Touch screen froze on 3 consecutive palm pre's within about a 5 month span

My wife has a palm pre through sprint nextel. The first one lasted 4 days and screen froze up.  Sprint tech personnel at store could not fix phone or determine cause of the frozen screen. The sprint retail store replaced the phone. We took this phone and used it up until late August when yet again the screen froze just prior to our vacation. Hastily, we took it to a local authorized third party store, Wireless Co.  Their repair personnel looked at the phone and yet again could not determine the cause.  They replaced it as well with a refurbished phone. This third phone finally froze just like the previous two on 27DEC09. We took it to the sprint store the next day.  The techs looked at it decided that it was due to a liquid/subtance under the back cover just above the battery.  They refused to replace the phone a third time.  They offered only that (a) we use our insurance plan or (b) trade the phone in and renew our two year contract to get a discounted phone.  These phones have never been submersed in any liquid. The tech rep at the sprint store suggested humidity from being in the bathroom could have caused the problem. I paid full price for the first phone.  I don't think I need to point out I am a bit disappointed with the palm pres lifespan. If only sprint had the iphone.  The HTC hero or the instinct seem like our best alternatives now.  I dont think I will even consider the pixi.

My ipod touch screen froze on a blank white page and won't let me connect to itunes what to do?

It works for many users. In some cases the white screen is due to a hardware problem and there is nothing that one can do short of getting someonet to know what they are doing and take the iPod apart andmaybe fix the hardware problem.

  • My ipod touch screen froze and the screen has gone white and i cannot do anything. Is it broken? can it be fixed?

My ipod froze during facebook and now the screen han gone white and i cannot do anything.

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the article again.
    - If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch Screen not Working after using Assistive Touch

    Hey everyone!
Yesterday my iPod Touch 4th gen touch screen froze (not the screen itself - it still wakes from sleep & responds to notifications and charging etc.), after myself accidentally taping 'Voice Control' on Assistive Touch.
I was wondering, since it's out of warranty (it's a couple of years old), I can't send it back. I'm currently backing up & restoring it.
Can anyone tell me if it's the software or hardware? It's going to take at least a good day or so to backup & restore, due to storage is full, and it's 32GB capacity, so it'd be good to know in advance.
And if anyone has got any other suggestions to fix it, please let me know! It'll be much appreciated.
    Thanks heaps!
PS. Please don't tell me to repair it...it'll cost just as much to fix my whole iPod, buttons & screen than it is to buy a brand new one!!

There is really no what to know if hardware or software problem without trying to restoring the iPod. First from backup and then to factory settings/new iPod. If still problem then it is a hardware problem.

  • IPOD screen froze, Itunes won't open

Help! With no warning, my 10-yr olds 2nd generation touch screen froze and wouldn't slide to open. Tried to reset it by turning off until I got the apple to appear, then the sync with Itunes icon. When i connect it to my computer, a msg comes up in Itunes that the IPod is password protected and I have to use the password on the ipod to get the itunes account to open. Can't sync, can't slide open her ipod, can't turn off. What can i do??

Thanks. Did that, it opens Itunes, but comes up with the msg "Could not connect to ITUNES because it is locked with a password. Must enter password on IPOD before it can be used with ITUNES. any ideas?

  • I am not able to change the ringtone on my Palm Pre?

I spent a couple days on researching and troubleshooting, but unable to find anything. Can someone shed some lights?  I followed the same instructions given on the Palm support website, but it wouldn't change the ringtone.  I tried using the ringtones that were pre-loaded to the phones as well as ones I downloaded on iTunes but couldn't get it to work.
I am getting a bit frustrated now.
I have been having a lot of problems with this palm pre since I got it a month ago.

One of the key things about changing the ringtones is once you set the new ringtone you need to do a backswipe to return to the previous screen for the ringtone to save.

The real point is Kappy gave you a link to a list of video demonstrations of changing the digitizer to show you that what you intend to do can in fact be done.  However, not once but TWICE you questiofed what was freely given to you, and you obviously didn't take the time or make any effort to find out if white framed digitizers are available.
The fact of the matter is, white framed digitizers are available, and rather inexpensively I might add.
My post with the outrageous prices was intended to trigger some of your obviously dormant gray matter into some form of activity that might just resemble intelligent human thought and maybe generate a giggle or two.  Guess I was wrong....  But at least now I know why you have a picture of a box of rocks for your avatar....

  • How to make Creative Suite Cs5 support touch screen conection

I paid over $600 dollars to be able to have all of the creative suite 5 and now that I have a touch screen that I can work off of it seems like I being told that you have to pay a monthly fee just to be able to work on one of the five programs I already paid for on my tablet.  Huge oversight and I need to know if there is a way to make it work with windows 8 computer/tablets that doesn't have wacom feel technology.

Then what about cs6 which is the newest software that does not have a monthly fee to use I do not mind upgrading to newer software but I hear that cs6 has issues with it too and no one from Adobe could give me any guarantee that it would work if I did upgrade. And I refuse to pay a monthly fee just to use one program on my touch screen when I have already paid for over five that work just fine otherwise.  To say that there is no way to plug it in is absolute ignorance I refuse to believe that a program built to be expanded on and upgraded with different plug ins and brushes can not be coded to work with a touch screen maybe they wont bother with cs5 but what about cs6.  Not only that touch screens where around since 1990's and in 2007 the first multi touch screen was introduced its not that they weren't around its that Adobe refused to incorporate them with their software and now that they are more common Adobe is cashing in with a monthly fee.

  • Someone Help - Touch Screen Problem

Hi. I bought a HP Touchsmart 300z series desktop yesterday and I have had some problems with the touch screen since I turned on the PC yesterday.
The first thing that happens is when I install a new program the touch feature goes away. Turn off the PC for a bit and fire it back up and it works fine but leads to the next problem.
The next problem is when I start up the PC and the touch screen is working, if the PC is on for about an hour the touchscreen goes off and I am unable to use it. If I turn the computer off for a little bit and turn it back on, the touch screen will work.
Is anyone else having this issue? And wht can I do?

  • Any way to tranfer contact information from a Palm Pre with a broken touch screen?

My beloved Palm Pre died last Friday with the touch screen failing.  It simply stopped responding to inputs.   I am able to unlock the phone and enter some commands from the slide out keypad, but I can't do much.  For example, I can type in "contacts" under just-type and then hit enter and it will take me to the contacts screen.  However, at that point I can't navigate around or open any contacts.   Other commands don't respond to the slide out keypad, such as the "USB Drive" prompt when I plug the phone into my laptop.
I have several contacts saved on the phone (and some on the SIM) that I can no longer access.  Most were backed up to my Outlook contacts but many are not.   Does anyone have any ideas about how I can move these to an alternate source (Outlook, Google, Desktop, etc) where I can then recover them.   I'm open to any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Crash.

There are several methods to export Palm Profile contacts such as:
    http://www.webosnation.com/how-to-export-and-move-your-contacts-patch
    and
    http://www.webosnation.com/how-to-export-your-webos-contacts-csv
but they all require a device with a responsive touchscreen. I am unaware of any way to access your webOS Profile data from HP's backup servers directly, without a device.
So...if you either know someone with a webOS device you could borrow, or find an inexpensive used one (eg eBay...or if you could use Verizon, get a no-contract Pre 2 from BestBuy for a mere $45!!!), and if you had Backup turned on, you should be able to restore them all by signing into your account on a replacement webOS device.

  • Palm Pre Screen

I have damaged my palm pre screen and it will no longer accept any touch functions.  I have gotten a new pre however i need to get my old one into USB mode so I can retrieve my contacts.  The old pre will boot up and when I plug it into the computer it shows me the 3 options(media sync, usb, just charge) however I cannot select USB because the screen is broken and will not accept any commands.  The keyboard still works is there any keystroke combination i can use to tell it to go into USB mode without touching the screen?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I thought when i logged into my new pre with my palm ID i would get my contacts but only got the ones I added to the pre not previous contacts.  Thanks
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Yeah, ive seen alot of pictures online where the screen cracked right in the same spot that mine did. I think you have a defect, and you should fess up to it. I spent 4k on a vacation I waited for for 5 yrs, and now I cant get my picks or contacts. It kinda stinks.
Why do they all break right above the button? And many people say that they know for a fact that they didnt do anytihng to break it. How are you gonna assist your customers with these issues?

  • My palm m105's touch screen doesn't work properly after a sync.

I dug out my old m105, put new batteries in and start it. On first launch it auto runs the alignment tool, and after touching all the points it goes to the main screen and works fine. No problem till here.
Now, I plug it into my old computer which still has the palm software with my apps, and I run the sync operation (from the palm device sync manager, cause I lost my cradle and I'm connected via the serial cable), and it syncs fine BUT, here comes the problem, when it finishes the sync (successfully) the touch screen is all misaligned. I can't go back to the home screen or do anything useful.

        Maldoman578,
Let's help solve this mystery together! Is your screen freezing after every reboot? Is there any physical/liquid damage on the device? When did this issue begin? Did you notice this after a recent update or application download?

  • Palm Z22 frozen touch screen

Hi -- I can turn on my Palm Z22, I can reset it, i can use the buttons, but the touch screen doesn't work at all.  Does anyone know a fix for this?
    Thanks,
    Betsy
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

To add to this.....I just performed a hard reset and after confirming that I wanted to delete all data, it then asked me to "Tap the center of the target" with the stylus.  The target just keeps alternating between top left corner and bottom right corner in an endless loop and won't leave that screen no matter how many times I tap the target.  Is my Z22 gone for good?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello Valerie,
Have you tried a hard reset yet?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
This may or may not work the first time around, so be sure to attempt this procedure at least 3 times.
