Touch screen isn't working

I have a 3rd generation 32 gb iPod touch. I had it plugged into my computer charging. It was about 1/2 charge when I plugged it in. I decided to listen to some music so I went to it and hit the home button. It came up with the slide to unlock on the bottom and the battery in the center like normal. I tried to slide it over, and nothing. Wouldn't move. I unplugged it and it came up to enter passcode and it wouldn't let me put in any numbers. Nothing on the "touch" part was working. I've tried to sync it but it won't let me. Says the iPod is passcode locked and won't connect. I push the home button and it only goes to the screen with the slide to unlock but won't slide. Again, the "touch" part just doesn't work. I've tried turning it off, but it won't slide over. I've tried to "clear" it by holding home and power buttons, but no help. It will reboot and the apple comes up but still no touch.
I just put on an invisa-shield about a day before this stopped working. I don't think I could have gotten it too wet with the application fluid but I'm not positive how touchy this is. (no pun intended).
Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried doing a hard reset by holding down the power off and home button simultaneously for 10seconds and then only holding the home button for 8-10seconds till you get the APPLE logo with th USB cable connected? This would erase the contents of the pod though.

  • My touch screen isn't working so I can't use my iPad.any ideas how to get the touch screen working again?

My son has done something to his ipad2 and now his touch screen does not work so he can't get from the lock screen as the screen isn't responding to touch. Any idea I can't even switch it off to restart.

    Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • I drop my phone in a half bowl of water and the touch screen isn't working, and suri keeps coming on. is my phone broken now?

I dropped my phone in a half bowl of water. The swipe screen isn't working and Suri keeps coming on. Is my phone broken or will it work after it sits in a bowl of rice?

It is probably broken, but wait and see, it takes several days to dry out. If it does start working that may only be temporary as the iPhone corrodes.

  • My touch screen isn't working and stopped working after I went running with it. I have restarted it multiple times and restored it on my MacBook. It will still not let me slide it to even look at the phone. Please help ASAP.

I took my iPhone running today and when I returned I was not able to slide it open or type in my pass code. All buttons are still responding. I have tried restarting it multiple times and even restored it, but the touch screen will not respond to anything. I also cleaned the screen off with a damp cloth. Please help! I WAS able to slide it open in the middle of restoring it but not able to click on any apps. Help! My life is on my iPhone and I am a nurse on call!

Try restore as new using computer iTunes.

  • IPod Touch Screen Isn't Work?

On my ipod touch the screen wont work in spots of it and it wont go up or down a web or app store or ect.

    Try in order:

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via itunes

  • My Itouch is stuck on a screen with a USB cable pointing to an iTunes symbol but when i try and connect to itunes it doesn't recognize it. I can't turn it off because my touch screen isn't working although my sleep button is, Help please?

My iPod got slightly wet but only slightly. Could this have done it?

Turn it off.  If it got wet somehow, you may try drying your ipod off.  The slow method would be a sunny window sill.  You could use a hair dryer on LOW, pointing it at the contacts.  When it drys out, charge itand try a hard-reset. If it still doesn't function properly....  ?

  • Touch screen won't work, and it's on lock

I have this ipod that I've been trying to fix for someone, as well as load up songs from itunes. I've successfully synced songs to it to it's full capacity (8G). However, when it was done, I ejected it and tried to listen to it to see if it was working properly. The screen is locked, as well as the touch screen isn't working as if it's completely dead. I've never had this problem as I am familiar with Ipod Touches and Nanos. Does anyone have any remedies or suggestions?? Gonna try other things in the meantime.

Hi Wazzup483, Im having the same problem you had. Screen locked, touch screen not responding and it won't stop playing music. It licked while I was listening to music. Took out my pocket and it was locked, guess I hit something.
    HELP :o)
    Thanks

  • HT1212 What happens when the touch screen doesn't work?

I have an iPod that was dropped in water sometime ago and we dryed it out immediately with rice.
I had lost all hope for it for a while, but then I noticed that it was still working and had the same homescreen on it.
I decided to try it again and when I plugged it into my computer it said something about reactivating it on the internet somehow.
When I did plug it into the computer it said I needed to put in the 4-digit passcode, but the screen isn't working.
I figured it was because of the water damage, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing doing something wrong.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • My palm m105's touch screen doesn't work properly after a sync.

I dug out my old m105, put new batteries in and start it. On first launch it auto runs the alignment tool, and after touching all the points it goes to the main screen and works fine. No problem till here.
Now, I plug it into my old computer which still has the palm software with my apps, and I run the sync operation (from the palm device sync manager, cause I lost my cradle and I'm connected via the serial cable), and it syncs fine BUT, here comes the problem, when it finishes the sync (successfully) the touch screen is all misaligned. I can't go back to the home screen or do anything useful.

Let's help solve this mystery together! Is your screen freezing after every reboot? Is there any physical/liquid damage on the device? When did this issue begin? Did you notice this after a recent update or application download?

  • I have an ipod touch 3rd generation and the whole touch screen is not working.

I have a 32gb ipod which I bought for fifty dollars and when i bought it had a pretty baddly cracked screen but thing is it worked fine. Every part of the screen worked fine; it was as senstive where the screen was cracked as the areas of the screen that were not cracked. I dropped it a couple times from like two or three feet on two a hard wood floor about four times all it did was make the cracks on the screen a little worse. Then one day I dropped it from about a foot and now the whole touch screen is not working does anyone know why this is. They told me at the ipod store to get a new one would be 130 to trade mine in. But the thing is I very mechanically inclined and I am very good with electrionics; I was planing on buying the glass for fifty bucks and putting it on myself because I read how to do it and I am more then capapble of doing it. But now since the touch screen is now working; do I need a new screen along with a new glass? See the thing is because I think both those part cost 120 together. Which would not be worth me doing that when I can go to the ipod store and they would trade me a new one for 130 bucks. But the issue is, they told me at the ipod store they would have to look and see how damaged the ipod is to see if they will exchange it. My screen is severly cracked; also I have a dent that is a half inch long and 1/8th inch deep in the back of my ipod and its very scracthed up; do you thing an ipod store would exchange it in the condition it is in. Also has anybody had this problem before and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take it apart and fix it my self without buying any new parts.

If I were you, I would pay the $130 for a replacement. Then you can be sure that it has all the working parts it needs.

    Dear all,
I had the same issue with my nokia 5800, finally I found very interesting thing, I have been doing everything to bring my phone back to original  condition where simply I can touch and access the phone.
Actually the issue was with the thin plastic piece which was put on the touch screen for its protection. I was struggling to touch and access the phone but i coudnt for almost 2 weeks, it was directing me to bottom left corner touch buttons of the phone and automatically opens and activate functional which I didn't want.
Solution was, I simply removed the thin plastic layer from the phone , Now it works fine.
    Hope this will help.

  • The touch screen is not working when I am in the Music app of my iPod Touch.  How do I get it to begin working?  It just stopped today.

The touch screen is not working when I am in the Music app of my iPod Touch.  How do I get it to begin working?  It just stopped today.
Does anyone know what I can do?  I am unable to switch screens, and I can not see the track that is playing.  The only was I can switch between songs is to use the controls on my headphones.

Try the stamdard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
