Touch ID option is missing. Will warranty cover it?

Ok so my Touch ID option just doesnt show up at all on my phone. Like it never existed. I talked to an apple rep/ genius (whatever u call them). And they had me resetting  the phone a few times and  restoring  it as a new phone and nothing worked . They told me to set up an  appointment  in store so  I'm going  later today. im just wondering if warranty is voided automatically since  it has slight water  marks on the screen even if it was  missing before that happened.  I'd understand if they think the water caused it To not work  but it wouldn't explain it completely disappearing from the phone.

Thanks Craig,  I really hope I'm able to get a replacement.

It's really all down to the Genius you get - Water Damage does indeed void warranty but you could get a replacement. Good luck :-D

  • X220 Tablet mounts broken...will warranty cover?

    Hello all,
The mounts on on the edge of the casing to hold the tablet lid in tablet mode have fallen off. Will warranty cover these? I've been gentle with the laptop and I'm kinda shocked how they just....fell off. I lost one and I've glued the other for now, will warranty cover it? Thanks for future responses.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that mounts of your Lenovo X220T got broken.
If your warranty includes accidental damage protection, Lenovo support will get it fixed for you. Else, physical damages will not be covered under warranty. You may have to visit the nearest authorized Lenovo service center to get it fixed on a chargeable basis.
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Will warranty cover a broken sleep button and scratches?

Will warranty cover a broken sleep button and scratches?

Only if Apple decides the breakage is a result of a defect in the switch.  Ordinarily, no, accidental damage or breakage from simple time & use, and cosmetic damage from use are not covered under warranty.

  • Iphone speaker broke. Will warranty cover it.

Recently my iphone's plastic cover which covers the speaker broke off of the left side and now that speaker is not protected and the speaker itself is visible and can be damaged.. Will apple cover this problem in the warranty.

http://www.apple.com/support/oss/ will allow you to verify if your phone is still under warranty.
The only way to find out is make an appointment at the Genius Bar - http://apple.com/retail/geniusbar or call AppleCare at 800-my-iphone.

  • Will warranty cover 1 dead pixel and an incredibly annoying screen flicker?

    Problems:
    1) I have 1 dead pixel on my iPod Touch and it's very annoying as it sticks out because the entire screen is black, and there is just this dot of light
    2) I sometimes use my iPod Touch in the dark, so this means that I keep the contrast at the lowest level, as it being too bright hurts my eyes. The problem with this is that the screen flickers between contrasts slightly and it ends up making me feel dizzy.
I've tried turning the auto brightness option to off to prevent the above, but it doesn't make any difference. I've also tried turning the contrast slightly up too, but still it flickers slightly.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

The warranty will cover a dead pixel and the flickering screen. But before we get drastic, let's do some troubleshooting. Try a hard reset by holding the home and sleep/wake button at the same time until the Apple logo appears on screen. Skip the slide to power off screen.

  • Smashed screen on iphone5 and now it's just a blank screen will warranty cover it

My screen pop on the plane and its just cracked all over now its not working the screen is just blank

    Warranty does not cover damage.
You can bring it to an Apple store to see if you can get an Out of Warranty replacement. This costs US $269+ tax.

  • Will Warranty cover?

I am still within a year of purchasing and I dont have the extra warranty, just what came with it. It won't connect to our wifi, and it is not just the wifi my sisters connects fine. I can't download any apps, it just says: was not able to download "whatever", won't download podcasts, and frequently freezes up. It is also a first gen. it also runs 2.1 software.

  • Will warranty cover lost headphones

I have apple care for my iphone but the headphones are lost, are they coved under warranty, so I can get a new pair?

warranty is something which was invented so that devices which had production related issues which only because known after the customer had received the goods could get a new product, if a product is damaged, lost or stolen from the owner it's not a warranty issue you can read more here

  • Will warranty cover this?

The white coating/sheath on my friend's Apple adapter is coming off exposing the wire inside. Here are the photos he took:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/trillianx/AppleAdapter
As the computer was bought in April, it is under warranty. Is he eligible for a replacement or a repair?

"Bad design" is a subjective viewpoint. There are many people who for lack of understanding of electronics may damage their cables without meaning to. When people ask for lightweight design, they are going to see sacrifices. Until power supplies of all notebooks can be made lightweight enough to be incorporated inside a 7 pound notebook so that the same power supply as a desktop computer can be connected, we are going to see some fragility that if not paid attention to, may lead to fraying. No one makes a 7 pound or lighter notebook with such a power supply that uses standard power supplies for desktop computers that are an inch thick. The problem is people want bags that are light enough to tote around without breaking their back. It is a side effect of our out of shape society that we see such designs. Your best bet is to follow the tips on my article, and hope that nothing frays. I've had two such power adapters and followed those tips, and both adapters have lasted more than 4 years without fraying. Yes, advertising does appear to show that the L shape prongs can be used, but many have found the cable does get frayed too easily when they are used. We can't guess Apple's policy regarding their advertising, as this board does not permit it, but I have provided a feedback link that you can send your criticism of their advertising.

  • Does warranty cover cracked screen

Dropped iPod touch now screen is cracked does warranty cover it? If not how do I get screen fixed:/(((

The iPod's warranty doesn't cover user-caused damage any more than your car's warranty covers if you drive it into a tree. Any service will be at your own expense. Apple does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further support from Apple will be void.
    Regards.

  • My Ipoud touch has a rainbow screen, not dropped and no cracked screen, will 90 warranty cover this?

My Ipoud touch has a rainbow screen, not dropped and no cracked screen, will 90 warranty cover this?

If it's not damaged (water, fallen, etc.), you will have warranty if you bought it less than one year ago.
Visit your local Apple Store or Apple Premium Reseller to let them repair (actually replace, in most cases) your phone.

  • Cracked screen ipod touch 4th gen... i review my product online and it says its still on warranty. But im in Germany now. what can ir do? is it expensive? or it is better to fix it my self? will the warranty cover it?

i review my product online and it says its still on warranty and expires in one month.
But im in Germany now, bought it in the USA. what can I do? is it expensive? or it is better to fix it my self? will the warranty cover it?
can i send it somewhere and ask for a repair in USA?
i can send it to a friend in california and ask him to help me going to a store or sth.. what is the best option?

A cracked screen is not really covered by the warranty since it is not due to a manufacturing defect.  However, sometimes if you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store  (yu can go to German one) the Genius will replace the iPod at no cost.  Otherwise the replacement cost is as specified here:

  • Will Apple cover me if updating to iOS5 on ipod Touch 3rd gen ruins/bricks it?

I have heard stories of some people's apple products not working/bricked after attempting to upgrade to iOS5.
I have a 1.5 year old ipod Touch 3rd gen. No warranty on it from Apple (tho I do have one from Square Trade for ADH, but I called them and they said if it is a software issue, they don't cover it.)
I am very concerned about d/ling the ios5 upgrade and it ruining my ipod touch.  In effect, I will take a device that could fetch almost $200 on ebay (which I could then use to upgrade to a Touch 5gen), and turn it into a worthless piece of junk if I upgrade and it ruins it.
Also, I know that they have released 5.0.1 (beta I believe?) for update.   I still read stories on here from people waiting until now (Nov, a month after it was first released when so many people tried to d/l it and had terrible problems), but now are still getting network timed out error msgs, etc.
So is there ANY protection from Apple if their update should screw my ipod touch??
Should I just wait longer for a final, stable version  of ios 5? (like v5.1)  Or just totally skip the iOS 5 upgrade and stay safe with iOS 4?  I don't know that it is really worth the $200 loss risk to upgrade to iOS5.  (i.e. 3rd gen doesn't have the ability to find and lock/wipe my lost touch, etc.)
I do know that I should:
    1) install itunes 10.5 anew on my laptop  (itunes and syncing WAS done on my tower, until I just got it back from being serviced for some Major problems/virues/malware/etc.  I'm not comfortable using it, as the problems on it included not being able to start Local Services, connect to the internet, no audio services, etc.  The guy says it is booting up and services are working now, but you never know....But i digress...)
    2) be on AC and not battery on my laptop
    3) be hardwired (ethernet) to the internet and not use my wireless connection
    4) turn off Windows 7 Firewall, and disable my PC Tools Spyware Docter with Antivirus.
So, what do you all think? should I wait until later to upgrade to say os 5.1?  Should I even RISK upgrading to iOS5 on a touch 3gen and lose almost $200 cash?  And will Apple give me ANY protection should it ruin my touch?  (I seriously doubt it.)
    Thanks for input.

Before proceeding with the update, it wouldn't hurt to manually back up the iPod in iTunes by right->clicking on it from under the Devices section and choosing Backup.    See this article for more information on what is stored in the backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
Also make sure that any content you may have synced to the device from iTunes, such as Music, movies, TV Shows, podcasts, etc. are all stored on your computer and in iTunes before updating the iPod's version of iOS.
Otherwise, I would go ahead with the upgrade.  I didn't have any issues with it on my iPhone.

  • Will my iPod 5th gen 3 year warranty cover...

I was just walking my dog and apparently I lost my iPod outside. I did the "Find my iPod" thing and it said it was on the corner of my street. It is raining outside and I know my iPod will not survive the storm. Will my 3 year warranty cover the damage or no? And if not, what all does a 3 year warranty cover?

    What 3-year Apple Warranty?
AppleCare+ and the previusly offered AppleCare only covered a total of two years
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/S5085LL/A/applecare-plus-for-ipod-touch-ipod-c lassic?fnode=7a78c43f1fff63e83dbb2b1c4ab…
AppleCare (no longer offered) does not cover accidental damage.
AppleCare+ covers a maximum of two replacements for accidental damage for a fee of $29 each time
