Total polish over case
Hello,
I have a few questions about polishing the case and I'm hoping someone will be able to field for me:
1.Is the entire MBP case made of alluminum? (the face with the speaker holes and trackpad feels like some kind of plastic)
2.Is there something I should be concerned about before polishing the screen lid, screen frame, speaker and trackpad face, and base? for example, dont use x product or dont polsh x surface
3.Will polishing all the surfaces void warranty in any way?... in theory, its just cleaning it.
4.Would i have to disassemble my entire MBP in the process? if so, i dont think it would be a good idea for me to do so :P
Ive always considered doing this to my MPB and making it unholily shiny and reflective :P. I want to make this dream come true. Please help me in doing so and warn me if this is a terrible idea. It was sparked again when i found a thread where an individual polished the crevace/bar thing under the apple and space bar keys to make it look very reflective.

Personally, all I’ve used in the 15-months I’ve owned my MacBook Pro, is a micro-fiber cloth with drinking water. As for the wrist pad area, well that’s different and here’s my review and recommendation.

I would rate the stick-on protection pad as a solid 5-Mouse (stars) and the Keyboard Cover with only 1-Mouse.”

Great link John, thank you for that. I did follow the instructions to a "T", but the Desktop Admin is still having problems. He is trying to image a new machine (so it is not in the collection yet). When he tries to import it by using the "Import
Computer Information Wizard", he gets to the "Choose Target Collection" tab, selects the "Browse" button, but cannot see any collections. I have verified (using the instructions that Matthew provided - thank you) that he is a "Full Administrator" for
the Desktop collections and folders where they are located.
Could you please tell me what I am missing?

I think you can't just compare these two structure types, as they have a different purpose.
I assume you're about to create an application, so I'd suggest you to study the producer consumer design pattern. There are both of these structures used to separate program-logic and reaction to user-inputs.

Want total control over the size of a button
What do I do if I want to control the size of a button completely and not let something else do it for me automatically? What layoutmanagers allow me to completely control the size and which do not?
For total control over the button size, call container.setLayoutManager(null). This, however, disables all automatic layout; not only will you have control over the size of your button, you'll have control over its position and the size and position of all other components in that container. You'll also have the responsibility to set them.
While this is desirable in some circumstances, you normally want to use a LayoutManager. These managers allow your code to be modified with greater ease and handle a lot of the work for you.
You can always call jbutton.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(x,y));[b] to attempt to communicate to the LayoutManager the size that you would like the button to be. [b]jbutton.setMinimumSize and jbutton.setMaximumSize are also useful. (These calls assume the existence of a field jbutton which contains an instance of the class JButton.)
These, however, only work if the LayoutManager honors your requests; it is quite possible for a LayoutManager to ignore your sizing requests on the objects it is laying out. Most of the managers that Sun provides respect the requests their users make, but many third-party LayoutManagers aren't capable of doing so for one reason or another.
Yet another solution is to write your own LayoutManager. The interface is relatively simple. I personally have been working on a project in which a workspace allows users to move components around. Because of this, the component has to stay where the user put it, although its size should be adjusted according to its needs. I had to write my own LayoutManager for this because none of those that Sun provided properly suited my needs.

SEM BPS - Planning function to distribute total value over months
Hello,
We use SEM BPS. In fact we use the integration of SEM BPS in the CRM opportunity component as opportunity planning.
Now we want to distribute the total value of certain key figures over the months. Either equal distribution or increasing distribution like 1% increase every month. What would be the best way to do that with a planning function?
We need to take into account that the number of months depends on the start and end date of the transaction (opportunity).

I would probably create a fox formula, do a foreach in selection loop over the months and distribute the values within that formula.
If you want to use a standard distribution function, you need to create the reference data somewhere before, which could be a bit difficult if the timeframe changes according to user selections.

like that I need any possibility , Unit converion doing at transforamation level based on the conversion factors
but the base unit of measure and Alternate unit of measures are different orders are having different units , so it should be added.

Totally upset over my preorder for the iPhone5
I've been a customer of VZW for well over 12 years and I've gotten upset before but nothing like I am right now. I feel I have been lied to and mislead. Actually I am thinking seriously of taking my business to another carrier.
I pre-ordered the new iPhone 5 on the 14th and was told that my order would go out in the first mailing of phones. My confirmation letter says Deliver By: 09/28/2012. I was assured by the girl that took my order that I would get my phone most likely sooner than the expected delivery date. Last week when I checked and could not retrieve any info on my order I called and was told by the rep at that time that the order would be shipped on the 20th or the 21st and then I should be able to check my order when a tracking number would be issued. I accepted that, I was not happy, but I accepted it. This morning I checked and there is still no info on my order so I called again. This time I was told that the 28th was a ship by date. I said "No" it plainly says Deliver By: 08/28/2012. She argued with me acting like I couldn't read what was right in front of me which made me more angry. Much arguing and discussing back and forth ensued. I demanded to speak with a supervisor & she told me they could not help me anymore than she could. I told her that if half the people who pre-ordered that new phone were as angry as I was then Verizon would be in big trouble! Because after all the years of being a loyal customer I was ready to cancel my phone service and go to another carrier. I again told her I wanted a supervisor and this time she connected me someone else. ( Probably the girl sitting next to her.) This person spent a lot of time, in my opinion, talking in circles to me trying to calm me down. She ended with a promise that they would do further checking and would call me back by Wednesday. Time will tell whether that promise will be one more that is broken.
Bottom Line:
If I could not get my phone delivered to me as promised then why did the first rep I spoke with not tell me I might be better off to go to the store and purchase my phone either at the Verizon store or at the Apple store? She was well aware that my present phone was not reliable. She knew that time was an important factor to me.
Why tell me that I would be among the first to receive my pre-ordered phone?
Why tell me when I called to check on my order that my order would be shipped on the 20th or the 21st?
Why does my order confirmation letter give a Deliver By date if is a possible Mail By date?
Anybody else get this same or similar spiel?I understand that you are upset by the incorrect information provided to you verbally by CS when you called in about your order. That is understandable and seems to happen a lot since the CS reps are not kept in the loop about things (it appears) with VZW...and take the brunt of angry customers simply because they are the front line. What makes your argument a little less understandable (aside from being upset about poorly informed CS reps) is the fact that you admit your confirmation letter states 9/28 (which that date has not passed yet....and despite the ill information received verbally, your written confirmation is clearly stated and has yet to be incorrect information for you). You said you are upset about your pre-order when it appears you are upset about incorrect and conflicting verbal information. You apparently pre-ordered later in the day than the 1st batch people did. You knew based on written information that you were not supposed to be a part of the 1st batch and choose to ignore what your written information states because the verbal information gave you a more favorable outcome. Call and complain about the poor CS. That would be accurate. But in no way were you mistreated in the actual pre-order UNLESS the date passes and no information is provided. Being a loyal customer does not mean that verbal info trumps written info...nor does it mean that you should get your iPhone earlier than your confirmation states. You are well aware that the demand for this phone was and continues to be through the roof. If you choose to switch to another carrier but still want to get the iPhone 5 then be prepared for a far longer wait than 9/28 to receive it. It's something worth considering. Overall, understand that chances are you will encounter equal amounts of poor information via CS across the board with the various carriers....especially during high demand product launches. I'm sure there are current VZW customers that ordered the iPhone 5 with far later delivery dates than yourself that would love to be in your position.

How do you take total control over serialization???
Please read this whole post before answering because Ive asked this question twice and people keep telling me things I already know.
ok I posted this b4 and people dont seem to get it so Ill explain everything i know about serialization. To serialize an object you call the writeObject(Object o) from the ObjectOutputStream class. The Object must inherit Serializable (an empty interface). I read in a java book I have that if you put a method with the signature: "private void writeObject(ObjectOutputStream out) throws IOException" into your Serializable class, ObjectOutputStream will call this instead of using its default serialization method. However, when I did this, I started by making my writeObject method empty. Even with it empty I got errors about fields in my class not being Serializable. According to the book however, it should be trying to Serialize them right? So Im guessing that its doing both the default Serialization process and my method (or maybe not even my method). Can someone please tell me how to do this correctly??idk I didnt implements externalizable because I dont wanna complicate this nemore I just wanna find out why it wont work. I cant post my code because its huge. But basically, I have a JTabbedPane subclass with a Vector of SetPanes in it. SetPane has a field parent which is of type Experiment (the tabbedpane). When I try to Serialize the Experiment, I first got errors because I had JMenu's in my SetPane. to fix this I tried a custom serialization. didnt work. So then I did wat you said, called the function directly. that worked as far as I know (except I had to lose the parent field cause it was recursive). It worked until I had to deserialize it. There is no way to "call the function directly" when your deserializing so I got totally lost. Thats why Im trying to figure out how to use custom serialization the way my book tells me but it wont work!!!

Total control over component placement?

I've been messing around for a while with applets and got to something quite decent i think, it's a paint program that mimics the program "paint" from windows, without a few of the more advanced functions.
Anyways, i wanted to make myself a small program to help me code on some other programming projects, it's a simple program where you pick a file to write to and it writes in a certain format. But i've been trying to get full control over where i place my components, and no matter what i use (setBounds, setLocation, setSize) they just seem to be drawn one after the other and placed "randomly".
I made a frame and a content panel wich i used setContentPane on, but i still can't place my elements like i want to...
Can someone point me to a site that explains the whole layout system, or just explain to me how i need to set up my window frame + panel so that i can freely move components on it?Here is the tutorial for using LayoutManagers:

You generally shouldn't try to set the position and size of components manually. It's usually much better to use a LayoutManager. If you really need to, here's how:

i am frustrated and mad that someone made purchases using my itunes account and somehow my credit card was added to my account as well. i didn't even add it myself. what can i do to get my money back thats all i want.
They show on your account's purchase history e.g. they aren't phishing emails ? If you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases.

How to get total,maximum,mimumum no. of cases for this report
Description: Reason For Contact For Customer - This report will provide the total number of cases created for a particular Reason For Contact for a particular Customer with a valid Business Code. This report will also provide the Maximum, Minimum and Average number of cases created for a particular Reason For Contact for that particular type of Customer. This report will take From Date, To Date, Agent Group and Business Code as inputs and generates the report on the screen. All the input criteria will be mandatory.

NOTE :1) FOR TOTAL,WE HAVE COUNT NUMBER OF CASES CREATED for a particular Reason For Contact for a particular Customer with a valid Business Code

for getting maximum,minimum,average , i have to check the C_cust_type For that Business code ,after that I have to take all the business codes for that C_Cust_Type and with in the business codes ,i have to take the maximum number of cases which business code have for that particular Reason for contact For that particular customer type.

Maximum =4 since, for reason for contact(delivery timing) for that customer type(customer type =1),the maximum no. of cases are 4 bcz, business code = 0310 comes 4 times.
Minimum =2 bcz, business code = 0306 comes 2 times.
The Problems i am facing
1) Since i have taken the input criteria Business code = 'f0106' ,the data filters in the where condition and the getting the number of cases exist for that business code(f0106) for that Contact of Reason data only.But i have to take all the business code exists for that Particular type of customer for that Particular reason for contact for getting the max,min,avg.
I can't handle max,min,avg in one report since it checks total cases for that Business code only.
SO,I THINK I HAVE TO INVOKE A SUBREPORT PASSING THE C_CUST_TYPE,iSN'T IT????
2) iF I TAKE THESE THINGS IN SUB REPORT,HOW CAN I find out the maximum number of case with in the business codes for reason for contact for that particular customer type.
CONSIDER THE ABOVE EXAMPLES, I AM GETTING 3 CASES FOR CODE = 0306 N 2 RECORDS FOR CODE= 0310 ,hOW CAN I GET mAXIMUM cASES ie 3 BY COMPARING THESE TWO CODES FOR THE DELIVERY TIMING . IS THERE ANY FUNCTION??????

The most efficient way to acheive what you want will be to create a stored procedure or command object in which you have a subquery that calculate your maximum, minimum and average values.
If you are looking at a solution within Crystal Reports without having to write a SQL Query, then as you said, you can use a subreport that will returns the cases created for a particular Reason For Contact for that particular type of Customer.
( You will need to link the subreport to filter the data down )
Then you can calculate the minimum values in the subreport by using the Minimum function and manually counting the values in a variable, the formula will look like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared NumberVar MyMinimum;
If Minimum({Business Code}) = {Business Code} Then
MyMinimum := MyMinimum + 1;
Insert the formula in the details section of the subreport.
This will count the number of time the minimum Business Code appears in the subreport.
You can create a similar formula for the maximum values by using the Maximum function.
As for the average, you can create a summary that counts the number of of Business Code, divided by the distinct count of Business Code, so it will give you the average. The formula will look like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared NumberVar MyAverage;
MyAverage :=
( If DistinctCount({Business Code}) <> 0 Then
Count({Business Code}) / DistinctCount({Business Code}))
Then you can display the above shared variables on your main report.

Total Result is not working properly in QA
Hi,
We have requirement to show Total No. of Employees with respect to Age Band and Total No. of Employees in the entire Organization.
We developed the reports as per the requirement to show employees in the age band <20 Years/ 21-30 Years/31-40 Years and so on by restricting No. of Employees with the dimension AGE.
<20 Years----21-30 Years-31-40 Years----->50 Years
0.00 -
754.00-- 425.00--
120.00
The query working properly in DEV, but not in QA.
This is the case with another report also, were we executing to check Total No. of Employees without any restrictions.
But, when i drill down the report with Org. Unit, it is displaying No. of Employees corresponding to each Org. Unit, but not the total Employees (Overal Result) with all the Org. Units.
We checked all the properties with respect to info objects and as well as query properties, but no luck.
Please provide any valuable suggestions.

How to calculate a percentage of a Running Total?

Hi folks, Quite new here to the forum and to Crystal Report. As you can tell, I've already stumbled upon a roadblock. Here is what I'm trying to do:I am grabbing employee names and the number of cases that they are working via a sql query. So the sql query will result in something like 'Bob', '403'; Bob being the employee and 403 being the number of cases he's working on. In the report, I have a running total that sums up the total number of cases. I want to determine the ratio of Bob's(and every other employee's) cases over the running total amount of cases. So, for demo purposes, Bob has 403 cases and the total amount of cases is 1612, Bob's ratio would be 25%(403/1612). The equation that I am using right now is: /{#RTotal})*100 and it is not working. The ratio starts at 100%(effectively because the running total after the first record is equal to his/her cases) and then drops off dramatically. I know why it is doing that, just don't want those results. I tried using the EvaluateAfter function to no avail. Is this possible? If so, how? Many thanks in advance.Post Author: rroberson

Sounds to me like you don't need to use a running total. Just group on name (bob) and do a normal total (not running total) for the group (group summary). You can just divide that group summary total by the grand total (another crystal summary) and mult by 100. -
IPod-like polycarbonite case protection for iBook
My iBook has picked up quite a few small (and some not so small) scratches over the last year I've had it.
Rather than polishing it, repolishing it, and plishing it again as time and use once more scratch it, I saw somewhere online an iPod like accessory for the iBook that would protect the case and while it may scratch eventually, the iBook would be protected and remain pristeen.
This was a clear two piece polycarbonate shell. One piece fit over the top half of the iBook, and the other fit over the bottom half. Both parts fit over the white top and bottom of the case, not the screen or keyboard. This would seem to be the perfect solution. Polish the case once, put the protector shell on, and forget it.
However, I cannot seem to find, even with google, the reference I saw to this.
Does anyone recall any accessory like this? I'd be gratefull.

Something to keep it from getting scratched again.

I suspect you'll also have to decide what you want to do with

followed by
GPSTime 2010-05-14 00:00:01.0
Do you still need to calculate the difference? And if so, which "date" does it go in, or is it split?
Your logic seems incredibly convoluted for such a simple task. What exactly are you trying to do?
