My touch pad still hanging itry every thin not working help plz

Hello @tejidike ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP 2000 Notebook and mouse freezing. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the mouse and Touchpad sensitivities.
If you will go to the section on Adjusting TouchPad or ClickPad pointing sensitivities it should help resolve the issue.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers that might need updating.
Hope this fixes your issue with freezing.
Thanks.

I have read your post on how your notebook's touchpad keeps freezing, and I would be happy to assist you!
To return the functionality back to your touchpad, I recommend following the steps in this document on Using and Configuring the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista). This should help prevent your touchpad from locking up in the future.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

If anyone can help...my iphone 4s touch pad is freezing up alot. A shutdownt helps, but I find its requiring me to power down more often each day...

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?

I grasp that you are having an issue with the Touchpad freezing.  To assist you more effectively, I will need some more information.
What exact model of HP notebook do you have?  How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number
What Operating System are you running and is it 32 or 64 bit?
In the meantime, have you done all your Windows updates?

  • Keyboard and Touch-Pad Not Working After Having to Install New Hard Drive

I had to install a new hard drive in my HP Pavillion DV9700t that has Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  After going through the recovery process with backup disk the built in keyboard and touch-pad do not work.  During the installation, an error message came up saying something along the lines of "the drivers are not supported by this verison of windows because they are unsigned."  The drivers that had that error were "hpqkbfiltr keyboard filter driver," "HP remote control HID Device," and "hpqkdfilter driver."  I tried to update the drivers for the keyboard from the hp website, but the keyboard and touch-pad still do not work.
My question is, where do I find the digitally signed drivers for the keyboard and touch-pad that Vista won't flag and disable?
    Help please!

    Sparkles,
    Thanks for the suggestions.
When dealing with MS Fix It, I was choosing run.  Upon further investigation on that site, there really isn't a scan that applies to my issue anyways I tried the .NET Framework repair tool, and that seemed to work.  It told me to try re-running what I was having issues with, so I tried running the Windows PowerShell again, but again was faced with the following message "windows update standalone installer encountered an error: 0xc8000247." I went back to the .NET screen and hit "Next" because it didn't work, and that responded by saying they were going to submit logs to Microsoft.  I won't hold my breath on that one.
I'm to the point where I honestly don't care anymore.  I have no idea what to do, because doing a clean install with the discs HP sent me isn't going to help because they are just recovery discs, and not an actual Windows disk.  This is the second hard drive I have had to put into my laptop and use those recovery disks on in the last 3-years.  The built-in keyboard hasn't worked during that time frame on either hard drive.  I don't think the recovery disks I was sent install properly.  Not sure where to go from here.  I spent way too much money on this laptop years ago having it custom built to handle all of my drafting programs, so I don't want to just kick it to the curb.  I was looking into the possibility of just replacing it, but I cannot stand the Windows 8 interface.
I guess I should have fixed the issue with the keyboard on this hard drive before loading all of my programs.  Between the recovery disk install, formatting of the hard drive, and installing all of my programs it took well over 12 hours.  Not really looking forward ot that again Then there's shockwave and flash and all of the other goodies that my recovery disks won't restore anyways.
Sorry if this seems like a negative post, but I'm just tired of trying to no avail.  Maybe I should just take it somewhere to get it looked at, but I can't see them being successful if the recovery disks won't help anyways.
    Thanks for you help,
    MadBuch

  • Touch Pad intermittent, HP G56 Notebook PC, Windows 7

    Hi,
once in a while the touch pad locks/freezes. More often than not this is whilst using the notebook from battery power, rather than mains power. If I close the screen, and reopen, it's all OK.
     Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Rick

    Hi Rick,
First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50718.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
    Regards,

  • Certain touch-pad features aren't working.

    Computer - HP g71 (Notebook)
My laptop has a feature where you can perform certain actions by tapping a corner of the touch-pad. I have it set so that the top-left corner acts like clicking the middle button/scroll wheel on an actual mouse. Normally doing this on a link would open it in a new tab, but recently this has stopped working. The problem only seems to occur in Firefox, as the touch-pad still works perfectly with the rest of my computer.
Can anyone tell me how or if I can fix this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
*If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
*Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

  • Zen Touch touch pad --an observat

Did anyone notice that the highlighter seems to accelerate when the touch pad is used, and consequently more innacurate? I was toying with an Ipod one day and i noticed that its click wheel seems more intuiti've because the highlighter does not accelerate. However, you need to do more moving around on the click wheel, but it's more accurate. With the zen touch, I find myself only moving my thumb a short distance and the highlighter is sometimes all over the place. Perhaps creative could address this too in a future firmware upgrade, because the most recent has done minimal at most, and the touch pad still remains an issue for both new users and owners alike.

Hi eastern, I'm actually a bit confused as to what you mean by "highlighter". Could you elaborate?

  • Touch Pad of Satellite P50-A-M13 doesn't work anymore - Solution

    Hello *,
before someone should have the same problem, I wanted to share my problem and my solution here:
    Information about my system:
I have installed Windows 8.1 Professional and Scientific Linux 6.5 in Dual Boot on my Toshiba Satellite P50-A-M13.
    _*Problem:*_
The Touch Pad suddenly doesn't work below Windows 8.1 Professional anymore, the mouse pointer vanishes after a reboot. You can't deactivate/activate the Touch Pad with the F5 key (without pressing the FN-button) anymore. The white LED of the Touch Pad doesn't work anymore. Another operating system (in my case: Scientific Linux) in Dual Boot doesn't recognize the Touch Pad anymore after a reboot, too. So it isn't working below the other operating system anymore, too. It looks like a hardware defect since it affects more than one operating system.
    _*Additional information:*_
If you attach an external USB mouse to your Toshiba notebook, the Touch Pad will work again, you can activate/deactivate the Touch Pad via the F5 key (without pressing the FN-button) below Windows 8.1 again, but the white LED of the Touch Pad still doesn't work and doesn't turn off or on. Same below another operating system in Dual Boot. The BIOS doesn't offer a feature that you can activate or deactivate the Touch Pad there.
    Reason:
I had the problem that the feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1 Professional was activated. The driver for the Synaptic Touch Pad got replaced by a Microsoft driver in the background automatically.
    _*Solution:*_
_Keep the external USB mouse attached and start Windows 8.1 if it isn't started already. Then deactivate feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1. Then reinstall the Synaptic Touch Pad driver from the download page of Toshiba website again. Then reboot Windows. The Touch Pad should work then again. And never, never activate the feature "automatic driver installation" below Windows 8.1 again!_
    Many thanks, Jana

    Thanks Jana for this post!
I also noticed that sometimes Windows updates could break the driver functionality...

  • Touch pad freezes on Satellite A350-02T

I just purchased a brand new Satellite A350-02T laptop. I've only used it twice, and both times I've used it, the touch pad, at some point, has stopped working. Well, not "stopped", but becomes flakey, figitty, freezes, stalls... it's kind of hard to explain.
It will move a bit then freeze, then move a bit and freeze.
Also, I noticed yesterday when I was using it, the scroll option stopped working. I was viewing a .pdf document and it was allowing me to scroll one second, and then the next second, I couldn't scroll. I tried opening the web browser and scrolling but it still wouldn't let me. I rebooted the computer and it seemed fine again.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi!
Have you tested an external mouse on the notebook? Does it work or not?
Its really hard to say what is the reason for this because Im not a notebook technician but have you tried to update the touchpad driver? You can find it on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
What OS do you use and have you installed the notebook with the Toshiba recovery disk or Microsoft disk?
    Bye

  • Probook 450 G2 Touch Pad freezes Occasionally

Brand new Laptop. Touch pad will occasionally freeze but i can still click and scroll using the arrows on the keyboard. WIl start working again maybe after a couple of minutes. Any idea how to fix?? Running on windows 7 professional

I have exactly the same problem with an Aspire Switch SW5-171. Following the instructions of an Acer tech on chat, I refreshed the system (driver reinstallation) to no avail, and then I reinstalled Windows, which didn't work either. I submitted a repair request, but I only got a reply to contact Acer by phone. The freezes can usually be resolved by putting the system to sleep and disconnecting and reconnecting the table from the keyboard. Freezes happen more often, but not exclusively, when using browsers. If this were a driver issue, I would agree with your comments, and an updated driver might resolve it, but I suspect it's  a hardware issue with some kind of intermitent operation of the touchpad, because USB mice connected to the keyboard USB port work perfectly consistently all the time with my unit, and because the freezes can be resolved temporarily by the steps I mentioned above. Acer ought to test units for this issue and release an updated driver if it's stablished that interference with other software is the problem. Otherwise, the detachable touch pad/keyboard must be replaced under warranty.

  • I can no longer scroll with the button on my touch pad. Have tried everything on Firefox help and still can't scroll....HELP please.

I have just updated to the Firefox 4 Beta and from having no problems at all with the previous version I can now no longer scroll. I have reloaded my touch pad drivers and also been onto "about:config" and altered various things suggested by 'firefox help' and still no luck. The scroll button on the touch pad does still work as I can still scroll in Thunderbird and any of the other programs that I use, just not with Firefox any longer. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

Since today the scrolling started to work for me. Was there a fix auto installed? I havent updated anything that I know about.
I might have uninstall an old Java JRE, don't remember when I did it, could that have done it?

  • HP Touch Pad - Web OS Doctor FREEZES at 12% - Brick?

Trying to recover my touch pad. Web os doctor runs but freezes at 12% everytime. Any suggestions?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

I am having the same problem.  HP Touchpad Wi-Fi 32GB.  Stuck at 12% and eventually the WebOS Doctor comes back with "We are not able to reset your device. Please go to HP Support for help."  The link to HP Support takes you to a help page that doesn't help at all.  Touchpad screen shows the processor with arrow pointing down on it.  HELP!
Stupid for me to try and update using the WebOS Doctor.  I had already updated via wi-fi to 3.0.2.
Anybody else figure this out.  Any response from HP/Palm would be greatly appreciated.
    ******** UPDATE!! *****************
After spending 3+ hours surfing the web and probably trying WebOS doctor 20 more times, I finally have made some progress!
I read on other forums that the 12% is a specific percentage after wich the Novacom drivers kick in? or something like that.  I thought that maybe the drivers that were downloaded with the Java file might not be adequete so I came across a site that had a link to the newest novacom drivers:
    http://code.google.com/p/universal-novacom-installer/downloads/detail?name=UniversalNovacomInstaller...
After installing those drivers, I fired up WebOS Doctor, crossed my fingers as the progress bar went from 2%...4%..8%..9%..12%....13%!!then 21%... I couldn't look anymore and didn't want to be too excited because I've been there before, only to be dissapointed with the "Not able to reset your device" error....so I just opened up another browser and started surfing....after about 2 minutes, I cautiously looked back.. it was at 83%!.. before I knew what happend next, it was done and the touchpad was reboting into that HP logo and soon it was glowing and then the blue screen with the languages!! Yeah, I was that excited.  Hope it works out for the rest of you... good luck!

If you did not restore to factory defaults/new iPod do that. If yuo are still having problem then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You likely have a hardware problem.
You are not addressing Apple here. We are just users like yourself.
