Total iMac failure! Please help. Problems with freezing, and time machine

My iMac has started to go crazy over the last week. It started crashing repeatedly, so much so that it could take me 10 tries just to get it going. I was able to run disk warrior and disk utility and neither of those came up with any issues. I took it into the apple store and they repaired permissions and cleared the cache and of course nothing happened while the mac was in the store.
When I came home I started trying to clear out excess files and organize to save space and memory. I downloaded cleanmymac as well as crucial.com's scanner as recommended by the mac genius. Unfortunately, that night after everything had been working fine, the computer started crashing all over again. I get lines through my screen, it locks up, things get distorted, etc.
In addition, I noticed today that all of my time machine backups have been deleted from my machine. The only one that exists is a huge one that was created the day after it was examined at the store. I have no idea how that happened as I have not touched the time machine settings. To make matters worse, the time machine will not even back up now. It says there isn't enough space. (There are 160GB available). Shouldn't it just be making incremental backups? All I am doing at this point is deleting files anyway!
If anyone has any suggestions at all, please offer them!!!

Hi, unfortunately it sounds as though your Mac needs the attentions of an Apple Service Technician.
You do not say how old your Mac is or if you have Applecare..
In any event I feel you will do best as I previously said -> Apple Service Technician.
Don't forget to L I S T all your issues/worries......L

OS 10.6 - Please help - problem restoring system from time machine!

Today I installed a little program to convert flac audio files to mp3. When I ran the program the computer froze, so I rebooted but then I could move the cursor but not click on any menus or icons on the desktop, they just wouldnt respond - so basically I couldnt use the computer. After re-booting a few times with the same result I decided to reinstall the system using time machine from an external hard drive. I reinstalled OSX, then reinstalled Snow Leopard, then reinstalled the system from a previous save from Time Machine. It said the installation was successful, but when the computer restarted a message comes up saying "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again". Ive done this about 5 times now but it always just says the same message without starting properly. WHAT DO I DO???? I really need to use my computer tomorrow so any help is hugely appreciated!!! TIA
PS. i have done a hardware test in "loop mode" and it says everything is fine

how exactly did you reinstall the system from TM? please give details. the correct way to do it is to boot from the snow leopard DVD and use the "restore system from backup" utility in the Utilities menu. there is no need to reinstall anything prior to using that utility. the restore utility wipes your hard drive and restores it to the state it was in at the backup time.

Please help - problems with iPod Nano

I saw a page in my Popular Science magazine and it had iPod Linux. So I went to the website installed it, and it worked!!! But the problem is , is that when I plug it in to my computer, it charges but won't show up as a drive. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm a fairly big Imogen Heap fan, and her new CD came out the 25th. So I went to Best Buy and I bought the deluxe version which includes a seperate disc with instrumentals. I got home, put it in, and my Mac made a "scratching" kind of noise, then it spit out the disc. I figured there was a problem with it, I went back to Best Buy, got a new one, and it did the exact same thing.
HOWEVER, both of the instrumental discs worked just fine, and imported just fine. The normal audio disc also works on my Ubuntu computer, Windows computer, and my other Early 2009 Macbook Pro. I also restarted my Mac, cleaned the disc, and that did nothing.
So, what's the problem do you think?
(Also I went to Apple but there were no appointments available, and they were too busy to just look at it without an appointment )

I didn't do an OS install, I took it to an apple store and made a Genius Bar appointemnt. Explained the proble and after 15min conversation, they diagnosed it as teh following;
The felt/rubber where you put the CD/DVD had gone hard and the friction is causing the CD/DVD to get stuck and be loaded. They tried to tell me that I need to replace the top case (£140+VAT) as its in-built into it or I can use a £3 spudger to push the CD's in......needles to say the Spudger works fine.....Shame I wasted £100 on the new optical drive ;o( Maybe sell teh spare on eBay....Happy days!

Please help. New Mac Air & Time Machine problems.

Recently I replaced my wife's MacBook with a brand new MacBook Air. We used an iomega model RPHD-TG external HD for Time Machine with FireWire on the old laptop.
However, since the Air does not have FireWire I am using the USB cable that came with it. It works fine when the Air is awake.
The problem is that whenever we put it to sleep then wake it we get this message every time:
"The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off." Then it proceeds to "repair" it then mount it.
Now, there is no on/off switch on this drive nor do we unplug it. Any ideas?

Open Energy Saver preferences. Look at the checkbox labeled, "Put the hard disks to sleep when possible." If it is checked then uncheck the box. See if that helps.
If your Iomega came with software to configure the drive for spindown when not in use, then disable that option.

Please help me with recording and playing audio simultaneously!!!

Right now I can either play the incoming stream OR record it. I tried making Clones for datasource like :
DataSource clone1 = Manager.createCloneableDataSource(originalSource);
Then I pass it to these 2 classes:
new playThread(clone1).run;
new recordThread(clone1).run;
playThread is a Thread class that will take the cloned datasource and then plays it while recordThread will record the incoming datasource. Here is what happens when i run them one after another:
When I run playThread before recordThread I get ACM driver error. But if I run the recordThread before playThread the playThread's playerWindow shows up and plays for a split second then stops; The recordThread does record all the incoming stream though... Here are my questions....
1. Anyone know what my problem is? is it resource alocation? Threading problem?
2. Did I use the clone datasource correctly? I tried making clone1, clone2 but those didnt work well either...Should I do anything to the clones for record and play? all I did was pass them to the 2 classes and those classes just use them straight out without proccessing or anything...

i dont think it is... i tried the clone thing but samething happened... it might be a Thread problem since when i put those together sometimes record runs sometimes player runs... and at the end i get "ERROR while querying ACM driver's information" error..... i am really confused...

I'm knew to podcasting, so if someone could help me out you'd rock. I have a show on podbean.com, and my show is also on iTunes.
I burned the feed with feedburner, but feed burner shows 0 subscribers 0 listeners. Podbean.com shows hundreds of downloads.
Could someone explain to me IN PLAIN SIMPLE ENGLISH how to get iTunes to recognize my feed burner version of my feed?!?! I can't seem to make sense out of any answers online, and i am frustrated!

This is the problem with services like Podbean, they may make things easy, but you don't have a lot of control. The same is true of Feedburner, of course; mostly it works OK but you should be aware that if you wanted to change from it you would have the same problem. On the plus side, you can change the feed which you submit to Feedburner without upsetting iTunes, and of course you get the statistics which iTunes does not provide.
In order to remove your existing podcast, follow the instructions here. Then submit anew using the Feedburner feed, or another if you decide to do that.
However, if you keep the same title you will probably have the submission rejected on the grounds that a podcast of that name has already been submitted (even though it's been removed) - this appears to be a bug in the Store. You will probably need to make a small change to the title - a bit of punctuation, perhaps, such as 'Today - in iPad'; you could then change the title back once the feed has been accepted and is up and running.

I've been having a problem recently w/making rollovers in
Fireworks 8. Whenever I change the color of the text (intended to
be made into a rollover link) in one frame, it changes the color of
that text in all of the frames. I've never had this happen in the

Make sure that Share Across Layers, and Share Across Frames
are unchecked.

Problem with date and time syncing itouch to macbook

i have a problem with the date and time on ical when i sync my itouch4 w my macbookair. whatever i entered into my calendar in itouch will appear different in my ical( with a 6 hrs advance difference) and the alarm i set on my itouch in the calendar doesnt ring at the right time as set even though it is shown the time that i wanted.
Both my macbook n itouch are set to the same time zone and i have checked this many many times n the time is the same on both machine. but i just dont understand why is there a time difference when synced and my alarm just dont sound at the time it was supposedly set. it rings hours later n showing a different time that it was set but in the parenthesis the right time that i had set it.
One time my computer ran out of battery n went into sleep mode and when i open it again, the time n date setting was all off. which im surprised why it had gone off. So did this create the problem i have now with the date n time sync or something else?
please help!!!!

Having the same problem, & am running Parallels (which I haven't used for some time) not boot camp. I tick the box labeled "Set time automatically" & lock the "click the lock to make changes". When I reboot, the Lock is unlocked and the "set time...." is unticked. Any ideas. Cheers.

Problems with creating a Time Machine backup on external HDD

Hello!
I tried to make a new Time Machine backup file on my external harddrive today.
Unfortunately it stopt after about 6 or 7 gb with the popup:
''the backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk. The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk''
I'm certain that the HDD (Western Digital 1Tb) was correctly formatted (Mac Os Extended (Journaled)). It's the same type as my internal harddrive.
I also have a Time Machine Buddy logfile. Maybe that will help in finding the problem.
Also noticable is that after the backup failure, I can't seem to restore or format the external HDD. Once I connect it to a regular pcc and remove and reinstall the driver, I can use it again.
