Touch ID and passcode

Can someone tell me if you are REQUIRED to use Touch ID &/or a passcode?  In other words, can I disable both??

And as razmee209 stated, the iPhone is open to anyone and everyone and if lost or stolen all data is accessible. You can use a passcode to protect the data and that just requires them remembering the 4-digit passcode, and goes quite a long way to protect data. However, I have a 5S and I find that tapping the home button with my finger that I have set up for the Touch ID can unlock it faster than I can type in a 4-digit code. The decision is yours, and you can disable both the passcode and Touch ID. Using them is not a requirement.

I keep having a trouble again and again, i have reset the phone twice with no luck!

    Hi Ellstheman!
This is not an uncommon problem.
Try taking a wet towel, wipe the screen carefully, dry the screen with a dry towel, then reset the iPhone,
(Hold down home button and power button at the same time for 10 seconds) and try unlocking it.
If it does finally work, consider changing to a number or word password to save you from the trouble next time.
    I hope I helped
If not, contact an Apple associate for tips help.
    Good luck

  • HT1695 Forgot network and passcode for i pod touch

I have forgotten my network name and passcode for my i pod touch. What do I do??

Ask the person(s) responsible for that network.
Or reset the network password. For the latter, download the manual for the router to find out how to do that.

Plug the sync cable into the device and the computer.  Not really that difficult.
To remove the passcode, do as the User's Guide says, restore the device.

  • I have an ipod touch 4 and i forgot my passcode. When you go into recovery mode does it wipe everything on your ipod? I need a response, I'm hopeless.

Yesterday I changed my passcode for my iPod touch 4 and I forgot it like a minute later! I have tried everything and I can't remember the passcode! I tried to backup my IPod onto ITunes but I need my passcode for that! I really really want to keep my photos and progress on apps! I saw a video online about recovery mode. I really want to know if it wipes your IPod! What is the purpose of recovery mode?!!? Does it wipe your device?!?!
    Thanks!

Placing the iPod in Recovery mode, required for your case. erases the iPod. That is how it works.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • My iPods touch 1st and 2nd generation don´t show up anymore in iTunes after upgrade to iTunes 10.5 and MacOsX 10.6.8 Snow. What can I do??

I was using iPods touch 1st and 2nd generation together with iPod Shuffle 1st generation with inferior versions of iTunes and MacOS X without any problem. After I upgraded to iTunes 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.6.8, the iPod Shuffle still appears in iTunes normally, but the iPods don´t appear. Its not a problem of the USB because because it happens with two different USB cables which worked just fine before. Any idea how I could get the iPods working again?? Thanks a lot!!!

I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen, MacOS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.5, and my iPod still works when I plug it in.
So it's not the software, because mine still works. Do your iPods have a lock on them? If so, try unlocking them and then plugging them in, usually when your iPod has a passcode lock it won't show up in iTunes until you unlock it.

my ipod touch disabled and my p.c not working what do i do

Thgen the iPod needs a wifi connection to the internet and yo need another iPod, iPhone or iPad with the FindMyiPhone app. you can also yse any computer too
    Only if:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
Via USB with any computer with iTunes and an internet connection
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • Hello. I have a problem. I cannot delete any apps from my ipad. It won't even wiggle when i tap and hold on the icon. There's also no restrictions and passcodes in my settings. My photos on camera roll even get lost once i shut down my ipad. Please help.

Hello. I have a problem. I cannot delete any apps from my ipad. It won't even wiggle when i tap and hold on the icon. There's also no restrictions and passcodes in my settings. My photos on camera roll even get lost once i shut down my ipad. Please help.

The preinstalled apps, those that came as part of the iOS, cannot be deleted and will not shake or provide the black circle-X for deletion.
Others should do that if you touch and hold for a few seconds.
If they are not, do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

  • Touch my ipod touch broken and ill have to getscreen not working

my ipod touch 2nd generation still turns on but i cannot unlock it because my touch screen does not work. Can i get that fix or is my ipod touch broken and should i get a knew one? thank you for helping me

have you tried to reset it by holding the ome and power buttons down at the same time for about 1min or untill apple logo appears, also have you tried to restore the device?
if you attempted to restore the device and its requireing your passcode you may have to put the device into recovery mode, turn the device off, hold home button and plug into computer hold the button down untill the connect to itunes logo comes up
if the screen still does not work its the device and you should prolly either replace it or see if the apple retail store will repair your device

  • Unlocking my iPhone 5s (running 7.1.2)either by Touch ID or passcode the screen will quickly flash black before showing the Home screen.

    HEY , please help.
im currently running on ios 7.1.2 and unlocking my iPhone 5s either by Touch ID or passcode the screen will quickly flash black before showing the Home screen. You know its a pure random thing , like a second. Its annoying . Help please , do i need to restore i hard resetted it twice .

You may have fragmented RAM on the phone; that second is the time it takes to move apps around in memory to make room for the Springboard (the internal app that displays the Home screen). To fix this do the following:
While on the Home screen double-press the HOME button.
For each app displayed, swipe up on its screen image to close the app and free its memory
When all apps have been closed this way reset the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears
If this doesn't fix it you should restore the phone using iTunes. Please let us know if this solves it, however.
