Touch pad problems on Compaq Presario C56

Hi,
1st time poster here, so I hope I'm in the correct forum for this.
I recently purchased a Compaq Presario C56 with Windows 7, and already the mousepad/touchpad is developing problems in that it is quite slow and sometimes fails to respond to any touch from the finger tips. It is noticeably worse when the using the laptop when the battery is charging.
I have installed the latest drivers for the touchpad, and in terms of other software that I have installed, I have AVG free running and a few other applications installed such as Blackberry Desktop software, Google Chrome, Microsoft Office.
Is there any know issues similar to this with the touchpad?

click start>on search column type "service">choose services> then windows will ask your permission.. click continue..>
then search for audio service..> press a right-click..> choose restart> then audio service will do a restart..

Installation problems in Compaq Presario V2617LA Laptop

Hello,
I am new in all of this Unix-Linux world and I need some help, here's my problem:
I have already partitioned and prepared my HDD to install Solaris, Windows and maybe Fedora (if someone recommends a better Linux it'll be appreciated), all of those three partitions perfectly identified and ready for the OS (it happens that I learn quickly, but I'm still new on this). I perfectly pass all Solaris 10 11/06 installation windows and requirements and Solaris begins installation, BUT when it all looks great, the installation (progress bar) just stops moving having 209.29 MBytes remaining and installing the 'Solstice Enterprise Agents 1.0.3 files for root file system', the wierdest thing is that the little slash-dash at the end is still turning around, the working processor light is on and nothing freezes (except when I navigate through the menu options), I have waited for a whole day and the installation does not finish and even re-downloaded Solaris and burn the image again two times and nothing.
Could it be a hardware compatibility problem? What do you think?

I don`t want to sight out from my desktop,the 1st laptop is in an...other country. [of course a friend of mine have it]

Problem with Compaq Presario V6000 laptop

Hi forum members! I am a newbie to this forum and i would like to introduce myself, my name is Hammy and I am from Glasgow. I have a problem with my laptop whih is a Compaq Presario V6000 running windows Vista, 32 bit product number V6254EA.
A few weeks ago when i turned on the computer it failed to boot up, the only thing visible on the screen is the bar at the bottom of the screen with `Microsoft Corporation` displayed below it.
I have tried starting it up in SAFE MODE but all that happens is that a certain amount of windows system drivers are loaded and then goes no further!
I have purchased recovery discs with no joy! I have also tried a hard reset which has not solved the problem. I tried the `hard drive self test, which after approx 30 seconds carrying out a quick test displayed the following message #1- 07 Fail.
If it is the hard drive or the motherboard that has failed is it possible to replace them.

Sound Problem in Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU

I've Transcend 2GB DDR2 667 memory and put it in my laptop (Compaq Presario CQ40-108tu). It read the whole 4GB memory coz I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit but it doesn't have an audio. I've try to troubleshoot it, first try it with only 2GB memory and it does have audio. Then i try it with 3GB memory and it has a audio. Then i try switch the other 2gb memory and repeated what I've done and it does have an Audio. Then i've try again with 4GB but it really doesn't have audio/sound.
If you know the how to fix this problem please help me...thx

Power Problem w/ Compaq Presario C700!!

The other night I was working on my friends compaq presario c700. I was using the battery power. I was running a pre-bios .iso file program, due to password complications. In the middle of running the program to reset the admin. password, it turned off. So I plugged in the A/C cable. After pressing the power button, the led that is represented by a little Lightning Bolt flashed 5 or 6 times and then stopped. The laptop did not turn on. Even when I have the A/C plugged in, I see no led light showing that it is charging. I don't think my software that I was running could of caused this, or could it of? What steps should I take in fixing this problem? Have these models been known to have issues like this? Any help would be appreciated.

Based on you saying the LED flashed 5 or 6 times, this generally means the battery is fully discharged. Do you have access to a volt meter or multimeter?

Any X301 users having touch pad problems?

Everyone of my X301 units have had a problem where double tapping on the touch pad does not work for a few seconds at a time. Also there can be a few seconds delay waiting on what I typed to appear on the screen. I know the X301 has a lower powered processor but sometimes when I am doing simple word processing these quirks will appear.
Is there a setting to make the touch pad more sensitive?
Is there a setting to move the input of the touch pad up on the list for the processor to handle?
Other than this, the X301 is perfect for me and my employees.

Have you run all the newest updates at the new Lenovo update site. It is up and running and took my computer a while to update including a new bios.
This helps but will/can make it worst for a while.
My Take:
If you laptop is new OR you have just installed a good bit of software OR did anything to move alot of files around on your drive it will take time for Vista to re index the files. Being that the processor is slow it will suck up resources that are required for the touchpad or even the keyboard. Mine would even freeze the keyboard and you could type and nothing would happen and then all of a sudden everything you typed pops up on the screen.
I have found that when ever you "upset" the indexing it is best to just leave your computer alone and let it do it's thing. You will see alot of hard drive and processor activity. After this stops, all is well and you should not have any more problems.
This is my opinion on what is happening and I have noticed the same on all three of my X301 units one with normal hard drive and one with 80gb SSD and 128gb SSD. Basically the slower processor is fine 90% of the time but seems to bog down a bit when asked to do too much.
Try this and see. Leave you laptop up and running for several hours, make sure it is set to not go to sleep and come back and see if it does not make a difference.

X1 Carbon Windows 8 Pro touch pad problem?

So, one can swipe from the right to left on the carbon touch pad and bring up the windows 8 charm menu. I can do this and everything works as expected.
However, ever so often, the windows 8 charm menu would just popup. I thought I was triggering this with my palm, but then I noticed a bad defect; The mouse buttons all stopped working.
So;
1. Charms suddenly popup
2. All mouse buttons (the dedicated ones and the touch pad ones) are now not working at all.
3. The mouse pointer still works using the trackpoint button, and the touchpad pointer still works. All mouse button clicks no longer work.
4. I have to esc out of the charm menu and hit ctrl-alt-del and arrow down to the sign out menu.
5. signing back on fixes the problem. Reboot is NOT required to fix this.
At this point I don't know if it is a lenovo problem or windows 8 problem.
Has anyone else seen this.

I would try uninstalling the current driver by going to Device Manager and opening up Mice and other pointing devices. Next, right-click on the device and select Properties. A window should appear. Navigate to the Driver tab and select Uninstall... from the bottom. Once this driver is uninstalled, go here and download the latest driver. This driver is the base Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that develops the UltraNav software that is currently on your machine, most likely. This driver has helped users before having TouchPad issues, so it may be able to do the same for you.

No bootable disk problem on Compaq Presario CQ42

Hi,
I recently ran into a problem with my Compaq Presario CQ42-117TX laptop. I had a few regular updates installed and when I tried to restart the laptop to complete the update, it booted for a longer period then usual before flashing a blue screen for a second then blacking out.
When I restarted it again, it said there was no hard drive detected. I ran a BIOS system check and it couldn't run a quick test on the hard disk. When I try to turn it on normally, it goes to a black screen with a few details on the hardware inside and the last line reading 'No bootable disk -- insert boot disk and press any key'.
Any form of help would be much appreciated.

Touch pad problem

Hello all,
I have an HP 6730b laptop. I purchased it used. I runs Win 7 @ 64bit. All was well, until I had to do a restore to an earlier time, due to a bad program download.
Now, my problem is: the "Synaptics touch pad" used to have a listing in the "device manager" section to change setings for it, and an icon in the lower right of the task bar, which accessed it. Now, the Synaptics part is listed,(under device mgr.) and when I click it 2 times, I get a box that gives me the basic info on the pad, nothing else. When I first got it, it had a very nice complete program of settings for "touch sensitivity," etc. Very controllable. Now, I can't do anything in terms of settings at all. The settings choices are gone. I downloaded the "Synaptics Touch Pad" driver straight from HP. However, this did not help me. Anyone know what to do? I would appreciate, if their is, a siple solution to the problem. I am a bit of an amature. Thank you!! Tom

Mail and Touch Pad problems

Didn't know where to put this so I put in Leopard and Mail...
I'm using a MacBook Air running 10.5.3 and a friend of mine is using a Powerbook 1.5 GH running 10.4.latest. The mbAir track pad is set up as: Tap to Click, Dragging, Two Finger > Secondary Click, Scroll (Pinch open & close Rotate), Screen Zoom, 3 fingers > Swipe to Navigate. The powerbook is very similar but since it doesn't have the iPhone type touch pad like the Air, it's not quite the same set up.
We were talking the other day and realized that we are having the same problem: whenever we are in Mac's Mail program and we are typing, all of a sudden we find ourselves on another line somewhere in the text that we have just written. Some of the text that was just type may have also been deleted. We both find that we can't figure out how it is happening.
The only thing I know is she (with the Powerbook) didn't have this problem until I turned on some of the other features of the touch pad, such as Tap to Click and Secondary Click, etc..
Has anyone had this happen to them?
Does anyone have any idea what is happening?
Any ideas are appreciated.

Yes, I am having this problem. Here's more detail:
In Mail:
I can type into Mail's To: (or CC: or BCC:) field one address that is in the address book; the auto-complete works, and when I press Return or comma to auto-complete and start entering another recipient, everything I type thereafter is cumulatively reproduced. It looks like this, for example:
(Babbette Duck)MMaMarMarkMarkSMarkScMarkScuMarkScupMarkScuppMarkScuppeMarkScupper (...etc.)
The name above in parens ( ) represents the successfully entered e-mail address. Everything after it is what happens (I selected and pasted it right from Mail) when I then try to type another name. As I type letters, something takes each letter I type, repeats it and every subsequent letter I've typed, and adds the new letter I type. Every character key, plus Delete, Return, and Shift, and the arrow keys, results in the reentering of the previous typing as illustrated above. Only the modifier keys Control, Option, and Command, the F keys, and the sound volume keys, are unaffected (and modifier+character combinations).
Trying to edit a name in Address Book (which I hadn't done before reading your post) results in the same phenomenon.
Then there's a weird thing: If I then select all the text in the To: field, using either mouse or Command-A, and delete using the 2nd-row Delete key, everything is deleted BUT then the name I was trying to type in appears, correctly typed. So somehow it is registering correctly, but it's as if the system is, after one entry in the To: field or any typing into an Address edit field, using any subsequent keys as select/copy/paste of everything that is typed before it.
And Console is now showing anything at all, let alone an error.

Touch pad problem on Zen Visio

I have a Creative Zen Vision: M with a broken touch pad. I already did a research on this forum about how to fix it and none that works for me. I mean, first the tap touch is fine but up/down scrolling is not working. Then up/down scrolling comes back but tap touch stops working. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem. There is any other way to fix it's By the way, my Zen already out of the warranty period.

Sound Problem with Compaq Presario

Hi,
I am using a Compaq Presario SR 1630IL desktop, Prod # EG224AA#ACJ, S/N INI54709VG. In my system Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.4 are installed with Ubuntu as the default OS. The PC is using Realtek ALC 880 sound card. The linux sound module is snd-hda-intel.
My problem is with the sound in linux. In windows the sound is very fine but in Ubuntu it is very less although my external amplifier is in full volume and the internal audio mixer too. I am using ALSA latest version for ubuntu.
I have tried all the howto's available in the webbut couldn't improve the situation. Is there any problem with ALC880 chipset in lunux.

I formated my c-drive....and currently i am using updated HP audio driver Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver
and other drivers like modem,chipset....even then only back graund music is comin but voice is not(vispering type of voice)
I dont know which BIOS version i am using.... How to see that...
I went to HP service center they told me.......may be port problem will be thr......and port is integreted in motherbpard so...u hav to replace the motherboard........I realy dont know what to do.....
And one more thing what I notice is that.......start<control pannel<sound.....here only speaker option is coming not the headset.....so i dont know exactly...what should i do...........

Help!! Touch Pad problem (Creative Zen Touch 20

I dropped my Creative Zen Touch 20 GB accidently on the floor and now I have problems with my touch pad.... I can scroll down but can't scroll upwards anymore. This means I can't change my settings and it became quite difficult to select songs in long playlists. It is very annoying!!! Is there someone who can suggest me what to do? CAPS LOCK + touch pad problem on Yoga 2

My Wife recently snarfed coffee onto the keyboard of her Yoga 2 (WindoWs 8.1), and ever since the caps lock aND MOUSE pad have been acting erratically. I've had to re-type this section several times because OF IT, aND i'M JUS GOING TO keep typing. SORRY IF i SOUND LIKE A SERiaL KILLER.
After Some experimentaTIon, it aPpearS THAT the caps lock comes ON AFter typing a, Q, s and sometimes d. Here is aN EXAMple of some aLPHAbets:

iN Addition, the touch paD is not aLWAys responsive, missing maNY CLICKS, And even turning those into caPS LOCKS.
Any suggestions abOUT WHAT whent wrong or how to fix? Do i need a NEW KEYBOARD + TRAck paD?
