Touch Firmware- Treble Probl

Hi Everyone,
I am going to get a Zen Touch 40gig.
I understand from reading previous posts that there was a problem with the firmware upgrade that the treble adjustment was not sounding right (this would be important to me as I like to be able to adjust treble and bass).
Has Creative fixed this in the most recent firmware upgrade, or am I still advised to use an older firmware version?
Also, if I use an older firmware version to get better treble control, would I be missing improvements in other areas of the player?

Downloading iPod Touch Firmware 2.0.1 via iTunes

I currently have iPrimus dial up that times out every 5 hours, however to download the new iPod Touch firmware it takes 30 hours to complete.
Whenever I pause all to resume the next day/next 5 hour session the download restarts. I have spoken to iPrimus about open ending the session however it is against their terms and conditions.
Can iTunes actually resume downloads via a dial up connection? Or, is there a download link similar to iPod Touch firmware 1.x.x?
I currently have iPod Touch firmware 2.0 running.
Any advice would be helpful.

I have attempted to download the file again however I found where it downloads to +C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates+ the file downloads as a .DOWNLOAD file however when I click pause all the file is deleted so this is why the file restarts upon clicking resume/resume all.
Is there a way to correct this so the pause/resume actually works?

Sensible suggestions for ipod touch firmware

Not sure where to post but please note my suggestions for development of ipod touch firmware/native apps as follows:
1: on-the-go playlists. Please add the VERTCAL ALPHABETIC MENU when scrolling for tracks to add to the on-the-go playlist.
2: Mail, Notes & Contact apps should be available in LANDSCAPE mode as touch keyboard is by definition larger and more manageable.

Recently updated my 3rd gen Ipod Touch firmware (4.3.3) and now all my apps won't open! When I click on an App it attempts to open and then closes....HELP!

Zen Touch firmware downloads page confusin

Currently the Creative US Downloads page for the Windows XP section of the Zen Touch shows

Which is fine... But expanding 2..0 shows:

The question I have is do you really need firmware 2.0.05 installed to update to 2..0? It doesn't have the ability to install itself over top a v firmware? I noticed the file size of 2.0.05 vs 2..0 is a large difference, about 500kb.
Also nowhere does it say PlaysForSure, but we all know that it is a PlaysForSure firmware.
So just wondering.... why it doesn't say PlaysForSure when it is, and why you can't go straight from v to 2..0. It would be nice to that way people can just install one firmware and be done in 5mins, as opposed to doing 2 updates and waiting 0mins. Hey 5mins is a big deal considering your player just got formatted and you need all the time that you can get to put back your thousands of songs In 5mins you might be able to transfer hundreds of songs! If not thousands!
Hopefully someone can clarify as one can easily download and run 2..0 thinking its just a normal non-PlaysForSure firmware when in fact it is. And your faced with a problem.....

It wouldn't be the first time Creative have got the readme wrong, or at least missing information.
I guess it either needs a Moderator to clarify, or someone who has gone straight to 2..0 (or at least tried).

I have been using the .0.03 firmware, but recently I read http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/Zen-Touch-Custom-EQ-Frequencies-Wrong/m-p/64205" and wanted to try out the .00.06 firmware. Comparing from memory and using custom EQ, lows and mids sound much more clear now while bass is a bit more on the light side.

Creative released yet another Micro firmware today, and still Touch users are waiting. Don't get me wrong, this is great for people with Micros, but why is it that Creative cannot release a new Touch firmware (I'd be content even with a beta at this point)? Both mp3 players are very similar (Harddri've based, Vetical touch bar, etc.), so why is it so difficult for developers at Creative to make a new Touch firmware using one of the three or four--I've lost count--new Micro firmwares.
The only Touch firmware update so far has been to say the least a dissapointment. The only noticeable effect has been the removal of startup images (a feature I enjoyed quite a bit). I think I speak for other frustrated Touch users in asking what the heck is going on in Creative's mp3 player department? Can a Creative rep <B>PLEASE</B> give us Zen Touch users something (<B>ANYTHING</B>) regarding this supposed firmware?!?
Seriously, why are we being ignored?
I totally agree that it seems all of Creative's efforts are being put into the Micro. Creative must surely realise that they also have Zen Touch customers too.
If they really were doing anything for Zen Touch, I think we would have had SOMETHING to let us know that something is in the pipeline, but all we get is vague references to MTP and that's it.
Is there not even a beta release for the Touch yet?
In fact, is there even a Zen Touch firmware in development?

please please take your time and listen to me I am really goin mad right now as I have no idea about what to do :s
as I was having problems using my zen touch 40gb on my vista laptop, I decided to update my firmware after having read many posts, including creative knowledge base notes, that I "must" update my firmware to use my player on vista.
so I plug my player to a desktop pc with xp installed, and downloaded the required file to update the firmware.
BUT it froze for a few mins till I unplugged it. it was taking forever with no progress.
and after that when player is plugged on the pc it shows creative 0.0.000 or something like that.
I realized I had wm installed, so decided to try the things written here which are also shared on many posts of this forum.
well, later on that caused a much bigger problem, the pc wouldnt work properly.
anyways, later I got it back to an older date. and at least the pc is ok.
NOW, is there anyone who has any idea about what to do
- all my data on the player is gone.
- no firmware on on the player except for v0.0.000
- the player is either detected or not; the pc gives only the message like "new device found", "creative zen ready", "new mtp device" or something like those..
- everytime I try to switch it on it says "firmware problem", and goes to the recovery mode.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!

OK, so everytime I connect my Zen touch to USB, it gets recognised by windows, but when i try to install new firmware 2..0, it says the player is disconnected.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Creative Zen Touch Firmware Proble

Hello!
Yesterday i tried to renew the Firmware on my Creative Mp3-Player.
During the updating, the mp3-player restarted and then something happend, that the program hang on. Now, on every start the mp3-player is going into the Recovery Mode and i cannot hear mp3's and i cannot connect to the Pc. What can oder should i do now? How can i get my mp3-player to run again?

I tried to install the usb 2.0 device with the driver windows/inf/wpdmtp.inf, but the PC says, that there are no informations about the maschine. And in the portable media center he also can't find the mp3-player. I have done 2 updates (WindowsMedia-KB8922-x86-DEU) and (windowsmedia0-kb902344-x86-intl), but the third (windowsmedia0-kb89536-x86-enu) isn't working, because the update isn't existing in my language. Can this be the problem or how can i normally connect to the mp3 player, if the mp3 player is in rescue/recovery Mode?

Zen Touch firmware won't upd

I just bought a Zen Touch 20GB today and want to upgrade the firmware from .00.06 to .0.03 I downloaded the installer and went about upgrading the firmware using the program. It starts the upgrade saying "upgrading in progress" but it doesn't progress past two shaded bars. This is after 5 minutes. Any ideas?Message Edited by eskiefan on 0-6-2005 2:59 AM

i think i know what the problem is. Ive just done it and it worked. Just one question on which usb port have u connected ur mp3 player? i am asking this as had connected it to usb2 card which is inside my laptop and i just changed to the normal usb ports at the back of my laptop and it worked.
Plus u have to get into the recover menu: press play button and at the same time reset button and u get to a different menu where u have the recovering firmware option.

Trying to purchase Touch firmware 3.1.1 - getting error 5002

I am running Snow Leopard, iTunes 9, using a first-gen iPod Touch running 2.2.1. I am trying to upgrade to 3.1.1 but after every time I log in to purchase the firmware I get "error 5002: There was an error in the iTunes store."
IS THERE ANY FIX TO THIS?

It's probably stressed servers. Just keep trying .. this seems to work for others.

Trying to upgrade iPod touch firmware to 3.1.2, getting errors

My iPod touch's (2nd gen) firmware is currently 2.2.1. When I tried to update to 3.1.2 in iTunes (Devices>Summary tab), nothing happens.
When I go to the green "Downloads" folder I noticed pending downloads (says "5 iTunes Downloads Available" on the bottom, but no progress bar on the list. And here's the thing, when I click it to resume I get "Unable to check for available downloads. An unknown error occured (2020)."
I'm assuming those pending downloads are the firmware update, because everytime I try an update (in Devices>Summary tab) the # of pending downloads go up.
1) I cannot update my iPod touch
2) I have pending downloads I cannot clear out of iTunes
3) I have tried reinstalling iTunes, 1 & 2 above still occurs
What is the solution?

I wouldn't sweat it about the refurb iPod. I have the niggling feeling that it's a problem that Apple is having on their end via the iTunes store, and not a problem with individual iPod units (since the only thing that iTunes does with your iPod in order to download the update is detect its serial number). Hopefully the matter will clear itself up in the next few days, especially if so many people are having problems with the update.
I got my iPod free in Apple's back-to-school bundle way ago in September, and I just haven't bothered updating it until now. In fact I only took it out of the box last night. PLUS I have no security software to disable, since I'm using a MacBook. Still waiting for a solution...

Max Number of files supported by new Zen Touch Firmwar

I used to have about 34gigs of music on my zen touch with the old firmware. But now it will only accept about 20 gigs. Does anyone know what is the max number of files that zen touch supports with new firmware ?

BTW, I was referring to the overall capacity limit, which is tied more to space than to number of songs; that was what Creative was talking about when they said MTP reduces the Touch's song capacity. Having a Micro myself, I've never had enough capacity to test the internal song limits.
Free space is pretty obvious, and the initial question was relating to number of files and any potential limit. I'm not sure what it is about MTP that reduces the space, whether it's the firmware, file system, or some addition to the files.
