Touch Pad intermittent, HP G56 Notebook PC, Windows 7

Hi,
once in a while the touch pad locks/freezes. More often than not this is whilst using the notebook from battery power, rather than mains power. If I close the screen, and reopen, it's all OK.
 Any ideas?
Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick,
First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50718.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • How to disable touch pad on an Envy 17 with Windows 7

I have a new HP Envy 17t laptop running with Windows 7.  I use a mouse.  When typing, I accidently hit the touch pad and all sorts of messiness happens.  How do you disable the Touch Pad.  On other HP computers it was quite easy.

    Hi,
    Please try
Start > Control Panel > Mouse
    Click TouchPad tab
Tick the square box to disable the TouchPad
    Click Ok/Apply

  • Is hdmi in hp g56 notebook pc windows 7 home premium

i am trying to connect hp g56 notebook pc home premium to tv but it is no working is hdmi in this pc

Your computer only has a VGA port.  Even trying using a VGA to HDMI cable may not work either as in some cases you probably would need a converter to convert the analog signal to digital.
Have you tried VGA to VGA on the TV if it supports it?

  • Satellite A660 - touch pad on/off and other buttons don't work

    Dear People on this forum,
Recently, around 3 weeks ago i opened up my computer and i cleaned it, took the dust out because it was overheating.
around 2 weeks before I noticed that my touch pad is not working and the top buttons are not working, there is no light (wireless multimedia sound buttons) I cant turn them off/on or I either don't know how. I am not sure if the problem is because I cleaned my laptop and did not connect some wires back but I am including this detail because I don't use those buttons so I did not notice if they were on. but 2 days ago I am not sure how my wireless went off ant when I press fn+f8 (wireless) it says wireless communication switch is off, which is one of the buttons that is not working (at the top next to of/on switch including with my touch pad)
    I have tried the following:
    windows update
turn off computer take out all wires and battery and wait for around 30min. Then hold then on button for 30s
reinstalling the flash cards support utility, hw setup and value added pack
and finally a Toshiba out of the box recovery using the 2 product recovery cd's
I am not sure what to do next. it is either:
    try something else
or is there a wire is connected to both touch pad and the buttons at the top and i should open up my laptop again and connect them.
please answer as to my next step to recovering my wireless.

Please dont understand me wrong but I dont know how to help you now. Notebook disassembling is for authorized people only and if you do this on your own there is always a risk that something can be done wrong or maybe damaged.
OK I must also say that I have also disassembled my machine too but I was lucky and everything is OK as before.
I dont know how A660 looks inside but the principle is always the same and I cannot imagine you have damaged anything.
You know very well that we cannot say much about your problem. What you should do now is final functionality test and install original recovery image that you got with your notebook. Test functionality with factory settings. If the problem is still there, Im afraid you must open notebook again and check if everything is connected properly.
Last option is to contact service and ask for help.

  • Touch Pad of Satellite P50-A-M13 doesn't work anymore - Solution

    Hello *,
before someone should have the same problem, I wanted to share my problem and my solution here:
    Information about my system:
I have installed Windows 8.1 Professional and Scientific Linux 6.5 in Dual Boot on my Toshiba Satellite P50-A-M13.
    _*Problem:*_
The Touch Pad suddenly doesn't work below Windows 8.1 Professional anymore, the mouse pointer vanishes after a reboot. You can't deactivate/activate the Touch Pad with the F5 key (without pressing the FN-button) anymore. The white LED of the Touch Pad doesn't work anymore. Another operating system (in my case: Scientific Linux) in Dual Boot doesn't recognize the Touch Pad anymore after a reboot, too. So it isn't working below the other operating system anymore, too. It looks like a hardware defect since it affects more than one operating system.
    _*Additional information:*_
If you attach an external USB mouse to your Toshiba notebook, the Touch Pad will work again, you can activate/deactivate the Touch Pad via the F5 key (without pressing the FN-button) below Windows 8.1 again, but the white LED of the Touch Pad still doesn't work and doesn't turn off or on. Same below another operating system in Dual Boot. The BIOS doesn't offer a feature that you can activate or deactivate the Touch Pad there.
    Reason:
I had the problem that the feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1 Professional was activated. The driver for the Synaptic Touch Pad got replaced by a Microsoft driver in the background automatically.
    _*Solution:*_
_Keep the external USB mouse attached and start Windows 8.1 if it isn't started already. Then deactivate feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1. Then reinstall the Synaptic Touch Pad driver from the download page of Toshiba website again. Then reboot Windows. The Touch Pad should work then again. And never, never activate the feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1 again!_
    Many thanks, Jana

    Thanks Jana for this post!
I also noticed that sometimes Windows updates could break the driver functionality...

  • Conflicting device error for keyboard and touch pad on thinkpad laptop

    Hello,
    IBM Thinkpad T43
    1875
    Windows XP (SP3)
Keyboard and touch pad completely do not work in Windows.
    They do work in BIOS.
Tried connecting external USB keyboard.  They also does not work
Getting Conflicting Device error in Device Manager for keyboard and touch pad
exclamation point is on the keyboard device.
getting Error Code 10 on keyboard.
I cant go to a prior restore point.  That does not work.
tried uninstalling them, that didn't work either.
can't change auto configuration...it is grayed out.
    Please help.
    What can I do?

This is really strange I must say...
But you say you are using the same drivers for both 32-bit and 64-bit, this shouldn't affect the PE-part, but make sure you are using the correct drivers 64-bit for x64 OS and 32-bit for x86 :)
If you make a bootable memmory stick from the 32-bit deployment share, does it work then or is it the same problem?
Could it be as easy that the deployment share isn't updated?
    //Andreas
    Andreas Molin | Site: www.guidestomicrosoft.com | Twitter: andreas_molin
I also said that nothing's missing so, I thought it implies that only correct drivers are there.
I filter out all unwanted versions from both deployment shares to save on disk space.
Deployment Share have been refreshed several times with refreshing PE images too.
Mem-stick for 32-bit version works fine - keyboard and touch-pad work in it.

  • HP Pavilion 15-n221sa Notebook PC touch pad glitching frequently

HP Pavilion 15-n221sa Notebook PC, windows 8.1, 8GB ram (7.89 usable), 64 bit os, 1.80 GHz intel core i3 processor
I got my new laptop that I bought recently (3-4 weeks, give or take) and I've noticed that my touch pad us acting up OFTEN. Sometimes it brings up the charms bar and randomly opens an option while other times it just straight up freezes. I can tell that it is the touch pad freezing and not the pc because I can still use the keyboard to do things on my laptop and I use a usb mouse that always works without fail.
I have installed quite a few things but I have done frequent full system scans using norton internet security and it has "removed" 1 virus so far. I haven't done a malware scan but I'm getting to it right now.
My question is has a spirit possessed my laptop or is my touchpad broken?

I will be happy to help with the TouchPad freezing. I don't think that you need to call the Ghostbusters quite yet. Is it only freezing when you try access Charms Bar or does it freeze at other times? Start by reinstalling your Synaptics TouchPad Driver.

  • Touch pad not working with HP G60 operating on Windows 7

I have a HP G60 operating on Windows 7 (not sure bit) and have problems with touch pad not working.
I was using touch pad and wireless mouse interchangeably for past year.
No recent changes made to system. Suddenly not work one evening. Have tried shutting down and left overnight which has not resolve problems.  On one occasion, i was not even able to type and that resolved after re-starting computer.
There is a button between space bar and top of touch pad which is white. Even when i press and turn red, it has not changed situation. Therefore I have to use my wireless mouse to operate for the moment.
Would appreciate any advice about what is the problem and ways to resolve it.
    Thanks a lot!
    Mo

    Hi,
    The numbers are fine
    Try the following.
First, ensure the Touchpad is switched on ( the light between the Touchpad and the Spacebar should be white ), then download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp44501-45000/sp44940.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, shut down the notebook, remove any external devices connected to the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
When windows has fully reloaded - it will automatically load a generic driver for the Touchpad, but just let it do this.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Awkward touch-pad on notebook

I have an HP Pavilion DV7 notebook with the touch-pad mouse and integrated buttons. From what I can see, the buttons are integrated within the touch-sensitive area of the touch pad, so when I position the mouse to where I want it and place my finger on the left touch-pad button, the on-screen cursor moves away from where I placed it. I have to be very careful how I press the left or right touch-pad mouse buttons so that the on-screen cursor does not move which is VERY annoying.
Is there anyway to change this behaviour so that the mouse/touch-pad buttons are NOT considered part of the tracking mechanism? Thanks.
    Running Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Hello Steve.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
If you detect a faulty add-on, you should contact its author for support. You can also search for alternatives. Site filters are relatively common in the add-ons gallery: [http://addons.mozilla.org addons.mozilla.org].
