Touch Keyboard Is Screwy All of a Sudden
I installed a bunch of updates for the synaptics, wacom, graphics, on my X220T recently.
Of course, common sense would suggest you do each one at a time, and make sure to have restore points made during each change.
I won't claim to posses such common sense.
Anyways, the current result is that when I log into Windows 8 it will not bring up the virtual kepad for me.
I also have had the virtual keypad turned into a minature useless keyboard that can't be re-sized (that I'm aware of).
There's a second touch keyboard that works ok if you manually open it each time, but it's not really optimal (and still doesn't pop up at the login.
Has anyone else run into this issue, and know which update or driver may have caused the problem?
I'm about ready to restore from an external clone of the drive, but would rather not if there is a simple fix.
Here are screen shots.
First shot is what the keyboard turned itself into. Tiny, dockable (which is ok), but not coming up at log in and too small to use. This is called "Touch Keyboard" in windows.
Second shot is of the "On Screen Keyboard", which is semi useful but also doesn't load up automatically, doesn't seem to support inking, and doesn't like to lock into place well.

The shots are taken while it was connected to my 52" 1080p, so don't let the size fool you. The standard one I used to use (first shot), is completely useless for touch now, and the second one (which you can see pinned under the temperature app on the taskbar, not the bottom location near the battery monitors [that's the original one that's now screwy) is a pain to use and doesn't pop up on its own.
Suggestions?

I'm also experiencing this problem after upgrading to Windows 8 Pro.
I'm working on an x230t, but also having a miniature touch keyboard problem.

Ipod Touch 5G - video choppy all of a sudden audio fine
Videos have played fine now all of a sudden last few days, they are all choppy - audio is fine though. It is not my internet since my other computers not having this issue only Ipod Touch 5G
I first noticed it on Facebook, then went to youtube to my own videos and they are also choppy. Any thoughts out there?
I have done all updates and all.Hey Calchick,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with video playback performance on your iPod touch (5th generation). While I understand that you feel certain that the issue is isolated to your device, troubleshooting your Wi-Fi connection is still an applicable step in this situation. The following resource provides some great information:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Furthermore, it may be helpful to backup your device and restore as new. This will help isolate the issue to hardware or software:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
Thanks,

I have an iPod Touch 5th generation that I've had since Christmas 2012 and suddenly today (June 27) when I tried opening one of my apps it froze and then shut the app down. At first I thought it was the app, but then it started happening to Safari and my Photos app. By time I had gotten to work when I slid the bar over to unlock it, it froze and wouldn't do anything. I had tried turning it off, holding the lock button down and sliding the power off slide, but the screen went black instead of turning off. Every few minutes it would suddenly light back up on the lock screen but wouldn't do anything after I slid the thing to unlock it. Sometimes it would seem to turn itself back on (even though I wasn't aware it had turned off, the apple logo never showed up) from black to the loading page (black screen with little circle thing lighting up to show it's loading) to the lock screen which wouldn't do anything. The time is constantly on track and the wifi connectivity icon on the top bar even shows when there's wifi, I just can't do anything with it. I could double tap the Home button and the music bar would show up and the volume level would change through me touching the screen and through the volume buttons on the side, but it wouldn't play anything. I also can hold the Home button and Siri shows up but then I can't actually speak anything to it.
I've managed to connect it to my computer and back it up to iCloud and on my computer and am trying to restore it right now, but I would like to know what's wrong with it. I've had it for about 7 months and have never had any issues with it like this before. If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
If your iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

I am new to IPod Touch and enjoying but all of a sudden (after about a month of connection) I am unable to connect to either my home wirless or hotspots outside of home. It would appear that a setting has changed but have no idea how to determine. Any suggestions ?
NO I did not and thank you very much for the advice. My problem was stated incorrectly in that while I am able to connect to the wireless from that point on I am unable to connect to the internet. I will check the article referred to.

I have an optical mouse that came with my Mac Pro, the only thing plugged into the USB port on the keyboard. After a year of working normally, the trackball all of a sudden stopped scrolling down. It scrolls up just fine, but not down. Any thoughts?
Well
I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem. Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol. Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too. -
My ipod touch is all of a sudden not letting me do anything that requires using my password. I can't buy anything and I can't check my purchases. Every time I put in my password I get an error message and it says try again later. This has been happening for 4 days now. I can play my existing games just fine. I can access my itunes store through the internet just fine with my password, but just not on my ipod touch. I sent an email to the itunes support store 3 days ago and have not heard back from them. Does anybody have any suggestions on why this is happening all of a sudden after having the ipod for almost 2 years?
Something you can try is resetting it all Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings. Or go to Settings > Store & sign out & log back in. Another thing you can do is restore your ipod. This has happened to me but the only thing i did was that i created a new account but try doing the things above i just told you. :)

My Ipod Touch 5 got a long red line all of the sudden on the screen and i do not know why
Hello,
So i have purchased my Ipod Touch 5 through apple. The thing is, i do not know why a red long line appeared on my screen all of the sudden. It has not fallen at all so i was just wondering if there is the possibility of sending my ipod into apple and getting another one since i have warranty.Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

This is the listing of what we have:
Ipod Touch 4th Gen for daughter
Ipod Touch 5th Gen for another daughter
Ipad 3
Ipad Mini
Iphone 4S
Iphone 4S
For sharing/downloading convenience, all of these are linked to one apple ID. iMessage and FaceTime were working flowlessly when we set it up. Yes, there was a problem initially where some devices were receiving someone else's texts, but they were resolved when I went to Settings and chose a specific # or email address for each DEVICE (so there's no overlapping)
All of a sudden, my daughter's Ipod Touch 4th Gen started having problems sending messges. Sending bar will go up to the end then stop right before it gets completely full--end result, message not delivered. I tried to facetime her, but nothing happens. Sometimes when I try facetiming ipod touch 4th, I'd get an error message '____ is not available for FaceTime'
I've confirmed the email address associated with ipod Touch 4 has been added and verified under my apple ID. I've tried restoring the iPod in iTunes, hard resetting the unit, turning off and on iMessage/FaceTime... and still doesn't work.
All our software is up to date. By the time I started thinking maybe ipod touch 4th gen is getting old, my husband's newly bought ipad MINI started having the same problem.
This is really frustrating---help?We're screwwwwwed! Not THAT familiar to apple, just barely plugging along and dove in with two ipads and two ipod touches. Previous experience was just two ipods (160 GB) that I had to still rotate audio books out of every few months... well, for me. My wife doesn't use hers as much. ANYWAY, I lost a zillion things with the ipod classic since it didn't have a back-up option and many of the CDs I scrounged up when it first came out were already lucky to have survived college. 8 years later and the computer that had the original files had been replaced umpteen times. ipods failed and decided to quit being a tight wad. Not sure if these gifts are worth it yet.... well, two of them were.

My podcasts won't download from the computer to my ipod touch all of a sudden!
All of a sudden my podcasts won't download from the computer to the ipod touch anymore. It still downloads changes in music and apps, but it just seems to be podcasts. Can anybody help me diagnose my problem?
If they are video podcasts, they now appear in the Video app after iOS 5.

Not sure what I did but all of a sudden everything I touch has a voice attached to it. For instance, if I touch an icon it tells me out loud what the icon is and tells me to double click it. ***??? Help!
Connect your iPhone to your computer via its USB cable and select it in the left column of iTunes.
Select the "Summary" tab, scroll to the bottom and click the "Configure Universal Access" button.
Disable "VoiceOver" and click the "OK" button.
Click the "Sync" button at the bottom-right. -
All of a sudden, my ipod touch will only recognize/play purchased items. I then have to completely reset the ipod and re-sync. I've had to do this 6 times, and support has been no help.
So you also rebooted your router correct? Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

IPod Touch all of a sudden not allowing the usage of FaceTime, iMessage
So I gave my 9 year old an iPod Touch (4th gen) earlier this year, set up the proper restrictions, and we have been talking via FaceTime and iMessage for many months. However, all of a sudden, she can no longer use these services, with an error message indicating that the iPod has been restricted from creating a facetime account.
Of course, she is in a remote location, so I can't physically check out the iPod, but I verified it's not in Lost Mode, and tried sending her a message which didn't even show up in notifications. I asked her to check the restrictions, but iOS is not even accepting the 4 digit passcode I set up either.
I did upgrade the OS to the latest version about a month ago, but facetime was working until the day she left. Outside of asking her to mail it back to me, and reset it, can you guys think of what else might be going on?I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but the article doesn't contain any useful info applicable to my situation

All of a sudden I can no longer open a new tab using either the icon on the tab bar, the keyboard short cut or the File menu option. I can open a new tab ONLY by clicking on a bookmark or link
This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

All of a sudden, my iPod Touch (4th gen, IOS 6.1.6) no longer works with Airplay on my Apple TV. It was working and still works as a 'remote' but not with Airplay which seems to indicate I've been abandoned by the message that pops up on the screen saying in essence "too bad you don't have IOS 7.1".

When I try to transfer songs to my ipod touch or my friends ipod nano, I get error 13019 "Ipod cannot be synced". Everything was working fine and transferring successfully and then this problem started to occur all of a sudden. My music is managed manually and always has. I looked online for a solution and they all involve resyncing the library and unchecking voice memos. Is there a way to resolve this issue without having to resync my music or reinstall itunes?
Have you powered off and then back on the router?
Have you done anything to the router recently like changed a setting?
Have you tried:
- Resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Resetting network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network SettingsTo me the error sounds like a network/router problem vice aan iPod problem.
