Touble with TV out from my Ipod Touch

Here's the deal. I am out of the states for a while, and I only get three english channels. So I bought some shows on itunes and I bought the A/V cable so i can watch them on my tv in my apartment. The only problem is, they start playing and about 30sec to a minute in, the show stops and the ipod touch goes back to the main video page. I tried about 3 or four different shows. I tried changing from NTSC to PAL and that doesnt do it either. It only works if I connect the iPod then turn it off and back on again. Then, like I said, it only works for 30sec to a minute or so. Anyone have any words of wisdom? I think I might return the cable today and try the cable with the usb on it as well since my tv has a usb in on it. Do I have a setting wrong, or should the iPod just recognize when its connected and start playing?

I believe it's a firmware problem. I'm using a 3rd party TV out cable with the Apple chip. On my 32GB Touch with 2.0, video will play for 1 minute and then stop. I need to disconnect the cable and put the Touch into standby a few times before TV out will work again but then stop after 1 minute. The cable works fine on a 160GB Classic and 3rd gen 8GB Nano. I also tried it on a 8GB Touch out of the box with 1.4, the TV out cable works great. Unit wasn't mine, so can't upgrade the firmware to see if the problem occurs with 2.0.2.

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

  • [SOLVED] Luck with playing music from an iPod Touch 4th Generation

I have tried to play music from clementine (which is my "when the doodoo hits the fan music player") using my iPod because I know how well it syncs.  Unfortunately, I can view my library of music but when I attempt to play a song, it will crash.  On a side note, I have tried the ifuse and git variants of clementine, libimobiledevice, and ifuse with no luck.  Please do not hesitate to notify me of my ignorance if there is a solution located within these forums.
Anyone willing to give some helpful advice will be much appreciated, thank you.

It won't work. The music database associated with 4th gen ipod touch hasn't been cracked by the libimobiledevice team. Any device earlier than that will work, as long as the database hasn't been updated past version 4. It is ridiculous considering how long the iPod 4G and iPhone 4 have been out.
I know how it feels. I have had a 4th gen ipod touch and have always had to sync it in Windows.

  • Can I transfer Contacts from my Ipod Touch to my new Iphone 4s?

My Iphone is at home waiting for me right now and I cant wait to get off work!!! I lost my phone a week ago and switch to Verizon and orderd the iPhone 4s. I got my contacts from online and put them into my iPod Touch so I wouldnt lose them, but I dont know where that saves them when I dock to the Computer... When I plug in my new iPhone will my contacts sync? I am hoping I dont have to re-enter them all.

I have tried repeatedly to get my new 4s synced with the backup from my iPod touch gen 2 in iTunes.  Neither the contacts, calendar, or notes will show up on my iPhone.  I have used multiple settings in iTunes and have tried downloading from the cloud, but nothing seems to work.  Any advice?

  • My iPod touch is having a little issue with the volume. When I plug in my headphones the volume works fine. When there aren't any headphones plugged in, no sound comes out from my iPod. When I go to turn up the volume, it still says headphones. Any tips?

My iPod touch is having a little issue with the volume. When I plug in my headphones the volume works fine. When there aren't any headphones plugged in, no sound comes out from my iPod. When I go to turn up the volume, it still says headphones. I tried restarting it a few times, nothing worked. I looked up many tutorials, and still nothing did the trick. Any tips?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Is there something wrong with the new update that keeps disconnecting my internet from my iPod touch 5g?

My home wifi has been disconnected from my iPod touch once again. It happened once yesterday morning and again this morning. After reattempting to connect again and again to the internet yesterday, it finally worked. But now I have the same problem.
I mean, my laptop has no internet connection issues whatsoever. So, I know it's not my internet's fault. And my iPod is practically brand new as well, so I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with it. Therefore, I'm not intending to bring it into the Apple store to have it checked out.
My last guess is that maybe it's some kind of glitch with the latest update? Are any other iPod touch 5g users who are experiencing the same problem?

You are not giving us enough information.  A singe move can easiy take more than one GB.  Ehne you click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes on the computer a colored bargraph will show the discribution of storage used on the iPod.  What does that show?  If the "other" category is greater than about 1 GB you can restore yu iPod, sometimes to factory defaults/new iPod is required, to get it to its normal of about 1/2 GB.

  • I am trying to transfer the songs from my iPod touch to my computer and can not figure out how to do it. Please help me..

I am trying to transfer songs from my iPod touch to my computer and can not figure out how to do it. I also want to transfer the songs I have back in to iTunes. My hard drive went out on my computer and I lost all of my songs, except for on my iPod. I have an iPhone as well and did an update and it wiped out all of my songs. Someone please help me.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer for just such an occasion.  use your backup copy to put everything back.

The send buttin is greyed out when I try to text some but not all people from my iPod Touch. This happens even when they have iPhone 4s. Any ideas why and how I can fix this?

This issue can be caused by the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension.

I deleted Scramble with friends from my iPod Touch. Now I can't install it again. What do I need to do?

That app is made for the iPhone - the app will work on the iPad but is not specifically designed to take advantage of the larger screen.
When searching for an app, look at the top of the screen for a button that says iPhone Apps. Tap on it to switch to apps meant for iPhone and Scramble with Friends should show up.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!
