i have broke the mouse pad on my laptop and i need to turn it off as it keeps thinking its being used!

Well, yes, data does get corrupted sometimes.
The trick is finding what data.
By 'cleaned' are you therefor meaning that the drive has been erased and the system re-installed?
Because that's the quickest way to deal with such a situation.
Back up the system first of course,
Add back 3rd party apps one at a time in case one of them is causing the problem.

Wi-fi touch mouse x7000 will not stay paired on Windows 7 home premium 64-bit

Product: HP wi-fi touch mouse x7000
Computer: HP Envy sleekbook/ultrabook 6t 1000
O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Wifi type: Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth + WIDI
Error message: none when attempting to pair
I received my HP Envy 6t two days ago and have started the process of loading software and devices. In addition to ordering the PC from hp.com, I also ordered the HP Wi-fi touch mouse x7000. After booting up the PC for the first time and walking through the Windows 7 set-up, I immediately installed the wi-fi mouse.
Upon initial install of the mouse with the provided install CD, I received an error message stating that one of the drivers was not digitally signed and that the version of windows installed did not support unsigned drivers and that the installed device may not work because the driver would not be used. I continued forward with the install and the mouse seemed to be in working order. I then decided to go out to the HP support website and download the latest Windows 7 64-bit driver for the mouse I had. I then ran through the install and the mouse still continued to work. At this point I had not yet rebooted the PC.
I then performed the following steps in the listed order:
- Installed HP Photosmart 4700 series printer with provided install CD and established a connection via wi-fi
- Installed MS Office 2010 SP1
- Started download of automatically identified Windows Updates that were related to the O/S and other installed Microsoft software
- In parallel with the Windows updates download, I installed the latest release of Symantec's Anti-Virus software and updated its software and virus definitions, this all finished prior to the Windows Updates being completely downloaded. I left the default settings as is for the Symantec Anti-Virus configuration.
- The Windows Updates then installed
- Rebooted the PC
After the reboot of the PC was completed, the mouse would not pair at all. I attempted several times where I would go into the HP mouse control and select configuration and then pairing. I would follow the instructions of pressing the connect button and the screen would then say it paired, but the O/S would not recognize it and the mouse would not move. Going back into the mouse control center it then also recognized it was not paired.
I then attempted to uninstall the mouse software and it would get to the point where it was "gathering information" and it showed a full status bar yet it just hung there. I would wait for 15 minutes and then hit cancel and it would still just hang there yet again. After 15 additional minutes of canceling I would just reboot the PC for which the mouse software was still installed but the mouse continued not to pair. I tried the uninstall process 3 times, each with a PC reboot as part of the process because it would just hang.
I am not sure if the install CD installs a 32-bit version of the mouse software and drivers. If so, perhaps I confused the registration of the product by installing the 64-bit driver I downloaded from HP support. I have attempted to install both the 64-bit driver and the 32-bit driver for Windows 7 that I downloaded from HP Support online in which the execution of the installation is successful with no errors. However the pairing continues not to work and the uninstall hangs.
In addition, after the PC bounce, my HP printer was no longer being recognized. Come to find out Symantec is blocking communication of the PC to the router and thus to the printer. So I disbled Symantec and the printer now works but the mouse still does not. I even rebooted the PC after disabling Symantec and attempted to pair, with Symantec still disabled after reboot, then attempted mouse driver re-installs, mouse software uninstalls and still no luck.
So I am at the point where I cannot uninstall the mouse via conventional means and the wi-fi mouse will not pair manually or automatically.
I have not yet circled back to performing another Winows Update check to see if there are any additional updates after the intial download of the ones mentioned earlier. I will plan to do that next time I am on the PC.
Any suggestions?

I am unable to get my Logitech T620 touch mouse to scroll horizontally in Photoshop CS6

I am unable to get my T620 touch mouse to scroll horizontally in Photoshop CS6. Any suggestions on how to enable this? The bar at the bottom of the document moves left/right as I scroll, but the screen doesn't.
I am using a T620 touch mouse on Windows 7 64 bit with the latest version of setpoint. I have checked the box in the mouses settings to allow sidescrolling with a swipe of 1 finger. I am aware you can hold control and swipe up/down to get a left right scroll.

Logitech Touch Mouse App won't work or display cursor on a iOS device running RD Client App

I was trying to use Logitech Touch Mouse App installed on a iPhone5 as a physical mouse with a RD Client installed on another iPad mini. The host is a NB running Windows 7. The Touch mouse movement is noticeable on the RDC screen on iPad mini, but the cursor
is missing. It appears the cursor image was blocked by the RDC.
It would be very helpfull for the RDC running on a iOS device to support this type of WiFi mouse App to enable a physical mouse (through a smart device). I can see many usage models of RD Client with this type of physical mouse feature.

How is someone able to pair their Arc Touch Mouse with my Macbook Pro?

I had this happen a few times now and it's both annoying me and scaring me at the same time. I am sitting in my office working away and then all the sudden, my mouse starts moving around randomly. I quickly go up to the Bluetooth menu, and I see there is an Arc Touch Mouse paired with my computer! It is bold in the menu. I quickly hit Disconnect on the device and it goes away. Then a few minutes later, it shows up again and they take control of my mouse. I opened up the Bluetooth preferences, and I see the device there too. I removed it from there. Then a few min later, it happens again! I finally turned off bluetooth. Then in the bluetooth preferences, I see 4 Arc Touch Mice that are paired with my computer. I can't remove them without turning bluetooth. So I waited a bit and turned it back and removed them. It's been ok since then for a while now, but HOW IS SOMEONE ABLE TO PAIR THEIR MOUSE WITH MY COMPUTER? This seems like a HUGE security issue. What else can someone attach to my computer via bluetooth with no interaction from me? Please help!
I'm running 10.10.3 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012). And I use a Magic Trackpad, so I can't just leave bluetooth turned off...

I am not familiar with the third party mouse, so I do not have any idea how that could happen. The devices need to be close (30 feet/10 meters) to your computer. The devices must (somehow) be discoverable to your computer.

Wireless mouse stops touch mouse from working

Ive just recently bought a wireless gaming mouse for my laptop yet everytime I turn off my wireless mouse and take out the receiver I cant use my touch mouse on my laptop. It might just be an amateur mistake ive done somewhere but would like some suggestions
or help so im actually able to use the touch pad again instead of having to switch batteries non stop on my wireless mouse.

How well does the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse work in a Multiboot system?

After a couple of weeks with working with the Apple Magic Mouse in my Windows 8.1 Boot Camp environment, I have been unable to find a solution for the Slow Connection Times that I am experiencing. Takes up to a minute before the AMM is able to connect and I can use in the Windows 8.1 system. (Yes, Bluetooth Collaboration is Enabled.) So I am now wondering if I need to look for a different mouse and return the Apple Magic Mouse. Anyone have experience with using the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse in both the MAC OSX and Windows 8.1 (under Boot Camp) environments.
How quickly does the Logitech connect to bluetooth on the Windows 8.1 side?
How much does the Logitech utilize the same gestures as in the Apple Magic Mouse in Mac OSX?

Do you have a Mighty Mouse already? I don't think Apple sells the Mighty Mouse anymore.
If you're looking at purchasing a new mouse from Apple, you'd be getting the Magic Mouse, which is a multi-touch capable mouse. It's a really great mouse; I use one with our 21.5" iMac all the time. Respectable battery life, and it tracks much nicer than our older (wired) Apple Pro Mouse. No lag, no interference, nothing with it. We have multiple cordless phones (including a base station about 18" from the mouse and computer) and there is never interference. It tracks as well or better than a wired mouse.

the USB device is recognizable and works perfectly as i can see it in the device manger in my windows 7 but the problem with the mouse itself, when i bend the mouse to turn it on the green light won't come on and the blue laser blinks steady every 0.5 second
at all times not like before as the blinks is different when it's on a surface or not, i tried to change the batteries but nothing works

LCD Brightness is lowered when touching mouse or keyboard

hopefully, the newbie corner is the right place to post this, at least I am one, just switching from ubuntu to arch.

For me, however, it is not solved. I don't think it is related to laptop-mode, but I don't know. I am using my laptop on AC only. If I leave the laptop unattended for a while and then move the mouse or touch any button it lowers LCD brightness. The laptop buttons for brightness do work. I really don't know which program is doing this and neither why.
Since the system is pretty much unusable in this state, I did a workaround by taking away file privileges (chmod 444 /sys/class/backlight/nv_backlight/brightness).this has been overridden by the system after reboot, too.
I am using a fresh install with gnome.

Ok, the / of all the strange behaviour was gnome-power-manager.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to core of why it dims the screen, but the workaround is this: define the dimmed brightness as 100..
You can do this by running
dconf write /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/power/idle-brightness 100
It does the trick.
If anyone's got a better idea - let it out...

When I go to some web sights its fine until I touch mouse or keyboard and then it freezes and locks up so I to close down firefox and re load it.

i like to watch hulu I can get it started but then if i move my mouse or hit a key the whole thing locks up and i have to use alt, ctrl, delete and close the page that way.

Maybe your problem is caused by that particular add-on?

Apple lost its touch - Mouse Pointer Issues in iTunes 10........

So, I have noticed Apple has been getting lazy lately, which is unfortunate because Apple has always been known for its great products. I am becoming more reluctant to purchase any more Apple products for their recent flaws, such as the new iPhone 4 problems (Which I do have an iPhone 4, and think it is great) and most recently, iTunes 10.
iTunes 10 is why I am here today. I have noticed a really annoying bug with this new program. When I change a tag on a song, my cursor disappears. I have to click on another window or do some other trick just to get it back. Can Apple really not thouroughly check their programming? I have never had any problems with this company, but honestly I feel as they are slipping.
And I am sure their Customer Service will be slipping too, as I probably wont ever hear from them on my issue, but only time will tell.
So does anyone have any suggestions?

Renaming a layer without touching mouse?

When exporting files from Illustrator, I get a ton of layers named <path> and <group>. I want to quickly rename these layers in Photoshop.
I'm using Alt-[ & -] to move up and down my Layer palette, but I haven't figured how to change a layer name other than double-clicking on the name (which takes a hand off the keyboard). Is there any way to rename a layer by using the keyboard only?

OSX update 10.10.2 causes mouse to jump around and text to be highlighted randomly in Dreamweaver CC. When trying to click on a specific line of code in a js file the cursor ends up in a different place in the script and several lines of code highlighted. Clicking again jumps the mouse to a different position and even more lines of code highlighted and some characters rearranged, breaking the lines of code. Very frustrating.

I am having the same issue. I have a MBP connected to 2 x Dell 27" monitors over Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables. Once I updated to OS X 10.10.2 this cursor highlight/jumping around issue only occurs on the connected monitors. If I move the program to the main laptop display the issue goes away. It does not require me to restart the program or the machine to make it work correctly. One way I am able to identify the issue is if I go to the line numbers in code like I wanted to select multiple lines - in the one that works correctly, the cursor turns into a white version where the tip of the cursor points to the right. When it is wrong, the cursor stays black and will only have the tip point to the left. Its just another way I identified if it was working cause I tried uninstalling DW and reinstalling - didn't work. Reset preferences as you discussed - no go. And I used other editors like IntelliJ and Adobe Edge Code - all of which work fine and don't display this issue.
I tried the preferences reset you suggest and it doesn't work. I have another machine with OS X 10.10.1 on it and this issue is not there on any monitor. Any help with this ASAP as it pretty much stops you from being able to do any editing especially with longer pages as it consistently wants to page up when you select anything and if you then click again in another area it tries to move the highlighted code to that new spot.
Update: I have a USB Microsoft Arch touch mouse connected (always worked just fine). When I go to place my cursor at some point in the code it causes the highlight flicker. If I switch over and use the built in trackpad, then I can place the cursor without the highlight issue. When trying to select multiple lines or sections of code, that still see's the highlight, page up and move of code issues regardless of input type.
