Touch screen got frozen

Question

Yesterday my iPhone behaved very strangely. Here is what happened.
I got a reminder for one of my Calendar appointments. The phone screen was locked. I tried to unlock the screen by sliding the arrow. However the iPhone was not reacting. Upon pushing the Home button - I was able to go to the Home screen. I tried to touch icons on my Home screen - upper and bottom part - the iphone was not reacting at all. The only things that worked were the power button and Home button. And they also worked in a very unusual way.
Finally I switched it off, thinking that I'll have ot search this forum when I get back home.
After some time I got a phone call - and amazingly I was able to unlock the screen to take the phone call. Also all the buttons and the screen icons started to work correctly.
I'm not sure what was the problem. Some kind of glitch.
What do I need to do if it happens again? Is there some kind of reset that I can do manually?
Do I need ot go to the Apple store?

How much memory do you have left on your iPhone. Also, are you using a lot of apps. It sounds like a memory problem of some sort to me. You should not really have more than 90% of your memory used up, otherwise some of the features might run slowly. Also, if you are using apps like the internet, then make sure that you close them properly, by pressing the home button until the home screen reappears.
Finally, get into the habit of doing a reboot very week, by pressing the home and sleep buttons together until he Apple log appears, then let go. This will clear any caches.
