Touch is resetting during video playback

I was watching a podcast on my iPod Touch and it seems that every 4-5 minutes or so it will reset itself. Is this a widespread issue?

I have yet to even mess with my brightness. It's on the default level. This also happened while my screen was turned off while I listened to music. It just stops, and goes to the home screen.
Even if it was on full brightness, you should still be able to listen to more than 3 songs straight through. I'm so ****** right now. This iPod has had so many problems. I will never buy an Apple product when it first comes out again.

What do you mean by "stops working?" Do you mean the video stops playing or that the "touch" controls disappear? If playing sync'd files, the former could indicate either a hardware problem or poor encoding of content. The latter would be normal and simply tapping once on the screen would turn the controls back on.

IPod 5G Freezes during Video Playback

iPod freezes during video playback. Does anybody else have this problem?
Usually freezes up about 10 minutes into a video, and then complety locks up. This usually requires 2 to 3 restarts untill it comes back working properly.

Mine does the same. It really only happens to me when I try to navigate thru menus when video is playing. I usually have to do a forced Reset. I truly think that introducing video on the iPod was not ready for primetime as it is very sluggish, buggy and sensitive during playbabck of video. No problems with music whatsoever but I am frustrated with the very finicky video qualities of this thing.

IPhone 4 rebooting during video playback

My new iPhone 4 is rebooting whenever I play a video. It can be a Youtube, a podcast or a video I recorded with the camera. Sometimes it does it a minute or so into the video, sometimes when the video ends. I am also getting artifacts on the screen during video playback. Any help? I have Genius Bar appointment this weekend to see if they have a solution.

Went to Genius Bar and it was a hardware issue. Brand new iPhone 4 in my pocket.

IPad 2 screen becomes unresponsive during video playback

I just purchased an iPad 2, and one of the first disappointments I've seen is that the screen becomes completely unresponsive during playback of a video with the "Videos" App. This happens after the video has been playing for several seconds. Is there a fix to this problem? My only recourse was to shut down the application; however, the problem is persistent. This means there is NO control of video playback, i.e., pause, FForward, Reverse, Skip???? I have already updated my iPad 2 with the latest OS. What gives???

What quite often works for people with problems with the Videos app are the following.
Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Freezing with iTunes 7.6.1, thumping sound,especially during video playback

Hi,
Has anyone noticed a decrease in system reliability after upgrading to iTunes 7.6.1, especially during video/videopodcast playback in iTunes on their MacBook Pro's?
Specifically, the entire system locks up. Reminds me of the days of OS 7.5.5 when the mouse cursor freezes, keyboard stops responding. The only way to proceed is by holding down the power button.
This has occurred about 4 times now. The trackpad will become unresponsive, keyboard buttons such as caplocks and nu lock will be unresponsive too. Most interesting is that the sound output will loop, usually a short bit of the last audio played back over iTunes.

- YouTube video's converted by Tooble
Here's a video I recorded showing the thumping noise. It sounds like the last audio dump before the crash looped. It's not coming from the hard drive. Definitely from the speakers.

In the video you see I had World of Warcraft up, but I don't think it is the problem, because this kind of crash has occurred while using other programs.

Have NOT installed Security Update 2008-001 OR AirPort Utility 5.3.1 pending user problem reports.
I never had such a complete system freeze until about the time I updated to iTunes 7.6.1. Repaired disk, permissions, cleaned up virtual memory, cache's using AppleJack.

First, create a new user account and see if you can replicate the problem on that account.
If so, start by killing all the running daemons that aren't OS X-native apps. In other words, Window Shade X, Application Enhancer, divx, etc. Quit all that junk and use Activity Monitor to make sure those apps aren't running background tasks. I'd be willing to bet that Application Enhancer is the culprit.
See if that solves the problem. If so, you can add the applications back one by one until you find the one that's causing problems.

How do I reduce slideshow sound during video playback in iPhoto.

The quick slideshow in iPhoto 09 is fantastic! The combination of pictures and videos blending into each other works very well.
...with one exception. When showing a video with sound the selected background music for the slideshow still plays - at a reduced volume. This reduced backgroundvolume is often not reduced enough and it interfers and destroys the experience of the video clip. I would like to find an option for reducing the backgroundmusic even further or maybe mute it during the video playback. But as soon as next pictures are shown the backgroundmusic should return again.
A very technical solution eg changing / "hacking" iPhoto files would be fine also.

That can't be done. Send in a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
If you're saving the movie as a QT file for use elsewhere and have access to iMovie HD 6 you can do that very easy. Create the movie without added music, export to Quicktime, import into iMovie HD 6 and add the music tracks as desired.

Can't hear recorded sound during video playback

I take a lot of videos of my kids. I have noticed lately that the volume is low or muffled...you can't hear what is being said even if they are screaming 6 inches away. I thought maybe something had gotten into the microphone, etc. I recorded a voice memo and on playback i could hear what was recorded just fine at a normal level. Now once I tried to record a video of my kids talking, it played back so low that i can't hear anything and that is with the volume turned wide open. Not really sure what this issue could be but if the volume works fine on voice memo wouldn't it work the same on video playback?

Why Does Mavericks 'Display' Show Two Black Bars During Video Playback?

Hey guys. So I'm at college and I've been watching a bunch of movies on my Macbook.
I own a 24-inch monitor where I play the movies through, as I connect it to my Macbook Pro 2012.
When I was on Mountain Lion and I'd play a movie, the video playback would take up the entire 24-inch display screen perfectly.
But now that I've updated to Mavericks, every movie including YouTube videos are stretched and small with two HUGE black bars on the top and on the bottom. I've tried changing the 'Display' options but it still remains the same and it's bugging me out so much that I may need to go back to Mountain Lion just because of this.
Does anyone have any advice and may have suffered from the same issue? It worked perfectly on Mountain Lion but now it makes the videos look stretchy.

Most YouTube content requires Flash .. You're using Safari to view YouTube?
If so ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari then try a video.

IMac Enters Sleep mode during video playback

My imac started behaving badly a few weeks ago. It seems that at times of video play back, itunes, youtube, vlc, that my iMac just says nope and goes to sleep. I have tried resetting the ram during start up and it took care of the issue for all of an hour. I am at my wits end here please somebody give me a solution.

The times that your machine goes to sleep are times when you are maxing out the RAM. However, try looking in your Console>system log for any references to exceeding the maximum temperature for more than 30 seconds; that would indicate a thermal problem, probably the power supply unit failing.

Ipod Classic 160GB crashes and reboots during Video playback :S

I recently brought a film on itunes and have watched it on my computer and it works fine, i have also tested its playback on 4 other video ipods but when i try to watch it on my ipod classic it crashes and reboots after about 20 minutes, however i can click the select button and get past the crashing point and the film plays fine. Can anybody help? i also have 4 other films on there that work fine its just this certain point on the movie.

just wondering if you were using Vista ( Nvidia drivers) with SATA drives. I have the same problem as you and i thought it was a problem with my ipod touch. My friend has an ipod touch as well and i tried to copy the file to his ipod and the same problem occurred. played for about 10 minutes and crashed both ipods, sometimes back to menu other times reboots to apple symbol.
I Copied the same file to my ipod classic and there were no problems. played perfectly on my other ipod. I tried 3 other files and same thing happened everytime. I cant get any video files to play without rebooting the ipod touch.
I then copied the same files to my laptop with an IDE hard drive running XP and it works perfectly.
Dont know why or how i can fix the problem but i now only transfer video files on my laptop instead of my brand new super fast Vista PC. could be the PC is trying to transfer files too quickly and they become corrupted somehow. Its very annoying but the workaround works until a solution is found.

How do I stop notifications/reminders during video playback?

I need to use my iPad to show some videos at work. I am showing videos to large crowds in an auditorium. How do I prevent notifications/reminders from stopping the playback of my video?

Seems like there should be a global Notifications switch to turn all off temporarily when watching video or for other situations where you don't want to be interrupted. It is crazy/very unfriendly to have to individually adjust each notification item every time a non-interrupt situation arises.

My iPOD will not display visual during Video Playback - only Audio. Help!

My movies and TV shows are successfully downloaded from iTUNES and successfully synched to my iPOD, however, when I attempt to playback on my iPOD, I can only hear the content and not see it. The only thing I see is the movie album cover and the name of the movie and that is all. Any suggestions are appreciated.

On the menu of your iPod go to Videos> Video Settings> and turn TV Out to off. Hopefully this will help.

Macbook Shuts Down During Video Playback

My computer has begun to shut down unexpectedly when I am watching a movie. I watch about 20-30 mins of a show/movie/other video and my computer will shut down completely, whether it is plugged in or not. My computer is an early 2008 macbook, 4.1, running osx lion. My battery condition is "replace soon" and my fan has gotten quite loud over the past year or so. Any ideas on how I might fix this problem? New Battery? New charger? Internatal cleaning?

I am having this very same issue. It shuts down during startup. I can boot into Windows, and using the Leopard startup disc, Disk Utility could not work any magic. I do not have a second Mac or access to one for any backup purposes. I have no idea what else to try, does anyone know something besides backing up through firewire, on how I can either save my computer's data or resurrect the drive? Thank you for your help.

Fan in overdrive during video playback

Though my MacBook is usually silent, whenever I try to do anything with video (whether it be a small quicktime movie, a DVD, or an online game), the fan goes into overdrive--about 6200 RPM compared to its usual 2000 RPM.
Is this normal behavior for a MacBook?

Yes. It's caused by the anemic graphics circuit. I sold my MacBook and bought a MacBook Pro because of it. Just watching YouTube videos would send the fan into orbit. Also, I have a 3-D poker app that would cause the same fan behavior. This MBP is real quit.
