Touch Resets to 2007, 2004 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I've had an ipod for the past 4 yrs... so i ipod savvy... at least i thought so until i began to have problems with my new ipod. Up until now i had the 5th generation 60g video ipod and had very little problems with it. Recently i bought myself an 8g refurbished ipod touch for the fall school yr. I was completely ecstatic with my purchase until my ipod started displaying the wrong time and date. Meaning that ... the ipod was telling me that it was 3am when it's actually maybe 4:30pm and apparently it's July 3 2007, or August 7 2005 [it is set to the right time zone in settings, and my computer is displaying the right date and time]. I tried to be patient with my new gadget and tried to set it correctly through the settings option on the actual ipod. then i tried restoring it a few times [4] before calling apple to complain. That didn't work. i tried to be proactive and call to see if they could offer n e other solutions. To my dismay, during my day time minutes, they kept me on hold for almost 20 minutes only to ask me if i had tried restoring it [TWICE !!] Well ... that's all i can do, short of opening it up and prodding around in it!
What i am describing occurs on a regular basis.Meaning, it's been happening for the past 3 weeks [basically since i got it]. At first i thought i could just live with it, but then i thought, i didn't pay $200 just to have a it malfunction on me [i'm a poor college student]. Can i get it replaced? Can it be fixed? HELPPP ! i <3 my ipod
Anyone else experiencing this problem, anyone have any solutions other than wasting my minutes on my representatives?

I've been having a similar problem with my first gen 32gb touch. I would love some help with this too! I set the date and time and later find that it has changed to some other random date. Today is 11:04 am September 18, 2008 but my clock reads 9:42 am August 26, 2008. I have set it several times now but this keeps happening. What is the deal??

  • Can't synch Zen Touch when using Dec 2004 driver upgra

I recently upgraded the drivers for my Zen Touch to the Dec 2004 ones (for Nomad Explorer and the Mediasource Organiser and Player, as well as the firmware upgrade). Now I cannot sync my player - my computer recognises that it has been connected, but neither in Windows Media Player nor in Mediasource Organiser can I shift songs to the player.
This feels like a silly question, but I have double checked and the new Creative programs are definitely installed and work, so I can't figure out the problem - does anyone have any ideas on how to fix?

I assume the player is listed without issue in Device Manager?

  • I am unable to sync my Ipod touch with Outlook 2007, an operation I was able to do with no problem using Outlook 2002.

When I plug my ipod touch into my desktop computer to synchronise it, and in particular with Outlook 2007, I get the error message "Itunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services". Reconnect or try again. All appropriate boxes have been ticked where possible, the callendar and contacts boxes being greyed out and ticking not possible.  When using Outlook 2002 this box enabled sync to be carried out with Outlook without a problem.  I have uninstalled both Outlook and Itunes and reset my Ipod Touch but get the same results no matter what I do.  Apple claim that the Ipod touch is compatible with Outlook 2007 but it appears not to be the case. I am using the latest Ipod software of 4.2.1.  Can anyone help me.

Tough spot if you want Apple only SW, no idea where you can get where you want without some decent 3rd party SW, which as a rule outshines Apple's SW by light years.

  • IPod Touch reseting after iOS 4.0 upgrade

I upgraded my 32GB iPod touch Monday and noticed that if I am playing music and the screen has locked, sometimes I have to reset the iPod to get it to turn back on. So far it has happened about 5 times in the last 3 days, usually after listening to a longer podcast and then waiting 5-10 minutes before moving to something else. Is this a problem with the screen lock function, the home button, or some other issue? Obviously the home button functions, since you have to hold it down to do the reset and I can do that just fine, but could it be unresponsive for some reason after the screen lock function kicks in? Am I hitting the wrong button now to get the iPod screen to turn back on after the OS update? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Using your wife's laptop, you can do the 3.0 upgrade, provided she has iTunes 8.2. You'll need to copy the update from your machine to her laptop. The update on your machine should be located at C:\Documents and Settings\(account name)\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates. The file name is iPod2,13.0_7A341Restore.ipsw You'll need to add the folder \iPod Software Updates to her laptop if it doesn't exist, then copy the update into it. You can then do a restore and it will load 3.0. From there, you can connect to your machine and sync your stuff back.

  • After 1st Gen iPod touch reset, cannot configure mail for Mobile Me or iCloud account

I recently reset my iPod touch 1st Gen, v. 3.1.3 (7E18) and have not been able to configure Mail to check the Mobile Me or iCloud mail server.  I get an error msg that the user name or password must be incorrect, but they're not.  I assume this is due to the old IOS not being up to date with iCloud technologies, but I was able to get mail on this device before resetting.  I don't use it much for email, but do carry it on trips as a backup access device to get to mail and calendars.  I dont really want to use Safari to check mail when there is a mail app for doing so.
    Any suggestions?

  • HT4972 ipod touch reset unable to connect to  wifi

Got rid of white screen after three days of trying to connect to I Tunes and was able to reset Ipod Touch.   Now I cannot get wifi, that area is faded. Why does everthing have to be so difficult.

Is there any Physical damage like being dropped or Liquid damage like getting it wet? Usually the "White Screen - Wifi Greyed out " combo is from one of these two things. Wifi is burned out and gone if it is greyed out in settings screen. Contact Apple for Out of warranty repair if you damaged it or have them repair it if it is still under warranty.

  • One touch reset sleep timer and "off screen" podcasts app

anyone know how to suggest the following to apple?
In the podcasts app its such a pain to reset the sleep timer. If I awaken at night and I want to continue listening to my podcasts until I fall asleep there are five things I have to do:
    1) look at the screen
    2) select the sleep timer function
    3) try to find the selection which set the length of time I want to "time out" playback
    4 press done
    5) press play
    * additionally the screen remains on and does not turn off even if the iphone is flipped over.(proximity sensor should turn off the screen)
There has only been one app that has supported "blind one touch restart" of the sleep timer (just find the phone and touch anywhere on the screen)  and also turn off the screen while iphone is turned onto its face (to save battery and keep room dark) and this app is no longer updated to work with the podcasts app.

can anyone pass this on to apple or suggest another app that has this functionality?
    thanks

    Have you tried:
    - drying by:

    - After it is dry try restoring it via iTunes, first from backup and if still problems then to factory default/new iPod.

  • 4.0 update to my 2nd Generation iPod Touch reset all my games and notes etc

Did anyone else have this problem? My Notes and all of my apps were reset as though I just downloaded them. I lost important info. There must be a back-up file of everything somewhere and I would like to have help looking for it. Thanks! ;0)

Go to iTunes/Settings/Devices and check if the backup listed there is from the time before the upgrade. If yes, restore from that one by right clicking on your device in the device list and choosing "restore from backup". More details about restoring can be found in these two help articles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • Ipod touch resets back to storebought condition

My iPod has reset itself back to the condition it was first purchased in twice now. The first time I had to re-add EVERYTHING, the second time my friend plugged it into his computer and everything I had lost was suddenly back on.
Why does this keep happening, and what exactly do I have to do to keep the data from being permanently erased? I have important notes and pictures on there, and I already lost a lot of them once...
