Touch age and WMA
Hi, I have a couple of questions,
) How old is the touch? I mean when was it released and is support for it (not as in tech support but firmwares etc.) going to continue in the future? Were there different generations of it's like the ipod, and how do i know what one i have.
2) also, i know this is definately not a creative related question but MS has been no help and it is music related. I currently rip my music to WMA VBR in WMP 0. Does anyone else do this? What I have noticed is that I select the option for the player to rip between 85kbps and 45kbps yet once it is done my files are almost always ripped at higher bitrates like 60 and even through to 26kb

I have emailed MS but the rep i got (who i believe does not have english as a first language) doesnt seem able to explain it properly after several attempts even. I am just curious whether it is meant to be like that. Also, would someone explain "quality 50" or "quality 75" and -pass 2-pass VBR and how i can change WMP 0 to 2-pass VBR.

Not sure how old the zen touch is, but I've seen it around for about a year now. There are no earlier makes of the 'zen touch' but the zen hard disk jukebox range of mp3 players have been around for some time, like the original zen, zen nx, zen xtra and finally the zen touch. At the moment creative are focusing on the zen micro, but they've mentioned on several occasions that they will continue development for a new zen touch firmware release.
I've tried using the WMA9 encoder through dbpoweramp music converter several times and have found that the stated VBR bitrate range isn't entirely correct. Not sure as to why this happens but you could try to use the quality presets as they seem to give better results. As you mentioned these are the "quality 50" and "quality 75" settings. The highest is "quality 98". These are optimised VBR bitrate settings. The lower the quality number the lower the average bitrate. I've tried "quality 75" and it sounds pretty transparent to me, very close to cd-quality.
I think 2-pass VBR mode basically scans the music initially to optimise the encoding process and optimal bitrate, after which it encodes the music. I haven't tried it but you could try the link below for VBR 2-pass WMA9 encoding:

- First try resetting your iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Then restore the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problems persist, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
- If still problems you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
Are you serious that photoshop does not support touch zoom and rotate??!!
I just spent thousands of dollars on a new cintiq 22hd touch and now people are telling me that touch zoom and rotate are not supported in photoshop when running it with a windows platform (only works with MACS)???!!! are you serious???!!! I just tested this out and its TRUE!!! You can pan with touch but not zoom or rotate. The zoom and rotate functions work in all my other programs BUT NOT PHOTOSHOP. I even have the latest version of photoshop (CC), latest patch and all and nope! no multitouch support!
I dont know who im more pissed with WACOM or ADOBE. Wacom's touch advertising was supposed to be their selling point! if you cant even use it with the most popular graphics program...err what's the point??? And Adobe should have provided support like what...AGES AGO...the touch tablets and cintiqs have been out for almost a year now!

UNBELIEVABLE!I do not have a cintiq however I down loaded the user manuals for the DTH-2242 and DTK-2241 and the Cintiq 22HD> the first two Interactive pen displays seem to support multi Touch where the Cintiq 22HD only seem to support touch strips.
The ones with multitouch support show this in the user manuals. On windows standard gestures are always on and there is no TAB. I would not like that. -

Did the firmware upgrade on my old XP PC (after rolling back Windows Media Player to v0 as mentioned).
Loaded MediaSource 5 on the new Vista PC with the proper drivers (the "playforsure" one, plus the CD burning one). Copied all my media files to the new PC using an external hard-dri've.
I have the 40GB Zen Touch, started transferring all of my 0,888 WMA files to it (96kbps), which normally may take the better part of a day, or overnight,?on the old XP machine.
I'm going on about 2 /2 days now (with the new PC, new firmware, new MediaSource software/drivers)?and finally it's almost finished.
It?started out like gangbusters, song ever second or two, but with each transfer seemed to slow, now doing about song per minute!

From the recovery /rescue mode on the player do a Cleanup>Reboot. the more files you have on it the slower the dri've may become since it's getting full. Also WMP works faster at least for me with syncing files. -

My sister and I have been having problems with our ipods. We both have the touch and because our dad bought both our ipods and our ipods were under the same name it was starting to sync eachothers music to each ipod instead of seperate. we also wanted to use 2 different credit cards. so we thought the best solution would be to just create her, her own account. Everything went smoothly and i realized there was an option to not add a credit card, being that shes under aged and only buys with gift cards anyway. Now im struggling because i entered her gift cards into her acount and every time she goes to buy a song it says confirm or varify billing information. I have tried re entering her account info, i tried adding a credit card, ive tried several things and it is not allowing me to varify the account and will tell me that my requist is unavailable at this time....
does anyone know how to fix this problem soo she can buy songs

Currently have ipod touch 4 and am getting iphone 5c this weekend. Currently our family has several apple devices and they have the same apple ID for itunes and it is the same ID that we use for icloud. I want to set up a separate icloud ID so that it is only on my new device. I still want to keep the same apple ID for purchases. Can I do this and better yet when do I do this...before the purchase, after the purchase and backing up of data. Where do I go to create a new one?

I just recently got an iPod touch 5 and it won't let me download apps. It says they are free but when I install it , it keeps popping up saying before purchasing I must tap continue to verify my purchase something like that. Idk what to do. !!!!!
Yes. You can set the payment method to "None" once you log into iTunes on your PC/Mac. I have it set up this way.

I have done a restore to back up per the Apple guy that was nice enough to help me at Best Buy. Basically it is totally unusable as I don't even touch it and it just starts typing. I told my husband it's like it is possed. Any ideas?
iOS 5 does slow a 3G iPod somewhat but not the way you describe. I would try restoring to factory defaults/new iPod. If you still have the problem then it apears that you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Can't Import mp3s and wmas to itunes
hi,my problem is that there are some mp3 and wma songs i have on my mac but when i try to put them on my library or basically try to listen to them on itunes nothing happens.i drag and drop them into library or manually import them but itunes just doesn't respond i even tried to manually open the directory music>itunes>itunes music>automatically add to itunes and dragged these mp3s into it but it just keeps ignoring them and throws them into a directory called 'not added'.can anyone help me?
iTunes for Mac (unlike iTunes for Windows) cannot convert WMA files. You will need to use another Mac program, such as EasyWMA, to convert them into an iTunes compatible format.

I have forgotten my password for iPod Touch 4G and it is now disabled. I tried connecting to iTunes but i haven't synced before and i need to enter the password before i can back it up so i can restore it. I don't want to lose pictures so please HELP!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. That is how it works
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I have an Ipod Touch 2 and rebuilt my laptop. Reinstalled ITUNES and can't find my applications on ITunes after login. I tried to activate Itunes again but it didn't. How can I get my applications to display on ITUNEs?
It sounds like you essentially have a new computer and unless you restored from a backup your iTunes library would be empty. You can transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
SInce you changed syncing computers. after you move the stuff you need to restore the iPod to factory defaults and sync the stuff back to your iPod. If you had the iPod backup file you could restore from backup.
If you have non-iTunes pruchases you can copy them to your computer by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
