Total number of photos in library?

How can you locate the number of total photos in your entire library? It tells me the total number per project created or album but I was curious if there was a way it can tell me how many photos I have all together.

Select the "Photos" container near the top of the Library Inspector.  Set the Browser filter to "Show All".
If you stack your Versions, collapse Stacks.  The number of items reported in the status bar of the Browser is the number of Originals in your Library.
Expand all Stacks.  The number of items reported in the status bar of the Browser is the number of Versions in your Library.

  • How do you tell the total number of photos in PSE 11 Organizer

I have used PSE 9 and there was a line at bottom that told the total number of photos in the Organizer.  I now have PSE 11 and I can find no such line, and I have not found a way to tell the total number of photos in my Organizer.  Where is this information hidden?
    Thanks for you help.

You should see it bottom left of Organizer.

  • Maximum number of photos in library?

I have more than 16500 photos in my iPhoto 5 library. When I try to add more photos, the program crashes after the import, apparently while "digesting" the photos. I tried rebuilding the library, no help. The only way I found to cure the problem seems to be to split the library into two parts. I'm thinking there might be a problem when a library tries to contain more than 16,384 photos, which is a power of two. Has any one else seen this problem, or do you have more than 16K photos in a single library?

Also, I loop hole I have found around this was to minimize the iPhoto window immediately after starting the import and leaving it minimized until I think it's done.... you probably know how long it takes roughly to give it just enough time to finish importing before you unhide the window again. When I do this iPhoto doesn't crash during an import. But still quit after the import is done before you do anything else to save the import successfully. iPhoto has been such a headache lately. I can't edit a photo without it getting permanently stuck on "saving changes" and now it's crashing for more actions... my library is roughly 28,000 pics and it can be fast sometimes and ...s l o w o t h e r s... frustrating, let me know if you find a more practical solution.

  • Number of photos in library and ATV don't match

Not sure if this is an Apple TV issue, but I use and sync my Apple TV with Aperture and I've chosen to sync my entire library. There are 9 more items in Aperture than on the Apple TV. I have 3 videos in Aperture, that leaves it 6 off, and it's driving me crazy! I looked for other file types, but everything else is JPEG, RAW or TIFF in my Aperture library. Any idea on how to figure this out?

It may well be a tagging or naming issue rather than one of filetype.

  • Number of photos in file

Seems like previous versions of LR (2. and lower) would display the total numer of photos in the the entire file structure beneath the file highlighted.  LR 3.0 and up appears to only display the number of photos in the highest level of the file structure. Currently LR does not indicate the total number of photos in a file in there are sub folders.  Consider the following example: ( I didn't replicate all the "photo" names for the LR 2 file example)
    Folders display:
Lightroom 3.0 and up:                                              LR 2:
         2002 (0)                                                                     2002 ( 78)
              Family (0)                                                                     Family (75)
                   Anthony (20)                                                                     Anthony (20)
                        photoA1.jpeg
                        photoA20.jpeg
                   Chris (25)                                                                           Chris (25)
                        photoC1.jpeg
                        photoC25.jpeg
                   Donna (30)                                                                          Donna (30)
                        PhotoD1.jpeg
                        Phot0D30.jpeg
              Yellowstone (1)                                                            Yellowstone (3)
                        photoY1.jpeg
                        2010-01-16 (2)
                             PhotoZ1.jpeg
                             PhotoZ2.jpeg
I found the old method much more useful in managing the catalog.  Is there a setting that can be adjsuted to restoree the previous method?  Thanks in advance.

In Library Module, choose menu item Library/Show Photos in Subfolders.

  • # of photos in library (not a life-and-death question)

Does the latest version of Aperture keep track of the total number of photos in the library?  If so, where is this displayed?  I think the number used to be there whenever I opened the app to the window displaying all of my projects, but now I don't see it.  I'm using version 3.1.2 with OS 10.6.7.
I found one reference to lost numbers in "Discussions" archives, but the question related to an earlier version of Aperture.  The solution offered was to reinstall the application.  If this is the only fix, can I re-install the latest version of Aperture, or do I have to go back to the original disks, then add the upgrades?
    Thanks in advance

Select "Photos" from the list at the top of the Library tab of the Inspector.  The total number of images shows in the middle of the bottom of the Browser frame (just as Projects View will report the total number of Projects displayed.

  • Whats the sweet spot for the count of Photos per Library?

    1) How many photos should be there in a Library at max. to have iPhoto perform efficiently?
    2) Does the iPhoto Library database performance depend on the size of the photo or the count of photo?
I have a collection of some 7000+ photos of 2.5MB on average.
Should i put all of them in a library or different library?
Also if i have to set up different library i want to have backup of them in a DVD for each library. So, technically my library should not exceed 4.5GB
    Now my confusion is:
If i have say 3GB of original photos in the library then technically i'll have around 3-6GB of photos in both Original and Modified folders.
Going through the forum I have found that there are 2 ways of backing up photos:
    1) Through "Export" to a Folder and writing the folder the a media.
    2) By Copying the Library Folder completely to backup media.
If my assumption is right then,
    1) in case of "Export" method, i'll be having a collection of the total number of photos i have. i.e. if i have 3000 photos then the exported folder will contain 3000 photos.
    2) in case of "Copying" then i'll be copying the OriginalModified+Datadatabase, and i could restore them as a library when needed.
Please let me know if my assumption is right or wrong.
    Thanks,
    Sapam

    1) How many photos should be there in a Library at max. to have iPhoto perform efficiently?
iPhoto is rated to 250,000 pics. After that there is no right answer based on iPhoto. What you need to take into account after that is Hardware. The max for an efficiently perfoming iPhoto will be very different for a Mini with 512MB of RAM and a MacPro with 8 Gigs of RAM. Other factors include the size of the disk and the amount of free space on it.
    2) Does the iPhoto Library database performance depend on the size of the photo or the count of photo?
The count of the photos - and then some. The files are stored in the Finder. So a 1 MB file takes the same amount of space in the iPhoto database as a 10MB file. However, what does impact on the size of the library file are things like the number of albums, books, slideshows etc., Smart albums, in particular, can slow down the app launching. So, it's not just the number of photos but the organisation as well.
So, what's your Hardware and what do you mean by efficiently? I have a 15k image library that's some 40gigs in size on my iMac with 2 gigs of RAM. I'm very happy with it's performance.

    Close.
    Think of it this way:
Want to save the current versions of your pics only? Select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. Export them to a folder on the desktop. Burn that with the finder. Now you have the up-to-date versions of your pics. pop that disk in any computer and there they are.
Want to save your Library - that is Originals, Modifieds, database files etc?
    1. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD or burn it to DVD
    or
    2. Use the Share -> Burn command. This will burn a disc that will mount into another iPhoto, and pics can be dragged to the new iPhoto from it. You can burn your entire library, or break it into albums and burn in groups of albums if your DVD isn't big enough.

  • How can I see the total number of books (size of library) on iBooks on my iMac and IPad Mini?

I have installed iBooks on both my iMac (main library) as well as on my iPad Mini Retina. I can't seem to find where to see the total number of books in each library? Can anyone enlighten me please? I can see the covers, lists etc. but nowhere how many books I have total in each library (Total: X number of books stored) or something like that. Can someone point me where this information is viewable?

Did you have 'find my iPhone' activated on it? Because if you go to iCloud.com you can log in there and you can remotely lock or wipe your device.  From what I hear, the police won't do anything about going and fetching stolen iPads and iPhones, but if you have find my iphone/ipad/ipod/mac turned on then it will give you a map of where it is.
Just keep in mind that sometimes iTunes does ask you for your password regardless, and only a few weeks ago apple brought in security questions, so everyone had to fill in security questions for their iTunes account to make it more secure If all else fails, ring Apple cusomer support and they might be able to bar your account or something, however you may have to make a new account (the might be able to set it up so you have all your previous information on a new account)
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I find total number of songs in my library in the new iTunes 11?

Last version of iTunes showed the total number of songs within the library on the bottom of the screen.  Now that's disappeared and I don't know where to find that piece of info.
    Any suggestions?

    Click View>Show Sidebar
It looks about like the old version.
Or you can simply click your ipod name at the top of your screen and sync as always.
The new version is not that different from the old one

  • I have imported my I photo library into Aperture.  all the old i photo events are now in the aperture library showing number of photos but when clicked none display.  I can see the photos if i run the cursor over the project.  Help please.

I imported my i photo library into aperture.
I can see the i photo events in aperture library as events with the number of photos in each event.
When you click events in the aperture library no photos appear although if you roll the cursor over the event icon it show the photos.  If you click on the event either on the event icon or in the library no photos appear.
    Help

Check, if you have any filters set. The search fields in the Insector panel and the browser should be showing "All items" or "Showing All".
The Browser search field could be set for each project and album individually, so you have to check it for each project.
    Regards
    Léonie
For example: The projects count shows "20 items", but the browser is empty, because the project's filter is set to show only rejected items.

Try de-syncing all of your music to remove it from the device. Then reset the device (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go) and try syncing everything again.
