Total System lockup during live show production (twice)

This may be too specific but here goes. I do my podcast live every Sunday night on Ustream, and every week it runs fine. Last Sunday and this Sunday I had a complete system lock up in the middle of the show. I thought it might be temperature, but I watched it carefully this week and had two cooling mechanisms so I don't think it was that.
I run Camtwist to pipe my desktop and picture in picture from my iSight on my Cinema Display. I run Audio Hijack Pro to pipe the audio to Soundflower from my Heil mic (via a USB interface) and from GarageBand where I'm recording. Feeder is what I'm reading my shownotes from and I've got Safari running to push everything to Ustream. Finally I've got Colloquy running to participate in the live chat. I know, a lot of balls in the air for me AND my Macbook Pro, right?
MBP is running Snow Leopard and is a 2.53GHz core 2 duo with 4GB of RAM, plenty of hard disk available.
After the lockup I rebooted and pulled the console logs right away. So what should I be looking for? I can see right where it died last week (6 minute gap in the logs) and the end of the logs for this week. I don't see anything that says "your system crashed because..."
The audience has been tolerant of my disappearing act but it's gonna get old soon!

Have to point out that you should work hard to be sure all 3rd party apps AND plug-ins are fully Snow Leopard compatible...and yes, that's quite a load for a laptop.
Try resetting some of the hardware involved (PRAM~NVRAM). See this Apple KB for details, etc.:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Can't hurt to try, and apparently this has helped others recently.
As well, have you done due diligence on the basics.... confirm sufficient free space on the HD; validate disk health via DiskFirst Aid, never install SL from downloaded torrents/betas, etc. Let Spotlight finish indexing; clear out old cache files and outdated/broken/duplicate fonts; find and delete related plists.
And again, be aware that laptops are typically resource constrained - streaming as an example can tax the hardware and software. If you have large demands you might want to consider a desktop system.
Also, the general approach at this time is to ask if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
If issues continue, you may consider walking that portable in to the nearest Apple store and asking for opinions from the staff.
Good luck in any case.

  • How can I diagnose a total system lockup?

When I run chromium and a game (Dota 2 or CS:GO) simultaneously, my system sometimes completely freezes, and I am unable to do anything including switch to a different tty. I can usually run these at the same time, and my memory usage is about 55%. However, sometimes, the lockup occurs and the disk led goes crazy. How would I go about diagnosing this problem? Which logs should I check?  Thanks!

    Have a look at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=190669 and https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=190247.
You could run "dstat -cdnmgs --top-io --top-bio --top-cpu --top-mem" and try to catch its output before the freeze.

  • Total system lockup

I'm somewhat new to arch, but not to linux and recently my system has been locking up and freezing.  It takes a hard restart to get it back, Ctrl+Alt+Delete does nothing, Caps Lock does nothing.  I can't seem to find a pattern between when it crashes, it has crashed once while I was using it, but usually seems to be when I am away.  I'm using 64 bit linux and my system is up to date.  I've got an nVidia card and using their drivers, I am also using compiz-fusion.  I've seen this happen when using KDE and Gnome.  The only clue I've got atm is a bit from the everything.log that seems to happen each time it crashes.  Also, I have opera, azureus running more or less constantly I don't think any other programs have been running each time.

Everything else in the log is 10 or more minutes before or from when I rebooted.  The opera error seems to be in all of them so perhaps it is related to that?
Let me know what other information I should post.

Sorry, when I said Ctrl+Alt+Delete I meant Backspace, it does nothing and I can't get into a virtual terminal either.  I will try to ssh in the next time it happens, though I usually find when the capslock button won't even light up the light on my keyboard things are pretty dead.
I've got a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor, Nvidia GeForce 9500GT video card, also have a hauppauge HVR-1800 card I haven't got to work yet (College doesn't have digital cable and the drivers only support digital cable atm).
Also the freezes seem to have been increasing in frequency, and the one last night had some different errors with it.

  • Lockup during POST

    Hello,
    Can you help me ?
My customer has a Dell Optplex GX240 with 128mb and processor P4 1.7ghz. The motherboard has a chipset Intell 845. After to install a PCI GPIB Card NI 488.2, the system lockup during POST and appears follow message "i/o card parity interrupt at f000:db47".
We have tested in all slots, but the problem persist.
How can we solve that problem ?
    Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like the board is bad.
Have you done anything to prove otherwise?

  • Presenter View During Live Events In Show and Share

    Hi,
I am a bit confused about the user authorisation during live events of Show and Share. There is a user who is creating the event and publishing it. I think this user should be the moderator. He can see the questions tab and check the questions coming from the other participants and send them to the presenter view tab.
I have found some information about the moderator and presenter in the user guide for show and share but I could not find out which user can be a presenter, or are the presenter and the moderator the same user or not.
    Below is from user guide:
The live event moderator pre-screens these incoming questions and comments as they arrive. Moderators can:
    • Move any high-priority questions to the Presenter’s View tab. • Move any low-priority questions to the Removed Questions tab, either manually or automatically by keyword. • Use keyword filters to see and manage only the messages that match those keywords.
. The presenter then responds to any number of these pre-screened questions and comments. (These are messages that the moderator moved to the Presenter’s View tab.)
From the above information, it seems that there are seperate presenter and moderator, but is there a way to assign a user other than moderator only the presenter rights?

Great question, Ken!  I too would like to know if there is a way to transfer video content management to an other author.  In the case that a user publishes content and later leaves the company, retaining control of the published material is a requirement.

  • Total system crash caused by/during FF 6.0.1 update

Here on rock stable Windows 7 64bit SP1 (Dutch).
At 19:00 hrs (local time) today I was surfing normally when suddenly my mouse-pointer froze. Duration was a few seconds and then suddenly a complete black screen. No matter what I did, nothing happened. Only a message from my monitor that there was no signal. My PC was still on but no HDD activity or whatever. Had to do a hardware reset (first time since I have Windows 7).
After a restart in Safe Mode (just to be sure), I did normal restart and all was fine again but still no clue on what happened.
Did check log files and did see that at the moment of the crash FF had been updated to 6.0.1. And sure enough, when I started FF, I got the screen with info on the new build.
All is fine now, was just the 1 crash. Somehow the update caused a total system crash.

Looks like its been fixed for me, not by 6.0.1 but by - Todd Siechen from http://www.dvdthemepak.com
    Check out his post at:

    Todd... I love you xxx
After having a nightmare since first day of version 6.0.0 and still no fix after 6.0.1, even after Apple requested the files... You fixed my problem... Checked for duplicate fonts and found about 5, selected "Resolve Duplicates" and everything great, even with old projects... You should work for Apple!
    Check out the 2 posts:

    1) The first and biggest culprit we found to be causing problems is with font issues. In order to alleviate this problem, open Font Book and make sure all the Fonts that are turned on have no dots next to them. If they do then select them and select "Resolve Duplicates" from the Edit menu. If you are using a different font manager then use whatever tool is available to make sure no duplicate fonts are loaded. iDVD 6 is very sensitive to this.

  • Problem During Creation of Production Order

    Dear Sirs
Hope you all are well. I am facing a problem in PPDM during creation of Production Order which is that when I try to release the order System shows me material availability error for BOM items but when I check those material in MMBE(stock overview )all materials are available in UN-restricted use stock. I am facing this problem and not able to resolve it please help me out in it.
    Thanks

    Dear
Did you maintain Work Schedulimng View of the Material ??
Did you maintain any Production Storage Loaction in MRP2 view and same is appearing in Goods Movement Tab in CO11N screen with Movement Type 101 ??
Did you maintain the Operation Control Key -pp03  which should have Auto GR check box marked in OP00 ?? Goto Operation Control key -Detail information -Check whther Auto GR is marked or not ??
If you are using Serrial Number Profile and Serial Number , then Auto GR is not possible .Make sure that you are not haveing functionality because it does not support Auto GR fro serialised material and need to do it through MIGO/MB31/MB1C.
Make sure that you have used PP03-Control key only at last operation not all the operations. You need to maintain PP03 at Routing level and call the function by Read PP Master data  at production order level   (co02-function read pp master data )

Hi, we purchased a Qlogic HBA from Sun to put into a V440 to use storage on a HP EVA 3000 SAN. • The user name or password is incorrect in the CRM system checks during installation

    Hi everyone
    I'm installing CRM 2013 on 2 servers (server 2012) - CRM Full server + SQL Server 2012.
I created 2 service accounts for this - CRMSVC + CRMSANDBOX (one for sandbox and another one for all the rest).
I'm getting the following error in the system checks during setup:
I've verified a billion times that the service accounts and passwords are valid - I even tried using different service accounts - same problem. As for now I also added the service accounts to the local admins groups just to be sure that it's not some permissions
issue (I also added them to the 'log on as service' & performance logs groups).
If i try to use NETWORK SERVICES instead of a service account - the installation goes through flawlessly - no issues at all.
I'm also gonna say that i tried another installation on a fresh server - SAME ISSUE.
So for now my ideas are either it's a GPO somehow blocking the service accounts - or some kind of other security issue.
I also found out that the security event log shows these two errors when these show up in the system checks:
Inside i found 'NULL SID' entry - it does not recognize the service accounts account and 0xC0000064 in the Sub
    Status Codes
It's not a typo issue so don't bother - if i write a wrong password in purpose - it actually says that the password i typed for domain\service account is incorrect - here it seems that the service account is not being recognized.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks

Not sure you understood my point.
The installation process necessarily runs under the account of the installing user. The installation will query AD to identify information about the service accounts, and will add them to the relevant CRM AD groups. It is possible that the installing user
account does not have sufficient privileges on the AD objects for the service accounts to be able to identify them, and to add them to groups. This scenario is consistent with the errors that you get, and also with being able to install CRM to run under NetworkServices
(which doesn't have its own AD object)

    Hi David
I understand this, but as far as i know running it under NETWORK SERVICES will add the machine names to the OU security groups - hence the user installing still needs to have delegated permissions on that OU. Anyway as mentioned above - ignoring the checks
and running the installation solved this and also added the accounts to the security groups - so this whole mess looks like some bug to me - not sure i will ever find out what it was :)

  • Two complete live shows on a single DVD+R double layer disc

    Hello!
I am a new customer of Adobe's and have gone from Sonic MyDVD v6.1 to v9.0, then to Adobe Premiere Element 3.0 last month, and finally to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 with Adobe Encore CS3 a few days ago with the digital downloads. Absolutely no problems downloading 3.5GB of files, which is unheard of for my computer and no problems whatsoever with serial numbers for the downloads either.
Fortunately for me, all of my problems have been stemming from being inexperienced with Premiere Pro and the online tutorials and help from Forum users have been fantastic! Well, with the exception of the "Desktop Display Mode has been reset because the video card returned an error" error message that seems to keep cropping up and causing my video to look unrendered, despite it all now being rendered, I am at a crossroads of what to do here.
Two years ago, I videotaped one of my favorite local bands performing an outdoor live show in the afternoon and then videotaped them performing at a club the same night. Now I am trying to re-make the same DVD that I made for them using Sonic MyDVD 6.1, because they want to sell it now, but this time on a double-layer disc for better quality (plus I upgraded my crap NEC DVD burner that came with my Dell computer to an LG GSA-H10L since then, which works great and doesn't make error-prone DVDs) and also remove some bonus materials that they thought would only be of interest to them and took up too much space. The only problem is that I deleted all of my original source files because they were taking up too much space and I couldn't save a 10MB file anywhere else. In hindsight, I probably could have split it up into smaller pieces, but that's not the issue now.
When I bought Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0, I remember reading something that said to put two complete video files on the same timeline and just add Main Menu markers and End Point markers to allow the program to auto-populate the chosen DVD template. So I did that, but I hated the templates and there was very little control over anything. Sonic MyDVD at least gave me the option to center the button text. In the end, I upgraded to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.
Now I have completed editing the timeline and am happy with everything, but now I see there are no Main Menu markers or End Point markers. Can I still make a decent DVD with two main menu motion buttons that each have Play and Scene Selections options below them with everything on the same timeline/sequence, or do I need to create a new sequence and copy everything from part two of my original timeline to the new sequence? Is there a preferred method?
I didn't see this covered in any of the tutorials, help files, forums, or the downloadable manual that I also purchased. Maybe I missed it, but can anyone offer any insight on this?
    Thank you!
    Matt

Yes, I have Encore installed and did a 4-hour first pass to Export to Encore last night, but it failed about 2 hours in when my Zone Alarm pop-up came up saying it was trying to access the Internet and I was away from my computer for 15 minutes while it was up. Then I restarted it at 11pm and it ran until 3am, when I was hoping to go to bed, but then it began its second pass. Grr! I can't remember if I went to bed at this point and found this when I woke up, or if I was staying up watching its second pass to see if it would go any quicker than the first time, but when it completed, I received this pop-up message:
"The instruction at 0x11ce445a referenced memory at 0x11d00000. The memory could not be written."
When I clicked OK, Adobe Encore shut down.
I'm guessing that if I started with two .AVI files totaling 19.4GB, I should have ended up with something larger than a 3.8GB .M2V file, an 82MB .M2V.XMPSES file, a 936MB .WAV file, and a 3KB .XMP file when this was done rendering. At this point, I don't know what to do with the resulting files or if they are incomplete.
Anyhow, after all that, my main question in my original post was this:
"Can I still make a decent DVD with two main menu motion buttons that each have Play and Scene Selections options below them with everything on the same timeline/sequence, or do I need to create a new sequence and copy everything from part two of my original timeline to the new sequence? Is there a preferred method?"
    Thanks!
    Matt

Need detail information, steps would be nicer,  to upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 to setup in test system first then try on production, since not much room for downtime, thanks bekir

    Hi,
Overview of the upgrade progress from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 including the following steps:
Installing Exchange 2010 within your organization on new hardware.
    Configuring Exchange 2010 Client Access.
Creating a set of legacy host names and associating those host names with your Exchange 2003 infrastructure.
Obtaining a digital certificate with the names you'll be using during the coexistence period and installing it on your Exchange 2010 Client Access server.
Associating the host name you currently use for your Exchange 2003 infrastructure with your newly installed Exchange 2010 infrastructure.
Moving mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
    Decommissioning your Exchange 2003 infrastructure.

  • Procurement Key 'F' - System will allow to create production order

    Dear All,
    Pls help solve below issue
Sub-assembly (HALB) material type with Procurement Key is 'F' - but System will allow to create production order, our management don't want to allow this. how to activate the error messges
I checked the system messages CO 046, 047, 048 - it will not help for these messages
Any way to control this (except user exit, badi)
    Regards,
    Sankaran

    Hi Sankaran,
What I infer from your statement is that user is able to convert planned order into Production Order (MD04 or CO040). You want to issue a warning message during this converion.
You can configure warning messages through OPJB.
Whether this material with procurement type F was setup initially with a different setup? Please check whether any routing details exist for this material and also check whether there is any special procurement indicator. One more check is with your MRP Group settings.
    Hope this helps.
    With Best Regards,
    Srinivas
