Total Ink Density too high

We have a customer who likes to use a dark maroon color over dark background areas, using multiply to enhance the image visually. The problem is that since the transparency setting is 'multiply', The total ink density is around 350 or in some cases 380. Is there another transparency setting to use or anything else to get the same effect without causing such ink saturation?
Thanks!

You can set up a custom preflight profile. You have to go through the billion of options in the "user defined check-ups" (I'm not sure about the english name). The search box should be of help. Somewhere further down the list are some examples of TAC-check-ups (also not sure about that term and if it is used this way in acrobat: total amount of color). And of course you can modify the settings.
Cheers,
Alex

  • BluRay error message "code 6, audio buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 000000 seconds."

    Hello,
I’m trying to create BluRays using Encore and I keep getting the following error messages: ‘code 6, audio buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 000000 seconds.”
For info, I created a H264 Bluray - NTSC 24fps master from an Apple prores HQ in Adobe Media Encoder. Duration: 52m, size: 11go. I'm on Mac OSX 10.9.5, the bluray burner is Samsung SE-506CB/RSWD and the BR disks are TDK Blu-ray Disc 50 Spindle - 25GB 4X BD-R - Printable.
I looked around in forums and tried the following without success: replacing disk name to shorter name without space, creating bluray without menu frame, I also tried with a Mpeg2 bluray master. I tried to export a new master but I can't seem to be able to change the audio bitrate.
    Can anyone please help ?
    Thanks.

Hi Stan, thanks for getting back.
I tried to create a new master from Media Encoder but I can only export audio in PCM, I don't get a dolby option. See pic below.
I tried a new project in Encore and chose PCM instead of Dolby in the preference menu, but I still got the same error. Should I try again limiting bitrate to 15 ? I was on 30 before.
Please help, I've already wasted 10 bluray and this is getting really frustrating!

  • When burning a bluray I get this error message: Total bitrate is too high near time = 4.760000

When burning a bluray I get this error message: Total bitrate is too high near time = 4.760000
The video is encoded with sonic cinevison as avchd file and one AC3 file.

What can I do to avoid it?
Well, about the only thing you can do to solve "bitrate too high" errors is to lower the bitrate.

  • Blu-ray Error: "fatal error". Code: "6". "Video buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 1.456333 seconds -

Every time i try to burn a blu-ray, this message appears and i can't proceed to the process.
Can anybody help me? I need it for my job.

I could swear I posted this yesterday. But no, the forum did not. Here is the recovered version....
    From http://forums.adobe.com/message/6004943#6004943
You will find a number of other threads with this error message.
I think it usually reflects a real datarate problem, but sometimes because there are spikes that should not have occurred with the transcode settings used.
But the solution/workaround is to reduce datarate.
There may also be times where changes in the type of transcoding (CBR, VBR one or two pass) has fixed the issue for a particular project.
In this thread, Jon Geddes recommends a max of 27 or less.

  • Blu-ray Error: "file already exists", Code: "6", "Audio buffer underflows. Total bit rate too high

Hopefully someon can help me out here - I'm stuck in my tracks.    I'm reading through lots of threads on this topic, but don't understand what is going wrong here.    CS6.  Note: I have used Encore prior to put this material on a disc.  I presently have a separate sequence paired down with only about 1/5 of the whole production.   1920x1080i, 29.97, H.264 Blu-ray, VBR 2-pass, PCM inside PP to produce .m4v/.wav.  Here is what is confusing me - I tried a target of 10 and a max of 20 and I still get this error.   I have tried different max bit rate "Default Transcode" settings in Encore as well.    Note the time code listed "0.000000" - maybe that tells someone something.    I don't really understand Encore yet, so maybe it is something I set wrong in Encore vs. my exports?

There are many similar, but not identical errors. And I assume you had already followed John's advice to review older threads. It is true they never quite pin a single set of issues down.
What specific version of Encore? Updated to 6.0.2.004? Encore staff once said updates solved some of these errors.
You say .wav for source files in Encore. But what format in the project? ac3?
Your versiono f the error is different from other one I see because it has a "audio buffer" rather than "video buffer" underflow.

  • Press colour profiles / ink density

I am setting up press. I have been given colour profiles. I go edit convert to colour profile. I save the file and place in indesign. I make a high res pdf set to 2001 and this colour profile and my ink density is still too high.
Am I not converting the colour correctly?
I have a lot of press to get out, each with bespoke images and not much time to do it.
    Please help. Thanks!

    Hello
The colour profile was supplied by the newspaper.
The tac max was stated by the newspaper.
I checked the tac in acrobat > output preview (same as you use)
The image showed up bright green areas showing that the ink density exceeded limit requested.
I must be doing something wrong just not sure what it is?

  • When I print business cards, they sometimes print 1/4 too high but not always.

I have my business cards in a Word document using an Avery template. I have used the same file for years. I never had a problem with my Canon printer but after buying an HP Photosmart D110 I have had nothing but problems. When I print then they print about 1/4 inch too high ruining the cardstock and wasting ink. This doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I print and they are perfect but when I go back and print another, the problem returns. This is the same card stock I have used for years and when it is inserted in the printer it doesn't matter if it is a single page or a stack of them. I have tried previewing the page before printing and the alignment is correct. I've tried printing to a PDF and then printing the PDF, same problem. I try it on the Canon and no problem. Only reason I bought this in the first place was the cartridges were cheaper and I do a lot of color printing and scanning!  I have just replaced the cartridges and did a head alignment so that is not the problem. I have tried it with regular paper and the problem persists. I'm ready to drop kick this thing and buy another Canon!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Did you ever find a solution for this problem? I have no problem printing the business cards out on a Canon printer, or a different HP printer I used to have, but the D110 is nothing but a pain in the you know what !  I'm using publisher and the avery 8371 card stock,  I searched solutions for days and did everything possible but still they're not printing correctly!! I'm dissapointed in this printer, every time I have a problem with something it always seems to be an HP product!!!  Very frustrating because I never had to mess with any settings in the other printers I had, I would just put the file in, change the quality and click the print button with no problems. I'm ready to throw this printer out the window Anyway thanks in advance and I hope somebody can help me with this issue !!!

  • IMac Hard Drive expectations, Are mine too high?

    Hey everyone.
I have a 27" iMac i5. Its around 22 months old now and its being used as a personal PC at home.
Lately, I have been experiencing HDD related issues, It hangs, load times are poor, OS takes ages to boot (windows and OSX)
I backed up all my data to external drives and did a clean OS restore to Lion. No help, first boot with the OS was just as bad as a boot full of clutter. Loading Windows on the win partition also sometimes gives me the "cannot find OS boot disk" error which is scary.
Anyway's doing research its all sure tell-tale signs of a failing HDD and ironically last night on my Win7 partition, I got the windows error message saying my "windows detected a hard disk problem, back up all data and contact your manufacture".
Now, back on topic. Is this reasonable? a $2000+ computer suffering from a hardware fault like this when the HDD has never had more than 30% of the 1TB used in its life? (everything I keep backed up on externals.)
I was honestly expecting a few more years out of this, **** even my 5 year old Macbook has never had an issue in its life and its been bagged around more places I can think of in its lifetime. How does a computer that sits on a desk suffer for a hardware failure such as this?
From day one, I had a faulty power board inside, it caused a loud electronic buzzing noise. I did not get this fixed for aroun 9 months as tbh, it sounded normal but in the last month leading upto the replacement, it got much louder over a few days. This was replaced by Apple and I was sent on my way happy it was fixed. could this have caused something to overload?
I am a little bit bitter which I am sure you can understand, but was my expectation of this hard drive just too high? or am I in my right to be a little upset by this?
And before anyone askes, I was OS when my warranty ran out, my Macbook, iPad 3XiPhones and Mac Mini are all covered by their own Apple Care. the only thing that isnt is the iMac.. just my luck!
Edit: the old link for the power board.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2737002

    Thanks guys.
Just got off the phone to Applecare.
they confirmed my drive is faulty. Im just a little upset it died like this. I have never had a drive fail before. Id rather my externals go than the internal.
Spoke to Apple, they said that he spoke to his Tech Specalist and they would not offer a free replacement. I agree is its 10 months out of warranty, but even the Apple rep I was speaking too said he would not be impressed either if it was his personal computer
Oh well. Time to look at HDD Upgrade options! Not that I am totally impressed about it.

  • ORA-25307: Enqueue rate too high, flow control enabled

I am stuck. I have my stream setup and they were previously working on two of my dev environments well. Now when I get the streams setup the CAPTURE process has a state of "CAPTURING CHANGES" for like 10 seconds and then changes to state "PAUSED FOR FLOW CONTROL". I believe this is happening because the PROPAGATION process is showing an error of "ORA-25307: Enqueue rate too high, flow control enabled".
I don't know what to tweak to get rid of this error message. The two environments are dev databases and there is minimal activity on them so i don't think it's a case of the APPLY process is lagging behind the PROPAGATION process. Has anyone run into this issue?? I've verified my db link works, my stream admin user has dba access. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks, dave

As rule of thumb, you don't need to set GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE as long as your are 100% GLOBAL_NAME compliant.
So, setting GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE will not have any effect if your dblink is not global_name compliant
and if your installation is global_name compliant, you don't need to set GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE.
The first thing when you diagnose is to get the exact facts.
Please run this queries both on source and target so that to see what are in the queues and where.
Run it multiple time to see if figures evolves.
    - If they are fixed, then your Streams is stuck in its last stage. As a cheap and good starting point, just stop/start the capture, propagation and target apply process. Check also the alert.log on both site. when you have a propagation problem, they do contains information's. If you have re-bounced everything and no improvement then the real diagnose work must start here but then we know that the message is wrong and the problems is elsewhere.
    - if they are not fixed then your apply really lag behind for what ever good reason, but this is usually easy to find.

  • Video bit rate too high when try to build and burn.  Audio is AC3

I am trying to burn a dual layer DVD and when I go to build/format the DVD it says that the video bit rate is too high. I am confused by this because this DVD was burned previously without a problem. Changes had to be made to the project and the files were compressed in compressor with the same settings and now they do not work. The audio is AC3 dolby. Is there some setting that needs to be changed in DVDSP? What am I missing here...
I am using FC Studio 2.
    Thanks!
    Natalie

I don't know exactly what the total length of the video is in minutes, but I do know that it is 6.8GB for a dual layer. Probably at least 3 hours. I don't know what the target bit rate is? Is what you are referring is to what the compression I used in compressor?
I am using the setting DVD Best Quality 150 minutes 3.7mbps for video and the AC3 for the audio.
I am recompressing all the videos again just in case there was a problem with one of the compressions. I don't understand why it isn't working this time when none of the settings or compression had changed.
    Thanks!!

  • Muxing bitrate too high

Authoring in DVDSP 4.0 the build and format fails with the message in red "Muxing bitrate too high" The disk is only half full. I did go into preferences and lower the rates, but still same result. Any suggestions?
    thanx

    Hello thinkfinkinc and all others
Did you solve your problem? if yes, what did you do?
I have the same problem. And it´s when adding more than one audiostream that it fails.
    My case:
One still overlay Menu (edited in Photoshop) with four buttons, all targeted to one Videotrack
(a slideshow 43 minutes edited in Final Cut Pro, exported to Compressor (MPEG-2 High Quality Encode Widescreen 6.0Mbps 2-pass VBR 16:9),
but to different audiostreams (two buttons plays the same audio, music only, one button for a swedish voice over and one for an english voice over))
Adding only one audiotrack (DVD PCM Audio AIFF) to this and it works fine.
Adding more than one audiotrack and it fails. I have tested that out
It works fine in simulator, with all three audiotracks.
    Total content 3,3 GB.
This talk about ac3 as audioformat, did it work? And if, how did you get there? I cant find no way to convert AIFF to ac3. Not through FCP, Compressor or DVDSP.
At my first fail it said "Muxing Bitrate Too High", and after testing different combination it now says "Video Bitrate Too High".

  • Total ink coverage problem

    Hey there!
I have this strange problem I cannot figure out. Any advice would be highly aprecciated. I'm making a magazine in Indesign and when I export the pdf (or print postrcript file and distill the pdf) then the total area coverage of inks of the images are way over limit when I check it in Acrobat.
I have converted all the images from RGB to CMYK using correct profiles. I have several different papers in the magazine, so I used Fogra27 (300 total ink) for coated papers and custom Swop for uncoated paper (260 total ink).
Then I preflight the document in Indesign then it's says all the ICC profiles are emedded in the images.
I even tried to export from Indesign with the overall color profile included. But it's the same problem.
I cannot figure out why the images are still over limit?
    Thanks a lot!
    Risto

Well what profile does the Acrobat file have embedded? Sounds like you are doing a conversion upon creation.

The conversion of the images with correct profile should avoid the total ink to be over the top, right? I have tons of images, so adjusting the channels manually for dark places is not really an option.
    Thanks a lot!
    Risto

    >Keep the apps in the same colorspace as the Photoshop files you can sync your apps in Bridge is you own the suite.
Risto can't do that because in PS he needs to separate the uncoated and coated images using different CMYK spaces and place them in one ID document. The ID document can have only one assigned CMYK space.
The job really needs to be split into two documents one for the uncoated and one for the coated signatures then there wouldn't be conflicting profiles and all the previews will be accurate.
He can stay in one document but the placed files can't have embedded profiles, or the conflicting embedded profiles need to be turned off in ID. In that case the previews would be less accurate, but there wouldn't be unwanted conversions at output.

    Video Bitrate Too High
    Build cancelled
I've been having this problem for a couple days now. I'm not sure what to do. I have 4 videos and they seem to render well under 3 GB, but it's mainly the menu that doesn't work. Can anyone suggest anything? If you have any more questions, just ask.

Well if you're using PCM audio (.aif) you've got no chance with a bitrate that high. PCM audio takes up 1.536Mbps of your total bandwidth. So at 9 you are way over already!
Even if you use DD AC-3 you pretty much have no chance too cause many encoders will spike over the max for VBR or target with CBR and at the bitrate you are leaving no headroom,
Reduce your bitrate, cause as the message says, it's too high,
