Touch screen interfaces with CS 6

i have a Planar PX2230MW and CS6 photoshop will not interface.  any help with newer drivers or nothing as of yet.  the monitor will work with CS5.5

Photoshop does not have any special touch support.  If there is special Photoshop support for your touch device its programmed into the touch devices device driver.  It may be highly configureible for Photoshop.  I have a Wacom Intuos 5 Tablet with 10 finger touch support.  Wacom drivers can be configured for different running application. And there some special settings for Photoshop.  The Intuos 5 is first of all a Pen tablet with pressure support.  It also has express keys and ring.  The Wacom configuration application can be use to program Express keys and ring support. Pen Support and touch support.  Here is what my Photoshop configuration look like.  Right now the touch support is limited to five finger touch. That may change.

  • Excel 2013 BeforeRightClick Event fails on Windows 8.1 Tablet (it's an Excel 2013 tablet touch screen interface bug)

I have developed customized table context menus in an Excel 2013 workbook on my Laptop. They work just fine on my laptop and my work desktop. But when I try to run them on my tablet PC the Worksheet_BeforeRightClick event in Excel 2013 never fires. Other
worksheet events appear to work okay. I have fully reinstalled Office 2013 Pro and that does not make any difference.
I have read other comments regarding this same problem going back to 2013, but have never seen Microsoft respond to this issue. Nor have I been able to find a resolution. Has anyone else run into this and found a solution?
Additional Discoveries: Testing on my tablet shows that adding one custom CommandBarButton to either the top or the bottom of the default "List Range Popup" context menu causes the Worksheet_BeforeRightClick event to fail.  The basic context
menu commands still show up, but the default dropdown button for additional context menu commands disappears. The event is perhaps firing, but any customized code for the context menu is not being handled properly by Excel. This does appear to be a bug and
not a question of coding error. Perhaps someone else with a tablet PC running WIndows 8.1 could test this.
    Based on comments
here this bug was introduced in Excel 2013 because others find the problem does not exist when using Excel 2010 on a tablet PC. Note that all the commenters on the linked thread that are experiencing this problem are using tablet PCs.
Update 3-13-15: I stand corrected. The Worksheet_BeforeRightClick does work on Excel 2013 Windows 8.1 tablets. I happen to own an Asus VivoTab Note 8, which comes with a Wacom stylus. If I use the Wacom sylus to right click on an Excel 2013 worksheet cell,
the Worksheet_BeforeRightClick event fires and modified context menu code runs just fine. But the code will not run if one uses their finger to right click a worksheet cell. This explains why this problem only shows up on tablet PCs. So the "bug"
introduced in Excel 2013 is a general user touch screen interface bug and not an Excel events programming bug.
Update 3-21-15: Switched to a  Toshiba Protege laptop with touch screen. Same issue with finger touch screen interface on the Toshiba touch screen as with the Asus VivoTab touch screen.
Laptop: Toshiba Protege (with touch screen), Windows 8.1 64bit and MSOffice 2013 Pro 32bit
Tablet: Asus VivoTab Note 8, Windows 8.1 32bit and MSOffice 2013 Pro 32 bit
Desktop: Generic, Windows 7 64bit and MSOffice 2013 Pro 64bit

    Hello Phil,
Command bars were deprecated and shouldn't be used any longer. Instead, you need to use the Fluent UI (aka Ribbon UI) instead. You can read more about the new UI in the following series of articles in MSDN:
Customizing Context Menus in Office 2010
Customizing the 2007 Office Fluent Ribbon for Developers (Part 1 of 3)
Customizing the 2007 Office Fluent Ribbon for Developers (Part 2 of 3)
Customizing the 2007 Office Fluent Ribbon for Developers (Part 3 of 3)
As a workaround you can add a custom control to the context
menu with the getEnabled or getVisible callback which will be invoked before the context menu is shown.

  • Has anyone used a touch screen monitor with scxi.I am having video lock ups while using LV and MAX

I have a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 daq card (dev1) connected to a scxi-1000 chassis address 0 ID 1, with a scxi-1102,1163,1163,1162 slots 1,2,3,4 respectively.Cable is connected to daq card to 1102 card .Micro touch screen is used on com2. Have tried other serial ports 1,5. Touch screen works fine with windows until LabView and max is installed .Video lockups,Max failures occur.MAX seems to confict with touch screen.

Max is the NI interface for all the drivers. It may be a specific driver that is causing problems, perhaps NI-VISA. I would try installing things one piece at a time. Might want to start by uninstalling everything so that you start with a clean system. First install LabVIEW with no drivers at all. See if the Micro touch screen still works. Then try installing NI-DAQ. Install each of the drivers you need one at a time. If you don't need something, leave it out.

  • Mouseover tooltips on touch screen interface

    Hi folks
My app makes extensive use of mouseover "tooltips", sometimes using a plugin, other times using the "title" tag directly.  On busy pages this can be a very effective way to include useful extra information which is only visible when needed.
Of course, all of this useful information is inaccessible on touch screens, or non-mouse interfaces in general, along with right-click menus, I guess.
I would be grateful if anyone could advise whether there is an emerging standard or accepted technique to emulate mouseover events in a touch UI, which could realistically be implemented across the board for an app with clever use of templates and javascript or other arcane topics?
It would be a shame to have to adopt an entirely different approach which reduces functionality on a PC simply to maintain compatibility with the capabilities of other devices.
    Regards
    Chris

Yeah, this can be a problem.
Without putting too much thought into this, I think Touch Punch may help you (jQuery UI Touch Punch - Touch Event Support for jQuery UI), maybe. It's easy to try.
I think it wouldn't be hard to have a script that only runs on touch devices and enables touch events to trigger tooltips to show.
    Thanks

  • Touch Screen Drawing With Adobe Illustrator And Photoshop

I've read that people have used the touch screen monitors of there home computers to draw in Illustrator.  Is this true?  If so what types of computers/monitors allow this?
Also any other devices?  I've heard of the Surface Pro and am still researching it.

I have the surface pro 3 I7 256GB device. It works great using the Adobe suite CC 2014. If no keyboard is connected then you can use the new touch interface in Illustrator. The pen that the surface has 256 pressure levels. Which is usually more than enough even in photoshop.
The touch interface is much larger than the normal interface making easier to see on the hyper resolution screen (2160x1440)
If you use the normal interface (which you will need to at times) I recommend a mouse so you can easily select buttons and menu items.
If you purchase a tablet and for any reason the pen does not work correctly or other defect, it is recommend to send it back for replacement. There have been some issues reported on the surface forum. But I do not know if these were early units or what. Just so you are aware.
The reason why you should use the surface over other tablet is because of the pressure sensitive pen. Photoshop for example can use the capacitive pens for accessing the interface but the brush tool requires a Wacom style pen.
To my knowledge most if not all tools in illustrator can use a capacitive pen.
Most features like zoom, move even the new straight rule/French curve work by using two fingers.
The best part of having a touch screen is the ability to see what you are drawing while you draw it.

  • IPod touch screen frozen with computer cable and iTunes sign

My iPod touch is frozen with a computer cable and iTunes disc sign on the screen. I have tried to restart it but it has not gone away. Any suggestions as to what it may be or how to fix it?

Called Apple tech help - no freaking use!!! So I read a few posts and amongst others under help in itunes, I ran diagnostics and there was a link when the ipod was not recognized that discussed clearing temp files, etc. I did that, messed with MS Config to disable conflicting programs and some other stuff related to clearing temp files from installation of software. Eventually, I removed all apple software - itunes, helper, bonjour, mobile me etc and reloaded itunes. Did another reboot and this time it worked.
Now, this is the second time I have updated software and each time it it really sucky. I thought Macs were supposed to be better than PC's (;-) well they sure are NOT. I can download and update anything else with no probs but an ipod.
ipod touch is cool as it has internet access but stupid as an MP3 player as there is no radio and no decent equalizer. Sony kisses ipod butt regarding sound quality

  • Can I use a touch screen monitor with my macbook pro?

I am doing a lot of photo organization and thought it would be easier if I had a touch screen monitor attached to my macbook pro.  Has anyone tried this and if so, what brand did you use.
    Thanks
    Bob

All a touchscreen is going to do is replace your mouse or trackpad, you can't use two hands at once to gain any speed advantage organizing photo's.
Also it would have to be a pretty big touch screen, place your two hands over a 17" screen and most of the screen is blocked.
If you need something like that, talk to Microsoft, they have a "Big @ss table" that does that.
Gives me a backache just looking at those people

  • Can i use my ipad2/iphone or touch to interface with a home phone landline?

My house phone has broken and i was wondering if there is a docking device that can be interfaced with one of my apple products to make it utilise my landline.

If you have an iPad, you're more than welcome to get a VoIP client (Google Voice, anyone?) which will let you make calls...and as we all know, iPhones can make calls.
Home phones are getting cheaper and cheaper, so I don't see why you couldn't just fix the home phone for ~$20.
Now, if you wanted to ditch your landline and make your iPhone act like a landline, I'd check this dock out: http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/29/desk-phone-dock-review/

  • Flex for Touch Screen Interfaces

I am evaluating using Flex for the development of a couple of
touch screen kiosk projects. One major issue is the UI elements
like scroll bars. For both these projects, scroll bars are a design
necessity. (For better or for worse) Looking at the class
references it does not seem immediately clear that the scroll bars
can be modified in size. I do see that they can be skinned, but
there is no indication that I can go from the 16 px wide vertical
scroller to one say 48 px wide.
    Any thoughts?

I believe you can. If you lookup the source code you can
change these constants, create your own libraries and use them. you
will have to learn FLEX beyond evaluating it to prove this out, but
it could be done. It's open source, but you need to check out the
type of license. You may be able to sell it as a proprietary
    component.

  • How can I handle touch screen events with Swing?

    Hi,
I was wondering how i can handle touch screen events. Are there APIs for that or is it just a mouse event?
    Thank you in advance.
    Tim

I have recently created an application that ran on a touch screen system. I used the normal mouse events attached to the swing components (onClick) and these were translated by the touch screen. Typically I created a calculator type keypad, touched the screen on the text box where I wanted the data to appear and then pressed the keypad buttons to populate the field. No special drivers, just using swing components
    Hope that helps
yeah, this is really useful info.. me too trying to build an application for the touch screen... just wondering how other events like focus gained, tree selection events are recognized by touch screen? can we have focus and tree, table selection events etc, as it is in the touch screen as well?? or everything is just mouse event only??
