Touch screen issue on iPod touch 5

About 1,5 months I broke my iPod's screen, but it still worked fine. 4 days ago the sensor started to... turn off (don't even know how to name it): I just browse the internet or play a game and the screen just stops responding. If I lock it, I can unlock it normally and use my iPod again for a few minutes until it turns off again. What is it? Can I fix it without any screen replacement (I really think it's not the screen issue, btw)?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Culd be that the damage caused bu dripping progressed and is causing the problem

Try # 2 and 3 in link below. If neither work, your screen digitizer might need to be replaced.

  • Has software update nuked touch screen on my ipod touch 2G?

    Hi,
I've noticed that my touch screen input on my iPod Touch 2G is almost unusable. There is a delay / lag between me touching the screen and the device responding to the input, sometimes it gets it wrong. e.g. When I'm unlocking it - it gets the numbers wrong.
I don't think I have damaged the device (e.g. water damage, etc) - but I do remember upgrading to the latest iOS, and it does seem like an OS issue - has anyone had a similar finding?
    Thanks,
    Prashant.

    Try to Reset your device:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).
If this doesn't help, try a Restore.

  • Will Apple still replace the screen on my iPod Touch 4th gen.?

I dropped my iPod and completely cracked the whole front of my iPod. I got it a Target a month ago and I lost my receipt. Will Apple still replace it?

@lllaass I just cracked the screen on my Ipod touch 8gb 4th gen which i just bought wednesday from Target. However, I have one of those military grade portective films over it. Was that supposed to protect it? Not sure, but I also have another issue. I live an hour away from the nearest apple store and I don't want to make an appointment at the Genius bar and still have to pay. Should I just take my chances and schedule one? Or are there other places that might be able to replace it for cheaper?

  • The screen on my ipod touch is stuck zoomed in. I turned it off and back and its still stuck zoomed in. I also tried to reset it and that didn't work either. Please help.

The screen on my ipod touch is stuck zoomed in. I don't know how it happened I just looked down and it was like that. I have turned it off and back and even reset it but it still keeps zooming back in each time I turn it on. I can't unlock it because I can't see the numbers and it won't let me move around the screen. Please help.

This is asked and answered often.  The foru search bar is on the right side of this page.
It is also covered in the manual - zoom feature:

The screen on my ipod touch came away from the back and then stuck back down a couple of days later. The battery seems to be weak now but everything else is OK. What could have caused this? Over chargibg in the car cradle?, Heat? Being held too tightly in the cradle?, Getting water inside?
Has this happend to any of you.

If you have successfully restored the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The screen on my ipod touch is frozen with the iTunes symbol and the connection cord. I don't know how to get past this. Has been like this for over a week. Need help PLEASE.

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Can we get screen replaced on ipod touch?

Can I replace the screen on my ipod touch? Dropped it this morning and it cracked, very badly.

Apple does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair".
