so i called customer care in India but they dont cater to any product brought from outside India.
i dont know what to do.
it will be respectful if toshiba company representative can solve my problem.

Hi
I think first of all you should check the information in the warranty leaflet which should fin in the HDD box.
Why? Because as far as I know Toshiba Hard Drives are covered with a 2 year standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
Here you can find the details:
http://www.toshiba.eu/Contents/Toshiba_teg/EU/Others/SW/WL_HDD.pdf
There you will find also this info:
This Warranty represents a Carry-In warranty service and is only applicable in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) where Toshiba or its Authorised Service Providers are located.
Unfortunately, this means that this standard warranty isnt available and valid in India
I think you should contact the dealer in Dubai because the dealer did not provide you correct information about the warranty.

  • Transfering iTunes from small Portable HDD to 1TB HDD - Losing ratings etc.

I have a 40gb portable HDD, this ran out of space so I purchased a 1TB portable HDD as I do a lot of design work and Music is outgrowing the 40gb HDD.
After transfering it all over, little explaination marks flag up every time you click on a song.
I have used iPod Rip before when I moved my iTunes from iBook G4 to 40gb HDD for the same reason but lost all info like rating songs (which I cant be bothered to re rate 3000 songs!!) and play counts and things like that.
Any suggestions before I permantly delete iTunes from my 40gb HDD?

    hi nicholas,
if you got exclamation point before your songs it is because the reference link between your iTunes library and your song files have been broken most probably because of an incorrect way to move your songs.
you must think that your iTunes library is simply a database that contains reference link to where your songs files are located. if you move your files, the reference link contains in the iTunes library will no longer find your file and iTunes will show you an exclamation point to show you this situation. therefore, I beleive that what you have done was to move your songs using the finder without correcting your iTunes library.
in the following article you will find the procedure to move your song files; http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748
depending of what you have done so far, you may possibly put back your song in the correct location using the finder and then follow the procedure described in the above article.
also note that all your rating and playcount are located in the iTunes library file.

  • Why my Toshiba mobile hard drive (1TB) can not be used in the macbook air?

Why my Toshiba mobile hard drive (1TB) can not be used in the macbook air?

If you are speaking of the USB 3.0 Canvio, you are not alone. Call Toshiba and check on their progress in alleviating the problem. I heard they are blaming Apple, but since theirs is the only drive that exhibits this problem, I think the burden is on Toshiba.
Some users have reported that by using a micro USB 2.0 connector (see bottom picture), instead of the 3.0 that comes with the drive, that it is a workaround. Notice that the 3.0 connector has sort of a "dual head" nature to the construction. One part of it is 2.0 USB micro compatible. I've never tried it myself though.

  • Toshiba STOR.E Basics 1TB - extremely slow

    Hi,
I've recently bought this Toshiba STOR.E Basics 1TB USB 3.0 HDTB110EK3BA and it's extremely slow, taking already around 48h for copying less than 100Gb.
I'm formating it Mac Os Plus and using a Mac Book Pro with USB3
    Why is that happening?
    Thanks
    BR/ Javi

Why the data transfer is slow?
Who knows there are many reasons for that you will need to check some few things to get an answer for that
Fact is that this HDD support the USB 3.0 standard.
This means that this HDD operates with USB 3.0 performance (~ 130MB/s)
Fact is that the USB 3.0 HDD needs more power than the common USB 2.0 HDDs.
The USB 3.0 needs 900mA, the USB 2.0 HDD needs 500mA
Therefore its recommended to connect such HDD to two USB 2.0 ports using Y USB cable.
At the other hand the data transmission speed might be limited to the notebook (chipset).
Maybe your internal HDD does not provide more performance to transmit the data to the external HDD.
I read some test about this HDD and many users got the great performance.
    Using USB 2.0 ports: 31,8 MB/s write ; 31,5 MB/s read
    using USB 3.0 ports : 105,45 MB/s write ; 108,89 MB/s read
I recommend you to install some Disk Benchmark tools like ATTO to check the performance using other computer.

  • Toshiba Stor.E tv 1TB PA4209E-1HJ0 SYSTEM FIRMWARE UPGRADE?

    Hey
I just purchased a toshiba stor.E tv 1tb multimedia player but it doesn't support mkv video formats & others like rmvb
Is there any system firmware upgrade that i can flash into the bios?
If so pls provide me with the link to it ?
Note : i did not find it on the support page
But i have read that the Stor.E tv 2TB's support the video file formats i'm looking for.
Would it be possible to use the same firmware bios on the 1Tb ?
    thanks & regards

    hey there,
i just purchased the same hdd. my problem is: after some trys to make it compatible to my mac (i created two partitions - one fat32 and the other in mac-format) it didnt work any longer. i mean i dont have access to the data when i connect it to my tv. even after turning it back to the former status (one fat partition) its the same. i can see the screen, when i turn it on, but i dont have a menu to choose any file. setup is working as well...
so obviously its not possible to get any firmware or other support. does anyone have a solution? maybe a soft-/firmware i can use???
    thanks,

  • Time capsule versus Lacie portable HDD storage. Which one?

Not sure what to get. I am looking at either a Lacie rugged 1tb or time capsule. I have a MBP 15 " 2010 i7 and I have mobile internet access. I want to back up my computer with a HDD the Lacie is portable and cheaper. My house is very small so I thought a portable HDD would be better. No to sure at moment any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Some folks do online backups, but as "secondary" backups only.  They're quite slow, depending on your upload speed.
They're so slow that many of the services actually ship you a portable drive, so you can do your first backup to it, then ship it back so they can load it onto their servers.  Then you "catch up" via the internet.
When you need to restore individual files, it's usually much faster since most internet connections have much faster download speeds.  But even a relatively-fast connection will take quite a while to do a full system restore.

  • 1TB Canvio Connect

I first must say that I am fairly ignorant when it comes to electronics, but I can follow and learn if someone takes the "For Dummies" approach with me.
I just purchased the 1TB Canvio Connect after almost losing nearly a GB of personal files on a laptop with a failing HD. I plugged it into my Toshiba and installed the backup software that came with it. I then backed up my files, and did the system backup. Everything went like clockwork with no problems, but I do have questions.
When additional backups are made, do they leave the preceding backups, or do they write over or modify/update them?
Can I use the Canvio Connect for both backups and other, loose files that aren't part of a backup at the same time?
After the system backup I upgraded to Windows 8.1. If I now do another backup, will I, in the future, have the option of restoring either 8 or 8.1 to my computer?
Thank you to any and all who help, and please be in the "For Dummies" mode if you reply!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I decided to erase the USB recovery media for my Toshiba so I could use the USB drive to transfer my files
Thank you for the information. I take it the "USB drive" in there refers to the thumb (aka flash) drive.
Use Disk Backup in AOMEI to create an image on the external drive which enables you to return the entire disk to its present state. It also makes it possible to restore to a newly installed hard disk.
Sure. You can use that same program to back up the same computer at different times and/or different computers at the same time or any combination. You need to name the backups so that they are recognizable. I have a 2 TB drive with backup images from several computers.

  • How do I install 3Q portable HDD External U275-BS on my MacBook Pro 10.7.2

HI there - I just bought a 3Q portable HDD External U275-BS in Russia and it won't let me copy to it. Any suggestions? Thanks! Lorrain

Most likely the drive is formatted in Windows NTFS, which Macs don't normally write to (only read) without extra software. You should be able to reformat the drive with Disk Utility. If you only use it on the Mac, reformat it in Mac OS GUID.

  • Is it possible to install a 160 GB Toshiba slim-fit HDD from an iPod Classic 2009 model into a iPod 5th Gen Late-2006 model that originally had a 30 GB Toshiba drive?

Is it possible to install a 160 GB Toshiba slim-fit HDD from an iPod Classic 2009 model into a iPod 5th Gen Late-2006 model that originally had a 30 GB Toshiba drive?
I have had my 30 GB iPod video for about 7 years, it was a gift and has served me well. Unfortunately it was in my pocket when I brushed up against a very powerful magnet which latched onto the unit and scrambled the hardware. Sad iPod icon.
I was told I probably need to replace the HD in order to get it back to working order. What I am wondering is, would I be able to replace it with a larger capacity drive so long as I got a unit that was slim enough to fit into the casing?

Have you tried resetting the PRAM? http://gigaom.com/2011/07/26/when-to-reset-your-macs-pram-and-smc/
Which Windows version are you trying to install? If I remember right, you can't use windows 8 on these older machines.
Other than that it's hard to say what could have gone wrong. I can only suggest going through the steps again carefully and making sure everything worked the way it should.
Have a look at this article too for a slighly more verbose instruction on making a drive bootable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Install-Windows-7-without-USB-or-DVD-without-upg ra/

  • Can I install windows 7 on my portable HDD from my Mountain lion? and how i need to do it?

Can I Install Windows 7 on my portable HDD from Mountain lion ? And how i need to do it?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Because of a Microsoft restriction, Windows can't be installed on an external drive (there are workarounds, but you need Windows). Apart from that, Boot Camp only works with the hard drive where you have installed OS X, so you can't use it to install Windows on an external drive

  • Why is my portable HDD no longer readable?

My WD portable HDD is no longer readable on my computer. Whenever I connect it, an error message pops up saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". It was working fine this morning and I've never had any issues with it before. It contains a lot of documents that will take quite literally hours to copy across to another computer in order to 'repair' or 'reformat' or whatever it is that it asks me to do. I've opened disk utilities and the repair disk button isn't available, nor is the verify disk button. I've restarted the computer to no avail an have tried both USB ports. I've also checked the cable that connects the portable HDD to the computer. Nothing has changed. I also have another portable HDD of the same brand (slightly older) which is working fine. The only thing I can think of that has changed is that Time Machine did it's back up. Could it have done something? PLEASE HELP!

I've just tried it in other computers (admittedly they run Windows, but I'm 99% sure that I formatted it so that it could be used on both Windows and Mac), and tried it with a different cable that was working with another HDD. Nothing. Which leads me to believe that it might be the device itself. It's not that old though and it was just sitting on my desk so I don't understand how or why it's no longer working. If anyone knows of a way to remove/back up the disk I would greatly appreciate it. I'll be devastated if I loose all the files on it.

  • Toshiba Stor.e basics 1TB Extremely slow on Mac Book pro

    Hi,
I've just bought a Toshiba Stor.e basics 1TB and it's extremely slow, it's taken around a day and still 2 are pending to conclude a copy of less than 100 gigas, 3days!!!
I've tried formating it with FAT32 and MacOs Plus, same results, what's wrong with this product?
    /Javi

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region.

  • Can't copy pictures to a portable HDD

    Hi,
I am trying to select multiple pictures to copy across to a portable HDD. It will let me copy single pics, but when I want to copy multiple pics it won't let me do it because it says 'MyPicture.jpg' is busy. Well, I have thrown that file into the trash and emptied it, but it still won't let me.
    Any ideas?
    Thx,
    David

What format is the external HDD?
    On a hunch, try this...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, when that completes...
    Reset Launch Services...

    Reboot.

I'm not sure if you are trying to connect your computer to the internet using your phone or if you want to connect it wirelessly to share files. Could you please clarify?
The message you're seeing is because you are connected to a public network and in that case your computers firewall will block UPnP which is used to connect wirelessly to share media between the phone and computer. Are you sure you want to open your firewall for this on the network you're connected to? You don't need to do this for using the phone as a modem.
