Touch 3rd gen got disabled wont connect to iTunes

When i tried to plug it in it says i need to know the passcoad for the iPod cause i was locked out but the passcode cant be put in, so then i cannot get into iTunes to reset it

Try manually connecting the iPod Touch to your iTunes library in recovery mode using the instructions in this Apple support document.

I've gotten the iPod to sync after restoring it and not changing ANY of the music sync settings. I didn't even click "sync music", I just have it on manual and clicked autofill.
After it synced all of the music successfully, I tried to sync a playlist (my recently added), and it's gone bonkers again, it won't sync the playlist's music, or any new music now.

See if placing the iPod in DFU mode will allow a restore.

My daughters Ipod Touch was dead and needed recharged. We recharged and when we turned it on it says Ipod disabled must connect to iTunes. We did this and nothing happened.
THe Ipod Touch is locked up on that screen.

Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

I'm updating my iPod Touch 5th Gen and it says "Connect to iTunes" and I have, but nothing happens.

Okay, so, I unlocked my iPod and it said an update was available, so I tapped install. It wasn't connected to a power source, and I didn't think it'd make any difference if I was or not. So, I tapped it, blah, blah, blah, and then it said to connect to iTunes. So, I did, but my laptop didn't make the noise it usually does when I plug in the USB cable, so I tried it over and over again, but still the same result. I've updated iTunes to the newest version, and nothing happened still. So I decided to just cancel the update. But, now, "Connect to iTunes" will not go away from my screen no matter what I try. I've tried looking for solutions online, but none help. So, if someone could PLEASE help me fix this.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
   1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
       other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
   2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
       until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
              * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
                Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
                release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
       device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
       let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
       charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
       When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

IPod touch 3rd gen stuck in recovery mode and iTunes cannot fix it

i have an ipod touch 3rd generation with firmware 4.3.4. i was recently playing an app whe all of the sudden my ipod just shuts off. i held the power button but it would not turn on. then i tried just holding and pressing and holding the power and home button on my ipod touch trying to get it to turn back on. eventually the apple logo appeared and i felt relieved. however the usb and itunes screen popped up so i plugged my ipod touch into my computer and tried to restore it. when i plugge my ipod touch in a message popped up telling me that my ipod touch was in recovery mode and had to be restored. so i clicked on restore and waited for my ipod to restore. then another message popped up. it said that my ipod was not approved from apple to be restored. i had no idea what was going on so i did some research. i found that other people have seen an error pop up but with an error number. my error displayed no error number. i thought to myself that that was strange so i tried to restore my ipod agian. then i realized when i clicked on my ipod in itunes that my ipod summery was wierd. the name of my ipod was ipod and the capacity and serial number etc. said n/a. what is wrong with my ipod and how do i fix it? i miss my ipod.

I have an Ipod Touch 3rd generation I restarted the i pod and erased its content. The ipod will not tun on or show up on i tunes . It will go to the apple icon then the dotted rottating circle to show it is loading appears but then it frezzes. I think this happened after an Ipod update. I can turn it off and on, but the only screen I get is the "connect to Itunes" screen ( usb cord with arrow to itunes logo). I have tried to restart, restore, but nothing works. I have also reinstalled Itunes. The Ipod is not recognized in Itunes, either. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a 3rd Generation ipod touch that is not recognized by itunes or my computer. My itunes works with other apple devices I own. I cannot reset the ipod touch and can never get to the screen where it is supposed to show a red battery to turn it off. I can't reset it. From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

HT1459 My Ipod touch 4g says its disabled and connect to iTunes but when i do it says it needs to be unlock with a passcode. but i cant because it says disabled connect to itunes on the top of it. the only thing i can do is turn it off thats it.

I've been trying all day to update or restore my ipod but it won't go through without running into a last minute "error".

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
