Toshiba will not ship recovery disk to a APO

I am here stationed in IRAQ. I bought a Toshiba laptop from the base exchange(in Iraq) I need to get a recovery disk from Toshiba and tried to order one. Well to my shock Toshiba does not ship to APOs. Afer speaking with a VERY rude customer sevice person who informed she was the higher person I could complaim to, I just had to ask if she was the CEO of Toshiba. They must be someone somewhere who can tell me why they will sell me a laptop in Iraq but will not support it. All I keeped hearing was "we don't ship to APOs" but not why. does anyone know of a Toshiba e-mail address where I can get some help. I am ready to run this hunk of junk over with my tank. Never again with I buy Toshiba.

To the best of my knowledge NONE of the manufacturer's ship to APO/FPO addresses.  The normal reason given for this is that they aren't guaranteed that they will be able to get a reciept signature.  Your best bet is to have it shipped to someone in the US and have them mail it to you.
Of course if you had followed the instructions in your User's Guide you would have made your own and not have needed to order them.  Have you tried the hard drive based recovery utility to fix the system?  Since you haven't provided any details as to what the problem with your laptop is, or what model you have it's difficult for any of us to give you any specific advise that could potentially help you with this.
While I don't condone this type of behaviour or company policy about the APO/FPO addresses, no one has the right to expect Toshiba to provide something that none of the other manufacturer's provide.  I find this situation deplorable and think that ALL of the manufacturer's that sell through base exchanges should be forced to provide FULL support for their products or not be allowed to sell through them.  That is something that the Military and the US Government would have to impose so in effect your real complaint is with the entire exchange program, not the individual manufactorer's.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Hard disk stop working how can recovery may new hard disk on mac book pro and i not have recovery disk the recovery is installed in soped hard disk

i have macbook pro the recovery is in hard disk and not have recovery disk and hard disk stop working now i want to change hard disk but how can i recovery my macbook pro can help me ?

"it shows macintosh HD OSX 10.9.5 but the hard drive that is supposed to be in the upper right corner is not showing up. So it is booting from that drive."
Ok go to "Finder" preferences and make sure the "Hard disk" box is checked.
That will make your boot disk show up in the upper right corner. You can tell it's a boot disk because all the files will look like this instead of just being blank files.

Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (on my MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air via remote disk. In bootcamp (on my air) i allocate the partition, then i click install, and bootcamp will not see the disk from my macbook pro's drive. How do i get the bootcamp assistant running on my MB air to automatically find the disk in my macbook pro with the ISO image of windows 7? The remote disk on my air can find the cd but bootcamp will not begin installing it. Anyway to do this without buying the damned usb drive?

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

  • My Mac Mini will not read TDK disks from my iMac G3.

My Mac Mini will not read TDK disks from my iMac G3.
I used an iMac G3 (2001) -- the ones that looked like a big pod -- running on OS X and saved files to TDK  CD-R, 700 MB disks, which worked fine. Now that I have a Mac Mini (model number  A1347) I cannot get this computer to read those disks, made on the iMac G3.  Once inserted each disk will open and I can retrieve files for a short period, then the problems start. The computer makes some noises, the beach-ball/pinwheel goes around and I cannot get the files to open or the disk to eject. After a while the disk does eject -- to my relief. I keep using Control+E until ejection happens.
My Mac Mini (2010-2011) is hooked up to a View Sonic HDMI LED monitor, an iOmega external hard-drive for backing up, an Epson Stylus C88 Plus printer and to the internet by a fibre 10MB feed. The Mac Mini runs on OS X version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard: Processor Speed:2.66 GHz
I took the Mac Mini to an Apple retailer and he hooked the computer up to one of his monitors and it read the TDK disks just fine. I am now using Sony CD-RW, 700 MB disks, but I would prefer to use my TDKs because I have such a large pile of blank ones to use and there are those TDK disks with information that I want to look at from time to time. Can anyone tell me what to do?
    DJG

Try disconnecting everything attached to the Mini except the monitor.
If that doesn't work, try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later. If successful, copy the files to the original account Public/Dropbox.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • My HP Pavilion zv6000 will not boot/recovery

My HP Pavilion zv6000 will not boot/recovery need help

Disconnect the AC Adapter and Battery from the unit. Hold the Power button down for about 15 seconds. Then without the battery being connected, plug in only the AC Adapter on the unit and check if this powers on the unit. You can also try to reseat the RAM on the unit. You can find the removal procedures on the Service and Maintance guide on www.hp.com for your model notebook. In case the notebook does not work after these steps, it could possibly be a hardware issue on the unit.

  • I give up!!!  iDVD will not burn a disk

I will try to give as much information as I can.  I have been struggling with iDVD for a couple weeks.  It will not burn a disk that has a complete menu.  Let me explain.  I've been  testing it to see if it would burn a disk at various stages of development.  It will burn a disk if I just import the video to iDVD with no menu.  It will burn a disk with partial menu and chapters.  But it will not burn a disk if I have an entire menu, with all the chapter markers, drop zones filled and music.
    Help, please.
    Thank you!!

    Hi
Yes - info - but not really the one I would need. There are so much that can go wrong and in different layers (steps of progress)
    A. First - What You feed iDVD - QuickTime-player can open and play so many more VIDEO-CODECs than iDVD ever can use (it is very picky)
    B. There is the notorious - iDVD BUG - that set's of by going back to Video-Editing program (iMovie, FinalCut or whatever) - then returning to the iDVD project. iDVD will notice but non of the alternatives works - I create a brand new iDVD project - only safe way for me - AND THEN NO RETURN AT ALL !
    C. What other material is used - for menus as Music, Photos and small Video sequences
    D. What Theme was used
BTW - Creating a DVD without a Menu - You must be the only one I've ever heard that was able to do this - It is an often discussed topic here.
    E. And if Your project now runs OK in iDVD - SAVE AS A DISKIMAGE (File menu down to bottom topic)
    F. Does this .img file run OK (Simulated DVD)
    G. Burn it with Disk Util tool.
    H. On What BRAND and Type of DVD ? I only use Verbatim DVD-R (SL-Single Layer)
You see - that it is this kind of info that helps me to make, may be good Guessing's.

You can't run PSE from a USB drive, nor can you transfer PSE to a different computer via a USB drive. PSE must be installed on a computer using the installer program provided by Adobe.

Had the same problem, finally realized that the FileVault Encryption was struck at 19%. Speed back up to normal after I disabled FileVault using terminal command - sudo fdesetup diable
To check whether the FileVault is the culprit, go to System Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> FileVault to see if encryption is in progress.. For me the blue bar was less than a quarter with status 'estimating time remaining'..
Then open Terminal and type in: sudo fdesetup disable
It will then ask for the admin password (to be it asked twice), then it was disabled... Back to normal life again..
Here is my terminal log for reference:
