, laptop powers up fine to bios but pwoers down soon after. Any idea's what the issue may be? The BIOS has been upgraded to 1.50 (latest version)
    Thanks for any help.

Hi again, just managed to solve the issue by myself. I have resetted the mainboard from the bottom (aside VGA heatsink), reinstalled again latest version of BIOS i.e 1.50 and now I can run my Tecra M3 on a 2.26GHZ CPU (Pentium M 780).
P.S Currently averaging a 60deg temp CPU at high usage. Not that bad for the BBQ warrior.

  • Hello! My MacBook Pro has suddenly started running slow.

    Hello!
I've had my MacBook Pro for since 2011 and it has suddenly started running slow. This has been going on for a month. I've restarted my MacBook several times and even shut it down when I know I will not be using for the remainder of the day. I've tried numerous things to make it run faster including deleting useless files like text documents, pictures, videos, etc. I currently have 92.67GB free of 500GB . I've noticed that when it gets hot it starts running slow or when I play a video game and sometimes when I play videos online.

  • Tecra M5 BIOS not compatible with Windows Vista

Hi, I ran the Vista Upgrade Advisor from Microsoft and it reported that the BIOS on my Tecra M5 was not compatible with Vista and to contact Toshiba. I am currently running version 1.7 - the latest available I think. Is Toshiba going to release a version that will be Vista compatible, or a fix so that I can run Vista on my M5?
I forgot to mention that the machine is a UK M5 (PTM51E)
    Many thanks,

    David,
That's not the case. Whatever the results of the software advisor that you have run, you can install VISTA ok on your Tecra M5 PTM51E portable but obviously subject to you having purchased the license (full version or upgrade) from a local supplier, however, you will have to carry out a new (clean) installation of VISTA which means you would have to wipe your hard disk drive in the process. Obviously, making sure that you backup all of your data first to another system (or to external media) and be aware of the software that may/may not run correctly under VISTA before starting the process.
There's a new M5 BIOS released for your M5 which would then upgrade your existing 1.7 BIOS to the latest version.
The standard 512mb Tecra M5's run VISTA very well. No Toshiba software is available, however, maybe this will be released over time so you can adjust power settings and utilities as you can now under XPP.
After installing and registering/activating VISTA you will be prompted to install various updates (including an updated graphics driver and some patches.) Take these options and then your portable should work better. That said, even the standard VISTA installation works fine (AERO support appears to be improved on the new version plus it looks slightly more optimised and also runs a little quicker.)
If you are familiar with your portable, IT aware, and unsure of wiping your existing system totally, then you could also purchase a additional internal Toshiba SATA HDD kit for the Tecra M5 in order to try VISTA in the short time. Another internal 80gb/100gb HDD would give you the capability to try VISTA without losing all or your XP software and software/networking configurations, enabling you to move back to XPP should you have any (none-Microsoft) software or antivirus software issues stopping you from working after your installation of VISTA. I appreciate that there are costs associated but this would allow you to switch between XP and VISTA more easily (than wiping your current system, installing VISTA and then going back to XPP should any problems occur, not to mention the time savings that this could introduce !)
With VISTA, just take >>GREAT CARE<< with your software. Many (none- Microsoft) software applications have some issue(s) with VISTA because it is new. So, this may mean that you may have to purchase a software update in order to ensure that you have 100% compatibility with your favourite applications (or have to replace your existing software versions entirely with new ones.)
    Strawberry.
