Totally bizarre Hub3 problem

I got Infinity installed last week. I already had a Hub 3 (type a) so the engineer used it for the install.
I had some issues with speed drops and line noise so an engineer rewired my master socket yesterday.
All was well.
I had been using my type a hub 3 without issue. But I had heard that type b were better wireless throughput (and possibly better range?)
So last night I thought I would try the new Hub3 (type b) supplied with infinity. I connected it up (pc via ethernet cable) in a matter of 2 minutes and it connected to the OR modem without problem - all blue lights were on.
But the odd thing was ... when I tried to go to websites 95% of websites failed to load - only two worked (my bank and play.com) - everything else failed to respond.
Most odd
I tried
* Rebooting Hub
* Factory Reset
* reboot PC
* different pc (laptop - also via ethernet)
* even tried rebooting OR Modem
* I check that DNS was working - dns resolved names to ip address on a ping
* I disabled firewall on PC
* I tried static private IP address and also DHCP
All of the above failed - so I swapped back to the type A model and everying was working again.
My conclusion is that I had a faulty type b hub3  and have asked for a replacement.
Anyone else hear of such weirdness ?

Update on this - I have since recieved 2 replacement hub3 type b. All 3 (typeb) exhibit the same behaviour.
They work fine via wireless but not over ethernet. Over ethernet only certain websites load (play.com, waterstones etc)
Ive flushed dns, rebooted pc,hub,or modem tried 2 different pcs tried different cables. All with the same issue.
Still works ok with hub 3(a) so could it be an incompatibility with the OR modem  but its bizarre than wireless works???
Has anyone else out there got and ECI OR modem, hub 3b and ethernet connnection and its working ok ?

  • Totally bizarre XDCAM HD + FCP import question

    I have filmed 40+ discs on XDCAM HD 50GB discs at 50MBs. These were then logged and captured using Sony's XDCAM pluggin for Final Cut Pro 6.5.
    When the project file was taken on the drive with all the media etc and plugged into a macPro pro (2 x 2.26Ghz quad core 8GB ram) the project file could not see 1052 of the media files and asked to reconnect them. Something I didn't want to have to do for each file!
    I then shot another job using XDCAM HD but this time at 35mbs per
    second and on 23GB disks. Again it was logged on site using the laptop and again the desktop failed to recognise the
    media for 626 out of 2685 shots.
    I have updated the desktop to FCP 7.0.1. and it still doesn't see
    them. I tried my friend’s desktop and it can't see these files either.
    The files that can't be seen are in the lower part of the browser
    which is in alphabetical rather than disc order (i.e. imported at totally random times). However there is
    also a bin full of shots from just one disc at the bottom of the
    browser and none of those files can be seen either.
    When the projects are returned to the laptop that logged and captured them – it can see everything.
    Not sure what to do
    Does FCP have a limit on the number of files associated with a project? Or a reason why it would fail to see such a large number of files?
    I am truly in the dark on this.
    Any suggestions gratefully received.
    Jasper

    I haven’t responded in a while but I haven’t been lazy on this as I’ve been trying out a range of options.
    Firstly I have tried the projects on another high spec Desktop and it refused to link the last third (roughly) of media as before.
    Reconnecting the media files also doesn’t work.
    You can find them using ‘Locate’ or ‘search’ but then once you click on the file it doesn’t appear in the ‘Files Located’ box below as it should it just disappears from the list of files to be found.
    Is it a memory problem?
    Clearly it is a large project and sometimes FCP can’t play the files it is showing in the browser because it is out of memory.
    But I have a DVCPRO HD project that is 3 times as big at 1.5 TB which opens and plays perfectly well.
    It also fails to see the files even if they have been put away in lots of separate bins.
    Which brings us back to the original bizarre point of the question.
    Why does it open and play OK on a laptop with less memory and less processing speed?
    And why is it not connecting the final third of the media?
    And why does this group of 1051 to 1061 unconnected/offline files change according to how they are arranged in the browser i.e. final third alphabetically or final third in reel order etc etc.
    Please can anyone suggest any other avenues for me to try … it is driving me crazy.
    Cheers
    Jasper

  • Bizarre bootdisk 'problem'

    Hi all,
    I'm having a bizarre puzzling 'issue' concerning one of my boot hard drives, and I was just wondering if I should be concerned or not.
    So recently I reformatted my Bootcamp drive (no need of Windows anymore) with the intent of cloning another start-up disk on it, so that I could reformat the latter from a two partition scheme to a single empty one for data-backup purposes. The HFS+ disk to be cloned was called 'あかり' and I reformatted the Bootcamp drive to HFS+ using a GUID partition table but also named it 'あかり'. Then I wanted to clone the former on the latter using a Carbon Copy Cloner bit-level clone procedure.
    However, since both drives were called 'あかり' at this point it was impossible to discern in CCC which was the one to be cloned and which was the clone-to-be . So I temporarily renamed the destination drive '茸' using the Finder. Cloning then proceeded smoothly, after which I renamed the '茸'
    drive back to 'あかり' in the Finder and reformatted the other drive to an empty HFS+ drive named '綾子'.
    So now the strange behaviour I am seeing is the following: although the freshly cloned drive is seen as 'あかり' everywhere (Disk Utlity, Finder, Startup Disk chooser, ...) and boots just fine, whenever I reboot and hold alt to choose my start-up drive it appears as '茸' in the grey selection screen instead of ’あかり'. I also tried a full cold boot, but to no avail. Again, it does not seem to interfere with the booting or functioning of the clone but it leaves me a bit puzzled (and slightly worried it might perhaps lead to problems down the road).
    So is there anybody who might have an idea why this happens (and if it will potentially cause issues later on)?
    Thx in advance!

    Here is the one thing we've found that seems to be a workaround.
    If you are getting this strange error:
    1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type mypackage:MyClass to an unrelated type Object.
    then try removing the offending bit of code that it's complaining about. Recompile. If there are other ones like this, remove them as well, and repeat until you get a successful build.
    Once you have built successfully, put back the code that you deleted, and recompile. You won't see the erroneous compiler error after this. If you quit FlexBuilder and restart, you may have to go through all of that nonsense again, so try to keep FB running once you've done those steps above.

  • Total Inventory Line Problem...Help Please

    I am creating a Inventory Program for my Java class. I have gotten all of the program to pull to the GUI I created but one. For some reason my total inventory calculation will not pull to the GUI. Can anyone help me find the problem within my code. Here is both the main program and my buttonframe. If the other two parts are needed just let me know. It will all compile, just the label were the total inventory goes is still at zero it will not put the number in the box. I will be forever grateful for any help or tips in fixing the problem. Thanks

    I am sorry guys,
    When I run the program all labels are in place and data appears where it is suppose to be...but the total inventory line. The label for the total inventory is there, but where the data is suppose to be all it will put there is 0.0. It will not put in the dollar amount. I know the problem is with the GUI, because before I started with the buttonFrame and it was compiled it would give me me the dollar amount for the Total Inventory. Here is the rest of the code.

  • Bizarre networking problem with multiple 8.1 GA systems -- RT and Pro

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having a particularly bizarre problem with the networking on two Windows 8.1 machines, one running Pro and one running RT. Both demonstrate the same behavior.
    In both cases, networking (wireless most of the time, although I'm not sure it matters) works fine for some period of time. Eventually it just stops working. Resetting the adapter, or flipping in and out of Airplane mode will bring it back again. The issues
    happen on at least 3 wireless access points.  In most cases, the networking actually appears to be up -- the limited access warning icon isn't up, although occasionally it does realize the networking isn't working.
    Here's the bizarre part -- on both systems, local IP connectivity is fine. I can communicate perfectly well between devices on the same internal network, wired or wifi. During the time the networking isn't working on one or the other 8.1 system, other systems
    on the network running Windows 8 (and other systems) work fine. There's no correlation between one 8.1 system stopping working and the other.
    On *both* systems, when the networking appears to be failing, a traceroute actually gets 4-5 (or more) hops before going out to lunch. Other systems on the same internal network will cruise along to the same point on the route that is failing on the 8.1
    machines and keep right on happily continuing the trace.
    So that's the bizarre thing -- something on two 8.1 machines is doing *something* to the packets that is causing them to not route properly to a target system 10-15 hops away, the same routers handling the same kind of traffic from other systems behind my
    firewall work fine, and whatever is happening to the packets that is causing issues resolves itself for some period of time if I reset the adapter.  (The two systems are a MacBook Air and a Surface RT, so there's no drivers in common between them, either.)
    I'm completely at a loss. Anyone see anything like this before, or have any thoughts on what to check?
    (And, please, if you're one of those Microsoft support forum people who skim questions for keywords and cut-n-paste back a generic reply without any actual understanding of the problem -- like so many replies on here -- please do not waste my time. I am
    trying to find someone who knows Windows 8.1 networking, not someone who knows just enough English to use ctrl-c/ctrl-v)

    Hi George,
    There is a known issue about Cisco device. It caused some windows 8 clients disconnected from wifi. I understand your windows 8 clients works fine, when the issue occurred on windows 8.1 clients. However, I think the KB article is worth a shot

  • Net Price vs Total Price (Rounding Problem)

    Hi experts,
    SRM 7.0 PPS Extended Classic scenario.
    Users want to create a SC with a known total price (lets suppose 150k). As I have to split this value into net price and tax amount (supposing a tax rate equal to 16%):
       - If I enter 129.310,34 as net value then total value is 149.999,99
       - If I enter 129.310.35 as net value then total value is 150.000,01
    So there is no way to achieve a total value equal to 150.000,00 (no more no less)
    How can we handle this situation? Is it possible to directly enter gross prices instead of net prices at item level?
    I am afraid that similar problem will be present when dealing with all other SRM documents...
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions
    Best regards
    Vicente

    Thanks Rahul,
    This explains why I cannot select 2 decimal places for EUR. In fact, EUR is already pre-set to have 2 decimal places.
    But the original problem of rounding is still open
    Customer is used to manage prices as a whole (total price). They do not need tax details. Taxes are implicitily included in their total price, but they don't need to split into net price*quantity + tax rate.
    Basically they have a budget of nnnnn.dd EUR for some requisition. So they need to see exactly nnnnn.dd EUR in the total price.
    As they have to split into net price and tax rate to fill in the shopping cart items, they will almost never get exactly the desired total (due to rounding). This is not acceptable by business cause they work with the total price and they need the total price to be exactly what they want...
    I guess that bidders will have the same problem when entering prices in bid responses (actually, surrogate bidding is being always used, so for sure customer will have the same problem).
    I am sure that there should be some kind of solution. For instance, I am thinking of using 0.0 as tax rate and hide tax rate field, but I don't like this at all (they don't need tax details, but it doesn't mean that there is no taxes...)
    All suggestions are welcome
    Thanks again

  • Total Java compiler problem confusion

    I am seeking some help and advice from those of you who use Java either as their first choice language or use it most of the time.
    I am using Microsoft Visual J++ 6.0 after being given it free. I have also just done a Java programming home course. I can program in C++ so the learning curve was not too steep. I currently use Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 for my C++ programming. This is why I am keen to use the MS Java program because the setup is very similiar and I like using it.
    My problem comes into play when after completing the course I now try and type in the programs and compile them. They do not work, in fact I have had to make changes to the program to get it to work.
    Now have I been taught incorrectly how to program in Java or is it simply the MS Java program which is not setup correctly? I have been told the MS program I am using uses only Java 1.1 and the current one is 1.4.1.
    This is the program I was given as an example to follow and is supposed to work and is a Java program.
    import java.io.*;
    public class Class1
         public static void main (String [] args)
                   throws IOException
                   int num1, num2, sum;
                   System.out.println ("Input a number: ");
                   num1 = Course_io.readInt();
                   System.out.println ("Input another number: ");
                   num2 = Course_io.readInt();
                   sum = num1 + num2;
                   System.out.println ("The total is " + sum );
    The error I get is, "Undefined name 'Course_io' (j0049)
    Why? Have I not set up the compiler correctly or is the MS Vis J++ 6 compiler just a waste of time. If so, then why is it still available to purchase in shops?
    I don't want to know how to get the program to work, rather what the problem is with compilers etc...
    Sorry for the huge post but I would really appreciate some help on this frustrating matter.
    Thanks,
    Pk

    let me modify ur code:
    import java.io.*;
      public class Class1 {
       public static void main (String [] args) throws IOException {
       int num1, num2, sum;
       //added declaration
       BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
                              new InputStreamReader(System.in));
       System.out.println ("Input a number: ");
       num1 = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine());
       //num1 = Course_io.readInt();
       System.out.println ("Input another number: ");
       num2 = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine());
       //num2 = Course_io.readInt();
       sum = num1 + num2;
       System.out.println ("The total is " + sum );
    }tnks to robert for input procedure

  • Bizarre TileList problem in AIR that doesn't appear in Flex version

    In my application I have some drag and drop tilelist's however I have only just discovered that if I attempt to drag an item in any of the tilelists and drop it directly onto, or usually slightly just below itself i get a very strange error:-
    "Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."
    The bizzare thing is this exact code works fine within a flex application but the error gets produced within an AIR app. It's the only error I get in my whole application so it's a complete nightmare. One thing I've noticed is that if you drop an item onto itself within Flex a sort of zoom animation of the item occurs but this same animation doesn't sem to occur in AIR apps so I'm wondering if it is this that is causing the problem but other than that I'm totally baffled:-

  • Total ink coverage problem

    Hey there!
    I have this strange problem I cannot figure out. Any advice would be highly aprecciated. I'm making a magazine in Indesign and when I export the pdf (or print postrcript file and distill the pdf) then the total area coverage of inks of the images are way over limit when I check it in Acrobat.
    I have converted all the images from RGB to CMYK using correct profiles. I have several different papers in the magazine, so I used Fogra27 (300 total ink) for coated papers and custom Swop for uncoated paper (260 total ink).
    Then I preflight the document in Indesign then it's says all the ICC profiles are emedded in the images.
    I even tried to export from Indesign with the overall color profile included. But it's the same problem.
    I cannot figure out why the images are still over limit?
    Thanks a lot!
    Risto

    Well what profile does the Acrobat file have embedded? Sounds like you are doing a conversion upon creation.

    The conversion of the images with correct profile should avoid the total ink to be over the top, right? I have tons of images, so adjusting the channels manually for dark places is not really an option.
    Thanks a lot!

    >Keep the apps in the same colorspace as the Photoshop files you can sync your apps in Bridge is you own the suite.
    Risto can't do that because in PS he needs to separate the uncoated and coated images using different CMYK spaces and place them in one ID document. The ID document can have only one assigned CMYK space.
    The job really needs to be split into two documents one for the uncoated and one for the coated signatures then there wouldn't be conflicting profiles and all the previews will be accurate.
    He can stay in one document but the placed files can't have embedded profiles, or the conflicting embedded profiles need to be turned off in ID. In that case the previews would be less accurate, but there wouldn't be unwanted conversions at output.

  • Connecting replacement Hub3 - Problem

    I have just received a replacement Hub3 as the one I am using may be faulty.
    Can anyone tell me, do I just switch all the cables from the old Hub to the new one, then add the wireless key when asked for by each wifi device I have?
    The problem I have is that I tried to do that today after switching the cables round, but, although I could find the new Hub on my iPhone wifi, when I added the key, it would not connect.
    I then ran the CD that came with the new HUB, and although it connected wirelessly to my laptop, it kept on failing when checking the wiresless key. I tried all the troubleshooting items, but nothing would get past the "wireless key check".
    For the sake of getting back online, I have reconnected the old Hub, and bagged up the new one to be returned to BT, however, maybe am a bit hasty in that possibly I am doing something wrong.
    Any advice on replacing and existing Hub3 and connection issues? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I too have experienced problems with my original BT homehub (E-100) lately, with short intermittent outages which gradually got worse through last week.
    I tried contacting the BT help desk on 0800 111 4567 but could not get through.  I kept getting a message "that could be down to your phone line".  So thinking it was the phone line, i went out and got myself a new phone.  Just for good measure, I also replaced my filters and did all the other things to eliminate the source of the problem - removing other appliances etc.  I tracked the source down to my hub.
    The hub would stay on for a short while and gradually, noise seemed to build up on my telephone line.  Once I shut the hub off, it gradually cleared and then I found I could connect the hub again, albeit for shorter and shorter periods until it died completely on me last Thursday.
    I then called BT and persisted, through the confusing message about the phone line.  I got to speak to someone in India.  I just told him I kept getting otuages in my internet connection, had gone through all the checks and now needed a replacement hub.  He checked my outage record and agreed to send me a replacement hub 2.  When i asked about the hub 5, which I had seen get a good review somewhere, he said I would need to renew my contract.  I went with the hub 2 instead and he told me the hub would be with me by 6pm Friday.
    The hub never turned up so i called BT again on Friday evening and spoke to a lady who said the guy should have told me it would be delivered either Friday or Saturday.  i told her that was no use to me because I had been waiting for my hub all day Friday, as BT had promised.  She told me it would definitiely be with me on Saturday.  I had a moan about the loss of connection and she told me I could connect up to BT Openzone or BT Wifi without my hub.  I tried that but no signal in this area anyway.
    Now I work from home, I cannot afford to be without internet access and so spoke to a mate about this.  He had experienced problems with numerous hub 2 and 3 replacements and an engineer told him in the end to forget about the BT hub and get a linksys router.  Excellent signal now all over his large 3 storey house, in areas where he could not previously get a signal.
    Well come lunchtime Saturday, I knew my hub would not be arriviing as promised so went out and got a replacement router.  I couldn't get the linksys but bought a TP-Link N600.  Whilst I was out, BT called me and again told me it would be delivered on saturday.  It never arrived.  The TP-Link installed like a dream by ethernet cable on saturday night for my 2 desktop machines and wirelessly for my daughter's laptop.  I did have a problem with my wife's i-pad but after about an hour of it constantly dropping out, I got a connection and have had no problems with any of it since.
    Just for the record, along came my BT hub2 replacement this morning.  The TP-Link is working fine so i will stick with that for now.
    My real gripe is about being given 3 false deadlines by BT's Technical help line - and the time I wasted in chasing this up.  In future, i don't think I would waste time and money chasing this up with BT but get myself a decent router replacement.  This experience has really forced me to look at what i am getting for my money with BT Broadband.  It is at times when things go wrong that people need most support, not be left high and dry and also supplied with unreliable deadlines and hardware.

  • Bizarre import problems in both iPhoto and Aperture

    Not sure how to explain this one .....
    Tried importing photos (raw) from Cannon D10 into Aperture. Failed to import a significant number and gave a message saying that the following files were not able to be imported - but the list was blank!
    So I tried the same import into iPhoto and although I still had a failure it was a significant amount less. So this time I tried just importing the failed files into iPhoto again and most of the failed photos went across with a small number still failing.
    So I tried the same technique with Aperture and sure enough some of the failed files made it but not many. same problem with the list of failures being blank.
    So I then imported the originally failed photos from iphoto into Aperture and all was fine.
    I'm down to 2 files that are still failing to get into iPhoto, but it seems that perseverance pays.
    There is nothing about the failed files that seems significant. They are frequently part of a series with exactly the same camera settings as ones that get across first time.
    Duh?

    With your camera connected, and both Aperture and iPhoto not running, try opening Image Capture. See how many images it displays for your camera, and then attempt to download them to a folder on your hard drive. I don't know why you're having issues importing using Aperture, but there are a number of things that Aperture can do and look for during an import that may be causing the problem. Image Capture is more basic in what it does, and may allow you to retrieve your missing images. If Image Capture is unable to get them, I'd try using a card reader.

    Actually the overlay option is helpful. It shows the region that you are copying - and i dont think thats causing the issue.
    The issue is because you dont have the clip option checked along with Overlay.
    Just make sure you have both Overlay and Clipped options checked and you would not see this problem anymore.

  • Bizarre memory problems with os 10.2.8

    Hi there... i'm running 10.2.8 and have a problem! up until the other day i had around 3 gigs free... whilst my back was turned, my girlfriend scanned a bunch of images, and supposedly saved them on her hard drive via firewire. i'm not sure if that caused the problem, but next time i booted up i had 4 mb free on my drive.!! !! since then, i've tried to compress audio, throw things away, etc... but when i trash files, i often find that the amount of memory available goes DOWN instead of up! as if there was a copy being made of the file or something, instead of it being thrown away.
    i keep getting an error (-51) from itunes when i try to turn an .aiff into an mp3...
    i don't understand in the slightest what is happening and its driving me mad! currently i have 200mb free again, which is causing problems of its own. any advice?!
    thanks,
    will.

    Well, it seems as though you're confusing memory with disk space; the two are completely different.
    First, I would try using Disk Utility to Repair Disk, and then Repair Permissions. If it reports any errors during the Repair Disk process (noted in red), keep running it until no more errors are reported. If your girlfriend did this, what software was she using, and is that drive still connected to your Mac? If it is, disconnect it.
    It's possible she saved these images on your hard disk and didn't delete them, so you need to look around. Do a Finder search of your hard disk for any visible files created or modified on that day that was whatever image format she was scanning them in as, or saving them to; it could be two different formats. If you find them, delete them.
    As for OS X, one of your biggest problems, is that it requires at least 3 GB of free space, beyond all the other stuff you have on the drive, in order to work properly. If you don't have that, you need to get it somehow, even if it means moving applications or files off and/or getting a larger hard drive.
    Until you deal with these other issues, don't import or try to convert any iTunes files. That can wait until later.
    Hope this helps,
    Mulder
