Touch 2nd Generation - can I access iCloud?

I am guessing that becuase I can't update to iOS 5 that I just have to accept it is a no. I have updated my iPhone and iPad 1 and it is excellent but please let there be a way of doing it on my touch. Any help would be appreciated.

One way that might work is to sync the iCloud contacts to a server like Google contacts and then sync the iPod contacts with that service.

The 2G can only go as high as 4.2.1
Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

I purchased some ringtones, the same one three times and another one once. They show in my purchases but are no where to be found on my ipod. How can I access my ringtones to assign them to contacts?

Check to see if they are on your computer in iTunes. If they are, then all you have to do is sync them to your iPod touch by following the steps in the article below.

I do not fully understand you question. To use iCloud on an iOS device requires iOS 5 and the 2G only goes to iOS 4.1.2 and thysyu can't access iCloud, including contacts.
Maybe you could sync the iCloud contacts with anopther program and sync that program with the 2G iPod.

Open itunes, connect ipod. If there is an update available, then it will prompt you to update.

Sounds like you actually have a 1st generation as those cannot update beyond iOS 3.1.3.

Why Can't I put my Ipod Touch 2nd generation into recovery mode?

I have an ipod touch 2nd generation. I set a passcode on the ipod and then i forgot it. i tried everything and nothing worked and eventually it got locked fully and says "connect to itunes" on it. This is a problem because i no longer have the computer that i last synced to. i have a new laptop now and i threw away the old one.
I know how to fix it. I just have to put it into recovery mode and then restore it.
For some reason, i can't put it into recovery mode. I tried all different methods.

i tried a couple more but i lost the links of them.
when i try to do the part of recovery mode where you have to start up the ipod. it doesn't go into recovery mode. it just starts up and pops up on itunes saying i have to unlock the ipod in order for the device to connect to Itunes!

What exactly happens when you try to update the iPod? What does the error message say?

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

Using those instructions you may also be able to select PayPal if that is allowed in your country.

All you can do is get a newer model iPod. The 2G can only go as high as 4.2.1. Its hardare does not support a higher iOS version
